Some days things just click. Today is not that day.
Love is a battlefield, and divorce attorney Sadie Howard is entrenched on the frontlines. She thought she might have met the right man once, but he was a career military guy who got shipped overseas and left her heart on the tarmac. These days, the only commitment Sadie wants is the one she’s made to her Denver law practice.
Combat photographer … photographer Roman Dvornakov is back. Fresh out of the U.S. Army, he’s using family connections to snap photos at a few weddings while he builds his civilian photography practice. After all he’s captured on film, a few posed wedding shots should be a cakewalk. Seeing so much death through the camera lens, he’s now ready to build something worth living for. A thriving photography business, definitely. But he’s certain his new mission also includes Sadie, the girl who slipped away.
Sadie isn’t convinced, and she’s not willing to open her heart anytime soon. Besides, she’s got a high-profile divorce case taking up all her attention. Winning the case for her client will make or break her practice. So what if it’s a custody dispute over a ridiculously expensive fish tank? When Roman discovers the soon-to-be divorced couple are still in love, he and his slightly-nutty grandmother, Babushka, are determined to convince them to cancel the proceedings. He’s not camera shy when it comes to matters of the heart, but interfering with Sadie’s clients could wreck her career and any chance they’ll ever have together…

I think that I liked this book more for the crazy characters in it then I did for Rome and Sadie. I did like Rome. I didn’t connect with Sadie for some reason. On top of that, I didn’t feel a connection between Rome and Sadie. This was a second chance romance where I feel like Sadie didn’t give Roman a fair second chance.
At the very beginning of the book, I did feel that chemistry between the two of them. When they reconnected, I felt nothing. Nothing other than Rome was more into her than she was into him. They disconnected on more then one level for me, and I’m not sure why that happened.
The supporting characters were what made this book enjoyable. I think Babushka steals the show in every book. It is always fun to watch her work her magic. It was also nice to get a bit of an update on previous couples.
The good thing is that Rome and Sadie’s story does end in an HEA. I would give this 3.5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Roman and Sadie are a match made in heaven, and visiting with Babushka is like visiting family!
I highly recommend that you read this entire series, as they are all so much fun, but all of the Mile High Matched books can be read as stand alone novels.
Roman and Sadie’s story is a second chance romance. Roman and Sadie meant everything to each other when they were younger, and then he left to join the army. His biggest regret was walking away from the girl that meant everything to him. Now that he’s home, he enlists the craftiest wingman he can think of to help him get the girl – his grandmother, Babushka!
Sadie never really go over being deserted by Roman, and as a divorce lawyer, she does not trust in love at all. But there is no way that she can escape the crafty ways of this team that is determined to make this love match work.
As with the other Mile High Matched books, we get to visit with the prior leads and see where they are in their lives, and they help our couple find their happily ever after. Such a great series – I never want it to end!
Quirky second-chance romance with a lot of heart!
After a whirlwind romantic weekend together, Roman is back on assignment after turning down Sadie’s offer to wait for him. Ten years later, they meet again when her brother is the best man at his brother’s wedding. Roman is out of the service and very interested in picking up where they left off, but Sadie, now a divorce attorney, knows that second chances never work out and tries her best to keep her distance. Unfortunately, she hadn’t prepared a defense against Roman’s old-country grandmother and her meddlesome determination.
There’s quite a bit of humor throughout this book, some of the slapstick variety while some is a little more subtle. Roman and Sadie have a lot of chemistry and a strong connection, making their love believable and deserving of their HEA. The writing style is a bit too quirky at times, almost offhand in some spots, yet never going quite as far as campy. It was a fun book to read, and I recommend it for anyone looking for a cute rom-com. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is the story of Roman and Sadie. You are roped in from the very beginning where these two meet and have a wonderful weekend together. But due to Roman’s military service the two go their separate ways – even though Sadie offered to wait for him. Fast forward 10 years – both Roman and Sadie are back in Denver and reunite at his brother’s wedding. From there the hilarity ensues with Babushka back in action! I want her recipe for vodka mashed potatoes!!!

First, let me say thank you to the author and or publisher for the book. Second, thank you to the author for continuing with the characters of this story. Sometimes authors feel they need to change things up. Here though you still get a story along with the characters from the previous books and the humor that comes with the Dvornakov family loud and always in your business.
Here you have Roman Dvornakov and Sadie Howard. Sadie is Elis’s sister and he and Roman are best friends. But one weekend Roman and Sadie spend the entire weekend together. Before she is to leave for law school and he is returning to the military. She tells him all the sweet things a guy wants to hear from a woman, but Roman says don’t wait for me to live your life and walks in the airport without looking back.
Sadie has done what he told her to do ten years ago to live her life and now she is a divorce attorney in Denver and is getting ready to walk down the aisle for her friend’s wedding. Happy for her friend she realizes she wants that marriage and family.
Roman is looking at Sadie and while he is to be taking pictures of the wedding, he can’t take his eyes off of her and knows now ten years later he made a big mistake in walking away from her. That day he knows he must come up with a plan to win her back. His plan includes the one person who everyone tries not to include his Babushka.
He also does not know that Sadie does not believe in second chances and so he is really behind the eight ball all the way around. With all of the high jinx that his grandmother causes along with his own this story will keep you turning the pages to see what happens to the next page. A very good book with very good characters.

I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

I love this series! The Dvornakov family is a big, noisy (and nosy), Russian family whose matriarch, Babushka, interferes with everyone’s love life. Roman Dvornakov has been friends with Sadie Howard’s brother Eli since they were teens. They have a fling right before Sadie goes to law school and Roman goes back on deployment. Now ten years have passed and Roman see her walking down the aisle of a friend’s wedding and is determined to not let her get away a second time. Problem is, Sadie is now a divorce attorney and does believe in second chances. I love the Dvornakov family, and all of Babushka’s machinations. This is a great, fun read. This can be read as a stand-alone, but read the whole series, you won’t regret it. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
Sadie Howard and Roman Dvornakov had a special connection but he was a combat photographer for the US Army and off on a mission while she was off to law school so it slipped by. Ten years later they’re both back in Denver. Roman knows that Sadie is the one for him and sets out to prove it to her. But Sadie’s now a divorce attorney and doesn’t believe in second chances. Can Roman change her mind and prove he means forever?
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. And, honestly, I absolutely loved it! I laughed out loud at times, teared up at others and was engaged in the story at all times. I could totally relate to the characters and enjoyed moving along with their ups and downs. The book is well-written with well-rounded characters and it reeled me in from the beginning. I am eager for the next book in this series. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
Babushka is back and she’s better than ever. Readers of Christina Hovland’s Mile High Matched series fell in love with Jase’s grandmother, Babushka. She’s back again to help another grandson find his true match. Roman and Sadie’s story is sweet, hot and laugh out loud funny. No Dvornakov’s are tied to kitchen appliances this time, but still a fun, sexy read.
4.5 Stars
This book follows Roman (Jase’s brother) and Sadie (Eli’s sister). These two started something a long time ago and then pressed stop. When Roman sees Sadie again, he is all in to win her over and rekindle what he left behind. I appreciated that he recognized his mistakes from the first time around and I loved Sadie’s skepticism on second chances working out. I understood Sadie’s desire to protect herself from further heartbreak and the distrust of relationship success formed by her career as a divorce attorney.
Sadie and Roman are both likable characters and his family is always a good time. Babushka and her friends play a key role in getting these two together and there are laughs to be had in the process. I loved the continued development of Sadie’s friendship with Marlee, Becca and Kellie, as well as her relationship with Eli. Roman and Sadie have solid chemistry and the ability to read each other’s emotions, which I loved. The book is dual POV beginning right at the end of “Take it Off the Menu.” There is plenty of heat, a lot of laughs, and some potent emotion as these two make a go of their second chance to get their HEA.
Babushka is my spirit animal. If the author wants to just do a book featuring Babushka and all her wisdom, I’d carry it around like a bible. Babushka is a genius, take this for example using vodka instead of milk in the mashed potatoes, brilliant! Okay yes there is a beautiful story about Sadie and Roman. This book is fun, very funny, sexy and emotional all rolled into one.
*I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems/author and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion*
This is Roman and Sadie’s story and is the fourth in the Mile High Series. It’s a stand alone story, but I highly recommend ALL of them. It was great to see Eli, Marlee and Babushka again. The characters are very well developed and feel like my old friends. I know I will miss them as I wait for the next in the series! Such a fun read and hard to put down.
