Well the plot thickens! Blaise and Seraphine bring new meaning to kissing cousins! I absolutely adored this book! It will have you reading into the night. I do not want to give anything away, and it is definitely best to go into this book blind. I cannot wait for book three to see what she does with Pascal! Love the twists in this story! 5 stars
Disarm follows on from Discretion but it is Seraphine’s point of view.
A fabulous book as I knew it would be! I could not put it down! I really enjoyed Blaise’s character and like Seraphine I wasn’t sure on whether or not he could be trusted. But wow! The chemistry between these two! Hot!
I have loved the storyline with these 2 books and I am hoping there will somehow be a book about the 3rd brother as he is a mystery and I would love to know his story.
* I recommend that you read Discretion before Disarm.
Appearances can be deceiving. That’s especially true for the Dumont family, from the outside they have it all, a very successful fashion house in Paris and everything that comes with it, fortune and fame included. From the inside of the family tragedy and betrayal are everywhere. Seraphine’s grieving the loss of her father who she believes was murdered by his own brother. Needing to know the truth, she becomes a target herself. Feeling alone in the world again since both of her parent’s deaths and her brothers living on a different continent she doesn’t know who she can trust. Blaise has quietly loved Seraphine from afar most of their lives. Knowing to be with her would complicate an already messy complicated situation his actions and words to her range from indifferent to mean. Blaise himself is suspicious of his father’s involvement in his uncle’s death. He just has to convince Seraphine that he’s on her side, and always has been despite his past actions.
In Discretion, we’re left at the end with the bomb that Seraphine believes that her father was murdered. In Disarm we have Seraphine and Blaise working together to find the truth. This book has a little bit of a forbidden element in that Blaise and Seraphine are cousins by name only, Seraphine was adopted by the Dumont’s when she was 9. Disarm has more twists, turns, and revelations than Discretion, and more of the suspense element. I really felt for Seraphine, essentially becoming an orphan all over again with her father’s death, feeling completely alone again and not knowing who to trust. Blaise, I hated him during some of the flashback scenes, the way he treated Seraphine, but at the same time, I understand that he felt trapped. I was glad to see the differences in him as an adult, doing the right thing and standing up for Seraphine despite the consequences. Overall I enjoyed this book, it was great suspense, I can’t wait to see what Karina Halle does in the third.
