I always thought weddings were supposed to be about joining lives… Not ending them. But when an unexpected guest shows up dead on the beach and the groom seems to be hiding more than just cold feet, I need to take my chef’s hat off and don my deerstalker once again.Who was this mysterious stranger that came to town claiming to be a long lost relative, and why is she now dead? Who is the groom … Who is the groom really, and are his intentions for my friend pure?
Deceit—like revenge—may be a dish best served cold, but I’m not quite sure any of us have the stomach for it. Wedding bells are ringing, but might they also be the death knell? And is the killer really going to be satisfied with just one victim when two could be twice as nice?
Oh, dear. Pip and I certainly have our work cut out for us this time…

Enjoyable cozy mystery. Loving this series and the characters so far. Dishing Up Deceit is definitely full of deceit, and secrets, even amongst those closest to Dani and Pip. Looking forward to more from this series.
Heiress Sue Ellen Baer is suddenly engaged to Wilson Lowe, who she met on an online dating site a few months earlier, and has asked Dani and Lily to cater the reception. Wilson seems like a nice enough man, but Sue Ellen is showing signs of cold feet, so Dani and Maggie start looking into his background.
Dani and Rose are also startled by the intrusion of one Ivy Mackenzie, who claims to be a long-lost relative. She takes a beach stroll shortly after her arrival, but is found with a knife buried in her back — a knife from Sea Breeze, Rose and Dani’s home.
Dani and Maggie unearth a lot of dirt about Ivy, but next to nothing about Wilson. However, Pip doesn’t like Lowe and didn’t like Mackenzie, so Dani knows something’s off-kilter, especially when Wilson pushes to move up the wedding.
And Luke wants to talk to Dani.
A woman, claiming to be Rose’s long lost relative, shows up on the door step at Sea Breeze, and before the morning she’s dead on the beach, stabbed with a kitchen knife from Rose and Dani’s kitchen. Dani, Pip and Maggie are quickly on the case, followed by the ever diligent and frequently miffed Officer AJ.
Dishing Up Deceit is the third of the Little Dog Diner stories and it features all of the Blueberry Bay characters I’ve come to know and love, always finding time to pitching in to help solve the latest murder while planning weddings, social events and the menu for the Diner. Lovable characters, an idyllic, small town setting and lots of sleuthy action make this cozy mystery a real delight to read.
This story has more fun and murder. This time everyone is dishing up lies, including our beloved Rose. Sue Ann is getting married to a man she met online, named Wilson. Wilson seems all sweet on Sue Ann. Ivy Bowman comes to town and gets murdered on the beach. Dani is beside her self when Rose keeps lying to her, and her best friend is hiding something from her. I found myself engrossed in the mystery, but this time I was 100 percent correct from the 3rd chapter who the murderer is. Still finding out I was correct was satisfying and all the fun the story has getting there.
Dani and her grandmother, Rose, get an uninvited guest who soon winds up murdered on the beach. In addition, Dani and her business partner/best friend are preparing food for a friend’s wedding but it seems that the groom has something to hide. Can Dani solve the mysteries and prove her grandmother’s innocence before it’s too late?
I’m really enjoying this series and this book is no exception. Well-written with well-rounded characters, this book drew me in from the beginning and kept me hooked until the end. It was a fun and enjoyable read. I look forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. Dani is getting ready to help a friend get married and is surprised when an unexpected visitor is found dead. Yet again she and her dog, Pip, find themselves following the trail of clues to figure out what happened. This was an entertaining story and I would read others by this author.
I think this book is the best of the series so far. Dani and friends are back for more sleuthing when yet another murder rocks Misty Harbor. There are plenty of twists and turns and the story moved at a decent pace. To me, the murderer was obvious but it didn’t detract from the story. Each book in this series is a standalone but the series is better read in order since the characters are recurring and their lives evolve as the story progresses.
I liked this a little better than the first 2. It is a little funnier with Pip. The mystery part I didn’t figure out till the end. There is also a surprise to the end that makes me anxious to read the next book. I received an ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
Trying to figure out the guilty person/party is 1/2 the fun of these stories, the other half is hanging out with Blueberry Bay town folk.
I like how Sue Ellen can be herself (at least after a nap) no matter what life throws at her.
Learning more about Rose’s past as well as Spencer’s helps the puzzle fit into place better. Giving the reader more background info on how certain lives intertwine.
Lily’s news gives me mixed feelings, happy for her and yet sad. I didn’t appreciate Rose’s secrets, but that is probably because they hit too close to home lately.
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Luke, Dani, her new employees Chad and Christy and of course Pip.
It was good to visit Blueberry Bay and Misty Harbor again. Little Dog Diner, Grandma Rose, Dani, Lily, Luke and Pip are a formidable package. Once again Emmie Lyn puts together just the right combination of characters, twist, mystery and romance. I enjoyed this story.
This time around Dani and Pip still make a great amateur detective team. I enjoyed catching up with in the community. The mystery plot was a little too busy this time and didn’t come together as clean as the previous book. It was also kind of obvious whodunnit. Love the romantic ending, though. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
An enjoyable cute fun read. A wedding and the beach an inspiration location that makes if fun.
I volunteer to read an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Dani and Lily are busy taking care of Sue Ellen’s sudden wedding on Saturday. But when an strange woman shows up at Breeze Sea claiming to be a distant relative everything get out of control with a dead body at the sea, suspiciously behaviour from Sue Ellen’s fiancé, a dangerous sister and a ring. Can Dani solve the mystery before it’s too late? Charming as always.
A wedding, groom hiding secrets and a body that washes up on the beach. Will the wedding go through or will they find out that the groom is hiding alot of secrets and is he really who he says he is. From chef to murder solving sure keeps her busy with everything. Grab your copy today and enjoy the wedding with lots of twist and turns.
I thoroughly enjoyed the third book in this series. The author instantly pulled me into the drama, deception, lies and murder. All of that is surrounded by food and a cute Jack Russell terrier named PIp.
The story is suspenseful, had loads of twists and turns and just as many suspects including Dani’s own grandmother, Rose. I loved the surprise ending. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review
This is another adventure with Dani and Pip. There’s a body found on the beach. This book has drama, suspense, romance, twists and turns. Very entertaining . I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.
Dishing Up Deceit is another adventure in Blueberry Bay. Long lost relatives appear; a wedding is planned; .lies are told (not just by the criminals); and a body is found on the beach. Will Dani, Rose, Pip and the rest of the Blueberry Hill residents solve this one before another body is found? With plot twists and suspects galore, this is another good mystery set in Blueberry Bay.
An easy read for an afternoon that is funny and quick. There is another mystery around Dani and her grandma Rose that needs solving. Along with her dog Pip, Dani sticks her nose into things with results that are both good and bad. There are numerous characters that have different personalities so no worries on confusing them. It’s easy to figure out who the murderer is but the fun of the book is between all the characters.
This book is full of twists and turns and will keep you guessing until the end. This series just keeps getting better.
Loved it!!! Surprises are good!!! Keeps getting better!!!
