This book was too dark (trigger warning!) and ends with a cliff hanger promising more of the same. It was repetitive with too much violence and left the reader feeling there was no hope in this story or the characters and no hope in the future of this series. Despite the explanations that eventually come, they leave this reader feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. The female lead supposedly “keeps fighting” but she really just gives in and accepts the torture until she is brainwashed into believing she deserves all that happens. This took too long to get hooked into the storyline which never happened for me. It was a struggle to read to the end but instead of feeling it was worth it, I just felt let down by the author. This makes me want to avoid reading any other books by this author.
He came and help a group of them. He soon became all she can think about and he warned her not to. It is now too late and now she is traped. Can she ever escape? Will her life she be the same? See if her life gets better

The Carini Family is a very powerful, dangerous, and corrupt family who loves violence! A young Nina has become indebted to the Carini family and is forced to sign a 7 year contract to repay her debt. In this extremely dark read, Nina has to take every possible form of abuse from the entire family. She is beaten and raped continuously. She is a pawn in their game. When the father beats her to the point of almost dying, brothers Arlo and Matteo rescue her and nurse her back to health. Nina decides to turn the tables on the family by making both Arlo and Matteo fall in love with her, but she is simply using them to gain information that can be used against the family. However, her heart isn’t immune to these brothers, regardless of their dark and dangerous lifestyle. This is a series so be sure to read them all!

There are multiple points of view in telling this wonderfully dark and enchanting story. As always when it comes to this author the plot has some twists and turns and the characters are richly described.

Hummmm – not really sure how to rate this book. I didn’t “like” it but it was very interesting and well plotted. I am anxious to continue the series and it definitely held my attention. The story is dark, twisted and edgy. The characters are secretive and mysterious and the tension is maintained throughout the story. The character are not likeable and this is not a nice story with an HEA. All the characters are twisted. This is not an easy or a fast read but more of an edge of the seat, how much more can I take type of book. There were some annoying plot holes that interrupted the smooth flow of the story but I was still flipping pages to find out what would happen next. There is more to come. This does have an HFN but it’s absolutely NOT the end. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
This was a great book to read. This is an author I have read before and I love all the detail she goes into when she writes. I love how in this book a few of the characters become obsessed with one another and can’t seem to get enough of one another. I can picture the rooms within the house that they are staying in. I cannot wait to read more in this series and from Ella Miles.

If you have not had the pleasure of reading this author than I have to say you are missing out. I will warn you that this author writes in series where the series starts in book and ends in book six. BUT do not let this discourage you, I am not a huge fan of cliffhangers and whatnot but this author has totally pulled me in with whatever she writes. This book is no different. The story is so well worth the time and detail that it takes to tell the story. Just when you think you know what is going on and is going to happen, the most natural twist in the world comes at you that you never see coming. This book contains some trigger topics so be warned and it also takes on a darkness that is both terrifying and exhilarating. One thing I can promise, is that this book will captivate you and pull you in until you have devoured it. Truth be told, this happens with all this author’s books, at least to me. All I can say is pick this one up, you will not put it down easily and you will left amazed by the twists and turns that the story will leave you trying to digest while anxiously anticipating more. Enjoy!

Got the whole set
Very dark and with violence
I first discovered Ella Miles’ writing when I started reading the Truth or Lies series and was blown away by her writing style and ability to weave together a complicated and dark story line with interesting and intriguing characters.
With Dirty Obsession Ella Miles has again started a series (let’s call it the Dirty series) that has me hooked. This story is dark and twisted but oh so brilliant and fascinating. The Carini family is definitely something…………what that something is will be up to the reader to decide. All I know is that I am all in for reading the rest of this series.
Now I am also going to warn that there are some really tough and possible trigger scenes in this book – rape and violence against women. So some things I had a hard time reading and had to put this book down more than a few times to go read something light and airy, to cleanse the palate so to say. But I kept coming back to this book to see what would happen next to Gia Carini. She really is a young woman who ends up going from the frying pan into the fire and back again a few times.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is a dark, raw and gritty story with intense twists that kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Nina and the whole Carini family are characters that you love to hate but to me those are the best ones. It ends in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
An Engrossing Dark Read! Some Details Are Overly Simplified Or Skirted Altogether, Yet It Captures The Imagination.
Nina Young, twenty-two, is alone in the world save for her childhood best friend Eden, whom people often confuse as her sister. Eden sticks with Nina and supports her despite her numerous troubles with men. Nina’s addictive personality began to manifest as an obsession with finding a cure for her ailing father years ago, then shifted to obsessions with the many men in her life. The latest left her with a restraining order and months of therapy.
Now graduate students studying art history, Nina and Eden attend a one-month study abroad program in Italy. When Nina sees the handsome man set to give her class a tour of a beautiful historic mansion, she is taken aback. He stares at her shamelessly with an emotionless intensity that sets her on fire in spite of herself. She knows that allowing herself to indulge in thoughts of this broody man will undo the progress she has made in therapy, but she cannot help herself.
Arlo Carini, an Oxford grad, runs a multi-billion dollar company. He is from a powerful and mysterious Italian family with a long and rich history. His family is feared and revered. Arlo has so many beautiful women that it surprises him to find that he is helplessly drawn to Nina Young. A relationship is impossible, but he cannot get her out of his mind. It excites him each time he sees her, but her obsession of him is a problem, and he turns her away repeatedly. But Nina is no ordinary woman. She saved him. And Arlo is determined to save her if only she will cooperate.
Nina and Arlo have incredible chemistry! They are truly a perfect match – Arlo’s outrageously mixed signals are as radical as Nina’s obsession is with him. They are quickly obsessed with one another, yet Arlo continues warn her away.
Nina manages to place herself in the center of a deadly Carini family game, pitting Arlo against his sweet but terrifying brother Matteo. But their father poses a threat as well. Without knowing the rules of the game, strong and defiant Nina must develop her own strategy if she hopes to survive the nightmare. And Arlo must deal with the self-loathing that holds him back.
There are several issues which may bother some readers. First, it never feels necessary for Nina to have been saved by Arlo’s family. He could have easily intercepted Clive and Erick, calling bouncers, the police, and an ambulance if needed. It is later insinuated that Clive and Erick come from a dangerous but less powerful family, and again the need for such drastic action is not explained. The seven million dollar price is similarly not explained or justified. Next, early in the story Arlo warns that Matteo is horrible, yet later he says Matteo is a much better man than him. The reader never really does see Matteo’s unique dark tendencies. Another mystery, the mansion is full of activity before Nina runs, but for the remainder of the book there is almost no activity. The women appear to be absent without an explanation. Additionally, given Nina’s memory loss, seven years seems an unreasonabke amount of time for her to believe she is in danger. Rescuing her shouldn’t logically have warranted all the aftermath. She might have considered the contact, if remembered, a scare tactic simply to cure her obsession of Arlo and get rid of her. Finally, there is too much contradiction when the men describe their feelings. They come across as wishy washy, not strong.
This is the first book in the series. It ends with a HFN followed by a cliffhanger. The next book follows Matteo and Eden. If you can stomach ignoring the cliffhanger, this book reads fine as a stand-alone.
This is an engrossing dark read that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is well-written with only a few minor errors. The POV alternates between Nina, Arlo, and Matteo. The plot is complex. The mystery of the game and the players unfolds enticingly slowly. However, it lacks key details which are overly simplified or skirted altogether, asking the reader to just have faith. It doesn’t all fit perfectly together. There are several loose ends which take time to wrap up at the end, and it unfortunately interferes with the flow. The characters are well-developed, but it would be an improvement if they were portrayed more consistently. That said, even with its limitations, this book captures the imagination and keeps your attention. I rate this book four stars.

This particular read is dark and compelling with many possible triggers. However, that being said, this author has such great skills in the use of her words drawing you in and her world building artistry actually enabling you to envision what she is writing. I was a little put off in the beginning with Nina and her personality disorder and obsessive behavior. This was nicely overcome with her emotional growth and maturity. Strong, vivid characters are employed in this powerful and engaging read.

This one just may blow your mind.
This is the first book of Nina, Arlo, and Matteo’s story this is very intense and somewhat weird at times. It is also dark with very raw and powerful moments. It is not a kid’s book! Expect twists and surprises and let’s say this one just may blow your mind. It is not a book for everyone but it is very intriguing and has a good cliffhanger. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a great story with great characters. I really enjoyed reading this dark romance. This is a great read.

Exciting, tortured, twisted and unpredictable.
Very good story, with scenes very hard to read, but with an aspect that I really liked, that of a young woman, Nina, who knows that her relations with men are problematic because she saw it as an obsession even if the men concerned do not want to know anything about her, to the point where it destroys both their lives. So when she becomes obsessed with Arlo, she decides to master this obsession that is born, but she does not know Arlo and the young man is much darker than she thinks. Her obsession becomes what guides her, but Arlo never has the expected reaction which disturbs her in her obsessive mechanics in which a part of reason remains.
Soon the story reveals that if Nina is unstable, Arlo and her family are completely disturbed, engaged in a manipulation game that we do not know if Nina will survive or not.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Consuming, compelling, convoluted
Dirty Obsession (Dirty Series Book 1) by Ella Miles is another first book of a series that evokes so many emotions while reading. The character development is spot on for her dark and twisted storylines. She has created yet another series that has some serious hooks utilizing her character’s flaws and vulnerabilities to captivate and grab her readers by the throat.
This storyline/plot, it’s protagonists and antagonists are all encompassing in their intrigue. Nina is a very compulsive young woman, easily obsessed which lands her in unimaginable trouble. The Carini Family is devious, twisted and so very dark, mysterious and truly dangerous. It’s difficult to find any redeeming qualities in Arlo or Matteo, but just with other series by this author, with patience all whys will be revealed.
Overall, Ella Miles has created a series that has me captivated and invested in a happy resolution for all, however, in true Ella Miles fashion, that is going to take some time, more heartbreak and violence.

Manipulation, devastation, desire and addiction are words to describe what happened.
by sewsummore
Nina was a woman obsessed with Arlo, a man who was determined never to have her because having her would cause him to lose everything. But fate has a way of making fools of the best of us, that is what happened and served her up on a plate for us to devour. Arlo saved her life that night, but seven years later he still wasn’t sure he had done the right thing. She was a pawn in an evil man’s game, a slave for seven years, their possession, to torment, rape, abuse and destroy. This book will stay in my memory for a long time, it’s dark pages a testimony to the evil men do when there is no one prepared to prevent it. This book was an like an addiction. the more I read the harder it was to put down and then I didn’t even try. Manipulation, devastation, desire and addiction are words that come to mind when I think about Arlo and Nina’s relationship and in the end it was still not enough. This book is part of a three book series that I am also addicted to.
