This book has a little bit of everything – romantic suspense, quirky characters, mobsters, and dogs. Lots of dogs. Adorable dogs that keep getting dognapped on Lucie’s watch. The plot takes interesting and amusing twists, with plenty of laughable moments along the way.
This book is for readers who enjoy Evanvich type humorous mysteries. Adrienne Giordano has such a snappy and clever voice, plus she comes from a background of writing romantic suspense so she knows how to craft a clever mystery with plenty of action and a sexy romantic conflict. I love being able to refer my mystery reading friends to her Lucie Rizzo series.
Lucie Rizzo fit in with solving the crime because of her mob family and a boyfriend.
Just s fun read
If you like Stephanie Plum books, this book is for you. Laugh out loud funny, with wonderful characters and descriptive scenery. Great beach, fireside or quarantine read. Looking forward to the next book in this series. Happy reading. Highly recommend!
Not my usual kind of read, but I enjoyed the quirky characters!
Received this free from another site for a review. Loved the story and the characters. Couldn’t put it down until I had finished it. Planning to read the series. If you love a good mystery this is the book.
Cute book. Fast read
I’m a fan of all Giordano’s books, but the Lucie Rizzo Mystery series (starting with Dog Collar Crime) is a perfect summer beach read. A fun (non-murder) mystery with characters that will remind you of Stephanie Plum and her crew in Janet Evanovich’s books. Once you get drawn into Lucie Rizzo’s world of sleuthing, you won’t want to leave!
Lucie is out walking a dog when it gets stolen. When her brother finds out, he insists him and Frankie walk with her to protect her. They are informed there is a dognapping ring. This book has a good mystery, and is a lot of fun to read!
I enjoyed reading this story. It’s a cute story with some likable characters, suspense, drama, mystery, romance, family intrigue and dogs. This is the first book I’ve read from this author but I will read more.
Easy and fun, unpredictable scenarios causing funny complications, a bit of romance.
A fun read
Fun, quick read
Lucia Rizzo aka Lucie aka Luce, mob princess has found herself living back in her parent’s home, having lost her banking job. To get by, she has started walking dogs and making dog accessories. After a couple of trunk shows and word of mouth her accessories are taking off. Who knew people would pay such outrageous prices for dog collars, leashes, and sweaters. She is in an on again off again relationship with Frankie Falcone. Her father, mob boss Joe Rizzo, is in prison. Her brother Joey, is a bookie, pain in her keister, but sometimes surprises her.
It isn’t long before Lucie is being attacked and dogs stolen but strangely returned unharmed the following day. Her spread sheet containing the name of all her clients was also missing. Frankie helps get Lucie’s accessories into a high end dog store and the next day it is robbed. Lucie has a feeling it has to do with her accessories since her friend, Roseanne, discovered she had used a real diamond on one of her test sweaters. Not just a diamond but a 15 carat diamond. She sets out to try to check all of the for other diamonds but it takes time. Frankie reaches out to his dad for help but he gets no where. Joey ask some questions of his dad but is certain he knows nothing. They all try to keep it from Lucie and Joey’s mom because they don’t want to upset her.
After Detective O’Brien stops by Lucie’s to check on her, her mother knows something is up. Lucie finally comes clean and tells her about the attacks and dognappings. She asked her mom if she knew anything about the diamond and she said she believed so. She then lays the whole story out for Lucie. Lucie needs to tell Frankie but she knows this is going to be hard and Joey is going to lose his mind.
You’ll have to read for yourself to find out what Lucie’s mom revealed and where that takes Lucie and Frankie.
It’s a series and I enjoyed them all.
I loved this book. It reminded me somewhat of the Stephanie Plum books. I don’t feel like going on with the series at this time, however, I saved this book to nook cloud to remind me later that there are more Lucie Rizzo Mysteries available to read later. It is a “comfort” read to me. It is funny and different and love the dogs.
I love dogs and a good mystery. Throw in some laugh-out-loud moments with quirky characters and you’ve got a winner. Dog Collar Crime, and the whole Lucie series, is the perfect entertainment for me after a long day. My favorite character is Ro, who seems so organized and creative, yet never fails to create chaos for Lucie. 🙂 I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
Slap stick like a Stephanie Plumb novel.
This was amusing and original I look forward to sequels with same humor
