Now includes an excerpt from the upcoming Four: A Divergent Collection.
This first book in Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.
Perfect for fans of … adult readers.
Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.
One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior’s society is divided into five factions — Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she’s determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

I have read this book many times, along with watching the film. Tris is so relatable and I loved watching her develop and overcome the obstacles that she faced. Highly recommend this book!
Ugh. This Hunger Games wannabe goes beyond suspension of disbelief and into total absurdity. If you’re really interested in the premise, watch the movie. You’ll lose a lot less time that way.
one of the best teen fictions books i’ve ever read, there’s a little hunger games vibe. Ifelt very inspired by it, as it shows that doesn’t matter if you’re a girl or small, you can still be brave and a badass. A good book for anyone who’s for an action-packed fiction with a strong female character, there’s even a bit of romance involved
A great start to the series!
I could not stop reading! This was definitely a stay-up-late read!
Okay, this was a book that once again my daughter, whom many of you know as Ali from Ali’s Bookshelf, recommended to me. After reading some other dystopian books she also thought I would like this one. Needless to say, I was so engrossed in the book that it was hard to get much other things done. I started on June 8th and was done on June 18th. …
An amazing novel that brings a new look to the dystopian fandom!
I highly recommend the series “divergent“, “allegiant“, “insurgent“. They are a dystopian look at the future that takes place in Chicago. It was interesting to see the authors perspective of what our future could possibly look like. It was also entertaining to discuss with friends to see what group they believe they would belong too. This is an …
I really enjoyed the whole series. The movies, not so much!
A fresh dystopian work written for YA readers, but also with much to engage a more mature audience. Living in a society where all are funneled in to four distinct identities, the characters struggle to understand the truths of a manipulative government. Well done!
Loved it
I enjoyed this series!
Excellent read, excellent characters, great pace, disturbing possible future.
I absolutely loved this book. It was very easy to fall in love with Tris and her friends. I would recommend this book to everyone. I could not put this book down, it only took me a few days to read. It is kind of long, over 400 pages, but it is worth it. After this, I quickly read the sequels and loved them too. I will admit, I too want my own …
This was a great story. Well developed story and characters.
Divergent was a look into a world where teenagers are allowed to choose which faction they will live out their adult life in. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes YA books.

I loved the series.
I enjoyed reading this. I like the sort of utopian stories.
Great series. Futuristic in nature, sort of dystopian.
