Now includes an excerpt from the upcoming Four: A Divergent Collection.
This first book in Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.
Perfect for fans of … adult readers.
Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.
One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior’s society is divided into five factions — Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she’s determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

Some good characters, great idea of how things can not quite be as they seem,
Could not put the entire series down!!
Amazing book
I am sure there are many people who have seen these movies. The boos are all great.
Excellent. Engaging, fast paced read. Great descriptions of the locale (I could picture myself living at the Dauntless compound)
This is a great series. Even better than the movie!
A great beginning to another young fiction series. Imaginative, but with a plot that could actually happen instead of simply from a pretend, mystical, or scy fi sense. GI Jane meets Hunger Games.
Loved this entire series
I really enjoyed the Divergent series. Reading the evolution of the main character from Beatrice to Tris was exciting. She found an inner strength that she didn’t know she had. Four is a great character! The “bad” boy who at the heart of it is really a good person. Definitely a must read!
Loved the whole set. Wish there were more series like this
Best book of the series
This was a great series. Cool concept that made the reader want to be there or at least imagine ones own place in the world. Great for discussions about typing in general. Not just a sappy happy ending, either.
Not a predictable storyline, which is refreshing. With everything that happened to the main characters, I felt the ending was appropriate. Good writing. The books are way better than the movies!
This YA dystopian book is a great, easy read! The characters are likable and I found myself hooked, I read the first two books in a week and waited a little while for the 3rd to come out. Great series! 🙂
Divergent is a superb piece of fiction and I would highly recommend reading it. The characters are flawlessly made and the author creates a story that is impossible to put down.
Love all the series
Loved the series of books, better than the movies.
This book is slightly disturbing.
A pretty good read.
Not my style but my Granddaughter was reading it and I wanted to know what her interests were. It was not bad at all.
