Im absolutely floored!
Absolutely floored at the amazing talent of these two authors for writing something so profoundly beautiful!
I laughed, couldn’t read through tears and just saw so much love in this book that the characters will have a permanent place in my heart!
This was a book that will touch both your heart and soul as it did mine!
I had pen pals as a young girl and I could never have dreamed anything like that would happen! Although I have met a few of them!
Dirty Letters is my top read for 2019!! It is hands down a book that just has to be read so you understand why I feel this way!
What is more beautiful!? True love, soul mates and having someone so devoted by your side that can help you when darkness comes!
Just such incredibly beautiful writing!
Luca and Griffin became pen pals at age seven and continued to write to each other for years until a devastating tragedy changes Luca so dramatically that she abandons the things she loves most, including her beloved Griffin. After years of living as a virtual shut-in, Luca finds a letter from Griffin while cleaning out her deceased father’s apartment and writes back to him, the pages bleeding with why she deserted him. They rekindle their friendship of letters until Luca takes a huge step and decides to find the boy she adored who has become the man she loves.
Vi and Penelope’s story of second chances isn’t only about love, it’s about picking yourself up when life has beaten you down and searching for the second chance for you. Luca has taken hit after hit in life, losing so much that she has lost the ability to trust anything, most of all herself. Buried under layers of grief, fear, and guilt, Luca is a woman who must reach a point where she either finds her inner strength or crawls within herself never to emerge again. Griffin’s life was more charmed but that charm came with a price and a soon to be revealed lesson. Wealth and fame give Griffin the ability to have all he desires but the one thing he craves most, intimacy. He’s become a persona more than a person but reconnecting with Luca allows him the chance to regain what he lost.
Filled with heartbreak, humor, and a mega-dose of hope, Dirty Letters is the type of story you do more than just read. You feel it. You feel for the characters and all that they have endured. You feel for the courage it takes them to change. You feel the love they share and the choices that they must make to make their dreams come true. Be sure to bring the tissue box when you open this one and make plans to not be available until you have finished. This is one where you will not want to stop once you start.
Keeland and Ward always write a good story but with Dirty Letters, they have taken it to the next level.
OMG this book deserves more than 5 stars!!! Here I sit at work on my lunch break crying happy tears. These two incredible ladies get together and simply write the best stories, and once again they have taken me on an incredible and emotional ride. I just don’t know how they do it; oh wait, yes I do, it’s their gift, their talent. Every. Single. Time. I absolutely loved Griffin and Luca’s unconventional love story and wouldn’t change a thing about it. It is perfect! And that surprise at the end? So special and amazing! You need to read this book!
Thank you ladies for showing me once again why I enjoy reading so much!
I have always wondered what would happen if two pen pals met up once they had become adults. No one would have guessed that Luca and Griffin would do just that as he was from London and she lived in New York city. But circumstances change, and for these two, in a huge way and we get to read all about it in a great love story that starts with sweet innocent school kids messages into some steamy, sexy, dirty letters that will make your toes curl.
Tragedy strikes both these kids and it makes one want to reach out more to their pen pal, and the other to punish themselves for thinking they made a fateful purchase. So the letters cease after they had been corresponding for nearly ten years. Fast forward eight years, and a letter has shown up at Luca dad’s apartment that shocks her to her core. And because letters are their thing, Griffin doesn’t drunk dial her, he gives her a slamming in a note. From here these two get a second chance on their friendship, but if they can work out some immense issues, they might be able to take it the next level.
Luca had a real quality feel about her for me. She wasn’t perfect, she had many flaws but she was generous and very sensitive. She was a survivor that her scars were on the inside and she fought hard on a daily basis to recover. I loved her determination. Griffin….. oh Griff! I had to look at the cover a few times when reading as he is definitely easy on the eye! As Doris would say, “I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers”. I totally agree with her! But that wasn’t his best quality, that’s just surface stuff. He too had a sensitive sole, and why they were such a good match being pen pals. He was extremely talented and patient. And when he put his mind to something, he gave it one hundred percent attention and consideration. He was very supportive with everything Luca had going on.
My heart ached for them numerous times throughout the novel and I felt all their angst that comes with living their lives. I loved the epilogue, I was so happy with the growth that Luca had and excited for them both on what was around the corner. What I was also happy about was the surprise at the end of the book with a link. Do Not Miss This.
Wow!!! These two ladies continue to just blow me away!! Just when I think they can’t possibly top the last book they wrote I read the next one and am proven wrong over and over again!!! And I think I say this every single time also but this one is my new favorite(for now)!!!! I love how they bring forward how severe and serious anxiety can be and how scary it also can be. And how people with anxiety cannot control any part of it. These two seem to always bring awareness to something in their books as well as just a romantic, fun story that you fall right into and never want to leave!!! Luca and Griffin are one of my top 5 couples ever!!!! I love how they connected and the reconnected. I love how Griffin try’s to be so understanding and comforting to Luca. I also love how Luca takes chances for Griffin. But I don’t like the doubts she has but with what Griffin does and what all she suffers from they have an uphill battle if they want to make it. And when things go wrong will they come out unscathed or will it break them? Find out when you read my number 1 read of 2019!!!!! By Tina

This book is beyond amazing. My apologies in advance because my review won’t begin to do this book justice. Luca and Griffin’s story was absolutely flawlessly written. Their story was certainly not an easy one and as we learn about Luca’s past was heartbreaking. I don’t want to give anything away because this book is jsut that special. If there is one book to be read this year this is it!
What do you get when 2 great authors co-write together? A 10 star masterpiece. I say this every time they have a co written book together. “It’s their Best one yet”. Well it is, because they surpassed yet again my already high expectations. If I get to shed one tear while reading a story, they deserve all the stars in the sky. I had to wait a few days to write my review because I was too emotionally distraught. I still am.
Griff and Luca were pen pals when they were children. Then it all stopped. Now years later, Luca receives a letter from Griff. Life has changed them to be most opposites possible.
Once I started reading it I was hooked. My heart, min, body and soul was mesmerized by these amazingly perfect characters. It was so beautifully written with heart with a storyline that was addicting. I started being emotional on how Hortencia came to. That was just the beginning. Why was I so emotional? The characters struggles felt so real to me. It was a love story that was raw and without judgment. The purest kind.
This story was funny at times with very colourful characters. It’s an uniquely written story that had me on a roller coaster of emotions. Laughing one minute and tearing the next. Bottomline is this is an all time most memorable story. Trust me you need to read it.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I STRONGLY recommend this story. Have a box of tissue handy, you’ll need them.
Emotional, heartfelt original read~ Lana~ White Hot Reads
This story is so original. Pen Pals who end up being soulmates even after years of being apart. Griffin and Luca have such a strong connection with each other. Luca is fighting her own issues all the while Griffin is trying to help her get through them. Griffin has the patience of a saint when it comes to Luca. I love when these two write together. A must read!!!
Such a good and emotional and heart breaking, yet heart warming story. It’s also a very sweet romance. While there are some humorous moments, this isn’t a Rom Com. This is probably one of the most emotional books this writing duo has written… at least in recent years. The emotions you feel aren’t just due to the romance and what goes on between the Hero and Heroine, but because of their personal struggles as well. Her’s more so then his. He’s a rock star who has no privacy and just wants to be left alone, and she’s a anxiety ridden recluse that just wants to be free from her solitude. Their story started in the second grade but their lives really begin 20 years later. You will fall in love with these characters. If you’re in need of a new book boyfriend, look no further. Griffin is perfection. Luca has some mental health issues that she is struggling to overcome, but even with those ‘faults’ she is a wonderful and strong woman. She tends to be the ‘bad guy’ in this story, but even when she was making the wrong choices, you knew her heart was kind and she was trying to be selfless in her actions, no matter how bad they hurt either of them. There isn’t a lot of sexual content, mostly it’s talked about between the characters, with minimal action played out. This is a beautiful and well written story that was hard to put down. You’ll want to read it (at least the last 5-10 chapters or so) in private as there will be tears shed. It alternates between POVs.
This book! I’ve read some spectacular books this year and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite because there have been so many that have been so incredibly written, but I have to say, Dirty Letters knocked my socks off. I’ve read books written by both of these authors, separately and together, and have enjoyed them immensely, but this one thoroughly exceeded all my expectations of their writing style. Griffin and Luca stole my heart from the very first letters they wrote to each other and never let it go. This was such an emotional and intense read for me not only because it touches on anxiety and PTSD, but because these characters just burrowed into my heart. I suggest you read it with a box of tissues because I was a puddle of tears more than once. I also read it without reading the blurb because I like to be surprised–well, surprised is an understatement. I’m so in love with Griffin and Luca and Doc that I know they’re remain in my head and my heart long into the future — book hangover here I come. If you’re looking for an intensely emotional, deeply satisfying and brilliantly written read, you’ve found it in Dirty Letters. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars — extraordinary and incredible! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
I honestly think this one has got to be my most favourite one yet.
I probably say that with every book written by these two authors but this one? This one is special.
This book was so different in so many ways, different in i haven’t read a book that had some of the things inside but also different as in really made me re-think.
Luca and Griffins story was beautiful. I wasn’t expecting it to be as beautiful as it was, maybe in was the whole ‘dirty’ part of Dirty Letters that had me thinking it would be something completely different but i can honestly say i wasn’t disappointed.
Luca and Griffin was absolutely perfect for eachother, the understanding and the whole hearted blind faith was amazing, they both had these flaws that when they get put together it really shouldn’t work but you know what? Love is messy, love is blind, love is finding someone who you can call home.
These characters are going to stay with me forever.
Luca and Griffin were pen pals as kids and teens, but then Luca stopped writing. And eight years later Griffin sent one last scathing letter that got her attention. Soon they are back to sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings while engaging in some flirty and dirty banter. But there are some things that are hard to explain.
Luca has been through some terrible events that have had an effect on her current life. She has had success in some areas and is stuck in others. She is trying to work through her issues, but it takes time, determination, and patience. But she is smart, sweet, funny, and trying to be brave. I think the authors did a great job illustrating how defeating and difficult it can be to live with these types of thoughts.
Griffin lives across the country now, and his life is very different. In some ways it is good, and in other ways bad. He is sexy, charming, generous, and talented. From the outside it looks like he has everything, but Luca is the only person that really sees the true him under his public image. But she might be the one girl he cannot truly have.
These two live opposite lives. And her greatest fears are part of his daily existence. But their relationship was already based on blind trust, faith, and an unshakeable bond. But it is easier with anonymity. Real life can bring complications and challenges. They say love can conquer all, but can it really?
Will they be able to overcome the issues to have a true relationship or are is being pen pals as far as they can really go?
This is a flirty, witty, sexy, emotional, second chance love story with some unique challenges. I loved getting both of their points of view, reading their letters, and sharing Griffin’s lyrics. I felt like these characters were laid bare and we got to see all of the raw emotions, anxiety, and doubts. I loved both Luca and Griffin, and together they were both completely adorable and totally hot. Griffin stole my heart with his patience, devotion, and dirty-talking charm. Doc and even Hortencia added to the story as well.
I devoured this book. The storyline was more than I was expecting and kept me invested throughout. They truly struggled and had to face challenges, fears, and insecurities and ultimately figure out if they were worth fighting for. My heart was broken and put back together several times. And in between I smiled, I laughed, I teared up, and I swooned. And the little extra something-something provided to go along with the story was a fun treat.
Arc provided by author in exchange for an honest review
Dirty Letters by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward is a mix of sweet blended with raw real emotions.
Luca and Griff are such unique characters.
Luca has faced so many challenges in her short 26 years, but she is a fighter who is doing everything she can to make it through each day.
Griff has been a part of her life for years. But there’s a huge gap in those years.
Will these two finding each other again help to heal the wounds of the past?
I loved the way Vi & Penelope approached very serious subjects with humor and honesty.
They delivered flawed characters, who in the end you just know were meant to be together.
4.5 Heart stopping Stars
Once again, this team of authors has created a deeply romantic story that pulls on your heartstrings from start to finish. This fantastic, emotional book had me rooting for a love that’s anything but easy, yet so worth the struggle.
I’m going to be intentionally vague here in describing the plot, because the discovery is all part of the journey and well worth letting it all unfold naturally. Essentially, it’s the story of childhood pen pals who started writing in second grade as an assignment and then spent the next ten years exchanging deep, intimate letters that brought them closer than people who see each other every day. Everything changed when Luca stopped responding to Griffin’s letters, and it changes again when he sends her a letter eight years later saying how much he could’ve really used a friend during that time in his life. Little did Griffin know that Luca actually had a very legitimate reason for taking time off from the letters, but the damage was already done by the time she was in a place where she could start responding again. Now that they are adults, all of those old feelings come rushing back to the surface and they both crave a real connection since they’re feeling alone in the world. These two lead very different lifestyles (perhaps too different to make a real relationship work), but they’ve been a part of each other’s lives for 18 years in one way or another and that means their connection is worth fighting for.
Do yourself a favor and read the book. It’s great. As always, the authors’ writing is so, so good. I’ve read several of their books at this point, so I was prepared for there to be a major obstacle in the path of love, but knew better than to try to spoil that for myself ahead of time. It’s best to just read the book and get immersed in the story; let things unravel naturally and follow the journey as the couple does. I had literal goosebumps while reading the ending, it’s that good. A big thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was incredibly excited to read this book and it definitely lived up to my expectations.
Another original story from this duo! “Griffin Quinn” was “Luca Ryan’s” international penpal for 18 years while growing up. They told each other everything but, one day Luca just stopped writing back. Eight years later when she goes home to clean out her father’s apartment she gets a little surprise. A letter from said penpal sitting in a pile of her dad’s mail. Why did he write her after all this time? Can she ever let him know the real reason why she never wrote him back? Luca is actually a writer now under a very clever pen name & Griffin may also have a few secrets about his current life. This is a sweet, funny and sometimes emotional book dealing with some issues of tragedy, loss and the effects it has on a person. It’s told mostly with Luca & Griffin corresponding back and forth & when they start up again their letters aren’t as innocent as when they were children. With both living in the states now will they finally meet in person? I don’t want to say too much and give anything away but believe me when I say this is a very enjoyable and unique book. Griffin is the kind a man we all wish we could find! Told in dual POV; Later, Gator
It was such a beautiful and inspiring read. It was simply wonderful. I recommend this book, and these authors.
Wow! Just wow! This book was AMAZING! I think this was probably one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. The entire cast of characters was perfect! The combination of Doc and Luca had me cracking up. Doc being described as eccentric could not be more on point, I feel like he is the literal definition of the word. The relationship between Luca and Griffin was heart melting. I fell absolutely head over heels for Griffin. <3 Talk about dreamy!! Also the guy on the cover, holy moly thank you Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland for that eye candy.
On a more personal note the mental health aspect of the book really hit home for me and I really appreciate how the authors approached it. I like that it was not only represented so well but that it really showed the ways it affects her life and that she’s persevering.
I highly recommend this, it took me on a rollercoaster of emotions I wasn’t expecting but was absolutely pleased to experience. The letters were fantastic! I would read an entire book of just their correspondences from the very beginning. I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about this book, I enjoyed it from start to finish. I will absolutely be rereading this book for sure.
Absolute favorite part of the book was the PI’s descriptions! I. Was. Dying. You will have to read it see what I mean but this book is well worth the read so you won’t regret it.
I’ve read many books from this author’s duet but every time with every book they’re surprising me and enthralled me with their new ideas full of romantic, funny and steamy-sexy stories.
Dirty Letters book took me on the wild journey with Luca and Griffin story I immediately fell in love with them.
I don’t remember when the last time I wrote a letter but after reading this story I’d love to receive one, especially from the man like Griffin. You guys, I was totally engrossed by those two.
This entire anticipation and tension between main heroes in the story made my heart beat faster and my romantic soul drift away into daydreaming.
There was everything what I love in book romances, complicated relationship, bantering between heroes in a funny way, hot steamy romance and profound plot. I didn’t want to get to the end of this book and definitely will return one day to this story. This is must read of 2019.
Another amazing book by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward. This is one of my top favs by them. And it was even better the 2nd time around. Griffin & Luka are everything. Loved their story so much! We all need a Griffin in our lives. Excellent narration by Andi Arndt & Sebastian York.
This was a really fun read. Loved the banter between Luca and Griffin. Love Doc’s wisdom. I’m so glad Luca was able to overcome her fears and find her HEA with Griffin.
