“Sexy and fun with a delicious hockey hero!” -NYTimes Bestseller Lexi RyanIn my defense, I didn’t know she was his sister… play at all. And that’s a hit my career in the NHL can’t take. So the plan is simple. Keep my head down and finish out my contract with my fists checked.
There’s just one problem.
Allie. The girl from Vancouver eight months ago. The one with the sexy, shy, and sinfully bold smile and the sweetest, wettest mouth I ever tasted. The girl who blew my mind and then blew out of my life without giving me her number.
Turns out she’s the captain’s little sister. And even though my career depends on it… I can’t stay away from her.

“‘You look at me like you are right now. (…) And all the good intentions in the world aren’t enough to stop me.'”
So, not the first book of Mira’s I’ve read. Not by a long shot. But this one is going to leave a mark.
“If that’s what I want? She has to ask?”
Vaughn, the hockey player who’s just become part of a new team and he doesn’t really feel like part of it at all. Plus, he has his own nemesis in the form of Greg Baxter, who everyone absolutely loves.
I ADORE Vaughn. Yes, he is a bit on the broody, grumpy side, very focused on his goals. Just all the things I love.
And Natalie! I like that she’s not a pushover and she follows her own passions – and stands up to her brother.
And so they meet in Vancouver and they spend the night together. It was a one-time thing but it left a mark on both of them. So what happens when he moves to Chicago to find her there – and, not only that, but also finds out she’s Baxter’s younger sister?
Yep, all bets are off.
“‘Haven’t you learned? If something’s important to me… I’m relentless. And Allie, there’s nothing more important to me than you.'”
Vaughn is the dreamiest thing for me – the driven, sort of antisocial guy who knows who he wants, and he tries to steer clear of it nonetheless, until he can’t anymore. And Natalie is trying to run away from something we all realize is more than physical, until there’s no escape.
These two are meant to be. And I love them together, and the way they connect. I love that they see each other for who they are, and love each other for it.
This is a book about a guy that’s rough around the edges, but so incredibly sweet where it counts. And a girl who’s in over her head and totally doesn’t see him coming. Two people who are absolutely perfect for each other, and who ultimately realize they’re what’s missing in each other’s lives.
I’ll go out on a limb and say this is the best hockey series ever – hockey, with all the feels.
Mira Lyn Kelly is an amazing writer. These characters are something else. And this was the first time I really connected with the guy and not so much with the girl. But it can’t be helped… Vaughn is just special. And so is this book.
Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
This book gave me all the feels! From steamy heat to ripping my heart out to shoving it back in my chest warm and fuzzy – it did it all!
Natalie has had a crush on her brother’s biggest hockey rival, Vaughn Vassar, since she was a teenager. When she finally had a chance to act on it one night, she does. But she gave Vaughn a fake name and snuck out leaving a note that she’s not into hockey players. He had no idea who she was, least of all Greg Baxter’s little sister. When Vaughn is traded to Greg’s team and he realizes that “Allie” is actually Natalie Baxter, the clash begins!
This book was so very fun! It had heat and heart and secrecy by the tons! I loved it!!
(Natalie’s brother Greg Baxter has his own book! ‘Dirty Player’ is book 2 in the Back To You series…. & it’s my fave of that series!)
4 stars!
This was my first read by Mira Lyn Kelly and it will most definitely not be my last. I loved Dirty Secret. It is the first book in the Slayers Hockey Series. It tells the story of Natalie (Allie) and Vaughn. Allie has lived in the hockey world all her life. Her brother Greg is also a hockey player and team captain of the Chicago Slayers. She is a physical therapist and a former hockey player herself. Getting involved with a hockey player is a no go for her until Vaughn. They met in a bar in Vancouver and had one amazing night together. Now almost a year later he has been traded to the Slayers and is thrust back into her world. Vaughn is in trouble. He has been getting into fights and needs to keep a low profile on and off the ice. He has that serious bad boy hockey charm that I love and the moment he connects with Allie again there is no going back for him. There was a forbidden element to this I loved. Greg being Allie’s big brother is not going to go down well. This was sexy, gritty and full of heat and emotion. I devoured every word and couldn’t get enough of these characters. I can’t wait for Dirty Hookup next.
Allie’s had a secret crush on her brother’s biggest hockey enemy, Vaughn, for longer than she cares to admit. So when offered a chance to indulge in all that he has to offer, well, what smart woman wouldn’t take him up on it? It can be their little secret, one that no one will ever know because Vaughn’s not on her brother’s hockey team, and never will be. Not that things ever change in the world of professional sports or anything!
Dirty Secret was a nice sort of reversal of the brother’s best friend trope, and done really well. Vaughn and Allie made a great couple once they got their shit straight and finally came together. I admit to wanting to smack Allie a time or two, though, because she was so freaking stubborn and tended to run instead of stick around and try to work things out. Aside from that, though, I really enjoyed this hockey romance.
Great storyline! It was a page turned for me!
Great read, sport romance with cocky player and new teammates sister, old rivalries and surprise romance. This books got it all!
I very much enjoyed “Dirty Secret” (nook) and am now anxious to read more books in the series. The instant spark between Vaughn and Natalie touched my heart and I was engaged in the story. Ahhhh, a happily-ever-after.
A good book. Some things aren’t meant to stay secret. Natalie and Vaughn with all of their insecurities and issues couldn’t fight the love that wouldn’t be denied in spite of themselves. The story was romantic, sexy and humorous which made for a great book. I loved the story and it was good to revisit some old friends from the Back to you series. Until next time y’all happy reading.
LOVED IT. EVERY WORD! I will not give spoilers, so lets just say its an epic romance. The kind that hits the heart. I laughed, cringed, and cried. It was awesome. Now I am off to get my hands on the next book.
This was my first book I read by Mira Lyn Kelly and I must admit that I loved this book. I will be reading more of her books and will recommend this one as well as others to others I’m sure of it! I didn’t want to put it down once I picked it up and started reading.
The story between Natalie and Vaughn brought me all the feels. Natalie is sweet and caring of other’s feelings. Vaughn has a tough guy feel. I loved how she saw through his grumpy exterior to the kind of guy he really was.
I really enjoyed the story between them and how they came together, and everything that happened in between. With their friends, family, and team.
I’m hoping this series continues. I really want to read a book about Quinn :). I’m off to read Dirty Player now that is a book about Natalie’s brother.
I can’t tell you how much I loved Vaughn. He was such an enigmatic person in the beginning but as we read we start to see this other side of him that he doesn’t like to show the media or pretty much anyone else, he was a beautiful person inside and out even if he came off as having a “leave me alone” persona. This book surrounds the relationship between Vaughn and Natalie as they try to navigate the situation they have got themselves in. Natalie is the younger sister to Vaughn’s team captain and he is in hot water already for fighting, etc and he wants out of Chicago but he is insanely attracted to and falling for Natalie. They try hard to fight it but they can’t so we get to watch as they try to figure how this will work. I loved loved loved this book.
Sexy and fun with a delicious hockey hunk hero, DIRTY SECRET is great for fans of Elle Kennedy, Toni Aleo, and Kendall Ryan. I devoured this book!
Who doesn’t love hockey romances? So good, Vaughn and Allie / Natalie were sweet, with some steamy scenes, and the angst of what will happen…because Allie is his team captain’s little sister. For as much of a bad boy as Vaughn is on the ice, he is sweet and considerate to Allie. Loved this book and couldn’t wait to dive into the next.
Holy Mother of Sweet Hockey Players!! u2063

Y’all already know I love hockey romance and that the Pucked/All In series are my favorites. But…this series is working its way up onto my favorites list too! I’ve already listened to 1-3 (reviews to come) and 4 came yesterday so I’ll be caught up soon! u2063

Dirty Secret by Mira Lyn Kelly is book 1 in the Slayers Hockey series. I loved the “I didn’t know she was his sister/my brother hates him but I’m dating him anyway” vibe! It was so well done!u2063

Vaughn – dirty talking bad boy on the outside, super sweet cinnamon roll on the inside! The volunteering and not wanting the press there just melted me into a puddle, especially since it would have helped repair his image. u2063

Natalie (Allie) – finally loving and living her life on her terms and not under her brother’s shadow, she has a rule about dating hockey players…hard pass. But she has a soft spot for Vaughn. As much as she tried not to, she lets him work his way into her heart. u2063

Their chemistry was amazing! You could feel the pull between them during the whole slow burn. I’m not normally a fan of the slow burn, but I didn’t even notice this one with all their on-page chemistry! u2063

If you’re a sports romance lover, DON’T WAIT on this book or this series!! u2063
Oh yes, you will being going back to buy the rest of this series.
Vaughn and Greg, pro hockey players, have been rivals for years. Vaughn, recently traded to Greg’s team, got into a fight with Greg, the team captain. Vaughn is surly and considered too confrontational. He received warning that one more incident and he is out of the hockey league. He is trying to be good so that he can transfer to Oregon and play with his good friend. Eight months ago, he met a girl and had a great night with her. She introduced herself as Allie, and Vaughn cannot get her out of his mind. He sees her hanging out with his team and learns that she is Greg’s little sister and her name is Natalie. Though his career is at stake, he cannot stay away from her. She cannot turn him away. – Vaughn is a much better person than most realize. Natalie quickly sees that. They have struggles, especially with Greg, but their relationship is worth it. It is good to see Natalie come first. This is a very good sports romance..
Don’t date the captain’s little sister!
Vaughn Vassar had gotten in trouble as soon as he joined the Chicago Slayers when he punched his new captain, Greg Baxter since they had a history between them because they had played against each other since they were little. Vaughn had met a girl named Allie in Vancouver that he couldn’t get out of his mind but the next time he sees Allie she with nemesis Greg Baxter but she turns out to be his captain’s little sister, Natalie Baxter. Natalie thought she would never see Vaughn Vassar again but then he was traded to the Slayers and those plans went out the window.
A well constructed story of the hockey player, Vaughn, who meets the girl he can’t Resist, Nathalie. They must navigate a twisted future that dangles Vaughn’s much-desired spot on another team in Oregon against his love for Allie. Of course, they work it out and therein lies the fun.
Vaughn just wants to get through this season so he can move on to play with his friend in Oregon. In Chicago he is surrounded by his nemesis and their animosity is putting his future in jeopardy.
One night out he sees,Allie, the girl he has been unable to forget for the last eight months with his nemesis and other team mates. To his horror he finds out that she is the sister of the one guy he dislikes most in the NHL.
Keeping their hands off each other is a challenge and when her brother finds out there are fists flying. Allie deserved someone who put her first and loved her for herself. I believe she found it.
Fun story, typical story line though
