A captivating psychological thriller from #1 USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Jaynes. On Halloween night five years ago, Chelsea Dutton’s college roommates were viciously stabbed to death, and Chelsea was critically injured. She was found hiding in her apartment’s bathtub, barely clinging to life. With only fragments of shattered memory, she’s been trying her best to move past the nightmares … best to move past the nightmares ever since. Now in Boston, she lives a somewhat reclusive life, working from home as a medical transcriptionist and bingeing on mindless television shows.
She can’t shake the fear that her attacker is out there, waiting to finish what he started, and Elizabeth, a nurse she met after the murders, is the only person she can trust.
When someone from her past reemerges, Chelsea starts receiving disturbing messages and worries that her every move is being watched. As the messages mount and her memories begin to return, she’s led to a very terrifying and lonely place. But she needn’t be afraid. She won’t be alone there for long.

Wow…I totally fell for it…the trap the author set up!
Chelsea survived a horrific event and has the scars to prove it. She is missing memories of the night her room mates were attacked. Chelsea has a small apartment, a cat and a job she can do from her apartment. Certain sounds and smells remind her of the attack five years ago. But she is a survivor.
Her best friend is Elizabeth, a nurse and confident of hers. Chelsea followed her to Boston when Elizabeth moved for a better nursing job. Chelsea keeps herself busy with work, her friendship and tries hard to move forward…till she runs into Boyd. A face from her past.
I became totally frustrated and almost quit reading the book as Chelsea fell for Boyd and ignored signs that he may be evil. The changes in Chelsea shocked me, angered me and like Elizabeth……I wanted Chelsea to stay away from Boyd. A detective Lang starts looking into things….he was on the original case. And he is very good at the job.
Am I the only one that totally didn’t get it?
I was really gobsmacked by the reveal. What a great plot!!! Dont want to leak too much of the story…..you will read this in one sitting to figure out just what is going on…oh my!!!
A gripping psychological thriller with multiple twists and turns! I’ll admit, I did kinda know who the killer was from the very first page, but it didn’t take away any pleasure from reading the entire story. Great use of the unreliable protagonist technique, a chilling setting (hello, Halloween!), interesting, well fleshed-out characters – this book is a treat for all fans of the genre. Highly recommended!
This is one of my favorite of Jennifer Jaynes’ novels. She does an amazing job at depicting Boston and has you second-guessing the main character’s every move.
4.75 stars out of 5.
I would have given this a five star rating but I felt that it was an almost but not completely perfect psychological thriller. The one thing that makes it not perfect is that it was pretty easy to figure out an important part of the twist. It was still a well written, taut and exciting thriller that will hold your interest.
On Halloween night five years ago Chelsea Dutton was the only survivor of the “Halloween College Girl Murders”. What started as a small, quiet birthday party for Amy, one of Chelsea’s two roommates ended in a blood bath with only Chelsea being the only survivor, walking away with both physical and mental scars.Everyone thinks Ethan one of the two boys is the murderer as he has not been seen since and the other boy who had to leave early for work had an alibi.
It has been a long road but Chelsea is finally starting to recover. One day just a week or so before Halloween Chelsea sees Boyd, the other boy from the party at the farmer’s market. She feels drawn to him as the only other person besides the murderer to walk away that night so she approaches him. Getting to know him and starting a relationship has really ade Chelsea start to feel even better until the gets a note left on her windshield with the fatal words that were scrawled on the bathroom mirror the night of the murder “You made me”. The killer is back and Chelsea is in danger again. Could Ethan be right here in Boston watching every move she makes? Just waiting for the right time to strike?
With the discovery of the note the Detective who was forced to retire before he could solve the case returns and the cast of characters is complete.
The novel is well written with Detective Lange and Chelsea as likable sympathetic leads you will not be able to put this down. Will you be able to figure out the twist? If you read a lot of psychological thrillers you may more than likely be able to. That being said I would would pick this up anyway because I feel that you will really enjoy this. To make this even more fun? Read it around Halloween. I sure wish I had!
Wow!! I do love a great Murder mystery. Well I have just found a new favorite author that has fed my love of this genre.
Jennifer Jaynes Disturbed was everything I love in a great book.
A Murder investigation that goes cold, a survivor who doesn’t remember exactly what happened due to amnesia, and a detective who has never let the case leave his mind.
Absolutely an amazing book that will leave the readers jaw hitting the floor when all is revealed. Spellbinding, Mind-boggling drama, that will satisfy ever Murder mystery fan.

Has twist you will not see coming!
Meh, it was alright. At least it kept me interested enough to finish it. I’m on a little bit of a book vetting right now. I have so much on my too read list that I am just not interested in spending my free time on anything that isn’t at least interesting. This one kept me guessing and I didn’t figure it out until about the 85% point. If I could give it 3.5stars, I would.
Dayum! Should be made into a movie! This had me from the get go! Thought I’d figured out who it was, then I thought it could be someone else and then boom! Totally freaked me out on who it actually did it all!?! So good! #MustRead
I love psychological thrillers and this one was a lot of fun. Twists and turns with some great characters. This would make a fantastic movie!
