A good steamy read…but…
This was a good steamy read, but I honestly wanted to like it more than I did. The idea was good, but the pace was too quick and I didn’t really feel the connection between Clay and Samantha. It wasn’t completely insta-love, more insta-lust but it happened so quickly and there wasn’t really an intense slow build-up like I was expecting. Samantha’s character changed in a complete 180 in the first couple of chapters which was really odd. The sex scenes were steamy and hot, and I liked getting the snippets of Clay past and his brothers were intriguing characters (so I may read their stories sometime).
And most of the story other than Clay’s father figure coming back was very predictable and it was just about the sex.
Finally, this book is written in 3rd person pov, past tense and I really felt that contributed a lot to not seeing the connection between the characters. I find this really gets to me, especially in a short romance read, without much dialogue. The fly on the wall narrator drove the plot and it made the story drag a little even though it was short.
So pretty much I read this book because I wanted to know the story before I watch the movie on Passionflix and this time around I’m going to say that quite possibly the movie will be better than the book.
I enjoyed this book, but definitely won’t be busting my balls or bank account to urgently read more by these authors. Thank goodness for public libraries (where I got this one from)
anyway, enough Caz rambling. Signing off.
Dirty Sexy Saint is so swoon worthy it lit my heart on fire and I loved every second of it. This story has something for everyone – family issues, suspense, amazing sex and wonderful characters. Clay and Samantha have such an intense connection that even you will be hot and bothered! Clay is everything and I adore how protective he is and how he always helps those in less fortunate situations. I love Sam’s determination to be her own person and live her best life and how down to earth she really is. These two take sexy and passion to a whole other level while they can’t help but fall in love. You need to read this book for the office, the cupcakes and the conversations with her dad alone. I want to be the damsel in distress that gets “dirty” with Clay so I can be his cupcake forever!!
Tracey, Life Reads With Friends
So this book right here totally sells me on books by Carly Phillips. This was a five star, very HOT read! We’ve got three brothers for the stories in this series, and the first brother was nicknamed “Saint”, because he seemed to take in every person or animal that he found on the streets that needed help. Including the main female character in this, Samantha. I loved the chemistry, I loved how Clay/Saint was completely honest about how he would be with her and all that she should expect from him. I loved the brothers, and I love how it all worked out with Samantha’s family in the end.
This was a quick sexy AF read. This was a good start to a series of stand-alone books. I really liked the main characters and the secondary characters that will get their own books. We have Samantha who has led a privileged life but feels unsatisfied with life. She wants to much more out of life than what her parents have planned for her. She is very down to earth and isn’t stuck up. I really liked her and felt she was a strong person for walking away from her safe rich life to pursue the life she wants. She then finds herself in a bar getting drunk when she realizes her father had indeed cut her off. In steps in Clay the sexy bar owner who at first glance thinks Samantha is a stuck up person slumming. When he gets to know her he finds out so much more about her. There is instant attraction between them but her pushes her away because he thinks he doesn’t deserve her and doesn’t want to taint her with his past.
Most of this book was realistic enough I did feel near the end when Samantha’s father seemed to give in so easily didn’t seem right. I thought from what we knew of him he would have caused a lot more problems between Clay and Samantha. I’m glad it worked out in the end with minimal angst. All in all a good read and look forward to ready the rest of the books to see what happens with Clay’s brothers.
UPDATE *Reread this 3 years later and my review stands. I absolutely loved this story. I fell in love with Clay and Samantha all over again. And if you don’t know yet, passionflix is making this story into a movie! I can’t wait to watch this story come to life.*
What a wonderful collaboration from my two favorite authors. Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde have written an amazing story that had heart as well as some dirty and sexy moments. Clay and Samantha were just so great together. Clay totally made my heart melt every time he called Samantha, cupcake, and I totally fell in love with him when he demonstrated what a big and soft heart he had for Samantha, as well as others who were in need. I also loved how Samantha was trying to gain her independence from her family and how Clay supported her any way he could. And the gift he gave her was just so OMG- and sigh-worthy. I don’t want to spoil the surprise but let me tell you, if you don’t fall madly in love with Clay from that one gesture then I have nothing more to say. Absolutely loved every moment of this story. Can’t wait for the next book in this series, Dirty Sexy Inked.
It’s been a while since I read it. I loved everything about it.
What’s a girl to do when she has everything except the love and respect from her parents. And to make matters worse, she’s being forced into a marriage with a man she doesn’t love. So she does the only thing she can think of to make her feelings heard… she walks away from everything.
Clay Kincaid is from the wrong side of the tracks and no one thought he’d ever amount to anything. But he did what he had to do to protect his brothers and now he owns his own bar. He’s still rough around the edges, but deep down he’s got a big heart.
When Samantha Jamieson walks into the bar with little cash and the clothes on her back, Clay can’t help but be attracted to this cupcake and lend a helping hand. But the more time they spend together, the hard it is to fight the sexual tension.
However, when Clay’s past comes back to wreck havoc, Samantha makes a decision that will leave Clay reeling. Can he finally put his past firm in the past and while reaching for his future?
Saint Clay is tall, dark, handsome, dirty and oh so sexy. I loved that even though his past was hard and challenging, he didn’t let that keep him from achieving so much. It may have hardened this bad boy, but he’s got a heart of gold.
Samantha grew up with a silver spoon, but that’s not who she is. She appreciates the little things that come from the heart. I love that she will do anything in her power for the one person that captures her heart.
This story is a fast paced thrill ride with lots of sexual tension. I love their quick banter while trying to fight their feelings. But once they give in, they give in completely, heart and soul. Each desire to make the other happy at all costs. They are perfectly matched.
The book has it all and I’m loving if and can’t wait to see what happens next.
Loved it, went right to Book 2 in series. The Characters are engaging, strong, and so fun!
Ummmm, yeah!! Love this series!!!
Loved the story as it unfolded. It kept me captivated.
Great Start to a Great Series
Wow, this book packed a punch. Didn’t want to put the book down. It’s very well written with fantastic characters and a plot that is filled with erotic hotness.
A hot, alpha male meets his match and the flame between them ignites into an inferno. This book will you leave you wanting more.
Samantha is 26 years old and running away from home because she is not going to marry a man she is not in love with just because her father declares it. She finds herself at Kincaids Bar at closing time and Clay Kincaid is struck with this cupcake and takes it upon himself to help her. This book brings together two strong characters who both need healing and are strong enough to stand up for each other and to each other. Sexy, sweet, dirty, saint, cupcake, angst, frustrating…those are just some of the adjectives that run through your brain as you read this one 🙂
Good
Okay however I won’t be looking for on this series.
Fantastic! Loved these characters!
