Lisa Renee Jones has a new SUPER sexy, forbidden boss romance out today!!! Here’s a little teaser: It was just supposed to be one night, until he turned out to be her new boss. With one sizzling shared look across a boardroom, it’s clear this man is not done with her.
Scorching hot!
I want to make sure you understand that I’m a huge fan of LRJ. HUGE!! She’s written and created some of my most favorite of all book boyfriends. They’re alpha and sophisticated and charming and intelligent and sexy and despite many of them not being immediately open to love, the way they fall is always a thing of beauty. Cole Brooks, the male protagonist in Dirty Rich Cinderella Story was absolutely no exception. I loved how he felt an immediate connection to Lori and didn’t really fight it. I loved how protective he was of her and how much he wanted to take care of her. So. Freaking. Sweet.
But Cole is where my love affair with this story ends.
I didn’t like Lori. Actually, my unfiltered opinion of her was worse than not liking her. I don’t hate anyone, but I came pretty close when it came to her. She was an entitled broke chick, with a condescending and judgmental attitude, and didn’t know when to count her blessings.
she freaked because the man wanted more
she freaked because the man wanted to wipe out her debt
she freaked because he was worried about her safety and wanted to provide her with a safe environment
she freaked because he wanted to spoil her
she freaked because he paid her mother’s exorbitant medical bills
she freaked because the man saw her struggling and wanted to ease her load
she freaked because the man was so freaking awesome
she freaked because she didn’t deserve all of these gifts!!
Lori had me skimming pages. Lori had me losing interest. Lori made this my least favorite LRJ book of all time. This breaks my heart 🙁
The writing was superb. The plot was more than engaging. And Cole was the epitome of what is a good man. I wish he didn’t have to run after her so hard. I wish he didn’t have to constantly defend his actions when they were so very kind. I wish his happiness wasn’t so hard to get.
I love everything Lisa Renee Jones writes.
This story was phenomenal! Everything about this this story was pretty perfect for me. Hot, sexy, Dirty talk, sizzling chemistry, and smokin sex scenes. This book will be sure to light your fire, steal your breath and make your heart beat a little faster. Provocative, sensual, and utterly addictive, I couldn’t put this story down. Lisa Renee Jones once again proves that she is a master of Romance. One delicious, night of unbridled passion with a stranger, leaves these two wanting more. But only knowing each other’s first names, Cole has been unable to find his mystery woman. But as the months pass, thoughts of that night continue to haunt their minds. Until the fateful day when Lori meets her new boss, Cole Brooks. Her one night stand. The characters are heartwarming, caring, intelligent and indescribably delicious together, but they also have flaws, that make them real. Lori and Cole are both strong, well developed characters, their story will tempt readers to stay up far to late to finish. Be prepared for this emotionally charged, Provocative, Sexy, Romance that is filled with white-hot intimacy. You don’t want to miss this! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my goodness! This was so good! Lori is literally working herself to death trying to pay off debts so she can get her mother out of the dump they have ended up living in after her father’s death and her mother’s resultant stroke when between jobs she runs into the one man she cannot ignore…her destiny. Cole Brooks is one hot man but more than that, he is a hot, honest, and driven attorney and after colliding with Lori on the sidewalk and the chance meeting and sparks he is hooked. Later when another chance meeting after Cat runs out on Lori when they were to have drinks and dinner turns into a one-night stand. One hot and memorable night turns into obsession for Cole and haunting for Lori and several weeks later kismet when Lori wins the scholarship which will allow her to finish her Law degree while working for Reese’s firm and, surprise, she ends up the intern for his new partner, Cole. Okay, I have told you too much already but it is enough to whet your appetite and you have to read this book and read it now. You don’t have to read Cat and Reese’s story to understand this one as this is a standalone but the first one is just as good so don’t miss that one either.
Definitely a don’t miss and one of the best so far this year!
Fast paced and steamy and hot, modern day Cinderella story.
This is Book 2 in the Dirty Rich series and it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
Cole and Lorie’s story was sexy and easy to follow. Their characters were well developed and the banter between them was funny clever and sharp.
Both characters were strong willed a opinionated so their battles over control were fun to read and just sit back and enjoy.
There are some forbidden aspects to their story that added a little edge to their situation.
A great read to enjoy for beach summer reading.
3.5 stars!
5 SEXY STARS!! As always this author delivers a phenomenal story with all the sexiness, suspense and fantastic characters. Lori and Cole’s story will keep you turning pages and never wanting it to end. This is book 2 in the Dirty Rich series and they are both worth a 1-Click. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I absolutely loved this second book in the Dirty Rich series. Lori and Cole are a great match. Neither realizes it at the time. A chance encounter has them meeting when Lori is rushing to get to work after leaving her friend and boss Cat’s house. She literately runs into Cole who is on his way to a meeting. He asks for her name and number and Lori refuses. Both think of the other throughout the day and run into each other later that same day. They share a passionate night and Lori leaves the next morning . Cole is mad at himself for not getting Lori’s last name or number. He returns home wondering if he will ever see her again. Some time passes and the two eventually meet again not knowing that they have mutual friends in common. From there the sparks fly. Lori has her doubts about Cole at times and Cole is guarded at times. These two have so much chemistry together that even their friends can see the connection they have to one another. I loved the way Ms Jones has characters from her other books make appearance. Such as the Walker Security employees. This is a very well written book which has you wondering at times whether Lori and Cole will be able prove that their clients are innocent and whether the two of them can get past the obstacles that seem to get in their way of having an HEA. All Lori wants to do is prove her worth and that she can make it on her own. All Cole wants to do is support and protect Lori. They are better together than apart. The just need the chance to figure it out. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
One thing is for sure. Dirty Rich Cinderella Story is dirty and I gobbled it up quickly. It is the second installment in the Dirty Rich Series but can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Lori was a rising star at Stanford and nine months short of obtaining her law degree when her mother got sick. She made the decision to move home to care for her mother and in doing so, gave up her dreams. Working a full time job and three part time jobs leaves her with zero time to focus on anything other than work and her mother. Until she ran into a strong chest that changes her world forever. He’s cocky, beautiful and he wants her. Throwing caution to the wind and taking a chance, Lori goes for a one night stand. However, he has other plans.
Cole is a superstar lawyer who has spent his life trying to not be like his father. He pretty much sticks to one night stands but there’s something about Lori that makes him want more. Problem is, she’s a runner. She’s running from him and from her own emotions. Just when he thought he lost her, she’s back in his life and he’s going to make sure she knows they belong together.
First of all, Cole is freaking hot. Whew, that first night they are together was sexy. The battle for control, the banter, the giving up control, all of it combined made it a rememberable scene. I loved how straight forward he was. He got right to the point and he fought for what he wanted. He embraced his feelings, even when it confused him.
If you are looking for a hot and steamy cinderella story with fun banter and strong H/h, then you need to read Dirty Rich Cinderella Story.
Lisa Renee Jones never fails to impress me. Her characters and storylines are so strong and dynamic you are compelled to keep reading in order to find out what happens next. Her standard of excellence and creativity is rarely equaled.
Cinderella runs into her Prince Charming, literally. Both are stunned by the encounter but Lori Havens rebuffs anything further from Cole Brooks. But fate has more in store for when they both show up at the same bar. Assumptions and assessments are made about each other and Lori agrees to a one-night stand because she knows she will never see him again.Cole and Lori’s first night together is so erotically charged it practically arcs off the page because of the electricity between them.
Winning a prestigious scholarship finally allows Lori to re-enter law school and complete her degree AND take care of her financial obligations. Going to work for Reese Summer and his new partner is a dream come true. But, she’s thrown for a loop when she discovers that the new partner, Cole, is her one night stand and the man she walked away from. Thus begins a personal and professional roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows. His trust in her abilities is gratifying and she learns from him daily. Her input on several high profile cases is a tipping point into winning.
They both want and need each other but going all in is terrifyingly real. His need to take care of her and her need not to need him. When he does things to make her life easier and pave the way, she needs to realize he’s offering help not a handout. Trusting him finally removes the last wall between them. He owns her just as she owns him.
I love any kind of romance that even suggests it has a bit of a fairy tale remaking so I was super excited to read Dirty Rich Cinderella Story. It was everything I wanted and so much more!
Lori’s family has had some bad times and as a result she is carrying a heavy financial burden. With her goals of finishing law school put on hold, she works several jobs just to pay off her family’s debt and keep her mother and her above water. When a run in, and then another meeting, with a handsome stranger promises one night of forgetting everything, she debates the wisdom of a one night stand. Her future reputation in law could be at stake but this man is from out of town and this is New York City. Surely they’ve used up all the odds of running in to one another again.
Cole was immediately attracted by the woman that ran smack dab into him in the middle of a busy sidewalk. When he sees her again he immediately makes his move. He’s never felt this way towards anyone before and it’s imperative that he lays his claim on Lori before he loses her again. However, his plan fails spectacularly when the next morning he is alone with nothing but a note.
I loved Cole so much! He was such a good guy and he knew from the beginning that Lori was meant to be in his life. I loved how he obsessed about her, and once he found her again he was determined to have her in his life in a very personal manner. He recognized her needs sometimes before she did and was quick to make sure he met them. Those needs often were of an emotional sort and left him wanting to cling to Lori tight and yet unable to do so for fear of losing her.
Lori was determined to be completely independent. She had seen what relying on a man for your every need could do. Even as she yields to her desire for Cole, she refuses to accept any form of help from him. Everything revolved around her being able to stand on equal footing with him. Admittedly, she was quite a mess at times but I loved her more for all her broken ways of thinking.
This was a wonderful story filled with romance amidst a woman’s stand for independence, when all along she needed to simply accept that love makes the difference between carelessly using someone and allowing them to support you in your time of need. Lori’s journey to that understanding was filled with so many incredible moments where Cole’s affections shined.
This is a well-paced read with wonderful secondary characters that I really enjoyed. The heat level was high and appropriate for the story, the chemistry between these two sizzling. The ending wrapped everything up in a beautiful and heartwarming epilogue that left me grinning crazily. And you know, I do love a happy ending to all my fairy tales!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Dirty Rich Cinderella Story by Lisa Renee Jones is Cole and Lori’s story. This is a beautifully written modern day fairytale romance full of twists and turns, suspense and of course hotness that get you from the first page. I loved this book so much. I wasn’t able to put it down. This author is amazing and doesn’t disappoint with this one!
4.5 stars
“I believe we end up where we’re meant to be,” she says. “We just don’t always understand why until much later.” – Lori
Lori has had a rough go of it lately, but she has been working hard to get herself and her mom back on their feet after the shocks of losing her father, watching her mom suffer a stroke, and then finding out what dire financial straits her dad left them in. She is determined to get them out of debt and eventually get herself back on track to finish her law degree. Her friendship with Cat has gone a long way to restoring her confidence and giving her the opportunity to do the research she loves, but working 4 jobs is taking its toll on her.
When she literally runs into the sexiest man she has seen in a long time outside Cat’s building, walking away from him is one of the hardest things she has done in a long time. When they cross paths again later that day, she decides to do something very uncharacteristic: she agrees to go home with him. She is careful not to reveal too much and lets him assume she is an attorney as well; since he is from out of town, she can have one night of escape and not have to worry about ever seeing him again. One seriously hot night ensues that covers the first 20% of this book in sizzling detail, and Lori takes off in the morning leaving just a note to avoid the awkward goodbye thinking that it will be the last time she sees him. Except Cole has no intention of letting her disappear forever…
Cole Brooks is a successful lawyer in high demand, and Cat’s husband Reese is one of his longtime friends. Merging their two offices will create a new powerhouse firm, and they need an up and coming star in the legal world to join them. Cat and Reese decide to sponsor Lori for a prestigious scholarship and internship that will allow her to finish her degree while working for Reese and his new partner, and of course she is selected- but imagine her surprise when Cole walks in and is introduced as Reese’s new partner on her first day! The chemistry is clearly still there and hiding it from everyone around them will be a challenge, especially since Lori seems to be the only one who wants to hide it.
Lori is a very prideful person who is determined to be no one’s charity case and to make her own way in the world no matter how hard it may be. She will not be seen as the woman who slept her way to the top and she needs to make Cole understand that. Fortunately she has the legitimate talent to back up her selection into the program and her place as Cole’s new right hand woman. He understands her concerns and will do everything he can to protect her but that does not mean he will stop trying to prove to her that they can be so much more together.
Cole finds himself in unfamiliar territory. After being burned pretty badly by a former relationship, he has never been one for attachments or more than a convenient night or two here and there with a woman. From the first moment he met Lori, he knew she was different than anyone else he met before. She is beautiful, intelligent and strong, and she challenges him in all the best ways. He is fighting an uphill battle though between her inherent distrust of men thanks to her father’s secrets and lies as well as a few real jerks in her past. He doesn’t have a winning record in the courtroom by luck though, and it takes all his powers of persuasion to change her mind.
The push and pull dynamic works for them, but I loved the way the author wrote Lori’s character. All too often I find that female leads tend to go from one extreme to the other in their emotional reactions in a way that give me whiplash and no real connection to them. Lori clearly has issues with valid reasons behind them, but when she has a freak out moment, she isn’t afraid to own it and address it immediately. She is intelligent and confident without being a bitch although there are a few times her insecurities cause some friction between her and Cole. He is a man who is used to being in control, so the way she distracts him and causes knee jerk emotional reactions in him throws him for a loop a little too often for his comfort level. When they take on a case that may put her in the line of fire, it’s time for them both to make a choice about what they want from the future or they will both find themselves in the crosshairs of someone with revenge on their mind.
Clearly some of the characters in this book have appeared in the author’s previously published works, but I was able to read and fully enjoy Dirty Rich Cinderella Story as a standalone without having read either the prior book in the series or any of the Walker Security books. That being said, I really loved the secondary characters of Reese and Cat as well as the supporting cast from Walker Security so those books are now on my TBR list for the immediate future! If you love a story with great characters and plenty of sizzle with a little bit of action and suspense thrown in, then you need to read Dirty Rich Cinderella Story!
She literally ran into him while leaving her morning job. The impact produced scorching heat between them and for the rest of the day, neither of them could forget the encounter.
Meeting him again that night at a nearby pub after work was a coincidence neither of them could pass up. It was an itch they both had to scratch with promises of no full names or personal information shared. A one night stand should not lead to consequences. Right?
Engrossing, emotional, and steamy… this book will have you biting your nails. Definitely, the type of book you will want to read in one sitting. This is a story for all of you romantics who believe in love at first sight. Swooning while you read is guaranteed!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thank you to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Love Cinderella & her Prince Charming!
I loved this book! Cole was everything, & I wish I could find a Cole! Lori frustrated me, but the beauty of Lisa’s writing is that I understood her & empathized with her. Once they decided to really be in a relationship is when the book really soared for me. I also loved that we got some glimpses of Reese & Cat from Dirty Rich One Night Stand, but you do not need to read that book to enjoy this one (but you should as it’s a great book!). This book will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, & you will not regret reading it!
ETA: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars!
I can’t tell you how much I adore finding heroes who are all in from the start! I’m a big fan of man chases woman scenarios. They aren’t as easy to find as you would think in contemporary romance.
Cole doesn’t profess his love at first site but you know from their first meeting that he is ensnared by Lori. She’s a game changer for him. I also love that despite this, the author doesn’t make them automatically a couple. There is struggle to the new feelings they are both experiencing as well as adjusting to how their lives will change.
I adored Cole and as much as I liked Lori’s strong character, she did get in her own way a lot with him. This is where the Cinderella in the title comes in. Cole is a very successful lawyer who also comes from family money. Lori was unable to finish law school due to her father passing and her mother having a stroke. They have bills upon bills that have kept Lori from returning to law school.
This is where Lori’s strong character gets in her way. All she sees is that Cole and her come from different worlds. She wants him but she also needs to learn that his need for her will show in the way he wants to take care of her. It’s a battle she will have to fight within herself and with him.
As much as I love this couple, I also love watching them work together on Cole’s cases. It made for a fast paced story filled with exciting drama that wasn’t all about relationship drama. You also get to see some fo the Walker security men in this book. I’m a fan and I want more!
oh wow…What a rollercoaster ride!
The story of Lori and Cole… Cole is one very tall, sexy and dominate male and Lori is not afraid to push back at Cole…
It’s a standalone but Cat and Reese from Dirty Rich One Night Stand feature in it quite a bit!
Lori’s world crashed down in the past, and is still trying to survive with her mother…
Cole is a big attorny in another state, and they are having an one night stand after running in to each other..
Cole was immediately attracted by Lori, but the next morning he is alone with nothing but a note.
After some time they meet again, and Lori is still determined to be completely independent..
His need to take care of her and her need not to need him is getting in the way..
but there is al lot of trust from his side.. something he does never give to others, so, slowly, he is winning her heart… but will it be enough?
I loved the book, loved to see some old characters, a book I found hard to leave once started!
Lisa Renee Jones does not disappoint! This stand alone in the Dirty Rich books. Lori, an assistant to Cat from the Dirty Rich One Night Stand book, is working four jobs to make ends meet. Her world all came crashing down at one time, her father died and her mother had a stroke. Lori dropped out of Stanford Law School even though she was the top of her class to take care of her mom and working to try to dig them out of the financial hole her father left them. In the process of running from one job to another she run into a man on the street spilling her bag on the street. She is instantly attracted to him but is in a rush to get to her job. Later, Cat ask her to meet in a bar at their building. She thinks Cat is going to fire her but instead Cat informs her that she and Reese have nominated her for a scholarship that will allow her to finish law school as well as pay her a monthly stipend. However, Cat needs to run and leaves Lori alone telling her to order what ever she wants and put it on her tab. It isn’t long before she is encountered by the man she ran into, Cole. She ends up going home with him for the night, allowing him to spank her, but she refuses to give him her last name but this is a one time thing, she can’t risk more. The following morning, she leaves while Cole is in the shower.
Cole knew he shouldn’t have left her alone and now he has to go back to Houston to finish up so that they can complete this merger. He can’t get Lori off his mind. No woman does this to him. He has women when he wants them but that is it, nothing more. When he arrives in Houston, he ask his assistant to track down a lawyer in New York named Lori, spelled L-O-R-I. He can’t give her any other details. Unfortunately, the lawyers Ashley tracks down by the name Lori, checking alternate spellings as well, is not her. He can’t get her off his mind, even turning down the ADA that he has occasionally slept with over the years.
The merger in place he returns to New York, where he has joined forces with Reese. It is also Lori’s first day as part of her scholarship program. Both of them are taken aback when they encounter each other at the introduction of the new partner, Cole Brooks. This begins the push and pull between them as Lori is assigned to Cole’s team. He will be her mentor. However, he wants, no needs, much more with Lori. Lori doesn’t want to be accused of sleeping her way to the top. She doesn’t want to be at the mercy of Cole’s position or money, she won’t let him have that hold that over her. Lori doesn’t want a man to take care of her, she can take care of herself. She will not be in the position that her father left her mother in, debt, struggling, living in a tiny apartment. She will dig them out on her own.
The push and pull goes on. Lori and Cole make an excellent legal team. She assist him with a case of a diva actress in L.A. Things seem to be going well, Lori is spending most nights with Cole, but returning home before her mother gets home from work. One of her rules was that Cole not come to her apartment but he breaks that rule, even coming inside when invited by her mother, and she can’t deal with him taking over her life. She tells him she needs space. After going to pay on her mother’s hospital bill and finding out it has been paid off Lori goes to Cole’s. She is absolutely LIVID by this point but it doesn’t end at all as she expects.
READING PROGRESS
“My one-time Prince Charming with mad bedroom and courtroom skills.”
The characters from the first book in the Dirty Rich series are part of this story, so you’ll meet them, but you can comfortably read this one as a standalone. Actually, I’m pretty damn sure if you do, you’ll love them and want to go back and read Reese & Cat’s story too. So far, both male leads have been lawyers, but with the Dirty Rich title there’s no telling where the author might take us next. They also have high profile clients that have exciting events requiring representation and of course it’s always great when the Walker Security team gets pulled in too. So many possibilities to look forward to.
Lori is struggling just to survive her very demanding day-to-day responsibilities of working three jobs, paying a mountain of bills, and worrying about her mother. There’s no time for anything else in her life and men have not even been on her radar for a long time. Well, I guess he wasn’t either, considering she literally ran into him. But now that she’s seen him, that faulty radar is working just fine. The signal is very strong and flashing red lights at her. He’s taking up space in her head, invading her thoughts and fantasies. Walking away from him was a mistake and she regretted it immediately.
Cole is not a manwhore, but he’s not looking for a relationship either. When he’s working on a case he puts his everything into it. His job is demanding enough and he doesn’t need anything or anyone else to distract him. When he runs into Lori he’s struck, literally , by her beauty. He wants to spend some more time with her and tries to convince her to meet him before he leaves town. He’s disappointed when she refuses, and he doesn’t even have her name to contact her again later.
How exciting it was for me to witness the impact of their first meeting. Of course, my mind went crazy with anticipation and possibilities as I imagined them finally connecting, in spite of Lori’s refusal. I knew it was gonna happen, I just didn’t know when or how. The pages of my Kindle practically turned themselves as I devoured this story from start to finish with very few breaks in between. Yes, I cursed those necessary but brief interruptions every time they took me away from all the goodness, #BossFantasy #NaughtyAssociate #WithoutLimits #PrinceCharming #Cinderella, etc…
And then there was more goodness in the form of research, suspects, investigations and courtroom drama. Never forget to, “Think beyond the file.” I loved these legal eagles together as they challenged each other, fighting to win, angling to be on top… of each other. Their sharp wit and sense of humor were very entertaining, whether they were in the office, the car, the bedroom or in the air. Cole has never lost a case in court, but would he lose her? Would her pride keep her heart on lockdown? Would her determination to dig herself out of her debt without help from anyone be all that she’s left with at the end?
I really enjoyed Dirty Rich Cinderella Story and after being introduced to some awesome support characters I’m even more excited to continue the series. I can’t wait to see what the author has planned for her readers next. The line forms here…
