Holy cow! Undercover jobs have never been hotter! Both characters are strong and don’t trust easily and yet these two do with each other for the most part since the beginning. I loved the progression of this book as well as the perfect ending. I have loved both books in this series and look forward to more.
Dirty Secret
By: Chelle Bliss, Brenda Rothert
Narrated by: Kirsten Leigh, Sebastian York
Series: Flithy, Book 2
Dirty Secret…that is exactly the title this should have. Eva/Kennedy is a secret agent and has been given the task to get close to Phoenix. Shouldn’t be too hard. She is a good looking woman and she does precisely what she is supposed to! But getting close to him does not include falling for him. This duo has massive chemistry but being on opposite sides of the law may make things a little sticky! There were times I was thinking just maybe, Nix was going to end up being a good guy, but being the perfect bad boy works for me. Bliss and Rothert teamed up and made some really great characters. I love Eva. She is spunky, fears nothing except her feelings for Nix, and is all in all the time. Nix is protective and loyal, full of that bad boy air that makes your heart race. It’s a great blend of romance and suspense and left me happy and content.
Narrated by the amazing team of Sebastian York and Kirsten Leigh, it was impossible not to love every minute of their performance. These two together make the story alive, heightened by their ability to flow with the story and make us feel like we are right there with them. It’s such a great listen, you will not want to miss it.

Kennedy Barnes, formerly a secret love child of a former congressman and a freshly minted spy, has been given a new assignment- get close to notorious hacker Phoenix Ash and gather enough intell to put him behind bars for the rest of his life. The two fall in love as they get to know each other, but will their relationship survive all the lies, secrets, and betrayal?
As with Dirty Work, this story was well-written and seamless. While I missed the witty banter between characters, this story has more twists and turns than the first book in the series. I like how the narrative was done in this book because we get to know both sides of the story in almost every scene.
Both narrators delivered and made listening to this audiobook an enjoyable experience.
Dirty Secret is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, romance written in dual narrative that ends in an HEA. No cliffhanger, and no cheating.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
I thought the first book couldn’t be topped guess I was wrong. What always blows me away about these two authors is they manage to get so much storyline in and so much chemistry. So many books in this genre do one or the other really well but not both.
The story line was intriguing the chemistry was off the charts my only complaint is that the book ended.
Easily a 10 star book
5 star Review Dirty Secret by Chelle Bliss and Brenda Rothert
Where do I start? This is the second collaboration between Chelle Bliss and Brenda Rothert and I loved this story. Dirty Secret has it all, intrigue, mystery, danger, smoking hot scenes and romance.
Kennedy Barnes is determined to make a name for herself in the intelligence community and sees this assignment as her big break; no longer content to be her father’s Dirty Secret. What happens when Kennedy is assigned to get close to Phoenix Ash and learn all about his illegal business practices?
When the lines between business and pleasure continually cross between Nix and Kennedy, it is difficult to know which side will win out.
What happens when Kennedy realised that all is not as it seems and that perhaps Nix is not the complete bad guy that they all think he is? Will Kennedy follow her gut instinct? Or will she bow to the pressure from her bosses and bring Nix in?
The narration by Kirsten Leigh and Sebastian York was spot on and they really brought the characters to life and enhanced my listening pleasure.
This was an intriguing read from the first to the last page and I was disappointed when it ended. Dirty Secret was well written and I have no idea where one author ended and the other took over. Ms. Bliss and Ms. Rothert blended their writing together in such a way that the continuity was flawless.
I cannot wait to read future collaborations from these two authors.
Second in this audiobook series, narrated by Sebastian York and Kristen Leigh, this story lacks the pizzaz of the first book. I found myself floundering over the logics and just plain eye rolling silliness. My first question was, what clandestine company assigned a senator’s daughter to work as an operative under an alias, especially with the senator’s miss deeds being front page news, a short time before? Of course there is steam, but too much of this story centered on the steam and the angst was deep and over the top. Not my favorite. The narrators did a good job
This second book of this series is nothing like the first book but it was a good book. The characters Nix and Kennedy were one hot couple together as they spend most of their story trying to figure the other one out while still keeping their secrets. The story addictive as the pair who are both well written characters and strong. The tension and drama between them as the story progresses made it so that it was hard to walk away from.
The audio version of this book was performed well by Sebastian York and Kirsten Leigh. The pair did a great job bringing this story to life and making it a truly enjoyable listening experience that I could not get enough of once I started listening to it.
Overall, I would recommend this book to others.
Wow! What a ride! Nix…. Hot, alpha, dominating with a secret. Kennedy is a strong, take no sh@t heroine. Enjoyed this story that had some twist and turns, leaving you wanting more. A flirty, hot read with a bit of suspense. I highly recommend reading this book.
Idk I didn’t dislike this book, but I didn’t really like it that much either. I didn’t like the characters. Phoenix was too hung up on Kennedy/Eva and I don’t like the way he handled his relationship with Kennedy and turning a blind eye to all the signs. Kennedy was annoying with her wishy washy emotions. She’s suppose to work over Phoenix, but really just ends up sleeping with him and gets no info out of him. She has the nerve to be upset when he finds out for sure who she is and what she did. Both of these characters and dumb and I hate their relationship.
I see why people like this book. It just wasn’t for me, but I would still recommend it to readers.
Favorite Quotes:
She smiles widely. ‘I’m going to be a kickass Ginger,’ she says, referencing the character Stone plays in Casino, but she doesn’t realize she’s closer to the Ginger from Gilligan’s Island. There wasn’t a badass bone in Coco’s body.
A bottle of beer can be swilled in under a minute. Most women are beer. But you… you’re like the finest Cognac I’ve ever tasted. I plan to sip very slowly.
You’ve always taught me that women have all the power, and it’s true. Men will do or say anything for any tiny hope of getting into our panties.
My Review:
This is only my opinion – which will most likely be a minority opinion – but please know that I wanted to like this book, and kept trying to like this book. And while I didn’t not like it, I just found it… lacking… and not up to the level of expected quality of prior efforts by the authors. I have previously enjoyed a vast amount of the author’s work as well as the first delightful book in this series, and hope to experience that level of captivation again with their future projects (although I may be cutting off my supply with this review), I just didn’t find much to savor with this one. Don’t get me wrong, Dirty Secret wasn’t bad… it just seemed to fall short or was missing the mark. I kept waiting to be pulled in – but the writing seemed to lack heart or emotional investment, leaving me with a sense of disappointment and a scantiness of engagement while reading. The writing was highly sensual and the sex scenes were volcanically hot and creative as the couple had mind-blowing, heart-stopping, breath-taking sex; although their liaisons were mostly just that – just hot sex, hooking up, booty calls. It may just be my personal preference but the storyline had a huge hole – it largely skipped the romance part of the erotic romance label. There was seduction but no wooing, no dates, and no actual relationship, a scarcity of emotional engagement, although there was plenty of lust and some treachery. I understand that due to the clandestine nature of their jobs, the characters were to hold back and generally use each other for professional gain, however, this left their encounters to appear shallow once they caught their breath and redressed. I apologize if I seem a Negative Nellie – but I only write honest reviews.
Ms. Bliss and Ms. Rothert work magic together. They have created yet another masterpiece of sexual tension, suspense and passion. Dirty Secret tests the characters boundaries. It causes them to question their loyalties and thier own strengths. Nix is a super hot geek king who can use his magic fingers to make a computer give up its secrets or make a woman purr in satiation. He only has one weakness, until he meets Kennedy who isn’t anything like she portrays and is even more dangerous than she looks. Dirty Secrets is full of sexiness that will burn up your Kindles as well as suspense to keep you on edge. We also get a nice guest appearance from Dirty Work. I very highly recommend this hot piece of work!
Kennedy Barnes is an agent for Greenlight, a highly secretive organization that no one knows she works for except the person who recommended her for the job.
Having grown up in hiding so her politician father’s extracurricular activities wouldn’t be exposed she’s used to staying in the dark, to hiding who she is and how she feels from others making her the perfect agent.
Phoenix Nash is a world renowned hacker. He’s a hacker with morals, never taking any job that goes against his beliefs. He’s a smart man, and the first man to see through Kennedy’s disguise. Not just the physical, he sees beneath the surface and while that should scare her and have her running back to base an getting a replacement agent sent it, it doesn’t.
Dirty Secret is a wild ride through a world of secrets and lies. While the characters attempt to keep their secrets while getting closer and closer.
Dirty Secret is a must read, I could not put it down. I read this in one day, staying up a bit late to finish it but I refused to sleep until it was done!
Another amazing job by Chelle Bliss & Brenda Rothert at sucking the reader into their written world and leaving me wanting more.
Being sick is harder then I thought to finish a story, I did it!! I loved the story right up to the last 5 chapters even if I was shocked and mad as hell at the same time of course at that point I couldn’t figure out if I wanted to cry or punch something. Once again these 2 authors blew me away with the writing and writing style they both have. I’m always amazed to see 2 different writing styles together as something really great for the end product. This story could not have gotten any better the way Nix and Kennedy are towards each other just is mind blowing, the fact that they both had secrets was great something that really kept me turning the page was seeing if the secrets come to surface or not. (which is something I’m not telling). The authors give u enough to guess what might happen then totally give u a head spin on the next page. I had a lot of wtf moments and loved it. In the end I have to say this is a Must Read!!!
***I received this ARC for free in exchange for my honest thoughts***
