With a new introduction by bestselling true crime author Ron Franscell.
For 25 years, the trusted family doctor in a small Wyoming town had been raping and molesting the women and children who most relied on him. Mostly Mormons, the naive victims sometimes realized on their wedding nights the truth about what had happened in Dr. Story’s office.
In riveting detail, veteran crime writer Jack … crime writer Jack Olsen tells the searing story of a small group of courageous women who decided to bring a doctor to justice — and unearthed a legacy of pain and anger that would divide their families, their neighbors, and an entire town.

This indeed could happen to any of us. It’s a shame it took so many years to punish this horrible doctor.
Interesting story. Repetitive. Frustrating that the Characters would not acknowledge their rapes when they happened or report them.
This doctor took advantage of such trusting and inexperienced women. It was hard nd frustrating to read because of that, but a very good read.
I kept waiting for Dr Story to get his just desserts,. His position in society and as a member of the medical community seemed to take precedence over the atrocious crimes he committed. I wonder how often this occurs even today in the # Me Too environment.
Unbelievable! Can’t believe it’s true!
Jack Olsen was a great author.
Redundant and boring
Actually kind of drug on and on. Being a WY native and personally knowing Judy Cashel, a little over blown and inaccuracies thruout the book. Judy is a little stuck on herself and not as good as she thinks she is.
Interesting
A must read for any person suspicious of a person of authority!
I am sure some people would enjoy, I just had a hard time following it.
I love how Jack Olsen used to write. He’d build a story from the beginning up and you travel along with him until all is revealed. This story was about a Dr. and abuse of power and naivety. Sick and sad for the victims.
I truly enjoyed reading about “Doc” John Henry Holliday’s early life. The author states in the very beginning the real characters and those that were made up. She brings John Henry to life and gives the reader an opportunity to understand how he became who he was who he was purported to be.
This is head-and-shoulders above your average Western, and doubly enjoyable because of that. Beautifully descriptive, with characters that are fully three-dimensional.
We have all heard the story of the OK Corral ad infinitum, since childhood in all likelihood. What none of us has probably never heard is the prequel — what happened before those few noisy and deadly moments in the streets of a dusty mining town in the middle of a desolate part of Arizona. Doc beautifully weaves together the events and lives of …
All I can say is I loved it!
A wonderful book that tells a legitimate story of the life of Doc Holiday and his relationship with the Earp brothers. This tale doesn’t mythologized or resort to hagiography. It tells the often pathetic realities of the lives of these legendary western characters while giving you a respectful appreciation for these people as they negotiated …
This wonderful book not only entertains but is highly informative and educational. The author has such a command of descriptive language I felt almost perfect empathy with Doc Holiday and the physical and emotional pain he endured.
My Book Club consisting of Grannies absolutely LOVED this book and everything about it. We will read Epitaph sometime over the next few months.
Doc is a wonderful look into the life of a western legend. Doc is also a book about the Wyat Earp family, and all the craziness that happened daily in the old west in Dodge city. I loved every chapter that told of the sad life of Doc Holliday.
