“Sexy and fun with a delicious hockey hero!” -NYTimes Bestseller Lexi RyanIn my defense, I didn’t know she was his sister… play at all. And that’s a hit my career in the NHL can’t take. So the plan is simple. Keep my head down and finish out my contract with my fists checked.
There’s just one problem.
Allie. The girl from Vancouver eight months ago. The one with the sexy, shy, and sinfully bold smile and the sweetest, wettest mouth I ever tasted. The girl who blew my mind and then blew out of my life without giving me her number.
Turns out she’s the captain’s little sister. And even though my career depends on it… I can’t stay away from her.

This was an awesome story and very fun hockey sports romance. It stars Natalie/Allie and Vaughn and it begins 8 months before when V and A meet in Vancouver and have a hot night but she disappears until he sees her in a bar in Chicago where he has been temporarily traded to.
He discovers she is the sister of his team captain and the guy he loves to hate and the hate is mutual. But the two see each other again and cannot resist the other.
Natalie/Allie has never wanted to date a hockey player though she has a BIG crush on V. She wants her life to be hers and she knows with hockey players the sport always comes first. But V is supposed to only be around for a small while before he is traded to Oregon. And so their Dirty Secret begins…
This was a super fun and romantic story. I absolutely loved every single character in this story and had a blast reading it. This book easily stands alone and was one of the funnest books I have read in awhile.
I love a good hockey romance and this fit the bill. Vaughn has made a reputation of himself in the hockey world and one that’s none too flattering. He’s rival is now a teammate nothing can worse than that… right? His one night stand that took off all those nights ago pops back up in his life, but now she’s way off limits and could cause trouble for him in more ways than one. Natalie is so drawn to Vaughn, but he is her brother’s rival and she shouldn’t want him. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to Vaughn and Natalie is one of the few that see that. Vaughn had me on the fence about him, but the more I read this book the more he won me over. All the characters are great and engaging. It was hard to put down.
Vaugh and Natalie shouldn’t be together since her brother is his enemy. A passion filled night then Natalie slipped away without telling Vaughn who she is and leaving no number. Vaughn can’t forget that night with Natalie. He has to get along with Natalie’s brother until his contract runs out for the hockey team. The couple try to fight the attraction but won’t win. I loved this story and parts had me laughing and wanting to cry. A wonderful read.
Cover aside (yeah wasn’t crazy about it) Vaugh has so won my heart. I really hope you guys have read Dirty Player because you really should, it was really good and those characters have a good amount of time in this one. Huh, I have to reread Hard Crush and then read Dirty bad boy, just so many awesomeness.. Anywho back to this one we had met Natalie who was Greg (Dirty Player) little sister who when in Vancouver has a night to remember with Greg’s enemy Vaughn. Vaughn has no clue that Natalie whom he knows as Allie was the girl he could not forget from Vancouver until one of his teammates points it out to him thinking Vaughn was just doing it to get back at Greg..Mind blown Vaughn goes to confront her (or so he says) and both him and Natalie agree that they need to forget that day and move on, however wishful thinking!!! Read and Enjoy!
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions
Absolutely loved this one!
It’s the start of a new series (Slayers Hockey) though the heroine is the sister of Dirty Secret ‘s Greg, but you don’t have to have read his story to enjoy this one. Be warned, though–once you start reading about the guys on this team (Chicago Slayers hockey) you’re not going to want to stop!
Natalie and Vaughn’s story was, in a word, amazing. I mean, the one night stand who turns out to be your teammate’s little sister should be old and tired by now. So should the grumpy hero with the heart of gold who turns to mush for kids–and the heroine. I mean, how many forbidden/secret romances do we need? The answer is apparently as many as can be written like this one, because all the tropes feel fresh and new here with Ms Kelly’s Dirty Secret. I mean, even when I (and they) knew that it was the king of all bad ideas for the two of them to be together, they were so, so good together that I couldn’t even fault them for it.
And hot. I mean, H-O-T kind of hot.
I am not kidding, I had actual tears in my eyes during the breakup/black moment. They may or may not have fallen; I refuse to either confirm or deny. It hurt me when they were hurting.
And then we get to the ending–amazing! Ms Kelly cannot possibly write this series fast enough for me!

Dirty Secret is book one in the Slayers Hockey series and a new author to me. You will fall in love with this story and characters very quickly. The connection between Vaughn and Allie (or is it? LOL) is spot on from the moment they meet in Vancouver. But…the question is when they come face to face in the least expected place in Chicago does Vaughn act like he knows her or not? Think before you answer that question as his career is on the line with this decision. Tension is high between the Baxters’ and Vaughn and in more ways than one. You will love the banter, the sweet sides from Vaughn when he isn’t the most social nice person from a teammate standpoint and the connection that occurs between the now with them has you wondering if the Dirty Secret will be just that or if they will risk it all and no matter the outcome of Baxter (the brother and teammate) and his career and do what feels right-go public with the relationship. You will get to meet moody Greg (brother and teammate) in Dirty Player (book #2 in the Back to you series). These series can be read as standalones; however, this book gives you the insight to the tension between these characters and how it has stemmed from the younger years in the hockey world to the now. I look forward to more by this author and on more of the Slayers team.
I absolutely loved this brand new series by Mira! I was completely hooked from the first page. I loved Vaughan and Natalie. The sparks were flying of the pages between them both. I couldn’t wait to see what happened and I can’t wait for the other Hockey players and Natalie’s friends to get their own stories.
Damn … she’s done it again!
You guys, seriously, if you haven’t read Mira’s work before, I implore you to do so immediately. She writes the best sexy, feel-good romances!! #TRUST She continues to impress me with every book she writes. I really enjoyed the little sister trope with a twist in this story.
Here’s the gist: Allie has been crushing on Vaughn for like ever! Vaughn is Allie’s brother’s number one enemy. Enemy since like forever! Allie grabs the opportunity for a one-night sex-a-thon with Vaughn and of course keeps her identity from him because brother’s enemy and all that. But it’s no big deal because she, her brother and Vaughn would never be in the same place at the same time ….. well, let the games begin!
What an emotionally charged story this turned out to be. It was a deliciously sexy and off the charts feel-good but oh so damn emotional. My heart went thru a blender with this one, for both Allie and Vaughn. I’m not going to give you plot points to the story but be ready. Your heart will soar but it will also explode into a million pieces, repeatedly. It was glorious you guys.
Mira Lyn Kelly hits it in the net with Dirty Secret (Slayers Hockey #1). NHL player Vaughn Vassar is traded to the same team as his as his arch rival, Greg Baxter (Dirty Player, Back To You #2). He is shocked to discover Allie, the girl of his dreams that he met in Vancouver eight months ago, is Greg’s little sister, Natalie Baxter. This contemporary sports romance us suitable for adult readers.
I adored this story. Allie and Vaughn have great chemistry. The two get each other. Allie sees beyond Vaughn’s image, and Vaughn appreciates Allie for the person she is and not for being Greg’s sister. I love that he puts her first when she has always come in second to Greg.
Dirty Secret is skillfully written. The characters had compelling obstacles. The hockey scenes are thrilling and add to the novel. I love that Allie played hockey as well. The book is an exciting read that I finished in a day. Dirty Secret is a great foundation for the Slayers series. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book.
This is the 1st book in a new series and what a fabulous introduction this story is. Vaughn and Allie crossed paths months ago and she is never far from his thoughts, until they cross paths again and he finds out that Natalie “Allie” is the younger sister of the captain and is therefore off limits. Will these two be able to resist the undeniable chemistry between them? This is a beautifully written story which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this wonderful series.
Life’s too short to miss out on a fantastic hockey romance and “Dirty Secret” is exactly that. As a huge fan of sports romance books I have just one question: Mira Lyn Kelly where have you been all my hockey loving romance reading life? In this book we meet Vaughn, a sexy as sin hockey playing God with a chip the size of a hockey arena on his shoulder. He’s cranky, snarky and for the most part insufferable except when he’s not. Natalie is a former female hockey player, younger sister of the team captain, she’s absolutely adorable. Swearing to never date a hockey player, she cannot overcome her attraction to her brother’s sworn enemy, the surly Vaughn. The attraction is mutual and Natalie allows herself a one night stand with the hockey hunk, hiding her true identity. Fast forward to when the two meet again and reality sets in. What happens next is a tantalizing journey towards their much deserved happily ever after. Mira has written a wonderful story filled with in-depth characters, hot sexy times and sweet sigh inducing moments. Add this book to your TBR list now. (I read an ARC and voluntarily left an honest review).
Dirty Secret is the first book in the Slayers Hockey series by the new-to-me Author, Mira Lyn Kelly. I am so happy that she reached out and asked me to review her book. I try to read books by authors I haven’t read before and I am so glad I took a chance of her because…it was damn amazing!! It hit all the right spots!
Vaughn needs to keep his head down and his hockey stick to the ice. He can’t afford to fuck up the season with the Slayers, a team he didn’t even want to be on. It was just a stepping stone to the team he wanted to be on…in Oregon. He actually had a friend there unlike in Chicago where even the fans were hating on him because he didn’t get along with their golden boy, Greg Baxter. Who so happened to be the older brother to the woman he took to bed eight months ago in another country. A woman he couldn’t get out of his mind. A woman who left without even a last name or phone number. Shit…she didn’t even give him her real name.
Allie didn’t think she would ever see him again. The hot as fuck Vaughn Vassar. A man who she crushed on even when she was in high school. She thought it was only going to be one night. One night to pretend she wasn’t Greg’s little sister. One night to give into temptation. And now, that temptation was back in her city. She couldn’t risk her brother finding out. But, when they lock eyes one night it was over, she was fucked. And so was he if Greg found out.
I can’t get into anymore but I will say that I loved it so hard. I love Vaughn. I love Allie. I love them together. Their banter. Their sweet glances. Their secret connection. I loved it all. Allie gets to see a side of Vaughn nobody else sees. And Vaughn sees Allie and not just as Greg’s sister but as a woman who deserves her happy.
I can’t wait for the next book! I also picked up Greg’s book, Dirty Player which is free right now!
Quotes:
“You could have told me you were leaving.”
“And then?” she asks, her voice unsteady.
“And then I would have kissed you goodbye just like this.”
“I’d make you laugh so you were smiling just for me.”
“You called me Quinn,” he says like some chick hearing the L-word for the first time.
Vaughn is a hockey player with a penchant for trouble.
Natalie is the younger sister of Greg, Vaughn’s teammate and biggest rival.
She is suppose to be off limits because of her bother, but how can something they know is wrong, feel so right?
I loved the characters and the chemistry between Vaughn and Natalie is sizzling.
There’s humor, heartbreak, and steamy romance.
I highly recommend it!
I loved Dirty Player so much I didn’t think I could love Dirty Secret more but I did! First – read Dirty Player (it’s free as I write this) then read Secret next. You don’t have to to enjoy this one, but you should- they’re both fantastic books. Vaughn and Natalie are so good together – chapters 24 and 25 are everything. I laughed out loud so many times, and smiled so much. Mira Lyn Kelly knocked it out of the park on the first I love yous I loved these scenes (in both books)so, so much. You seriously can’t go wrong with any of her books
I am so in love with this story!
It hooked me from the start and didn’t let go. I fell hard for a moody, trouble-making hockey player named Vaughn.
*sigh*
Vaughn…so grumpy and scowly and antisocial…and caring and big-hearted and sexy AF.
Natalie…so unknowingly beautiful inside and out. So trusting and sweet, refusing to cause problems for anyone.
Seeing her and not being able to have her, touch her, or talk to her is pure torture for Vaughn.
Ever since that one night in Vancouver months ago…a delicious, passion-filled night…he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her.
But she snuck away, while he was sleeping.
With nothing but A NOTE.
He always kept an eye out for her.
Wanting to find her.
She purposely stayed away.
Avoiding him.
Then they finally run into each other.
Panic consumes Natalie.
Curiosity & anger flares within Vaughn.
And yet…sparks fly and sizzle all around them. Their chemistry undeniable and combustible. I love these two together so much! They shouldn’t be together, but dammit, they have to be!
The author did a fantastic job with their story, making me feel everything, see everything. Reading this was like watching a movie play out in front of me, one I never wanted to turn off.
Fun parts had me smiling BIG.
Steamy scenes had my heart racing.
Heartwarming moments had me swooning and sighing happily like a romance reader should.
I can’t recommend this book enough.
This sexy hockey romcom has everything I love in a well-written romance novel. SO GOOD! I’m pretty sure I highlighted half the book.
#VaughnIsMine
Holy hotness with a hockey stick! Vaughn is deliciously grumpy, exceedingly sexy and so much more than his on ice persona portrays. After one night with “Allie”, this gruff and taciturn center for the Chicago Slayers couldn’t get her off his mind. Imagine his surprise when she turns out to be his teammate, and hated rivals, little sis, Natalie. Oh, such delicious irony in that plot twist!
While Vaughn’s been in the dark with that revelation, Natalie knew exactly who she spent the night with. And although she has no regrets…except maybe wishing she hadn’t snuck away…she’s been avoiding both Vaughn and the team in general.
The chemistry between this twosome is both explosive and melt-your-heart sweet. Vaughn may be intimidating both on the ice and in the locker room, he’s definitely wrapped around Allie’s little finger, as well as her heart. But both know he’s dying to get back to his old team, and she’s settled deep in Chicago, so this relationship has an expiration date.
I can’t express how much I loved these two lovers! Mira Lyn Kelly writes wonderful, rich characters who burrow into the readers heart and mind. But there’s something about Vaughn and Allie that will keep them in mine indefinitely. So bring on more smexy hockey players, Ms. Kelly. But I doubt anyone can knock Vaughn from his spot as my new book boyfriend!
I have one word for you and that is SWOON!! My God I think I found my book-husband. Vaughn has taken my heart and I do not need it back.
The chemistry these two had was sizzling hot and the banter was funny. You could feel all the pent-up desire and want they felt for each other. It was making me crazy to see how much she valided her brothers opinion when all Vaughn has shown her how much see means to him.
As the start to a new series I’m blown away and can’t wait to read the next book and see more HEA happening.

Mira Lyn Kelly hits the mark just about every single time and she blew past the mark with Dirty Secret. This was a super sexy, romantic and sometimes emotional charged story. The chemistry between Allie and Vaughn just burned off the pages and I was rooting for them the whole way. I loved these characters and connected with them immediately. Their story made me want to keep turning those pages. It was well-written, it was fun, and it was sexy!
I loved this story, the couple, the secondary characters, the chemistry. All of it. If this is the quality we can expect with the Slayers Hockey series, then I absolutely cannot wait for more. Dirty Hookup is due next and I cannot wait!
Older brother’s enemy?! Yes, please!
You read that right, Dirty Secret is all about wanting that one guy that your brother hates and who hates him right back. But the best part is, this is NOT a revenge plot at all!
Natalie has had a crush on Vaughn since he was her older brother’s high school rival, so when she gets the chance to spend a night with him with no strings attached, including her real name, she takes it. Too bad neither of them was satisfied with one night and that he’s now on the same team as her brother!
Mira Lyn Kelly is so good at creating dirty talking bad boys who are actually really great guys and Vaughn is no exception! I absolutely loved that he has “resting prick face” but then is a total do-gooder. And the chemistry and dirty talk between Allie and Vaughn was delicious!
I loved getting to catch up with Greg and Julia and see Laurel and Jack, peripherally at least. And canNOT wait for Quinn and George, I just know that’s going to be sooo good!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
I’m giving this book 5 goals! There were so many feels with this story, I was hooked from the beginning! Vaughn was shocked to see Allie, the girl who ghosted him earlier as well as finding out she is also the sister to his rival on the ice. I loved Vaughn’s grumpy but lovable personality, he is the opposite of sweet Natalie who tries to be quiet & not cause trouble for anyone. When they run into each other again the sparks fly & Vaughn is questioning why she left him. The author did a fantastic job with this story & I can’t wait for more in this series!
