Hard to read when it came to those defending him. How could people turn against others. I understand it happens a lot in many different circumstances but still hard to believe. Those poor women
Very interesting how this man could take advantage of his patients the way he did without being discovered for many years.
I read this book years ago, but it lingers in my mind as one of the most shocking happenings I have ever run across. I won’t be a spoiler by giving away the story, just, trust me, you will keep turning pages! This is a classic example of a person in authority selfishly taking advantage of the people that trusted him. Just a reprehensible snake and …
How could the testimonies of so many women not be believed? Why on earth would anybody expose themselves to telling and retelling these stories, at the risk of being demeaned and embarrassed? I am impressed that these plucky ladies stepped up and stopped the horrendous legacy of abuse. The book ran a bit long for me, with repetitive stories, but …
I thought this book was boring, in spite of the subject matter and the scandal of US gymnastics, for example. Even so this is a classic pattern how a person in authority, can for years, abuse (and yes rape) over many years.
Makes you wonder why we all just automatically trust doctors?
A true account , much of the information was taken from court records and interviews. Disturbing that he got away with that for so many years.
If you like to read true crime, this is another great book by a great author
An account of a capable, but perverted, small town doctor who sexually abused many patients over decades. Half or more of the town’s population failed to believe that he was guilty.
Sad to think that someone you would trust could take advantage of so many people
Possibly real, but depressing. Couldn’t get past the first chapter
A tough read because of the topic.
so sad, this did not have to go on so long. amazing that this man could have the trust of so many people.
A true story that is unbelievable in this day. Well written and keeps the reader wondering what is going to happen to the doctor that should be put in prison forever.
How did he get away with it for so long?
I had never heard of this before reading the book. It’s just horrific! Makes you wonder.
Sad to believe that some folks covered up for this man. His crimes were protect because he preyed on women because of their religion.
Excellent, well written, fascinating crime story.
I can’t believe that dr got away with rape for so many years & that he still has supporters that believe in his innocence.
A bit long. But a very good story.
