I loved him from the age of sixteen. Hated him from the age of eighteen. He disappeared at the age of nineteen. We started off as enemies, then fast became lovers. But our story isn’t a happily ever after. It was a story of a king and a peasant. Can you guess which I was? I knew we weren’t meant to be. You see, he fell in love with her first. He loved me last.I’m not someone’s second choice. Not … last.
I’m not someone’s second choice.
Not even for the boy who stole my heart.
I’m someone’s first.
Now, I just have to remember that.

Have you ever been shopping for an important event with only an hour before the shops close to chose an outfit? Well, that’s the feeling I got when I read this nail-biting darkest of dark first instalment of TL Smith’s Dark Intentions Duet.
It’s the pace of this book that destroyed me, despite being sickly satisfying.
It’s a dizzying, sharp, anxiety filled race of passion, lust, angst, heart tearing pain and loathing, that will have you wincing and breathless as you turn the pages.
TL wastes little time in getting to the point of this book, evil and innocent do not good bed fellows make. I have used this analogy before, but it runs true here, Saskia and Ryken are like magnets, so intensely drawn to one another, yet due to their circumstances their oppositely placed polarity makes them destined to repel one another .
Make no mistake, Ryken’s world is pure evil, human trafficking is a prickly topic for an author to place a hero in the centre of, and Ms Smith does a beautiful job of showing us his internal struggle with the life he has to lead and the one he wants. And oh how he wants Saskia! You can feel it through the pages, and it is a returned passion that these two struggle to keep contained.
But as with all great passion it boils over in the most destructive way, and the ensuing cliff hanger left me agonisingly bereft, paving the way for a finale that will no doubt leave me as gutted and wounded but eventually restored as I have come to expect from this author.
She maintains her mantle as the Queen of Darkness with Distorted Love, and I can’t wait for the painful conclusion.
This is my first TL book, and it really is something
A story of 3 pods in a pea.
3 characters joined by love, lust and luck
Ryken is stuck with a sinful father, head of a crime empire, with his fat fingers in a lot of pies. One of them- sex slavery
Thank God his mom instilled some good morals in him. He likes Saska,a hard working girl in her ultimate year of HS. She’s here by good graces of her cousin Livia. She’s on the wrong side of the town,in a trailer with her mom.
The story takes a …….unusual(bizarre) turn, I felt
I loved the writing but I had a hard time picturing the scenario. A 15/16 year old, doing what she does, is a bit OTT for me, but that’s just MY OPINION
Please go and read the book
You’re guaranteed a mouth hung open response!

Distorted Love is the first book in Dark Intentions Duet.
I love reading T. L. Smith’s book they usually keep me on the edge of my seat and this book was no exception. I stayed glued to this book as it is an absolute page turner.
As I was nearing the end of Distorted Love I kept looking at the % of how much of the book that I had read just dreading the end of Distorted Love because all I could think about was that I just wanted to keep on reading. I DID NOT want Distorted Love to end. The next book is Sinister Love and you can bet that I will be the first one in line to get it!
I’ve read a lot of TL Smiths work so I thought I knew what to expect with this book but I really didn’t. I should know better by now.
I don’t know what it was about the two main characters but I loved them from the start. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions reading this book. I adored Saskia but I’m extremely torn about my feelings towards Ryken. On one hand he’s everything I love my book men to be but on the other he’s everything I despise.
This book messed me up. I’m drained after reading it (in the best way possible). The story and characters took on a life of their own and dragged me along for the ride. And what a ride! Plenty of hotness, a forbidden attraction and a chain of reactions no one can stop, this book has it all. It kept me on the edge of my seat, made me hope and despair, made me fall in love with certain characters and made me hate some of them with a vengeance. I need book two. NEED it!!! How am I supposed to carry on without knowing what happens next? The next few weeks are going to feel like a life time. Absolutely amazing book.
This is not your typical love story maybe it is all about survival? This is a story of obsession, loyalty, family obligations and broken promises! It will leave your head and your heart hurting for these two and have you filled with more questions than answers as you wait for the second part. TL Smith’s books hold you hostage and are relentless on keeping you captured within the pages right up to the last word.
Ms. Smith had my jaw on the floor, me sitting on the edge of my seat, and I think I bit off all of my nails on one hand!!!
This is not an every day swoon-worthy, heart melting, rainbow and sunshine kind of read. It is one that will destroy you page after page and leave you wanting/needing more.
Saskia is a trailer park girl, Ryken is the heir to his father’s dark empire. They are completely different but at the same time cannot fight the pull they have to one another. Their love was doomed from the beginning.
TL Smith knows how to give you a book that will rip your heart out. She always delivers on dark and twisted romance time and time again. What does the future hold for Saskia and Ryken? Will they even get a future?
