Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again. After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side. All I wanted was for him to come back to me.Then, Jackson Emery appeared. He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my … A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.
We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.
Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.
I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.
When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.
Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.
I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch…
I prayed for him to be mine.
Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

A stunning must read book!
I have no words for the absolute beauty that Brittainy C. Cherry writes on these pages! I’m astounded by the emotions this book makes me feel! This story is so heartbreaking yet powerful and tells a tale of grief, pain, loss, anger, addiction, soul searching, change, love and healing! I felt this book deep in my soul and loved every single word written! This author is amazing at pouring out the souls of her characters on every page and making us feel their emotions! Phenomenal book!
The should be’s or should do’s. The misplaced feeling that you have to do or say or be what others expect. To care more about what others think than you yourself do. To not know yourself. To be lost in so much pain or anger. To just be lost.
Finding that one person who makes you fly…makes you soar. To self-discovery. To loving yourself. To feel and give love to someone who fills your heart, completes you. To the beauty and peace within. To forgiveness; of yourself and others.
Disgrace took me on a beautiful journey into one’s self.
WOW!! What a truly fantastic book. Bittainy Cherry is hit or miss for me, but this is definitley a hit. I thought Grace was going to be weak and pathetic. Boy was I wrong. My heart broke in a million different ways for Jackson and Grace. Their triumph in the end made the journey so worth it. I cannot reccommend this enough.
Always and always….
Brittainy has a magic about her. She can take ordinary words and weave them in to a story so full of heartbreak and sadness. So full of hope and redemption. Her talent amazes me. Every time I open one of her books, I tell myself “There is no way she can top her last masterpiece”. But she does, every story better than the last. She has a God given talent for stories and she honors her readers by sharing them with us.
Disgrace is the story of Jackson and Gracelyn, it’s also a story about so much more than just the two of them. It is truly a story of fate. They had connections that the two of them had no idea of. It was kismet, ture kismet.
There are so many beautiful sayings in this book, so many precious passages. You have to savor this story. It’s going to make you cry, repeatedly…but it’s also going to make you smile, it will make swoon…Jackson is true romantic, buried deep in his soul. This story is going to give you all the feels. And that is a true testament to the great writing style of Ms. Cherry!
Gracelyn is just as her name is. She is grace, she is beauty and even when she feels like she cannot breathe fully, she finds solace with Jackson and she finally learns who she is.
If you haven’t read a book by Ms. Cherry, you are doing yourself a grave disservice. This is a must read of epic proportions. This story will be in the running of my favorite reads of 2018. If I could give this more than “five” stars, I so would!
Thank you Brittainy, thank you for sharing your worlds, your stories and your words with us!
Disgrace is another outstanding, emotionally charged and gripping read written by the very talented Brittainy Cherry. She evoked so many feelings and emotions from me. Disgrace is a story of love, healing, sacrifice and courage.
Jackson and Grace’s story takes place in a small town in Georgia where everyone knows everyone’s business and the rumor mill is very high. Their story reminds me of Beauty and The Beast. On paper, they are completely wrong for each other. Jackson is very dark, angry, broken and has a very damaged past. He’s viewed as trash, a loser, the town monster and hated by all. He’s not concerned in the least as to what people think of him or how he’s perceived. Grace is the beloved town princess and the daughter of a minister. The family reputation and perception to others means everything especially to her mother. Grace is sweet, kind, a people pleaser and amazingly resilient. Something devastating happens to her which is why she returns home and she’s struggling big time. During this time, she develops an odd friendship with Jackson. Ms. Cherry did an excellent job with their character development and I adored reading the banter between these two and reading how their relationship grew into such a beautiful and meaningful romance.
Their story more than demonstrates that opposites attract. However, their relationship certainly was not without difficulty and there were some heartbreaking and tearful moments. I loved everything about them from beginning to end. They really and truly deserved each other. Ms. Cherry’s words and this story are just brilliant. Disgrace resonated with me as does all of her books. Disgrace is everything and more than five star worthy.
This author never fails me with her writing, the characters she brings to life and the emotions that pour from the pages through her words. Disgrace was a joy to read, even through the tears, I loved how these characters developed and brought out the strength in each other.
We meet Grace as her life is falling apart, her husband has left her, she’s forced to return to her small home town and her parent’s home. The same home town as her husband and his new girlfriend. She finds herself soon caught up as the favourite topic in the small town gossip as the Pastor’s daughter comes home as she has.
Jackson I loved, he is a completely closed off character that learnt betrayal early in life and it has moulded the man he has become. Until Grace.
I loved that these two didn’t even see what was obvious, that they were so stinking cute together and perfect for each other. Mainly because they were too concerned with those town gossips that I wanted to smack at every turn. And determined that this was just a fling.
Another emotional must read from Ms Cherry. Add it to your TBR today.

Mary –
Grace Harris is heading back home after her 15-year marriage has failed. She doesn’t understand how it could have happened but deep in her heart, she knows. After all they had been through, he found comfort in someone else’s arms but could not comfort his wife. So, the marriage is over. Now, Grace is going back home to small town USA where her father is the town minister and her family is treated like royalty. Grace just wants to move on from Finn and his betrayal and for her job to start in Atlanta.
Jackson Emery is the town bad boy. Everyone talks about him and his father and all the whole town wants is for them to leave. But Jackson can’t leave without his father and his father isn’t leaving. So, the people talking are ignored by the Emery men as they continue to work on cars in the family-owned auto repair shop.
Can Grace and Jackson help each other heal and live a better future? Will Jackson and his dad ever move from Chester? Will Grace get her mother to understand what happened to end her marriage? Is there a future for Grace and Jackson?
I am going to stop talking (or typing) now, I don’t want to give anything away. But I will say if you have or have not read anything from Brittainy C. Cherry, you need to read this one. Just be prepared, it is an emotional rollercoaster from the very first page and doesn’t let up until the end. It has all the feels and then some to make this an awesome story and it will leave you wanting more. So get your favorite drink, a comfy blanket, a quiet corner, and read it, you will not be disappointed. I hope you love it as much as I did.

Intense! Reading this book was like riding a rollercoaster, what a workout! This book is beautiful, complicated, deeply emotional and very moving. There are so many layers, many interpretations you can take from this book. It was a little heavy on emotions at times, but this is the kind of book I like, when the characters start broken and evolve, find forgiveness or redemption, then start fixing the cracks in their hearts.
Grace’s marriage to Finn broke under the pressure of too many miscarriages and their inability to unite under the grief. They drifted apart and the sale of their house broke the final tether that united them. She goes back home for the summer, reluctant to face the gossip mill of a little town, and worse, her mother. There are so many things to discuss about, like the idiosyncrasies of a southern small town that is dominated by a church, where the preacher and his family are like the town royalty. The preacher’s wife is like the queen of the town, epitomizing elegance, perfect behavior, the organizer of many charitable events, and a hypocrite in her soul. The charity, empathy, desire to see the good in others, desire to help those less fortunate is absent in this woman. The children of the preacher, dubbed PK (preacher’s kid), are expected to have perfect manners, above approach behavior, dress elegantly and decorously. Grace and her sister are under their mother’s thumb, who is a gracious socialite, but in the house is a controlling harridan. The father is kind but clueless about his wife’s machinations. She’s his rock, handles the church many activities and he relies on her, blindly.
Jackson is broken since he was a little boy. His mother left him and his father to run away with another man. His father succumbed under the grief and took to the bottle. Now dubbed Crazy Mike, he’s the town drunk, mocked, laughed at, abused by kids, abhorred by polite society. Nobody ever lifted a hand to help him or Jackson at their hour of grief. Jackson succumbed to drugs and his uncle came to town to help him rise above the wreckage of their life. Now they work in an auto shop and deal with Crazy Mike.
Grace broke when she learned that her husband cheated on her with her best friend and got her pregnant. Autumn gave Finn what she tried many times and failed at, a baby. Grace and Jackson met under the worst of circumstances but incredibly, they connected in their loneliness and despair. They gave each other hope and possibilities. Grace only felt complete when she was with Jackson, and Jackson learned to smile, laugh and joke with Grace. It was a summer of redemption and lust, and they filled each other’s voids of loneliness, support and hopelessness. And also great sex! They surged like a couple and it was grand to read about.
Everyone evolved in this book, there are a lot of surprises, and a feel good about the turns that life takes. Some characters had hidden depths that were only discovered when life turned everything upside down. I was enthralled by this book and it many nuances of emotions. It even made me cry many times, because it’s just so beautifully emotional. Not a beach read, but a great read for a rainy day.

What can I say about this author…
What can I add to all those amazing reviews…
This was a beautiful love story, filled with so much heartaches, tragedies, but love beneath it all…
I loved everything: Jackson’s darkness and decimated heart, Grace’s kindness, all those stories and characters in the background.
Even the less lovable characters have a side you learn to appreciate or at least understand, in some way…
I read DISGRACE in one day. I just couldn’t put it down.
I may have wanted a little more near the end, but I think my real “issue” was that I didn’t want to leave Oscar and his Princess.
Grab this book, it’s an emotional roller-coaster, but it’s so worth the angst!!

Let me start by saying that this book knocked me on my emotional ass. It was powerful. It was beautiful. And it hurt my heart in the best way possible—I was just complete and utterly moved. I loved every high and every low in Disgrace. It gave me as much hope, love and happiness, as it gave me heartache, grief and despair. All of the emotions were just bleeding off the pages and it was exactly what I didn’t know I needed at the time.
“Love was a messy emotion that didn’t walk a straight line. It worked in waves and loops of ups and downs. It was a screwy emotion that could somehow still exist amidst the ultimate heartbreak and betrayal.”
I loved that Jackson Emery was indeed a gentle monster. I loved seeing his softer, more vulnerable side the more Grace got to know him and peel off his tougher layers. It made me melt deep inside and want to cuddle him forever. He was complicated and so broken, and there were definitely times he was a jerk to Grace, but he was real. The more you uncover his past and all the things he’s been through—the more you understand him—there’s no chance you won’t fall for this guy.
And Gracelyn Mae Harris—I just adored her golden heart. She deserves rainbows and butterflies and everything this life has to offer. She always saw the goodness in others and held onto hope, even when they failed her. And the fact that she made the effort of breaking through to Jackson and even his father immediately made her a winner in my book. From then on, these two just had my heart on a stronghold and never let go.
“Maybe sometimes hearts have to skip in order to keep beating.”
Grace and Jackson’s love is one that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on you—on your heart and on your soul. It’s one that was hard-fought and truly well-deserved. And it wasn’t just their relationship that will have you holding onto your chest for dear life—it was literally every single relationship Brittainy has touched on in this emotionally poignant tale. It wasn’t solely about love and passion, but it was also about forgiveness and second chances.
“If you ever fall in love again, please let it be with me.”
This is what I absolutely admire about this author’s writing—she makes an intensely gut-wrenching and heartwarming romance novel into something that’s so much more. Disgrace packs a punch that’s enough to bring you to your knees, fall in love, and at the same time, learn so much life lessons from it. It already goes without saying it, but Brittainy slayed the crap out of this book. She touched every corner, every crevice, and every fiber of my being with Grace and Jackson’s tale. She created a story of love, friendship and hope, and took it up a notch on a whole other level.
Needless to say, I’m beyond addicted to the way I feel drunk and high on all of the feels Brittainy C. Cherry’s words leave me in every single time. There’s just something about her words that crack my heart wide open and leave my soul weeping. If you’ve read this author before, then you damn well know what I’m talking about. If you want to be flooded with emotions you’ll feel deep in your bones, then this book is for you.
It has been a long time since I have felt such powerful feelings when reading a journey!!
“Choose me today, and I’ll choose you tomorrow…”
These two … just wow. The story of Grace and Jackson is not something I’ve never read before but yet it felt new and refreshing. When you read as much as I do, you’re bound to bump into similar stories/different names journeys. This story felt familiar to me but yet fantastically new at the same time. That’s on the author. Her talent is insurmountable. Her stories sneak up on you. The overwhelming heart and struggle to each of her stories is awe-inspiring to me.
Thinking back now I am even more amazed at how this story unfolded. I keep thinking of things I want to tell you guys about the book but then I smile to myself and think … nah, they should experience that with the blindness I did. Every step that Jackson and Grace took in life, led them to their present. Their lives were bound to interlock sooner or later. It was just a matter of time. They didn’t know it. WE didn’t know it. But they were kismet, ”always and always”.
Disgrace is not just about Grace and Jackson finding each other and living happily ever after. It’s the story of Jackson breaking the bonds of the past to live his future. It’s the story of Grace learning who she is and who she wants to be based on her own wants and needs. It’s a story of growth and freedom just as much as a story of love and friendship and family. It’s just incredible ….
Well, I’ve done it again. I’ve found another book to work its way on to my top reads of 2018 list. Disgrace didn’t just exceed my expectations, it blew them out of the waters and it brought me to my knees. Disgrace is hands down one of the most powerful reads I’ve encountered this year and is one that I know will be staying with me long past THE END….
There are moments in each one of our lives that will test us. Moments that will bring us to our knees and moments that will have us questioning just how much more we can endure. And for Gracelyn, she is about to that test. You see, when she married, she married for keeps. She wanted nothing more than to be the perfect wife and give her husband the life he always wanted. But, life had other plans and when things were bleak, her husband turned to another, destroying Grace in ways she could never imagine. And when Grace returns to her childhood home, she still has hope that her life can be fixed. And then Jackson entered her life. Jackson was everything that Grace should stay away from. If the rumors were to be believed, no good could come from associating with Jackson. But, beneath the rumors and his rough exterior stood a man worth getting to know; a man worth fighting for. Jackson wasn’t supposed to make her laugh. He wasn’t supposed to make her smile. He wasn’t supposed to piece her back together. But when Grace’s heart begins to beat again, all bets are off….
Wow. Wow. Wow. I am at such a loss for words. I was prepared for an emotional read, but boy did I not see this book coming. I was consumed by this story from the very first page. My heart ached for Grace and all that she lost. Her story is not easy. It’s painful and filled with betrayal. And when she returns home to heal, the small town gossips run wild. With a smile on her face and a big heart, Grace tried to do what was best. She tried to do the right thing, to be the perfect person, but everyone has a breaking point. And for Grace, I think her breaking point was the best thing to ever happen to her. It woke her up. It made her take chances. It forced her to discover who Grace really was. It opened her eyes to the ugliness of rumors and made her stand up for herself. And just when Grace was about to give up on love, she was presented with Jackson. Now, Jackson is the kind of man that your parents warn you about. He’s gruff, moody and has a terrible reputation. He’s known as the town monster. But, let me tell you, there is so much more to this man that meets the eye. He is the kindest, sweetest, most swoon-worthy man ever. You just have to break down his walls in order to see it. Together, Jackson and Grace shouldn’t work. They are so opposite, but somehow they just mesh. Their broken souls call out to each other and their connection is one that can not be denied. I love, love, loved watching these two navigate their way to a hea. I loved watching them grow and fall in love and be who they were always destined to be. Their path to hea definitely wasn’t an easy one, but man was the journey ever worth it. I just couldn’t get enough of their story and couldn’t help but hold my breath as I was reading through the pages.
Disgrace isn’t just a story about love or second chances. It’s a story about growth and self discovery. It’s a story of pain and loss. It is a story of betrayal and healing. It is a story that will work itself into your heart and will hold on tight. It is emotional and heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. It is a story that will bring tears to your eyes and that will have you hoping you wore waterproof mascara that day. It is a story that once you start it, you won’t be able to put it down. A story that will have you rooting for second chances, true love and happily ever afters. A story that will stay with you long after THE END.
I have never connected with a story or characters the way I have with Disgrace. I hope that you will take this journey and that you will fall in love with Jackson and Gracelyn as I have.
Zoom in…
Once you zoom in, you realize we are all similar in so many ways. We all bleed red and even monster’s hearts can break. Just got to remember to always zoom in.
Brittainy Cherry can write a book like no other!!! Takes everyday people and their love and heartbreak…wraps it up in a novel that you cant stop reading. So many ah ha moments in her book that not only gives you the right feelings but opens your eyes to seeing life in a better way.
They’re gonna bleed you out till you’re nothing and then they’re gonna ask how you died.
That is life… The people who are the first to run to you to find out what is happening in your life, they are always the first ones to run their mouth. Spreading the rumors, talking about you like you are an imagination. With Grace, she was raised the PC (Preachers Child) and was always expected to let everything roll off her shoulders. Sit up, hold your head higher and let it go. For goodness sakes, her father was the preacher…cant let rumors bring down the church and all that her father and his father and his father worked so hard building.
Every person deserves a haven. A place they can go to breathe fresh air, because sometimes life can be toxic.
Jackson has been living the dark life for quite some time. Snapping that wrist band, taking the sledge hammer to the junk cars out back. Vowing to not break sobriety. Although the feeling he got when he was using was outstanding, once you came down, you still were in the dark.
I just imagined that a man who was that built upstairs couldn’t be that built down below.
Grace and Jackson are from two different lifestyles. Yet they couldn’t be more alike and better for each other. The families hate each other and have raised their children to hate each other. But does anyone know the reason behind all the hatred these families hold against each other?
Absolutely LOVED this book! As with all of this authors books, you are sucked in and held hostage until you finish. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath and I shook my head. This book gave me everything I need in a book.

Grace has been in love with Finn since she was 15 years old. Now she’s 30 and he’s leaving her for another woman. He fell out of love with her after she stepped out of life for a bit after their miscarriages. He just couldn’t do it anymore. But she still loves him. She hopes that she can spend the summer back in their home town convincing him to come back to her. But she’s not so sure anymore after she sees who his new girlfriend is.
And also … the whole town has something to say/gossip about every little thing in her life – the typical life of a pastor’s daughter.
And then she meets Jackson.
Jackson used to be a sweet and adorable boy full of love for his parents and his dog.
And then his mom left when he was only 10 and his dad became a sad and mean drunk.
Now he’s the town bad boy running his dad’s car repair shop.
He’s not doing love. He never will.
But Grace – rich girl – pastor daughter – Grace …. she intrigues him and infuriates him. She’s the poster child for everything that’s wrong in this little town. The royal pastor princess. Thinking she’s so much better than his dad and him. But the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes she’s not like her mother and the other town idiots.
She’s only here for the summer and still in love with her ex – maybe he can have a few nice months with her ….
But what if hearts are getting involved?
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO GRACE & JACKSON??
WILL THERE BE A HAPPY END?

OY!
This book was amazing!
Just like with all of Brittainy’s books, I cried a lot! A LOT! I almost drowned reading the last 20%!!!
It’s all so heartbreakingly beautiful and sad and sweet and ugh. It was such an amazing story.
I just wanted to jump into the book and push Grace and Jackson into their happily ever after while hitting every single one of the town’s residents on the head with my kindle! Ugh. Churchy small towns in America are the worst! I just hate it. I hate everything religious. And this town. Those snobby and gossipy people hiding behind their ‘faith’. HORRIBLE.
Almost every page of that book had one person in it that I wanted to slap!
Grace and Jackson are so sweet and sad and broken. They would be so perfect for each other.
They would be able to heal each other and live happily ever after. But that damn town and all the people have a LOT to say to that. And also, both are not really in the market for something serious.
Ugh, I’m still not done being mad at Grace’s mom. I could hate-rant on forever …. I wanted to throw her mother out the nearest window!
Please don’t let me scare you away with all my hate-talk. The book was mega adorable and moving and sweet and full of love and hope and possible second chances.
I loved reading it SO much! AMAZING STORY!
Brittainy just knows how to get our eyes peeing!
DISGRACE was such a heartbreakingly beautiful & adorable & moving romance! So full of grief and loss and faith and hope and love and possibilites. Run to your nearest amazon – you need to get your hands on Jackson asap – he’ll be sold out in NO time!!!!!!!!
Late last year I read my first book from this author and I absolutely fell in love with her beautifully raw words. You know the kind of words that makes it impossible to breathe properly because you’ve had the air sucked right out of you. That story captivated me whole body and soul, but that is nothing compared to what happened with her newest release. I thought that story forever ruined me, but this one took the lead and took my heart with it.
Disgrace by Brittainy C. Cherry in an emotionally exhausting (in the best way possible) story that consumed me wholeheartedly right from the start. There were countless times during that I wasn’t sure I was going to survive the story swallowed me whole. I wanted to be selfish and devour it as quickly as possible, but at the same time I wanted to punish myself by savoring every single heart-wrenching and agonizing moment of it. I can’t even being to tell you how many times I had to put my kindle down because this story made me feel everything and it was as if I was experiencing the same things right along side Grace and Jackson. These two are broken souls, but together they might be able to repair one another. Their story bled from the pages and engulfed every single one of my emotions!
This was a story unlike anything I have ever read before and I must say that it is one of the best stories I’ve read this year. It is surely one that I will remember for a longtime and eventually when my heart repairs itself, or I need a good ugly cry I will certainly be reading this phenomenally unique story all over again! Too bad I don’t have the ability to reread this story and experience the same feelings for the first time all over again…
This book is about the love….
The love that is Your first crush…
The love that is You first kiss…
The love that is Your first touch…
This is the story when Your love crushing You down…
This is the story when Your love breaks heart…
This is the story when Your love can keep falling You down.
This book is about love…
This book is a story about 2 lonely hearts…
This book is about falling in love, even if You’re thinking that You don’t have a heart.
5 extraordinary stars!
Grace Harris is a gorgeous 30 yr. old woman living in Atlanta, Georgia. She’s an English teacher who grew up in the small town of Chester, Georgia. As the preacher’s daughter her family was like Chester royalty. The town had been home her entire life. Everyone knew everybody else’s business, and appearances were everything. She was taught to live her life quietly, and to always be perfect. Then her marriage falls apart. The man she thought she’d be with forever shatters her trust and breaks her heart. He walks out on her, and she feels lost and alone.
Grace heads home to Chester for the summer to be with her family. She’s drowning in heartache and can’t seem to catch a break. She needs time to heal but it seems she’s delivered one devastating blow after another. Her life is a mess and she’s in need of kindness. She finds it in the most unexpected place, with the black sheep of the town, Jackson Emery. Known as the bad seed of Chester, he’s damaged, dark, and closed off. He was known to be trouble, and learned to accept the judgement’s of the town. He even decided to take on the role he was given. He didn’t care what people thought of him. He carried hate and anger inside his heart. He lost everything that mattered to him as a child, and was now hollow inside. He’d developed a tough skin over the years, and tried to ignore the small town gossips of Chester.
Grace continues to cross paths with Jackson, and soon see’s traces of a gentler side. He seems to always appear during her worst moments, and even though he can be abrasive, he shows glimpses of compassion. They share a mutual sadness, and have more in common than they realize. They become each others escape as they engage in a summer fling. He doesn’t believe in relationships, and she no longer believes in love. With Grace leaving at the end of the summer they could enjoy some temporary fun together.
Jackson becomes the only person who doesn’t make Grace feel like she has to pretend to be something she’s not. He reminds her that even in the darkest of times there was light. Everyone thought he wasn’t right for her, but she begins to look forward to his smiles, his laugh, and his touch. Her heart begins to feel again, and the only thing in her life that made any sense anymore was Jackson. He goes from a wonderful distraction to her haven, her safe place. She finally feels like she can breathe again, and like she’s where she’s meant to be. Will she walk away when the time comes, or will she take a chance on love?
I always think every book Brittainy writes is my favorite, and then she goes and does it again. She blows my mind with her unforgettable stories, and her words always speak to my heart and make me feel so much! I adored this book, and yes, it is now my new favorite! ;)) It was everything I was hoping for and more. It’s emotional, sexy, passionate, and inspirational. It’s about second chances, love, loss, and self discovery. It’s about how we grow and evolve, and about knowing your self worth, and your inner strength. Two broken people find happiness and comfort in one another, but also within themselves. It’s a stunningly beautiful love story, but also a story about finding yourself. I loved seeing Grace’s journey from the woman she was, to the woman she becomes. This was an easy 5 stars for me. I highly recommend it!
