NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERElizabeth and Jackson Shore married young, raised two daughters, and weathered the storms of youth as they built a family. From a distance, their lives look picture perfect. But after the girls leave home, Jack and Elizabeth quietly drift apart. When Jack accepts a wonderful new job, Elizabeth puts her own needs aside to follow him across the country. Then tragedy turns … country. Then tragedy turns Elizabeth’s world upside down. In the aftermath, she questions everything about her life—her choices, her marriage, even her long-forgotten dreams. In a daring move that shocks her husband, friends, and daughters, she lets go of the woman she has become—and reaches out for the woman she wants to be.

Once again, Kristin Hannah does not disappoint.
Interesting take on a marriage gone stale.
I loved this book because I could identify with the main character. It was heart-warming and ended happy.
I always enjoy Kristin Hanna’s books although it’s hard to beat The Nightingale. I have passed it on to a friend and I hope she enjoys it. The husband character seemed very self centered and I couldn’t blame the wife for some of the decisions she made. The end was not necessarily predictable but I was satisfied with the choices they made.
Fascinating study of the lives and emotions of a modern married couple whose long-term relationship is challenged by their unfulfilled dreams of what might have been.
Absolutely loved this book from one of my favorite authors!
Anything set in the Oregon coast is going to entertain me!
I like books
I always enjoy her books Light reading but they hold your interest.
I love, love, love this author!
Dull and not up to the author’s normally high standards.
Wow…KH is becoming one of my all-time fave authors.
This book wasn’t a page-turner in the normal sense…and there were some places where I gritted my teeth and hung on, because I know Hannah has a way of maneuvering around a realistic, touchy subject and make it turn out brilliantly.
I adored the main character’s journey…and that’s …
The story shares a time in a married woman’s life that many of us feel but keep it to ourselves. We forget who WE are and take on the responsibility of caring and doing for those around us. Maybe it is time to stand back and see what our own life is about. What do we want to do on a daily basis, what have we down in our past that has brought us …
Thoroughly enjoyed Distant Shores. Realistically explained the difficulties of being a wife and mother and losing oneself. The struggle and it’s solution we’re believable and inspiring.
Enjoyable read!
I felt this story was really underdeveloped and the characters very unlikeable. The main characters spend half of the book thinking about how stale their marriage is, the husband considers cheating with every younger woman he comes into contact with. Finally they separate and surprise….the husband does have a brief affair with his assistant. I …
Great author.
Enjoyable but not as great as her Nightingale
Every thing Kristin Hannah writes explores family and relationships. This book is full of hope and love.
Very good.
