I care too much about Cammy Wesley to marry her… friendship by pushing for something more.
I can’t be her forever.
I’m not that guy. I’m the good time. The class clown. The hockey stud. I’m the happy for now, not the happily ever after.
I stay in my lane, but when Cammy’s ex needs a lesson, the rash overprotective part of me jumps the boards and I go from best friend to fake boyfriend in the span of a kiss. And that’s just the beginning. Because when it comes to Cammy, there’s nothing I won’t do for her.
Even if it’s guaranteed to wreck me.

This was another fantastic read to add to an outstanding series, it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the previous two books.
Nothing beats a fun and flirty romance, throw in some hockey hunks with a great storyline and you’ll be hooked!
Rux and Cammy certainly had me on the edge of my seat but it was completely worth it. Perfect!
Mira Lyn Kelly gets a hat trick with book three in the Slayers Hockey series, DIRTY REBOUND. There is nothing NHL star Ruxton (Rux) Meyers would not do for his best friend, single mother, Cammy Wesley. So, when she needs someone to be her fake boyfriend, he is there for her. Unfortunately, they both have feelings for each other, and Rux thinks that she deserves someone better then him. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers. It takes place in Chicago.
Cammy is the younger sister of Julia Bearings from DIRTY PLAYER (Back to You #2); and Rux is the best friend of Greg Baxter from the same book. I was thrilled that Mira Lyn Kelly wrote Rux and Cammy’s story. I love these two together. Rux is supper protective of her and her son, Matty. The two have significant issues to overcome throughout the novel; including Cammy’s ex wanting her back.
DIRTY REBOUND is skillfully written and entertaining throughout. This is a novel that has the potential to give you a book hangover because it is hard to put down. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports romances and/or friends to lover’s romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This friends to lovers to forever book was absolutely one of the best books I’ve read this year so far!! I loved Cammy and Rux so much and they were absolutely perfect for each other!! Can’t wait for more of the Slayers!
Dirty Rebound is the third story in the Slayers Hockey, and my favorite so far. I loved Rux and Cammy!! They were best friends, who cared about one another, their banter was fun, and they had undeniable chemisty. Add in how Rux stepped up to be their for her, and her son. Yep I’m a goner!
I like that we get to see past characters, and a bit of hockey playing too.
I can’t wait for the next book!
Rux is a hockey player and best friends with Cammy. Cammy is a single mom just trying to make it in life. A steamy time is had when the friends end up trying out a benefits part to their relationship. Rux doesn’t think he’s good enough for Cammy. Cammy is lonely just like Rux and is all in on their relationship. Loved it.
A fun and sexy story. I loved the connection, the banter and the steamy chemistry. I loved the characters and they captivated me from the beginning. It’s an entertaining read and a must have!!
Best friends will do just about anything for each other, right? Rux steps it up when Cammy asks him to do something most friends wouldn’t do.
Cammy is a single mother who wants stability and security for her and her son one day. But when her sons father steps back into the picture, he doesn’t want to appear to be single. Rux her best friends steps up to the plate and helps her achieve just that. He would do anything to keep her happy,.
The Slayers Hockey series is fun and I love it so much! This is hands down one of my favorite series I have ever read. I enjoyed how soft she made Rux and getting to hear his story.
I absolutely adored Rux and Cammy! They are total best friend goals! I love the way he’s there for Cammie and Matty. They both are the sweetest, most genuine people. All it took was one well intentioned kiss to have them seeing each other in a new light. Talk about smoking hot chemistry! Gah! I love a friends-to-lovers romance and add in hockey hotness and I’m a goner! Can’t wait for more Slayers!!
I loved Rux and Cammy!
They’ve been best friends for years but one kiss makes them want so much more. Will friends with benefits be enough? Will it lead to more? Or will it ruin everything?
I could not put this one down and read it in one sitting.
I loved this book so much. Rux and Cammy are so good together. They have great
chemistry and their friendship turning into an actual relationship was such
a natural progression, even though they didn’t see it that way.
Wow!! Wow!! Wow!!! Waiting for Rux and Cammy to realize they were really dating before this book was frustrating for me. I kept telling them very patiently while reading them as support characters that they needed to get it together. I love how Mira Lynn Kelly writes these characters as if I could talk some sense into them. Rux is adorable and hot beyond belief. He has become Cammy’s best friend and first confidant. Cammy has become Rux’s best friend as well. He helps with her son to the point that Cammy feels safe leaving him with Rux. As a single mom that’s everything. The relationship they have as well is the most trusting friendship between a man and a woman that I have ever seen. Cammy’s ex comes back into the picture and a douche that Cammy dated for a short time make Rux realize what Cammy really means to him. The man at the beginning of this book is not the man at the end. Even Cammy has such growth throughout this book that I am so proud of what they become.
Rux and Cammy have been best friends for years. Rux has been there to help Cammy with her young son. Neither of them would ever think about jeopardizing the friendship they have. But when Rux finds himself impulsively kissing Cammy in order to help her shake off a disastrous date, they both allow themselves to look at each other differently for the first time. What they see is an attraction that is simmering beneath the surface, but also can threaten all that they’ve built together.
I thought Rux and Cammy’s story was so well balanced. Between their unshakable friendship and the undeniable chemistry between them. The way they moved from that friendship into something more felt like a natural progression rather than something that was completely inconceivable. Which is why is was really easy to root for these characters together.
So it’s kind of their separate issues that bring about the conflicts. Rux is dealing with taking a larger roll within the Slayers. He came from the wild card of the team, you weren’t sure if he was going to be a reliable player, to the rock, the person who grounds everyone else. It’s a tall order and Rux definitely questions his capabilities and it shows in the way he plays. Which adds a whole other layer of stress on top of everything else.
Cammy has been a single mother since she found out she was pregnant with her son. Now, seven years later, and her son’s father wants to be in the picture which is long overdue. But it also changes the dynamic and the routing she has with her son. She wants to be accommodating to her son’s father, she wants her son to have a good relationship with him, but it’s stressful adding another element into the life they built. Plus the fact that her ex seems to have ulterior motives of his own going on and it definitely throws a wrench in what’s happening between Rux and Cammy. I love a friends to lovers trope as much as the next person and I think Dirty Rebound is a perfect example of it.
Mira Lyn Kelly has built a great community around the hockey team and the various players and their significant others. I love seeing the interactions between all the characters past and present. I like that we get glimpses of where previous couples are now, the good and the bad. It feels real and it feels like family. I’m ready for all the players to get their HEA.

4.5 Stars
I really liked these two and their deep and honest friendship. They are meant to be together as long as they remain open and honest with each other
If you’ve yet to read the blurb for this book, feel free to jump in blind. I kid you not. All you basically need to know is that the main characters are best friends and she’s a single mom and he’s a hockey player. I loved Cammy and Rux’s closeness, and how there wasn’t even a hint of anything romantic going on between them. Even that shift from platonic to romantic felt organic, no matter how these two may have tried to kid themselves that they were nothing no more than friends…who happened to be hot for each other…all the time. But see, the thing is, that friendship was there all throughout, even when they started sleeping together, and gah, there was how Rux and Matty had their own special closeness. Oh, and Cammy with Julia and Rux with Greg. Basically, I loved everything about Dirty Rebound. EVERYTHING. Five-plus stars.
Cammy and Rux are such cuties!! I know labeling a big strong hockey stud with a sugary sweet unicorn cupcake description doesn’t work well but… he so is! And the fact that he doesn’t know he is makes him even cuter and sweeter!
Single mom Cammy and commitment-phobe Rux are super close besties. So much that people wonder why they aren’t actually a couple. But they are very secure on the just friends freeway. One fake, just for show kiss has them exiting onto the temporary friends with steamy benefits expressway. They are both trying to avoid the sharp turn into the long term love and commitment tunnel. So much fun!!
I love this story and all the Slayers hockey books in this series!
The Slayers Hockey series just goes from strength to strength. Dirty Rebound is book 3, giving us Rux and Cammy’s story. I’m pretty sure this is my favorite in the series so far. I really fell in love with Cammy and Rux’s relationship. Their close and deep friendship, their mutual support of one another, their chemistry and passion. I’ve been dying for their story since Dirty player, and we finally get it. And it was a beautiful one at that.
I love this series! I am such a huge fan of these stories. There’s laughter, you get all the big feels and plenty of steam. I loved every second of this story and I can’t wait to see what is next from Mira Lyn Kelly.
Dirty Rebound is the 3rd book in the Slayers Hockey series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend reading the series in order as there are some overlapping characters!
I adored this book. Friends to lovers is one of my all-time favorite tropes and Mira Lyn Kelly did it so well! Cammy and Rux have a great friendship. We saw it in the previous books and get a closer look in this one. I LOVE Rux and Matty’s relationship. It was so sweet. I also loved that this book was fairly low-angst. I hate when a single-parent romance is super angsty, because usually that affects the child.
This was a definite 5 star for me! I recommend this book and the whole series.
This is hand down the best book I’ve read from Mira. I’m in love with Rux, Cammy and her seven year old son Matty. I couldn’t stop reading and when I finished I was hoping it had some more pages so I could get my fill with them. This book is steamy, funny, with a little of angst, a lot of amazing friendship and did I say steamy? Daaaamn…. Rux knew what he was doing!
Cammy and Rux have been best friends for a long time. They are honest with each other, always being there when needed and they also make one another laugh every time. He calls her Sunshine, but damn if he isn’t her sunshine as well.
They work so well together and I understand how they were afraid to loose their friendship. Their chemistry was impeccable and hot. And I got butterflies in my stomach every single time they were together, they were relationship goals.
But she wanted someone to be her forever, someone relatable, who loves her so much that wanted to get married and complete her little family with her son. Rux loves Cammy and Matty to pieces, but there’s something he is hiding from his past that makes him think he is impulsive, irresponsible and unreliable when comes to relationship. And that he would be a good husband ou father.
My feelings were all over the place with their break up, man my gut was twisting and I just wanted them to be together so much, their love were so beautiful it hurts. And when his secret was revealed, omg! I wasn’t expecting that.
This best friends to lovers it’s so good and the ending left my face with a big smile, even bigger after I’ve read the bonus epilogue! Another amazing sports romance from Mira, it’s a must read.
This is the 3rd book in this amazing series and is Rux and Cammy’s story. Rux is the sexy, fun, and sweet team clown who enjoys making everyone laugh, and an added bonus he is a cuddler. Cammy is a single mom to a little boy, and she and Rux are best friends, and he will do anything he has to protect her from her ex. These two have busy lives who underneath are basically lonely and looking for companionship, and a kiss can change everything. This is a beautifully written tale which is emotional, sweet, fun, entertaining, and filled with witty banter which all leads to a humorous and riveting tale. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, and I highly recommend this authors’ work for all.
You know when you read about the first kiss and it catches your breath in your throat and steals your heart you know you have a book for the ages.
Ruxton is by far one of the best kissers I have ever read! He is all slight touches and gentle hands. He is all about the almost kiss. He leans in and there is spark and magic before his lips even touch. Rux is such an amazing character for a talented hockey player he lacks that little push to grab hold of what he wants. For his hockey game it took his best buddy Greg to push him forward and show him he can be the best. For his heart it is simply his sunshine, Cammy.
Cammy is the doing it all living her best life single mom. She is juggling her job, her sweet boy Matty, and the fact that after 7 years Matty’s dad is back in Chicago. Cammy wants her life to appear as she is doing great on all fronts including her love life. The Blip of bad dates leads to a kiss from Rux that shatters their very established friendship routine and leads to some of the best, swooniest, romantic love I have read in a minute.
Rux and Cammy are so established in their long running friendship they haven’t realized that they truly love each other in more than the friendship way. That first kiss is a catalyst that leads to wonder woman undies and both opening to the possibility of an always.
The added conflict of Rux’s position on his hockey team, his self-doubts, and Matty’s dad lead to a phenomenal read. The bonus of very brief glances of the other members of the Chicago Slayers is total bonus points!
I love Slayer’s hockey! I am a huge fan of these stories. You laugh, you get all the big feels and plenty of steam. Dirty Rebound is a 5/5 star for me. I loved every second of this story! I can’t wait to see what is next from Kelly.
