Nils and Sierra have a connection that can’t be denied but there past may hurt their future. I really enjoyed this book but Nils omg I just wanted too shake him and say look in front of you lol. There stiry was great but their ending was perfect. This whole series I really enjoyed and I can’t wait too read the next.
Steamy second chance romance. A bit of ice hockey action. Good friendships. There were some issues with grammar though; words misspelled or missing.
“I can’t let my mind stray to a pretty girl with full lips and red-framed glasses. Only, I can’t help myself because that night, she’s exactly who I dream about.”
The paths of Nils and Sierra get crossed in a somewhat peculiar way. With their parents’ marriage, they know each other but are not close. Nils doesn’t get along with his mother, blaming her for leaving him in Sweden with his abusive father. Sierra, in turn, lives with her aunt, because her egocentric and controlling father cares only for himself. And if these two have a similar family history, in terms of personality they are opposites. Nils is popular, outgoing and a sensation on the college hockey team. Sierra is introvert, shy and books are her friends. But a somewhat strange request from Nils’s mother will make them spend more time together. Nils needs to help Sierra settle down in college, make friends. And so, he becomes her fake boyfriend.
The deal was simple. He would help her be more popular and she would help him with his studies. But getting close all the time, for the sake of the lie, ends up making them friends. Until feelings arise, and Nils ends up ruining everything by not knowing how to handle it.
Years later, he is a hockey sensation. But lately, his behavior and his personal life are making the headlines more than his ice skills. His latest mess, a bathroom orgy that turns into a fight and ends with him arrested, and photos of part of his anatomy on the Internet, could be the end of his career.
And with everything upside down, a drastic adjustment should be made to his image. No more fights, drinks, women. He must control his anger and settle down. But for that, he needs a girlfriend. A fake girlfriend.
Sierra still remembers Nils’s betrayal. Seeing him after so long in the marriage of mutual friends is just one of the mishaps she has been facing lately. But being surprised by a proposal from the last person she hopes to help arouses a beautiful climate of reverse deja vu.
And so, they become a couple. Which will not be an easy task. His only goal is to restore his career. Hers? Do not get hurt again.
With an air of romance about second chances, their story will be filled with ups and downs, showing two people who have suffered in the past and how it still affects them. Nils is volatile, and part of his aggressiveness comes from his childhood. His plot is difficult and emotional. Sierra just wants to be loved, but it seems that everyone around her always puts her aside.
The book has a bit of drama, Nils will arouse the reader’s anger in some parts, but even with so many denials, so much reluctance and so many unspoken things, they try to get help and make progress to become better people. The happy ending is somewhat laborious, but guaranteed.

Nils is on probation after a drunken night leads to picture of him naked on the internet. His hockey coaches and owner want him to settle down and find a girlfriend. Sierra is Nils ex-stepsister and she’s broke and in a bind. He makes her an offer she can’t turn down, just to be his fake girlfriend so he can get through to play hockey with his team. Sierra hates Nils but can’t deny his hotness and she soon finds out it carries over to the bedroom. Will these two end up with more than they bargained for in the end? A great fun steamy read, highly recommended.
Loved Nils & Sierra. There is so much built into this story but the love these two have in their hearts just pours out. My heart broke for Nils when he revels his past throughout the story. Sierra relationship with her father made her realize what did definite didn’t want out of life. I loved watching these two realize how much they truly need and love each other.
Dirty Swedish Player is a combination of a hockey romance, step-brother and a fake relationship romance. It is the first book by R.C. Stephens that I have read and I did enjoy it.
Nils and Sierra have history of faking a relationship that didn’t turn out well for either of them. Now they are older and circumstances are forcing them to try again. Nils has made quite a few mistakes in his personal life but after a big public image disaster he is forced by his hockey team owners to fix it. Luck may finally be on his side because Sierra is back in his life again and the perfect person to help him. He just has to convince her to take a chance on him, again, but can she trust him this time around? A mutually beneficial deal is made, but what neither of them saw coming was the chemistry between them and the feelings they would have for each other.
Dirty Swedish Player was a fun second chance romance. Thrown together as step-siblings while in college, things didn’t end on a positive note, and their relationship went from friends to enemies in the blink of an eye and some hateful words by Nils.
Years later, both Nils and Sierra find themselves needing the other to help them out of a tight spot. Nils needs a “good girl” to act as his girlfriend to help him settle down and improve his reputation in the NHL as a partier and troublemaker. And, Sierra, having just been fired, needs a job. What should be an easy solution for both of them, however, becomes complicated as can be when feelings and passions get involved. Will their fake relationship end in heartbreak or become the real deal?
What really made this book unique for me was the backstory. Nils had a rotten childhood that followed him up through college and still plays a role in his life today, leaving him to deal with anger issues and a fear of commitment. Falling into Sierra again was really a twist of fate for him, because he never meant to hurt her the way that he did while in college and he finally has a chance to make it right if only he can move past his fears as well as get Sierra to forgive him and give him a real second chance.
Poor Sierra . . .it’s like she is powerless around Nils. She fell in college and she finds herself falling hard and fast again, even though he hurt her before. But, this time she knows herself enough to understand she needs him to commit to her and she’s willing to walk away if she needs to . . . and she just might have no choice.
Dirty Swedish Player was really a lot of fun as this couple worked through their issues, both past and present and tried to get it together the second time around. I loved how the entire extended hockey team and family became involved pushing this couple forward when they needed some not so gentle nudges to find their way to their happy ever after. 4 stars!
Talk about a stick…
Lol. This sexy troublesome Swede is exactly what you need when looking for a hockey hottie! I may be a bit biased because they used to be step siblings but I don’t care.
Dirty Swedish Player is all about blurring and crossing lines. Blue ones included!
Definitely read the previous books! While the beginning of this book started a little abruptly, we definitely needed it in order to understand these characters, but I wish it went a little deeper! Nils and Sierra met when his mother married her father, but neither were close to their parents. After a plan devised by their parents ends badly, they go their separate ways, yet end up running in the same circles years later. While Nils is thriving in his career, his personal life is a disaster and it causes him to devise a plan similar to the one he previously held with Sierra. As they get to know each other as adults, they also are able to reflect on what happened years ago and the combination provides them the ability to get closer and develop a real relationship. Where I liked the style of writing this author provided us, the storyline really kept me wanting more from this couple and was a little all over the place for me. I definitely feel that I would’ve been more engaged in the storyline had I read the first two books in the series because things would make better sense.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read the first two books. I liked how the author gave a flash back so we understood why the h was so upset. I just wished that the H took his head out of his a** sooner. They had great chemistry and I was rooting for them the whole time. Im so glad that I was given a chance to read this book and I’m definitely going back to read the first two books.
What a fun, entertaining, steamy and fabulous story! This is a sports romance, mixed with a bit of a second chance romance. Throw in the fact that Nils and Sierra used to be step siblings and you have yourself one heck of a story.
This is book 3 in the series but it was easily able to be read as a standalone. I loved Sierra, and Nils grew on me eventually too! I was hooked from the moment I started reading and was not expecting some of the twists and turns I was taken on throughout the story.
This books is a must read for sure!

I am a sucker for hockey romances, through in a little forbidden romance and a fake relationship and I am completely sold on the book. Dirty Swedish Player was all that and more and I loved everything about this story.
This is the third book in the Big Stick series, however, it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the first two, but I will definitely being going back to check them out. I didn’t feel lost at all with the story at any point.
As for the characters, I like Sierra. She was smart, hardworking and a pretty supportive friend. I mean, who else would volunteer to babysit your friends mother (trust me, Sloane’s mother is not an easy person to keep your eye on). Nils had a rough childhood, he may be a little overaggressive at times, somewhat of a jerk, but there is a sweet side to him and that shows throughout the story. Along with his thick skull. I may have yelled at my kindle a time or two when it came to him and Sierra’s relationship.
I loved the chemistry between the Sierra and Nils. It was definitely a slow burn when it came to these two and you just want to force them to get together. When they finally do and finally give in to their chemistry things get a little heated and just continue to get hotter from there.
If you like hockey romances, fake relationships, second chances (in a way) and a little mix of forbidden romance this is definitely one to check out.
This story has so many interesting premises that I was instantly intrigued; forbidden romance, fake couple romance, sports romance.
Nils Karlsson and Sierra Cole are former step siblings with a bitter past, mainly due to Nils anger. But when Nils destructive personality almost ruins his hockey career, the only person he can turn to is the one person who hates him the most.
I actually found that this book is more sweet than angsty. I love Nils and Sierra and the slow build up in their romance. After the horrible past Sierra experienced with Nils, I liked that she was not a complete pushover to Nils looks and charm. Nils is a character that I slowly started to like further into the story. He may be a hothead, at times, but he has definitely been humbled by his past bad behavior and wanted to change.
I really enjoyed reading this standalone romance and will definitely read some of the other books in this series.
Sierra is almost at her breaking point. She’s lost her job, her cars broke down. She’s just waiting for #3 and in walks in an unwanted blast for her past, her former step brother, Nils Karlsson.
Nils Karlsson is a NHL Hockey Star who’s got himself in a hot mess and he’s proposed a ‘fake’ relationship opportunity to Sierra to help Sierra out financially and to help him keep him job.
Nils learns that Sierra is a hard negotiator and due to their past she’s is not giving him much slack.
There is many laugh out loud moments in this book especially during their friends wedding rehearsal/reception. The more I read a long the more I got the feeling that these two were going to connect on a much deeper level than the average. It Nils a little bit to realize his true feelings but once he did….
I do feel bad that both of them didn’t have ideal childhoods but then again this also is one area that these two can relate on.
Loved #bigstick Nils and Sierra!
Nils is a big name in Hockey and now he’s just known for being ‘big’ when two eager beavers entrap his drunk backside in a pub bathroom and snap him and his, erm, #bigstick in action with one of the girls. When the clip goes viral, and it seems his nether regions are big enough to demand their own PR company, Team Management are singularly unimpressed and he’s advised to settle down with a girlfriend and work on his reputation, or he’s gone.
I have such a soft spot for sexy tattooed manwhore bad boys, and Nils is about as bad as any of them, so it was easy to say that I’d been looking forward to hearing from him and that I absolutely loved his story. In book two, Butt Ending, we met Sierra as a friend of Sloane’s, and she was so anti-Nils that I was as intrigued as to why, just as much as the girls in the book were!
Nils endeared the loyalty of his team mates and their ladies because they saw the good within him. As former step-siblings, Sierra had seen that side, right along with the part of him that hurt her badly enough in public way, to have her leave school and home the next day and live elsewhere. What neither of them realised was the fragility of their teenage emotions, nor the parental damage undertaken by their respective parents ensured they were never truly secure enough in the developing relationship between them. Childhood hearts broken by parents, continued to reverberate in adult actions.
There was some soul searching to be done by this character pair!
My favourite secondary character was Sloane’s mother. That chick was hilarious and in her misguided way, offered up advice in an effort for them to see that they might indeed be each other’s person. In fact, I absolutely loved catching up with the characters from the previous books, and am looking forward to the next one!!! 4.5 Stars.
Dirty Swedish Player is a funny sports romance, it’s the third book in the Big Stick series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the first two books in this series, although I really want to read the first one, and I had no problem following Nils and Sierra’s story.
First of all, I really liked Sierra, she’s funny, sweet and a great friend, I loved her friendship with Sloane and the way she tried to babysit Sloane’s mom (which might be the most hilarious character EVER!).
Nils isn’t exactly my favorite character and that impacted how much I enjoyed the story. At first, Nils is just a horny college hockey player who drinks too much, then he’s the same even after college, at that point we don’t know what went down between him and Sierra but we know he messed up somehow. Anyway, I wasn’t loving Nils in the first half of the book but I wasn’t disliking him either, then after knowing what he did to Sierra… well I was hurt for her, there were some things he said that made me angry and honestly I was expecting more from his apology and his main reason to do what he did (this is me trying to be cryptic) was a little weak. I can’t say much more because I would be spoiling the story.
Still, I can overlook some of it (not the apology or the timing of it) because they were in college and everyone does dumb things in college (I sure did!). Furthermore, there are some redeeming moments and some character growth through the story which made me warm up to him, but honestly I loved Oli and Myles (two of Nils best friends and teammates) more. Despite this, I enjoyed this story, it was entertaining, steamy, featuring one of my favorite tropes (fake relationship), with great secondary characters and lots of funny moments. Definitely, a solid 3 stars read.
4.5 stars. Fab enemies to lovers – hot, amusing and great reading.
“The way she pushes those thick-framed glasses of hers up her tiny button nose always gives me a hard-on.”
Bad behaviour and bad decisions has Nils Karlsson about to lose the most important thing in his life – his NHL hockey career. He needs to clean up his image with good works and a steady girlfriend. Unfortunately, a suitable candidate is hard to come by when all that’s on offer are puck bunnies. However, when an opportunity presents itself for his former step-sister to be his fake girlfriend – for the right price – it’s a win-win situation for them both.
Sierra Cole has just lost her job and totalled her car. She needs money desperately. So desperately that she accepts the role of fake girlfriend to Nils – a guy who broke her heart and who she despises. However, no matter how much her head tells her that she can’t stand him, her heart is telling her something completely different.
“Seeing his scars breaks my heart and reminds me that we are two broken souls who have come together again.”
This was a fun, amusing story with plenty of steam and some real angst. To put it mildy, Nils’ life is something of a car crash and he needs help urgently to make sure he doesn’t ruin his career. There’s some bad history between them but I loved the simmering attraction that had never gone away. Poor Nils is so blind to what is really going on between them but I enjoyed how Sierra handled the whole thing and, with a little bit of help from their friends, Nils comes to realise exactly he has. They were both broken people who grew up with some real issues. On paper, they don’t seem a likely couple but they fit perfectly together! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and plan to read more from this author.
Nils was stuck in his ways and wasn’t about to change for anyone. He was a playboy who didn’t care about his life or consequences outside of hockey.
Sierra was a sweetheart who doesn’t have much of a backbone at first. She is constantly pleasing her dad, her aunt, her friends, and Nils without thinking of herself
This was a cute read, but it took awhile to hook me. I felt like a lot of the scenes were almost a list of things they were doing until about the 35% mark. This is when the story starts to get interesting. The characters became relatable and the storyline picks up.
I haven’t read the first two books in the series, but I didn’t have any trouble following along.

LOVED!! This unique twist on a stepbrother romance was so intriguing! Nils and Sierra’s story had me sucked into this story! I could not put this book down! I love watching these two fall in love – it was a great journey! AMAZING!
Nils is a scoundrel. Caught with his pants down and his ‘stick’ exposed, he needs to get his act together and clean up his image. Enter the suitable fake girlfriend. Sierra rocks that sexy librarian vibe and fits the bill. They have a complicated past to overcome. Having already done the fake relationship thing in the past, Sierra agrees to do it again for a price and on her terms. Although I really enjoyed the premise of this book, the story did not pan out the way I was hoping and expecting it to do. None the less, Nils overcomes his obstacles and the two get their happily ever after.
