Then Jesse makes Katie an irresistible offer: act as his girlfriend for six weeks while he promotes his new album. The only catch? Their sizzling make-out sessions will be for the cameras only.

Dirty Like Me is the first full-length novel in the Dirty series—a rockstar romance series about the members of the rock band Dirty and the women and men who love them.
Novels in the Dirty series are interconnected standalones, each with an HEA; other books (novella/story collection) are not HEA, but are essential pieces of the overall story arcs. (There are ongoing storylines that develop throughout the series; reading them in order is not crucial but is HIGHLY recommended.)
Reading order:
Dirty Like Me (Dirty #1)
Dirty Like Us (Dirty #0.5) (novella)
Dirty Like Brody (Dirty #2)
A Dirty Wedding Night (Dirty #2.5)(story collection)
Dirty Like Seth (Dirty #3)
Dirty Like Dylan (Dirty #4)
Dirty Like Jude (Dirty #5)
Dirty Like Zane (Dirty #6)
… And be sure to check out the Players rockstar romance series (a spinoff from the Dirty series!), starting with the first book: Hot Mess (Players #1)!

Highly recommend this whole series.
First book I read by this author. Loved it and read the next straight away. Free with KU
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
This is a story about a Rock God and the girl next door. Who hasn’t feel in love with a rock God and wondered what it would be like to go on tour and be his girlfriend? Yeah, we all have or you haven’t found the right Rock God. For me and yes I am telling my age, it was Andy Gibb. I loved him, had the posters on my wall, his records and all the magazines. Yep, told my age on that one. Any way, this is Jesse Mayes and Katie Bloom’s story and I loved it all.
Jesse and his people were trying to find the right girl to be in his latest music video. He was tired of the models and those that would throw themselves at his feet just to be near him. When he sees Katie, she seems to not know who he is and doesn’t go fan-girl crazy. And he doesn’t know it but he wants her. While Brody and Maggie, his people, see the attraction and the way Jesse reacts to her. So they get Katie to be in the video with him. And the sparks fly all around them.
Katie is trying to move on from her past. After aver two years, she is still having trouble letting the hurt go. It is hard to forget the pain of heartbreak. SO when her BFF tells her she is going to be in a video with Jesse Mayes, Rock God, Katie doesn’t know who he is. So she checks him out on the internet. Can she go through with the video when she finds out what the video subject is about?
When Jesse offers her a lot of money to be his pretend girlfriend, because the fans love the idea of the girl next door catching the eye of the Rock God. So Katie is fighting herself internally, she finally accepts the job. All the while knowing it could end in disaster. But maybe not, because Jesse is so sweet to her and he is always so nice. And the PDA is only in public for the fans and camera. He doesn’t try to push himself on her behind closed doors. Because that was part of the deal.
But as time passes, Katie finds herself falling for Jesse with each passing day, can she continue to play the part and not lose her heart? Will Jesse come to realize that he has feelings for her too? What if he is too late?
I love a good rock star meets girl next door story and this one was perfect. And I am glad there will be more to this series.
This is the second one by Jaine Diamond for me (first was DEEP, set in the future) and I can’t wait for more from both series.

An unexpected Gem of a Read !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love rock star romances, the ultimate dream your favorite rockstar falls hopelessly in love with you ( Jared Leto) a dream like unicorns in the sand, Yet I am always looking for new reads. KU has hundreds – sadly most are meh, varying from awful, dire, copycat reads, with a few decent-ish reads and the occasional gem tucked in, so I wasn’t really expecting much from this.
The beauty of KU though is that once you’ve paid your fee its a free way to try out lots of new to you authors – and some that are simply completely new as Jaine was.
So, Katie, I liked her, loved the way she got plunged into the video by default almost and under the eye of Jesse Mayes.
Its stretching credulity – but its fiction and sometimes truth is odd, things like this do happen.
Its written in a very real way with all the questions readers have answered, not left hanging in the wind. Reading it you’re never thinking “how did she get there/why did /what about/ when will???”. Stuff like that, plots that get started and fizzle out of just left hanging really annoy me and are seen in so many Rock star reads I’ve found.
So she’s on tour with Jesse, determined to take the money and enjoy the six weeks, having got his word that if she doesn’t want to sex isn’t part of their agreement, and she thinks she can hold out despite the sparking sensual attraction each time their together. Of course the inevitable happens, and hearts just aren’t made to stand up to such feelings. We think we’re in control and we are…til we aren’t.
I love that Katie thinks about taking the money, thinks about the impact it will have on her life, whether she can fulfil what Jesse wants, act like the devoted girlfriend while keeping her heart free. She doesn’t just think “yay, lots of dosh” and throw herself in but searches her conscience, talks to her friend about what she should do. She loves her art but after a huge setback she just has student debts and has lost her mojo. Maybe this money will allow her to resume her love for her art.
Jesse is gorgeous, and he’s loyal too, to his friends, to his family and to his band, old and new. He’s a very genuine person, and I just couldn’t help but like him. He wants the best for everyone, not just fame for himslef, but to bring his music out to aothers, to provide jobs to the people who make it happen, to have fun with both bands, to deliver what he feels the fans deserve. He hasn’t let the fame go to his head, isn’t one of those I Am God types…
I really wanted a little jealousy from the females towards Katie, there’s a few minor incidents but a book such as this is made perfect for me by a nice meddling bitch Still, its an unexpected gem of a read, almost a five star for me and I’m hoping for more from the band soon, maybe I’ll get my jealous bitch then!
Stars: Four and a half, just short of the magic five, and a terrific start for Jaine’s writing career
Love this entire series.
Get ready to get dirty!
In this smoking hot but contractually binding fake romance, Katie Bloom gets a once in a lifetime chance to stand in and ‘make out’ with the hottest rocker on the scene … Jesse Mayes. She gets up close and personal with him and his enormous, um, stardom. When he discovers she’s not a professional model but more the girl next door type, he has a proposal. Not the kind with ring, but the kind with a contract. Be his fake girlfriend during his tour. What’s included?
Kissing? Yes.
Heavy petting? Definitely.
Insert stardom into slot with a girl who’s pretty much revirginized after two sexless years?
Ask Jesse Mayes, and the answer is yes.
Ask Katie Bloom, and it’s a hell no.
So, what should two grown people do to settle the dispute once and for all … when they’re sharing a hotel room … and Jesse can’t touch other women during said contract?
Bet on it, of course.
Loved the book. My first rocker romance, and I’ll be back for more. All the feels in an adorable story with a hell of a lot of heat. Highly recommend.k
I loved this book. It is the reason I became a huge Jaine Diamond fan. I will read anything and everything she writes. She writes characters that a wonderful, relatable, and real. Highly recommend this book (and all of its sequels).
I loved this book. The characters gripped me from the start and it made me fall in love with the entire series
I binge read the entire Dirty series and loved every minute of it!! I didn’t stop to rate/review While in between books, I just went right into the next – the teaser at the end of each book for the next is to blame for that!!
I’m going to do one catch all review and copy/paste it to each book.
READ THE SERIES if you’ve not already. And START FROM THE BEGINNING! I know the author says they are interconnected standalone book and while that is true, you will so much more enjoy the books by reading them all-in order. In Dirty Like Me, book 1 we get to know Jesse and Katie. Jesse is the lead guitarist for the band Dirty. He meets Katie, a regular girl who inadvertently lands a modeling job as his love interest in a video he’s making, only she’s not a model and was surprised to learn that her BFF who is the talent-scout who roped her into this gig without telling her that the video is of the two of them in bed together. Jesse and Katie end up spending a lot of time together (he pays her to do so 😉 and…it’s a great story!! These two are my favorite! As Jaine does with all her characters in this series, she keeps Jesse and Katie alive in her subsequent books so we keep up with them!
Book 2 is Dirty Like Brody is great too! A long time overdue, FINALLY coming together of Brody and Jessa (Jesse’s sister) who’ve always loved each other. Their reunion was a bit tense and Brody quite grumpy, lol. But things work out and a baby is made!
Book 3 A Wedding Night – don’t miss it! Catch up on Jesse and Katie at their wedding. Steamy, witty, funny, loved it! Plus you get more on everyone else and you will definitely want to know for the next books!
Dirty like Seth. Elle, who’s Jesse’s former girlfriend before Katie, is still nurturing her broken heart over Jesse when their former band mate Seth returns to the band. Seth comes back after kicking drugs and some other drama involving Jessa and not everyone is immediately thrilled he’s returned. Elle is drawn to him and wants to support him and They end up spending time together and…baby #2 is made!!
Dirty Like Dylan – WHOA! Dylan; Dirty’s HOT drummer, and his best friend Ash (man) share. They take best friends to the next level!! And they meet Amber who’s just been contracted to take pictures while Dylan shoots an underwear commercial – yes with his drum kit! They want to share Amber. Amber is up for it! Amber is a lucky lucky woman! Super steamy with some real affections taking place. It doesn’t end well for everyone and feelings are hurt. It sucks, but more to come in subsequent books (like in the Players series which I am just now starting).
Dirty Like Jude- not gonna lie. Skipped it. I have not been a fan of Roni, Jude’s love interest in the previous books. I don’t like her. She’s selfish. So I couldn’t make myself read it.
Dirty Like Zane – Awesome way to wrap up the series!! Dirty’s front man has been very prominent in the series and we know so much about his rocky relationship with Maggie: their manager, assistant to Brody. Lots of secret and finally are revealed! Oh! And read Dirty Like Us (0.5 Novella) for more on these two BEFORE reading this or really the others! Zane has been through a lot as the front man of dirty and has a lot to over come but there’s no party without him; sober or otherwise! I pictured an 80s David Lee Roth when I thought about Zane’s characters. He and Maggie are definitely my 2nd favorite.
Throughout the series we keep up with Jesse and Katie and what’s going on with them. Same with the others.
All around a 5 for me! Absolutely loved the series and would be thrilled for more books on Dirty to catch me up with what they are all up to these days!
Katie is a barista trying to make things work. She wins a spot on a video with a Jesse from the band Dirty. They kiss and make out for the cameras. But while there may be chemistry, she knows better than to take it seriously. But Jesse seems committed from the beginning even with Katie’s hesitation to believe this is real. Good sexy work up to their relationship.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a fantastic way to start of a series. I loved every word of this book and it was the perfect way to introduce me to this author. The dialogue and chemistry between the characters was excellent.

This author has a way of always delivers great characters that are well developed and engaging with plenty of chemistry that draw us from the start. The even flow of the storyline kept me entertained.

A regular girl becomes paid girlfriend of a rock star after they hit it off. The characters are really enjoyable, sexy, and fun. Katie is a smart girl, reminding herself that it is just a job. And then it’s not. This was such an enjoyable book, I started reading more by this author.
Saw the add on Facebook and thought why not. I was ready for a fresh read. Boy did I get it! This book was hot and raw and funny! I love romance broken up by comedy, it just makes it all so real. Beautifully written and I can’t wait for book two!
I love the series, my favorite so far is book three Dirty like Seth.
This entire series was amazing. I love how each book moves to the next character, but you still see what happens to previous characters. It was by far one of the best series I have ever read.
A enjoyable read. It was neat watching her come out of her shell till she went off the rails. The ending kind of introduces a lot of issues that felt like they came out of left field. Not crazy about the resolutions either. They seemed out of character for our couple. But still a fun story.
I read this book because I legit felt bullied into it. Every single Amazon search I’ve done for the past 6 months has shown me this book first. The author’s ad spend must be astronomical, because it doesn’t matter what I was searching for, Amazon thought this book was the answer to my prayers. Need a great romance to read? Try Dirty Like Me! Want the latest Melanie Harlow book? Try Dirty Like Me instead! Want shinier hair? Dirty Like Me can help! It was getting ridiculous! So, finally, I caved. I’m only human, OK??? I can only take so much pressure before I snap! Well, Amazon, I read it. And guess what? I DIDN’T LIKE IT all that much! So there!
Plot overview: “Average” girl Katie is hired by the hottest rockstar in the land, Jesse, to be his fake girlfriend while he’s on tour promoting his new album because REASONS. Lots of sex ensues.
First of all, I’d like to clarify that the first, oh, 35% of the book was enjoyable for me. I liked that Jesse wasn’t the typical drugged-out, whoremonger that you so often see in rockstar romances. He seemed like a fairly decent guy, even if he did make some unflattering assumptions about Katie when she was hired to be in his music video. He was cocky and acted unprofessional during that video shoot, but I could forgive that. For all that rockstar cockiness, he seemed like an OK guy deep down, and I liked him.
Now, Katie on the other hand…
Katie was a little harder for me to warm up to. First of all, she’s supposed to be this “average” girl that I, as a reader, can relate to. She’s supposed to be the kind of girl that helps readers indulge in the fantasy that ordinary, average girls CAN someday find happiness with the crazy-hot rockstar who is totally out of their league. But I didn’t find Katie to be relatable at all.
Katie keeps telling me (in her inner monologues) how ordinary she is, and yet she was cast as Jesse’s girlfriend in the music video right away, even though she didn’t have any modeling or acting experience. I don’t know about the rest of you “ordinary” girls out there, but nothing like that has ever happened to me.
And as if that wasn’t enough, pretty much every man that shows up in the book is hot for Katie. Again, that’s not typical, which makes Katie a bit of a Bella Swan. In other words, Katie is a ridiculously gorgeous girl with a completely warped sense of what she looks like and what people think of her. She keeps insisting that she’s plain and average, while clearly, she’s anything but. I have no time for that nonsense.
Then, pretty much everything from 35% of the book up through 70% is nothing but sex scenes. They’re well written sex scenes for the most part, but, Jesus…I get it. They’re horny and hot for each other. This book is over 400 pages long, and I think if you cut out every sex scene except for maybe one or two, the whole book could’ve been done in under 200 pages. That’s just too much sex and not enough plot or character development for me I’m afraid.
After all the sex, there was some totally unnecessary angst that drove the couple apart for a chapter or so. It was almost like the author said, “well, hell, I guess I need some kind of conflict to end this thing on,” and just threw some crap at the page to call it done. It all could’ve been handled with a nice, old-fashioned adult conversation. I have ZERO tolerance for conflicts that could be handled by acting like a grown-up instead of a whiny, overly dramatic brat.
So, long-story-short, I’ll no longer be listening to Amazon when they INSIST that I need to read something. I’m only going to read what I want to read, damn it! No one is the boss of me!!!
And feel free to check out the Romance Rehab blog for more rants, raves, book lists, and other fun romance-y stuff: http://www.romancerehab.com/
I nearly didn’t finish this but overall I’m pleased I stuck with it. I loved the beginning. The story raced along and the characters of Jesse and Katie were believable. But then it got very bogged down. The middle section was far too long – how many different ways can they avoid having sex? How many ways can they have sex and not do anything else? But it picked up at the end and I enjoyed the resolution. Not sure I’ll continue with the series. How much more backstage rockstar stuff is there to tell?
I was searching for a new author and came across Jaine Diamond’s Dirty series. Based on all of the author disclaimers, I started with Dirty Like Me (Book 1) and found a new favorite author!
Book 1 features famous musician Jesse and down on her luck Katie. Both of these characters are lost, just for different reasons. However, after a chance encounter, followed by a daring proposal, these two set off on a great adventure.
This was a great book for several reasons — Jesse and Katie’s story was a lot of fun and a great escape, and seven more books in the series to read!!! Lets just say that this book was the start of a great binge.
