With a new introduction by bestselling true crime author Ron Franscell.
For 25 years, the trusted family doctor in a small Wyoming town had been raping and molesting the women and children who most relied on him. Mostly Mormons, the naive victims sometimes realized on their wedding nights the truth about what had happened in Dr. Story’s office.
In riveting detail, veteran crime writer Jack … crime writer Jack Olsen tells the searing story of a small group of courageous women who decided to bring a doctor to justice — and unearthed a legacy of pain and anger that would divide their families, their neighbors, and an entire town.

One of the best books I have read in recent years. A historical novel based on research to fill in gaps while maintaining historical integrity.
A wonderful read about Doc Holiday! I had no idea Doc Holiday was so well versed and gentle! He was kind and considerate! He died so young from such a horrid disease! He was a true gentleman!
Doc is an outstandingly true-to-life historical fiction about the life and times of John Henry “Doc” Holliday, about whom I must admit, I knew virtually nothing before reading this book. Following Doc from his childhood in Georgia through the West and his death from tuberculosis at the age of 36, Mary Doria Russell creates a portrait of the hard …
Mary Doria Russell is an outstanding writer & story teller…one of the very best! “Doc” is a great historical fiction…so realistic, I felt part of the story.
Wonderful historical novel about dentistry’s most unique character sprinkled with philosophy, adventure, and tragedy.
Interesting historical novel. Completely enjoyed it.
A surprisingly good book. Well written and informative, with enough information of the man to get to know him.
Excellent
A read that is slow to unfold, but interesting nonetheless.
Well researched
Learned a lot about Doc Holliday and others that I did not know
Informative and entertaining. A great read.
A story about Doc Holidays life with many things that may surprise many.
Could this be you?
The story is not the 1950s television version of Doc and Wyatt and his brothers, but of a poignant and complex character caught in a world very different from what he’d had planned for himself. The writing is lovely and genteel and incredibly engaging. The story is sad, and appears to be very well researched. A definite read.
Very well written book and a great account with accurate historical pieces regarding Doc Holliday’s life. Funny and informative at the same time.
Wow, I truly enjoyed this book. Forget those Holllywood versions that fluff up the spirit of the old west and read this extremely well researched and gritty presentation of the real story of Holliday, the Earpes, their women, their foibles, failures and successes. Enlightening!
The ending of this book is poorly done. Leaving out a major part of his life just to write and sale another book seems like a great way to cheat the reader. I won’t read anything else by this author.
I liked the book because it revealed some things unknown about Doc Holiday. Very interesting read.
People read history and historical fiction to learn about how people lived in other times and places, as well as to learn what history’s complex and influential people were like. The American west in the 19th century is one of those subjects that lends important perspective concerning contemporary society and how it came to be what it is. But …
