I care too much about Cammy Wesley to marry her… friendship by pushing for something more.
I can’t be her forever.
I’m not that guy. I’m the good time. The class clown. The hockey stud. I’m the happy for now, not the happily ever after.
I stay in my lane, but when Cammy’s ex needs a lesson, the rash overprotective part of me jumps the boards and I go from best friend to fake boyfriend in the span of a kiss. And that’s just the beginning. Because when it comes to Cammy, there’s nothing I won’t do for her.
Even if it’s guaranteed to wreck me.

This has been my favorite book in the series so far! Even though it can be read as a stand alone book, I would strongly suggest reading the previous books first. I loved Cammy since we were first introduced to her, she has been a single mom for years since her ex took off leaving her to raise their son alone. Rux has been her best friend for years, he’s not only been a steady friend for her but also for her son. When her ex returns, wanting to be a part of their son’s life, Rux has to decide if he truly wants Cammy as more than a friend. We learn why Rux thinks he wouldn’t make a nice boyfriend & why he hasn’t made a move on Cammy til now.
Dirty Rebound is a delicious friends to lovers romance with all of the feels and doubts but sometimes you just have to know deep in your heart that love will win out!! I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
Rux and Cammy were friends and end up being friends with benefits. Rux knows that he is not what Cammy needs to end up with and decides that he will end ot before he gets too involved. But is it too late and will he lose what he wants most in the world.
It was just as good as I expected. I loved Rux and Cammy! And Matty. And seeing everyone else that I’ve loved in the previous books. Lots of sweetness and emotions. I was captured from the first page! I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
These two! If you’ve read the other two books in the Slayers Hockey series, you know Rux is a love em and leave em type who believes he’s not boyfriend/husband material and is completely upfront regarding his belief. Cammy is a wonderful single mom dedicated to her son, Matty. BFF’s, Rux and Cammy have a wonderful relationship, and each would do anything for the others’ happiness. And, Rux is wonderful with little Matty.
When we learn why Rux believes he wouldn’t be a good boyfriend or husband, you get a glimpse just how large this man’s heart is and my heart broke just a bit for him.
Thanks to the author for an ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review.
This is book three in the Slayers Hockey Series and you are going to want to pick this up! Though it can be read as a standalone I really think you will love it even more after you have read the first two books in the series.
I LOVED Rux and Cammy, oh and not forgetting Cammy’s son Matty who is just adorable!
I loved Rux when we first met him so always knew his story was going to be amazing. Rux is at a bit of a crossroads in his career, he is currently the stand in captain as his best mate and captain is out injured and things are going so well on the ice, he feels he is letting everyone down, there is always the worry of being traded.
Cammy and Rux are best friends, she is a single mom to an adorable, bright little boy Matty who is her “sunshine”.
Cammy and Rux are usually hanging out after games together, they’re friends that hug and kiss apart from one time when one kiss leads to way much more!
I was completely hooked from the minute I started reading this. There chemistry is so hot I am surprised it doesn’t melt the ice!
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series..
Dirty Rebound is the third book in the Slayers Hockey series by Mira Lyn Kelly. You can read each book in the series as standalone but I recommend reading them all since they are connected to the team players. They each have their own kind of story but all fun, sexy with lovable characters. Rux and Cammy have been supporting characters with a friendship and now it’s time for them to have some fun…
Fun. That’s what Ruxton Meyers is all about. You looking for a good time? Rux will give it to you. Looking for forever? You can just keep walking by him. He doesn’t want the happily ever after. He knows it. Everyone else knows it. Especially his best friend, Cammy. He isn’t some kind of manwhore or anything but he just isn’t looking for the one. That’s what Cammy wants. The one except she isn’t actively looking. The only man in her life is her seven year old son, Matty. He is her world and Rux loves being part of their life. Loves to hear about their day. Loves to see her after games hanging out with her sister and their friends. They are just friends until…that kiss.
The kiss that changes everything. It was supposed to just be for show but it was eye-opening. Cammy trusts Rux more than anyone in the world. She knows who he is, and she wants more. More kisses. More touches. Maybe it was time for her to have a good time as long as Matty doesn’t know. She doesn’t want him to get his hopes up, knowing Rux doesn’t want the marriage and kids. She does know he will be there in a forever way but not in that way. So, why not have a good time with your best friend? And when it doesn’t feel right or good anymore…end it and go back to being just friends. Nothing could go wrong, right?
Yeah, sure.
I love them! All three of them. They are hilarious, sexy, and full of love. Rux wants what is best for Cammy, always. And Cammy wants the same for him. She also has Matty to think about. They are just so adorable together. Silly gifts. Hot moments. Flirty banter. They have to be careful but it makes it all that more exciting, right?
Overall…it’s a wonderful addition to the series! I laughed, I got hot and bothered, I swooned, I laughed some more. I can’t wait to find out who the dirty talker is for the next book!
Quotes:
“It was BS, but I forgive you.”
“Dream Rux sounds like a dick. Pretty uncool considering…”
“Okay, I’m ready. Gimme, gimme, gimme.”
There’s pure affection in his smile, and once again I’m reminded why I’m so lucky to count this man as my friend.
“Okay, Sunshine. Last one.”
He pulls back and lets his eyes run over my features, ending at my mouth. I can practically feel the echoes of his kisses.
I finished the third installment today, and have to say…I loved this series! I can’t wait to read the fourth book coming out in November, and I checked, it’s not going to be a Margo book, but nonetheless, I WILL be reading it.
This story was so heartwarming and wonderful that it had my heart ripping towards the end. I thought for sure that Rux was going to be more reluctant than he was with Cammy, and I thought that there was going to be more drama with the ex than there was. I am not at all disappointed at how it panned out, though.
Their story was really great. Rux was so sweet and caring, and his heart was always in the wrong place, even if he doubted himself a little too much at times. Cammy was an amazing mom and she cared so much about Matty that I only wish my future with my future children will be like that, with a child who has so much love. And when he was sick? Ugh, so cute.
Can we take a minute to admire that cover? I’ll wait…u2063

All good? We’ll carry on! Rux and Cammy are best friends. REAL best friends…no weird, mixed up why aren’t we more feelings. Until he tries to help Cammy out of a bind and kisses her to do it. Then…holy hell, what was that!?u2063
u2063
I loved so many things about these two!u2063
u2063
The single mom angle – very well done!u2063
Matty – super cute kid and a little worrier (he packs snacks for his dad’s house in case he didn’t have the right kind )u2063
Chemistry – when done well, I think friends to lovers can have just as much (if not more) crazy chemistry vs enemies to lovers. This was one of those times!! Their closeness added fire instead of the sometimes awkwardness you see in FtoL. u2063
One of the best book kissers I’ve read! When I do a marry, song, avoid of the Slayers…which, come on, you know I will…Rux will be snog for sure!u2063
A (slightly) broken hero. Rux’s past makes him think he’s not good enough for Cammy. Loved seeing him come around to love!u2063

Dirty Rebound is a heartbreaking, steamy friends-to-lovers story.
It follows Cammy and Rux. Cammy is a dedicated single-mom. After being abandoned by the father of her baby when she was pregnant teen, she just wants to give her and her son the stability she never had. Rux befriended Cammy years ago. He’s a tough hockey player, joker, and you’ll never see him in a relationship. Rux is sure he can never give Cammy what she needs and Cammy knows Rux doesn’t want what she has. But they can be friends. Right?
Sometimes I felt a little frustrated with Rux. Although I loved his character, I never understood why he wouldn’t just see himself the way I do. He said he couldn’t commit, that he’s unstable — but I didn’t see that. He’s been a stable presence for Cammy and Matty all these years. Although it took a while, I was really happy when he came to realize he could be what he thought they deserved.
This story was as cute, steamy, and romantic as the others in this series. Not without some angst, Cammy and Rux’s story is completely worth it. I really liked these two together. Their epilogue was perfect.
I can’t wait to continue the series! In the meantime, I think I’ll be going and reading Mira Lyn Kelly’s Back to You series.
LOVED LOVED LOVED!
This was friends to lovers perfectly done! Miss Mira knocked another book from this series out of the park. Her talented writing and storytelling made it easy for me to fall fast and fall hard. She easily pulled me in and made me keep turning the pages.
Rux is always the jokester, always trying to make people laugh. But man-o-man, get his heart involved and it is amazing how serious and caring and protective he becomes. His big, beautiful heart comes shining through at exactly the right moments.
Cammy is the little sister of Julia (from Dirty Player) and we finally see her get that HEA. Her number one priority is her son, Matty. Rux has been her best friend for a few years, so he knows that. He cares for them both so much, he refuses to let anything get in the way of their happiness. Even if that means any sort of romantic relationship with her. No matter how badly he might want it. But they can enjoy each other and some ‘benefits’ for a while without any problems, right?
The chemistry between Rux & Cammy was so hot it sizzled. Their strong friendship was the cherry on top. They knew each other, trusted one another, they got each other. But they knew they couldn’t stay together.
I wanted to crawl into the pages and hug them both. The love they had for each other gave me all the warm fuzzies. Their banter was delightfully charming and so full of love. Their passion was full of sparks, and when they were together? All the tingles and swoons!
I absolutely loved this story. It was low on the angst, high on the emotions and satisfied me in every way possible.
I really enjoyed this story, which details the path to Rux and Cammy’s HEA. I do love friends to lovers romances and that is what this is. And their relationship is fantastic and I loved Rux’s relationship with Cammy’s son, Matty. Throw in the ex and some ups and downs from that and it was an enjoyable, fun book that was perfectly narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Christian Fox.
