From author Stacey Kennedy comes Dirty-Talking Cowboy, the first book in the Kinky Spurs series Emma Monroe has returned to River Rock, Colorado, after the death of her grandmother. Now she’s inherited a farm full of abused animals and she’s working as a waitress at the local hotspot, Kinky Spurs. The last thing Emma wants in her life is a man, as she’s still recovering from a recent heartbreak. … from a recent heartbreak. But when a sensual and powerful cowboy, Shep Blackshaw enters her life, Emma begins to want things she shouldn’t.
Shep knows sex shouldn’t be on his mind. He’s got a world of responsibility on his shoulders. He’s attempting to save his late father’s cattle ranch, Blackshaw Cattle Company, from foreclosure. But Emma’s heated reactions to his touch make ignoring her impossible. She’s the perfect distraction to make him forget that his father’s company is a sinking ship.
While their nights only heat up, soon emotions become tangled into the mix. Shep’s not only giving Emma the hottest nights of her life, he’s also healing her heart. With every encounter, she forgets her heartbreak. With every naughty adventure, she stops mourning the life she left behind. And with every dirty word whispered from Shep’s mouth, she stops thinking of all the reasons why she shouldn’t fall for him. But when the past comes to claim Emma, she’ll need to choose between the life she thought she wanted and the life she’s grown to love with Shep. How will she say no to forever with a dirty-talking cowboy.

I am a fan of Stacey Kennedy so I usually one click all her books. I normally don’t read many cowboy books, but I am glad I gave Stacey’s a shot!
Emma is a marketing exec from New York. When her grandma passes, she feels lost. She decides to visit her newly inherited farm to figure out her next move. She wasnt expecting to meet a hot cowboy.
Shep is trying to save his family’s cattle ranch from foreclosure. He should be focused on that and not the sweet little Emma and what she might sound like under him! He just can’t ignore the magnetic pull he feels around her. Soon their nights are as therapeutic as much as the sex is hot! They both feel awake when they are together. Does Emma have to leave? Can they find a way to make everything work?
I devoured this story! I loved the characters and all the secondary ones as well. Shep and Emma have some serious chemistry! I was rooting for them to find a way to get it all figured out!
I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this book from NetGalley. The rating and review are my opinion.
(3.25-3.5 stars)
This was a strong start to what I hope will continue to be an enjoyable series.
Emma is a city girl that moves to the country after inheriting her Grandmother’s farm.
Fresh out of a breakup she’s not looking for a relationship.
After Shep saves her from a life threatening accident, she decides she’s ready for a little fun.
I enjoyed Emma and Shep’s story but overall it lacked that WOW! factor.
I think it’s a good set up for Nash and Chase’s books and that the author can have some fun with those boys’ stories!
This is my first ready by Stacey Kennedy and I really liked it. A sweet cowboy romance filled with minor angst and hot erotic loving. Emma moves back to her old hometown after some things come to light form her previous job. She starts working at the local bar and meets Shep Blackshaw. The chemistry was explosive, while their problems were still present, they were able to work together and bring about a happy ending. 4 solid stars for a very well written love story. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

Emma has exiled herself to her late grandmother’s farm after quitting her job after her former boss and lover had thrown her under the bus for their romance. He had let his boss talk about her and insinuated that her promotion was due to their affair.
Shep Blackshaw likes the look of Emma, the new waitress at the Kinky Spur. He’s not sure what the city girl is doing in Colorado or how long she’s staying at her grandmother’s farm, but he knows he wants to get to know her better and once he does, he doesn’t want her leave.
The characters in this book are well written and the sparks between them jump off the page. Both Shep and Emma are complex characters and both are dealing with issues that affect more than just themselves.

M/F Romance
Emma is hurting after giving her heart to someone she thought was in a relationship with her that was equal. After learning that it wasn’t equal, or on the same level that she thought it was, she was heartbroken. Throw that on top of the fact that her grandmother has passed away and she’s kind of a mess. Emotionally, she is jumbled. She is a city girl living on a ranch and trying to take care of animals, which she doesn’t really know how to do. When she is working at the local bar, she is able to put on a brave face and interact with the locals.
When Shep walks in and sees Emma, he knows that despite everything that’s on his plate, he wants to put Emma on there too. His father has left him kind of a mess and it’s up to him and his brothers to figure out whether or not the business that has been in their family for a while is worth saving or if they should sell and get out.
Shep and Emma have sparks that mesh well together. They intrigue each other and perplex each other in equal measure. While their communication isn’t stellar, it helps create the complexities in the story. Both have things that they need to work through, but it’s only together that they will become their best versions of themselves.

This is the first book in a new series, and I have no doubt that there are more great stories to come. We are immersed in the Colorado cowboy scene from the very beginning, and it took no time at all to be centred in the location, with the key protagonists, and keen to learn more.
Emma has had her world turned upside down and as we learn how and why, it is clear that she had a lucky break that she had to come to her Gram’s farm and regroup. She is a young woman who has worked so hard for her ambitions that she has rather forgotten the beauty of the simple things, and being back where she spent her summer holidays is teaching her again. Irrespective of the wonderful romance, I found this hiatus in her rushing around to be very well written, and even when Jake looks to be about to ruin everything, she proves that she has learned the lessons about trust, love, and home.
Shep is pretty much the perfect man – certainly for Emma – and whilst he is reluctant to admit that she is his perfect woman, even to himself, he also behaves with great charm and honesty. The connection that they make is strong and true – and comes from their battered hearts.
I enjoyed the business elements, although it seemed difficult to believe that they were all so oblivious of the state of the farm business, but I enjoyed how it was turned around, and had no doubt that Emma’s skills would be engaged in the revival. The two other brothers, who will no doubt get their chance at love, are very different to Shep, so it is going to be fun watching them fall… especially Nash, as he needs bringing down a peg or two!
If you enjoy hot, sexy cowboy romances, then this will be just your thing. If you have not tried one before, then this would be a good place to start!

So there are books that I start to read then get to a point in the book that I either don’t like a character or a spot in the book and then put the book down read other ones and come back to the original book, this was one of the books. The reason I put the book down at 40% into the book was for two reasons. One reason was I found Emma to be a very whinny person and I really want to tell her suck it up buttercup as she was getting annoying. The second reason was because it hit the part where they were doing some BDSM which is fine for some people but I just didn’t want to read about it. Now weeks later when I picked the book up to finish I was pleasantly surprised. There really wasn’t any of the typical BDSM so the sex scenes were not bad to read. I still thought Emma was a whinny person, she grew on me a little but not much. Shep saved this whole book and I still think he could do better then Emma. But overall after finishing this book I did like it and would the next two in the series for Chase and Nash.
*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Let me tell ya’ll something …. Stacey Kennedy writes exceptional sexy-sexy #TRUTH I can count on one hand with fingers remaining the number of authors that hit this particular mark dead on like a bulls-eye EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. You know what else she is exceptional at? … She wraps your heart around her characters and makes you feel so damn much! GAH
Emma and Shep stole my heart from page one. And don’t get me started on Bentley *happy sigh* The story doesn’t start off really smooth, it felt off to me at times, but it quickly turned to greatness. This is not a lengthy courtship story. It’s a sexually driven inta-lust/love connection and it works for these characters very well. It’s exactly what both Emma and Shep needed in their lives. So kudos to the author for recognizing that and making sure she delivered.
I am beyond excited to get my hands on more Blackshaw men and the women who will eventually tame them 🙂 This is going to be another outstanding series by an author you can really count on to hit the marks!
When the title says dirty talker it’s not lying! WOW! Emma is dealing with the lose of her grandmother, her boyfriend and her career. Enter the dirty talking cowboy who sweeps in and turns her life upside down. He saves her life in more ways than one. You have to read this book. HAVE TO!
This is my first book by this author and it was pretty good. Low drama, good plot. Shep is a great guy and I liked Emma too. They both had some crazy sexual chemistry going on. Those two had a lot of smoking hot sexy times. Like, a lot. There’s two other brothers and I bet their books will be just as good too.
Stacey you delivered a well-written story about Emma and Shep. They had an instant connection towards each other, They both have emotional connection because of there last relationship plus there is plenty of steamy hot sex, There plenty of flirty banter between them, Cant say to much with out tell to much of the story. Just have to pre-order to day to find out when its released if Emma and Shep het there HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy from Netgalley.

I only got about 30 pages in…..too angst ridden.
I love Stacey Kennedy. She’s not afraid to appeal to the inner bad girl in her readers. Her characters lay bare every emotion from the naughty to the disillusioned and the painful. Dirty Talking Cowboy is every word we’re afraid to say, but forever lingers on our minds. It’s fun, gritty and temptingly delicious.
I liked this book more and more as I went along – while I had a hard time with Emma (I found her to be a bit wishy-washy) but I really liked Shep from the beginning and I loved the setting of Kinky Spurs and her Gram’s farmhouse/animal rescue and the Blackshaw properties. The chemistry between Emma and Shep was dynamic and the way that they helped each other deal with loss, grief, heartbreak, and upheaval was really poignant and deeply emotional. I really loved the way the book set up follow up stories about Shep’s brothers, Nash and Chase, and I can’t wait to read those! But what I really loved were the bits of life lessons and truth bombs that were scattered throughout the book – particularly this gem from about 91% percent in: “…how can you trust someone who can’t really see you?” That one line by itself is worth the cost of admission if you can learn from it and take it to heart. 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
Admittedly, I’ve never really had a thing for cowboys.
Until now.
Shep Blackshaw just changed that for me. Oh boy is this guy hot! He has this intense demeanor and this mystery to him that immediately pulls you in. But once you peel away that rough, rugged exterior this man will melt you. Not only is he passionate and loyal, but he’s also charming, sexy, and dare I say sweet. He knows how to be a gentleman and he knows his way around a bedroom.
I loved Emma! She’s had a rough few months and an escape from her life is what she needs. Though she’s a little bit broken, Emma still has faith that things will turn out the way they’re supposed to. She’s the perfect match for Shep. He’s definitely a fixer, and no one needs that more right now than Emma.
I fell in love with Shep and the rest of the Blackshaw boys in this story! I can’t wait to follow along with their journeys.
This has definitely made me look at cowboys in a whole new light!
On the day Emma learns of her Gram’s death, she also learns that the man who she believed to be her forever was not going to stand up for her. Leaving New York for a small town in Colorado, she takes over her grandmother’s farm. She has a lot of healing to do to get beyond the broken trust her ex left her with. She was not expecting to get tied up by a cowboy at Kinky Spurs.
Shep was hot to rope Emma in from the first time he saw her. When the opportunity presents itself, he grabs the reins and holds on. He’s got a lot on his plate these days after his father’s death and running his own business. Shep is a fixer and he’s determined he’s going to fix the problems that the Blackshaw Brothers have just learned about. And if she’ll let him, he’d like to help fix Emma’s problems as well.
This was a great cowboy story with plenty of interactions with horses as well as some other livestock curtesy of Emma’s Gram. I loved the way Shep stepped up to help Emma when she was in a little over her head. He has had his own heart broken and he is so patient and kind while he waits for Emma to find her way to him.
This is very well written and deeper than I originally expected it to be. While there is plenty of humor, at the core of this story is the love of family and learning to rebuild trust within yourself. Emma’s transition from fear of her own choices to determination to be what Shep needs in his woman was heartfelt.
There are secondary characters all over the place that I suspect will be getting their own stories and after reading this first installment in the series I’m curious to see how the rest is going to play out. This is my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading more from her.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 Stars
This is the first book in her new series and I’m hooked! What could be better then dirty talking cowboy with a heart of gold. I just loved the characters. Emma and Shep had so much chemistry, but you could feel the connection between them. Things between Emma and Shep get very steamy. What I loved about this book is I got a good heart warming story along with my heat. Emma is pretty much at her lowest and her Grams has one last gift to give her granddaughter. I can tell you I already love the town and I know this series is a winner because I’m already thinking about the secondary characters’ stories yet to come. I can’t wait for more from this series!
I always enjoy Stacey Kennedy’s steamy romances, and Dirty-Talking Cowboy is a great launch to her new cowboy series. Shep and Emma have great chemistry, and I love the Kinky Spurs bar. Shep is a GOOD guy with a dirty mouth, so he is pretty irresistible, especially when he works with Emma. All in all, this is an entertaining, sexy and sweet romance.
ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
Dirty-talking Cowboy is a hot and steamy introduction to Stacey Kennedy’s new Kinky Spurs series. Shep and Emma are two strong, captivating characters that have blazing hot chemistry that practically sizzles from every page as this couple engage in a red hot and passionate relationship. The relationship has its ups and downs with emotional woes which has Emma and Shep working hard to reach their happily ever after especially since both of them have no intentions of making their relationship a permanent one.
The plot is fast paced and flows smoothly keeping reader’s attention and keeping them in suspense about how this relationship will work out while keeping the heart pumping with the very steamy passion. It starts off with a scene that had me questioning whether I wanted to continue with the book, but it all comes together and after a little twist and the problems facing Shep and his brothers adds to depth of the story and ensures that I want to get to know all of them.
As usual, Stacey Kennedy does a great job of creating her worlds and bringing them to vivid life with well-developed characters that make it easy for the readers to connect with them. I enjoyed reading this sweet, heartwarming story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series which I believe is due to be released in October.
tacey Kennedy has written a refreshing story that has a lot of heart and the perfect amount of heat. Sexy and rugged blended perfectly with sweet and romantic.
Emma is a city girl through and through. She had a high-profiled job and lived in New York. To move on after a failed relationship, there is no better plan than picturesque River Rock and the hobby farm she has inherited from her grandmother.
The hero, Shep Blackwell, was a very sexy and alpha cowboy who had a very romantic streak that made this book sigh worthy! Stacey Kennedy always brings out the sexiness in her characters. I also loved how Shep was there for Emma to help her with learning the ropes of running a farm that was also a sanctuary for abused animals. The two of them together were off the charts hot. They were truly the perfect complement to each other. They both wanted to explore what was between them. Their chemistry felt genuine and while the plot was predictable the characters made it enjoyable.
Both Emma and Shep were developed as well rounded individuals, with good and bad traits. The dialogue was fun, playful and emotional. Packed with small town life, interesting characters, great family dynamics, real life issues and tender romance, this book is a great start to a new series.
This fantastic book one in the Kinky Spurs series features Emma and Shep. PHEW! I had to keep a towel close by to wipe the condensation from my overheated e-reader! Shep is HOT HOT HOT! His voice along with his description but most of all his confidence is undeniably sexy! No wonder she couldn’t resist. I can’t seem to get him out of my head now! Anyways, I admire Emma’s determination to try to do her grandmother Daisy proud. There’s some unexpected serious business happening, which makes for a deeper story.
This book has an amazing story line, with fabulous characters! ALL the Blackshaw men are seriously SEXY but Shep is the darkest emotionally. BRAVO Stacey Kennedy! You definitely know how to write a truly kick butt cowboy! I can’t wait for more.
This story was filled with emotions but for some reason it didn’t reach the top of my scale. It’s a strong 4 star read.
* Good storyline, girl flies big city after betrayal from boyfriend, comes to small town and falls for smoking hot cowboy. And the love story builds nicely.
* Characters that are realistic with insecurities and feelings like we all have. I loved that Emma and Shep communicates easily.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and lots of dialogues that makes the story come together nicely.
* The love scenes is filled with emotions and is dirty but still tasteful.
* Great world building and secondary characters I would love to hear more about.
Dirty talking cowboy indeed
