And a great series marches on
This is another brilliantly thought out story in a series of great plots. This story is full of emotional twists and turns, and the characters are crafted to overcome their obstacles with plenty of determination. This is a great book for anybody who loves steamy historical romances.
Celeste and Oliver discovering more then the stars and planets.
A delightful engaging story. As Celeste and Oliver find they have more then research and maps of the constellations, they find true happiness with each other. This is there journey to share with you.
love this series! I can’t wait for the next book
I love a historical story where the heroine is a bluestocking and passionate about what she is interested as Celeste is with her study of astronomy. Oliver, Lord Essex, is also passionate about about the subject, but he’s betrothed to Lady Venetia who is possessive and then flirts with others. But still Oliver wasn’t free when he kissed Celeste and acted in ways that would have ruined her if they were discovered. He promised to break off his engagement, but then he doesn’t. And then he blames Celeste for her brother’s actions when he wasn’t being very honorable himself. I did love the rambunctious puppies Perseus and Andromeda.
Celeste loves the night sky the stars and plants draw her more than dances and balls, but being a female prevents her from claiming her finds so instead her brother submits her work as his own. Enjoying the fame that comes from his sister’s work he hatches a plan for Celeste to work for the baron on his study. Oliver is passionate when it comes to the stars and planets and is trying to prove that there is a new planet causing a star named George’s star is acting erratically because of this unknown planet. Celeste gets the job but refuses to steal Oliver’s work for her brother, so her brother steals the work from her and presents it as his own. The results aren’t good.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Another wonderful read by Ellie St. Clair! As the third book in this series, it continues the tales of these close friends who bring original plots to us to enjoy. Celeste and Oliver’s story unfolds in a thought provoking, yet romantic, way to entertain throughout the pages. I absolutely recommend this book and can hardly wait for the next one!
This is another fantastic story in the “Bluestocking Scandals” series, but it could read as standalone…
Strong women… scholars and researchers… and men who can accept them…
This is the story of Celeste and Oliver, both astronomers, in search of a new discovery in the sky… but also in their hearts?
A romance that will kept reading until the end…
4,25 STARS
Interesting story line about a women not being allowed into the man’s field of Astronomy. She is so far ahead of her brother who is lazy and just wants the credit. The brother finally gets what is coming to him so that was a comfort – lol.
I liked the H/h and their interaction with each other seemed believable. There are several interesting character’s that made the story entertaining. There is a nasty women who didn’t seem she would be interested in the man she ends up with.
This story is a tale of how women who were smart and ahead of their time couldn’t get credit for their work. I can’t imagine living in this time period and having to stifle yourself to fit into the Ton’s mood.
There is romance but a lot of talk about Astronomy. We have a few passionate kisses prior to marriage, and lovemaking I think only once within marriage and heat level 2.5 out of 5.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and a small tad of spice.
I received an advanced copy and all opinions are my own and voluntarily given. (ljb)
As an astronomer, Celeste works with her lazy brother. He wants her to work for Lord Oliver and spy on his discoveries. She refuses to do so and the couple falls in love. Good plot.
Celestial bodies, an arranged marriage and a baron.
Celeste (get it?) Keswick is fascinated by astronomy and is helping her brother identify celestial bodies.
Oliver Cunningham, Lord Essex (these two have the best book names). He’s only just noticed Celeste and her interest in night skies. Which is unfortunate because he’s already agreed to an arranged marriage his mother set up.
I enjoyed their story and the nods to Caroline and John Herschel.
Recommend.
Delightful storyline. The scientific background of the book has been covered quite nicely. This intriguing tale grabs your interest from the start and doesn’t let go until the final page. Celeste & Oliver both have a love of astronomy, which draws them towards each other. Unfortunately, outside circumstances are trying to keep them apart. This is a book you don’t want to miss.

A delightful romance with two star filled characters that would seem perfect for each other! But how to get them together?
Ellie St Clair weaves her magic with a blend of history and the romance of the era creating a delightful story that grabbed me from the start. Haven’t we all been fascinated with the stars at one time or another? Think about it being charted years ago and those planets and stars named as they were discovered and it continues even now!
Celeste is one of those astronomers that is mesmerized with the stars and is trying to find a new planet. As an astronomer, she and her brother Nicholas work together, well truth be told, she does most of the work and he gets the credit.
He comes up with a plan for Celeste to become an assistant to Lord Oliver Cunningham, who might find it first and she can help and observe.
But what she finds is a kindred spirit, who unfortunately has just agreed to an arranged marriage after his mother stresses his need to move his life forward. There is a strong attraction there and Celeste starts to feel guilty about the reason she initially became his assistant.
Can these two star gazers find one of their own? Loved this story as I do everything this author pens and I highly recommend!
The story of Celeste Keswick, a budding astronomer becomes the assistant to Lord Essex at the behest of her brother. Sent to spy on his findings and to use his powerful telescope to further her own studies. A race to declare a discovery and wrongs to right. Would either her brother or potential lover acknowledge her work? A convoluted and somewhat twisted tale of discovery of love and a new planet. An enjoyable read.
I received an ARC copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
ONE EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY!!!
Off the chain! Ellie never ceases to amaze me as she tosses out this electrifying, sensational, brilliantly composed thrilling storyline and engaging plot, wrapping this baby up sleek shiny and tight. She spins this beauty so intricately precise, weaving a cocoon around us, drawing us deeper into her web until everything else ceases to exist. Cognizant of the instant realization and charged atmosphere, along with a bevy of stunning twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces, ratcheting up the heat and magic, pulling them closer than they could have ever imagined. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this bad boy into a raging tempest, blasting it into a tailspin with a life-changing realization. Rolling with the drama, intrigue, turmoil, underlying threats, secrets, deception, mounting suspense, rocks this piece of perfection with precarious situations along with a boatload of confusion while dodging trouble, you have one mind-blowing masterpiece. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that transform into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job Ellie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
This is the 3rd book in the series, The Bluestocking Scandals, but it is a standalone book. This series is about smart women who have unique (for the time period) skills. Celeste is one of those women. She is an astronomer and loves her work. She meets Oliver who is also an astronomer. They both have a theory and started working together. The problem is what happens when you meet the one person you believe you are destined to be with, but they are committed to someone else. I have to tell you this was not one of my favorite books by Ellie St. Clair, I just cannot put my finger on why, but something did not click with the two main characters, I think the book was missing some chemistry from them.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Another well written book by the author, it’s the third in the series & it could easily be read on its own. It was another fun, enthralling read which I loved. Celeste is the bluestocking astronomer who is a whiz with numbers & likes nothing better than stargazing. Oliver is also obsessed with stargazing so the pair had a firm foundation for their growing attraction. I loved how Oliver respected Celeste’s ideas & calculations & wanted for her to be acknowledged. There were plenty of secrets & misunderstandings which nearly derailed their romance but wise counsel & ‘doing what was right’ saved the day. I didn’t like Nicholas but felt he got his just desserts with his forthcoming marriage. I look forward to the final bluestocking having her HEA
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Ellie St. Claire writes sweet historical romance. Celeste is a bluestocking with a fascination with astronomy. She doesn’t consider herself beautiful and would rather not be out socializing. Oliver is a Baron who prefers the stars to people. He has found himself dutifully engaged to a woman he doesn’t want to be around. Circumstances bring them together and they find they share more than just an interest in solving a problem in the planets. They have to resolve misunderstandings and open up to each other about their feelings as well. There are puppies involved and lots of stargazing that lead to special discoveries.
Spoiler’s in the following
This is the second book in the Bluestocking Scandals series. I always love reading one of Ellie St Clairs books because I learn something new beside reading a great story. This time it is Astronomy. Miss Celeste Keswick is the only daughter to Mr Keswick who made a fortune in imports and exports.
She is an unusual miss for this time period as she obsession is with astronomy. She doesn’t like balls and really bad at dancing. But she is a wiz at numbers and calculations. She is sure a new star has something wrong with it. Her brother Nicholas, is a very devious person, letting her do all the work so he can get the recognition and praise from the Astronomical Society. He wants to be the one who figures out what is wrong with George’s Star. Celeste was looking at the stars during a ball when she is surprised by Lord Oliver Cunningham. He is also trying to find out what is wrong with the same star.
Poor Celeste is use to being put down for her knowledge by most men of the times. She is so attracted to Oliver cause he is not only the most handsome man she has talked too but he listened when she talked about the star. Oliver is very taken when he meets Celeste looking at the starts instead of dancing and enjoying the ball. This is the first woman he has meet that understands what he is talking about.
Now things really get interesting when Nicholas gets Celeste a job helping Oliver ! Oliver is betrothed to one Lady Venetin who is a beautiful polished lady and great dancer. Everything society feels a lady should be.
As Celeste and Oliver work on their calculations and attraction to each other . Nicholas has meet Venetin and they both like the good life with little work involved.
Also we have Oliver’s butler and Celesta’s maid also working on their own attraction.
Let us not forget one of the most important and fun characters, the puppy Perseus.
I loved this book with it’s many twist and turns, sadness and joy.
Be sure to get your copy and enjoy…
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I alway look forward to the books in this series because I know I am going to learn something new – this time it was astronomy. The story & characters were still full of romance but I enjoyed looking at the stars with them.
Miss Celeste Keswick is a bluestocking with a romantic heart but her obsession with astronomy will never be approved by any gentleman & she will not give it up, so she will remain unwed. She has experienced too many gentlemen’s disapproval when she begins talking calculations & constellations – they realize she would not be marriage material & she will not give up her passion. Celeste & her older brother have been working on the discovery of a new star but she has done the work & he will take the credit, since a woman would never be recognized or believed to have the skills for the discovery.
Lord Oliver Cunningham, Baron of Essex, is responsible for his mother and sister & must see their way through all the society functions but his true interest lies in astronomy and his present work on discovery the exact location of a new star. He has come of age that he needs to marry and rather than having to go through the courting ritual, he agrees to have his mother find his betrothed. Family friends of his family have a daughter & she is now his betrothed – they have little in common, she has no interest in his astronomy studies but she will do for what he needs.
Celeste’s brother talks to Oliver & convinces him he needs an assistant to help him – he tell Oliver he can no longer afford to pay his assistant & he recommends them highly. Oliver agrees to meet with the assistant since they are all working toward the same discover & perhaps in sharing information, it will help narrow down the location of the star. Celeste’s brother wants her to steal information from Oliver so he may (with her work) get credit for the discovery. Oliver is shocked to see the assistant is a lady & she is Keswick’s sister but he knows how intelligent she is so they agree to work together. The chemistry between them grows, the excitement of discovery of a new star keeps you turning pages – will she tell her brother Oliver’s discoveries, will he marry the woman arranged for him to marry? I highly recommend the read – it takes you away from the ballrooms and into the heavens!
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
An enchanting story of astronomical proportions with a love match, a deceiving brother, a lie, revealing the truth and so much more
