The New York Times bestselling author of The Pact and Sins & Needles, brings you DIRTY PROMISES, the FINAL book in the dark romantic suspense Dirty Angels Trilogy.
DISCLAIMER: Dirty Promises is full of DARK characters. They are BAD people. They do TERRIBLE things. We are talking about the Mexican drug cartels here. In the cartels there is rape and there is cheating and there is torture and million other things that shouldn’t exist but the reality is that they do. And this series tries to stay as true to reality as possible. You better check your morals at the door….
Blood. Sex. Revenge.
Being king comes at a brutal price.
Drug lord Javier Bernal has sliced and diced his way to the top of the Mexican drug trade, presiding over the country’s largest cartel. But his rise to power comes at a brutal price: the death of his sister, Alana. Devastated and wracked with guilt, he turns away from his new wife, Luisa, forcing their marriage into a steady decline. But it isn’t until she’s pushed into the waiting arms of Esteban Mendoza, his right-hand man, that Javier realizes everything he’s lost.
And it isn’t until he learns the truth about Alana, that he realizes everything there is to gain.
Blood will spill.
Cities will burn.
Heads will roll.
Because Javier will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants.
And what he wants is raw, ruthless revenge.
Nothing is more dangerous than a man with nothing left to lose.

When Karina Halle said this was the darkest book she has ever written she wasn’t joking!! Kidnapping, interrogation, torture, drugs, murder, rape, the taking off of body parts… yeah, it was intense. Ms. Halle went to dark places in this world of Mexican drug cartels and I will never again question why she took a time out and explored contemporary romance for a while. Dark is definitely where her true talent lies but Ms. Halle can’t live there and after reading this I would never ask her to.
Dirty Promises was serious sh#t but it was freakin’ amazing. I could not wait to get back to this book every time I had to put it down. This was the violent, sorrowful, vengeful, but epic fight for power that the books in the Dirty Angels Trilogy have been individually leading up to. The fact that I loved this book in particular so much made me feel just as dirty and bloodstained as these characters. If you enjoy Karina Halle’s writing, specifically her darker writing, you seriously need to get on this trilogy. Now!

“The Wife of a drug king. The queen of corruption.”
I had been DYING to get my hands on this book, all the teasers on Facebook and Instagram were driving me CRAZY. I was so jealous of everyone who had received early copies of this book. When it went live a couple of hours earlier than planned I just had to dive right into it. Karina doesn’t disappoint! Dirty Promises is a perfect conclusion to the Dirty Angels Trilogy. I am so sad we won’t see more of Javier and Luisa, they are one of my all time favorite couples. Luisa is such a strong woman, she goes through a lot in this book. Javier was just DARK, seriously I don’t understand how much I can love this guy! He is a villian, he does some serious fucked up shit to Luisa and others (things that most women wouldn’t forgive). I love Javier, he can get away with almost anything in my eyes. I am obsessed with him! I need to have myself checked out.
“An anti-hero was still a hero in the end but I would never be more than a villian.”
Luisa and Javier go through some difficult times. Javier is pushing her away because he is drowning in his grief. Luisa just can’t get through to him. They both make wrong decisions that drive them even more apart. I had no idea how this book would end. I have to congratulate Karina for writing such a dark character. For some parts I had to stop reading for a few minutes before I could continue. This book isn’t for the faint of heart, so bewared! I wish this book was longer though, I read it in one sitting (I couldn’t stop reading!). I am going to miss Luisa and Javier. I hope there will be a novella or something featuring them in the future.
“It was only him and it was only me. King and Queen. That’s all that existed in the rusted, bloody space, between two tortured, filthy souls.”
