I care too much about Cammy Wesley to marry her… friendship by pushing for something more.
I can’t be her forever.
I’m not that guy. I’m the good time. The class clown. The hockey stud. I’m the happy for now, not the happily ever after.
I stay in my lane, but when Cammy’s ex needs a lesson, the rash overprotective part of me jumps the boards and I go from best friend to fake boyfriend in the span of a kiss. And that’s just the beginning. Because when it comes to Cammy, there’s nothing I won’t do for her.
Even if it’s guaranteed to wreck me.

“And I’m thinking about that first kiss at the Five Hole, and how sometimes those rash decisions from our past give us a future better than we ever imagined.”
It’s 3 am in my corner of the world and I have to work tomorrow. I swore to myself I would pace myself and enjoy the story, taking my time. That’s out the window now.
Friends to lovers is my favorite trope. And this is perfect. I can’t believe the book is over.
So, Cammy, the single mom who never got to enjoy her younger years after being left pregnant by her boyfriend. Not that she regrets it, because she has Matty, her son, her whole world.
Plus, she has Rux, the hot hockey player who is so devoted to her and who is there for her every step of the way.
And they’re friends. Amazing friends. And one kiss changes it all and kickstarts this book into something phenomenal.
It’s a friends-to-lovers story. It’s also a second-chance story for a girl who thought she’d always be left behind and a guy who has no idea how amazing he is. They have no idea how worthy they are and how much they deserve to be happy.
These two made me smile, cry, giggle, broke my heart into tiny pieces and patched it up again. It made me believe in love.
Mira, if you ever read this: this is what you were meant to do with your life. You were meant to write these stories.
If there was a chance to give it 10 stars instead of 5, I would surely take it.
Loved this Mira Lynn Kelly friends to lovers. Couldn’t stop reading! Sexy and heartwarming and all the feels!
Hot, hot, hot…and hockey! What more could you want from a steamy sports romance?
This book had me at Hockey, but Mira Lyn Kelly kept me there with a great, steamy story!!!!
You had me at Hockey!
This is book 3 of the Slayers Hockey series. Rux is a professional hockey player whose best friend is married to Cammy’s sister. Cammy is a single mom. Rux and Cammy have been best friends for years. After Cammy’s latest loser boyfriend breaks up with her, Rux kisses her to show she has moved on. Rux and Cammy then decide to add benefits to the friendship and the feelings that both of them have been denying come bursting forth. They are both worried that their friendship would not survive if they give their relationship a real chance so they keep the friendship and the benefits in separate boxes. On their way to their HEA, they both have to trust in who they are and embrace the leap of faith love requires. I loved the give and take between the two of them along with the interactions with Cammy’s son. The love and the fear of the characters was palpable and relatable. I love when real issues – like family difficulties and blended families – are included in romances, it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded storylines. I will definitely keep reading more of this great series.
Enjoyable friends to lovers romance. Cammy got knocked up by her high school boyfriend Jeremy at eighteen. Jeremy abandoned her, and she had to raise her son Matt on her own. It’s seven years later, and she is best friends with Rux, a professional hockey player for the Chicago Slayers. Rux has been Cammy and Matty’s go-to person for the past two years. Of course, they start a bit of a fake relationship that morphs into a “friends with benefits” situation. Throw in the ex Jeremy who comes back and wants a relationship with his son and Cammy, and you have a fun read.
Loved this book! Such a sweet and sexy story – adored Rux and Cammy. Laughed, swooned and even cried! Will defo check out the rest of the series.
Dirty Rebound is a hot, swoony, feely, friends-to-lovers hockey romance. So basically all of my favorite things.
Rux is a hot, sweet, caring professional hockey player who doesn’t want a relationship because of his past.
Cammy is a single-mom who will do just about anything for her son and is best friends with Rux. When the two decide to give in to their desires they catch on fire.
This is the third book in Slayers hockey series and each book does not disappoint.
4.5 stars!
Dirty Rebound by Mira Lynn Kelly is the 3rd book in her Slayers Hockey Series. These books are short, sweet and sexy and I am loving them. This story is a fantastic friends to lovers story that I could not put down. Rux plays for The Slayers hockey team. Cammy is his sisters best friend and she and Rux are friends as well. He’s already been there in a platonic way for her and her, son Matty until one moment in time he kisses her. For show at first but then another kiss happens and my goodness it was so tender and so sweet there was no way they could stop from there. Gah I loved them. They captured my heart and I couldn’t get enough of them. Their chemistry was off the charts sexy and not to mention the raw emotions when they really open up to each between their hopes and fears. Cammy’s son, Matty was adorable. I loved his connection with Rux and the bond they formed was the sweetest. This was my favourite in the series so far. It can be read as standalone but for the full reading experience I recommend reading Dirty Secret and Dirty Hookup first.
Always a fun time reading Mira Lyn Kelly’s romances! There’s something for everyone – humor, heart, heat, just enough drama to spice it up, but not so much drama that you feel trampled.
Although Dirty Rebound is book 3 in the Slayers Hockey Series, it can be read as a standalone. if you’re the type of person that wants to know the other characters/couples history first, then go back to book one and come back here soon, but it’s not necessary and does not detract from the experience.
Rux has always been a character that I wanted to know more about, so I’m glad we finally got his story. Cammy, and her son Matty, sure do bring a lot of spark to his life. Rux is having some confidence issues, feeling the pressure of being stand-in captain of the hockey team, putting a lot of pressure on himself. His best friend, Cammy bring so much light and sunshine to his life, and they’ve always just been friends. But soon, their friendship develops into more, and frankly, I love when couples already have a bond of friendship before diving into the romance. Their banter is great, and their chemistry is through the roof.
Thank you, Mira Lyn Kelly, for writing Rux, Cammy and Matty’s story. They really deserve that HEA.
Rating is more like 4.5.
This is the 3rd book in the Slayers Hockey series from Ms. Kelly. Like the others before, you do not need to read the prior books to follow this story, but you might appreciate the characters more.
This is a great take on a friends-to-lovers story. Cammy and Rux are the best of friends but neither has ever thought about anything more for their own specific reason. They love their relationship and would do anything for each other. Of course this leads them to situations where their relationship starts to bend.
I thought these characters were amazing. I appreciate how they always looked out for each other as well as their friends and family. They were caring, funny and still had flaws like most people.
I can’t wait to continue reading all of the new addition to the series.
Mira Lyn Kelly absolutely blew it out of the water with Rux and Cammy in Dirty Rebound. This is by far one of my favorite friends to lovers story yet.
Rux is convinced he isn’t good enough for his best friend Cammy. But when the two of them decide to try out being friends with benefits, things turn explosive.
Reading as they delved deeper into their relationship together was hot hot hot. Mira puts so much into her stories it’s truly addictive. They’re so well written that you feel like you want to make yourself a part of their world.
Can’t get enough of Mira’s book and am excited to see what’s in store next.
Book 3 in the Slayers Hockey series and it was so good. A great friends to lovers romance. Loved Cammy and Rux. They were so good together and had an intense and steamy chemistry that will leave you swooning and fanning yourself. Loved watching them move from friends to friends with benefits to true love. Great read and I can’t wait to read more from Mira.
This delectable read delivers all the feels and swoony-ness you could ask for. I fell really hard for Rux and I adored Cammy. As a couple this two Rocked. The story had me completely focused and eager to keep reading in spite of what else I had to do. So I advise you to plan accordingly!!! LOL All joking aside, this was just such a wonderful read about two people totally made for each other (Regardless of what they thought). Filled with emotion, sweetness, humor, drama and desire, this heart melting romance really scores! This is my impartial, independent review.
I always rave about how Kelly writes perfect friends-to-lovers.
This is not an exception. Worst book hangover I’ve had in years (that’s a good thing for all you non-worms out there).
Cammy and Rux have the kind of relationship we all only dream of – open, free, and full of tenderness and laughter.
That underwear scene… OMG I won’t spoil but I was dying from a mixture of laughter and swooning.
These two are perfect. This book is perfect.
Highly recommend starting with: Dirty Player, Dirty Secret and Dirty Hookup
There are no more words and I don’t know what to do with myself *cries*
5++ love, love STARS!!!
This is one of the best friends to lovers stories I have read in my entire reading journey (I’m old you guys so that’s saying something!) … Do with that information what you will LOL
It’s no secret I’m a fan of Mira. She’s good people, an outstanding friend and even better author. I’ve read just about every word she’s ever written and sometimes, she does this thing where I can feel her in the story. I know, a little weird and creepy probably, but I know Mira and this story is Mira! She made me all kinds of happy with this one and I just can’t stop smiling over it!
These two, Rux and Cammy, have been best of friends for quite some time. Honestly, they were always more than just best of friends, they just didn’t see it! lol They were each other’s rock, shoulder, sounding board and all around go-to person with everything. Until love, love made an appearance and there was no turning back!
GLORIOUS feel-good, low on the angst and heavy on the love, magnificent spark from cover to cover, romance journey!! EPIC I tell ya!
Ruxton Meyers, Slayers Hockey player, is a player. He loves kids, he’s a great friend, and an AWESOME hockey player. But he isn’t a “white picket fences” kind of guy. He knows this and is very upfront when “dating”. His best friend, Cammy, knows this as well. When Rux finds out Cammy’s latest boyfriend dumps her and only used her for Slayers tickets, he’s beyond mad. So, he does what any other best friend would do, he kisses Cammy in front of the her ex.
Cammy, a single mom to an adorable, impressionable boy, wants the dream. She wants a man who loves her son as much as he loves her. Although Rux has been a great friend and a good role model to her son, she knows nothing could ever come of a relationship with him. Rux and Cammy are better as best friends and she doesn’t want to risk losing her best friend over a “friends with benefits” relationship. Once the kissing starts, they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. The chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS! But when Cammy’s ex pops back into her life, Cammy has to make some hard decisions. Although Rux HATES Jeremy, Cammy’s ex, he’s certain he’s not in it for the long haul—or is he?
If you’re looking for an Alpha with a soft, gooey inside, Rux is your man! He and Cammy’s son are adorable together! I loved the family picture he drew of Rux, Cammy, and himself. The chemistry was HOT! The matching Superman-Wonder Woman undies reminded me of my childhood days when Underoos were the “in” thing. Amazing story, relatable, and funny. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
I absolutely loved this book. Watching Rux and Cammy discover the relationship they THINK is one of friendship has changed and grown over the years to become something much larger, and much more important than either of them could have realized was so much fun. I loved their relationship from the start, so it was wonderful to watch them navigate their way to their happy-ever-after.. These two are so sweet together, but also scorchingly hot. I can’t recommend this book enough. (I should note that while this is a book in a series it can be read as a standalone. Getting to reconnect with characters from earlier books isn’t at all confusing, but is fun!)
Note: I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
Does Rux love her enough to let her go?
Dirty Rebound has a best friends to lovers’ story but when you throw in Cammie’s son Matty it changes everything when Rux has to decide if he loves Cammie enough to let her go when Matty’s father returns after seven years and wants to be a family with Cammie.
Dirty Rebound is the third book in the Slayers Hockey Series and if you like good hockey romance you need to read it.
