One look and I know… this chick hates me.
I should walk away, find some puck bunny to gleefully sit on my lap and tell me what a big, hot, hockey stud I am–totally true, BTW. But there’s just something about this feisty redhead I can’t let go. She’s got an edge to her that’s sexy as hell and a smart mouth that’s been tying me up since the night I met her.
She tells me to forget it, we’re not … we’re not happening. But this isn’t the kind of woman a guy ever forgets. Especially when the air starts to sizzle and pop every time we get within ten feet of each other. She’s in my head and under my skin, and all I can think about is the way she looked at me that one time. Like she already knew how it could be between us.
I’m not the kind of guy a girl like her takes home… But maybe I want to be.

Hot hockey romance where everything is on fire .,.. on and off the ice!
Dirty Hookup by Mira Lyn Kelly ticks all the boxes for a great book: feel-good romance with just the right level of drama, well crafted storyline, part of a series that stands alone, but makes you feel like you’re a part of the series, and realistic well developed characters.
Ms. Kelly has a great backstory that sets up the book nicely. 8 years ago Quinn and George met up … only to have George put Quinn in the “player category” … some thing that isn’t too far from the truth. Fast forward to the time of the book when the two of them come into contact … from their meeting, Quinn all in and totally infatuated with our George. She takes some convincing … and through dialogue that is witty and swoon worthy, hockey scenes “at work” (because they both work for the Slayers, and a solid storyline that moves along by switching character points of view, you’ll find yourself binge reading this book. Oh! did I mention that the love scenes nearly set my reader on fire??
If you’re looking for a new book .. or are familiar with Ms. Kelly’s writing, Dirty Hookup won’t disappoint. Download now and be prepared for a binge read.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Mira Lyn Kelly
I’m a huge fan of sports romance and this one did not disappoint in any way.
The blurb had me intrigued and I couldn’t wait to see how the story played out.
This was the perfect pick me up and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Quinn and George’s story. I loved the banter, the push and pull between them and their undeniable chemistry.
I highly recommend this book!!
4.5 Stars
This is my first story by this author and I really liked it. Good characters and a good story.
Quinn and Georgie didn’t start on the right foot for sure. Quinn was a hockey player, living a day one at the time, playboy but not a bad guy, having lots of friends but Georgie wasn’t part of them. Just trying so hard to push him away. For a man like Quinn, it was a challenge he wasn’t going to ignore. The more she rejected him, the more he had to get close to her.
This fire-cracker ignited into him a powerful connection she was trying so hard to reject.
This woman showed him how much she hated his guts and wasn’t hiding it at all, because letting a man like him in her life would break her heart.
I appreciated this sports romance with this strong hint of sexiness, a banter that made me smile and swoon at times. The characters were endearing, Quinn was a great surprise who was definitely more than his good looks, someone who really cared, his personality balanced perfectly with Georgie who was a real badass, but needed a little bit of sweetness sometimes.
I have to say their story was deeper than it seemed. Somehow I was a bit conflicted about the real issues that might tear them apart. It was dragged out a little but the author managed to convey their concerns with sincerity.
It was nonetheless a story I loved reading. Full of charm, full of heart with relatable characters.
It definitely made me want to hear more about this team.
3.5-4 stars.
This was fun.
We have George and Quinn, they first time they meet, it’s obvious that George HATES Quinn, which seems unfair, until we find out it’s very well deserved, lol.
I loved George! She was such a cool woman, totally handling her brother and taking care of them at the same time. She also stands up to Quinn when she thinks he’s being a jerk. I felt bad for her and what she went through, but I love it that she’s willing to open her heart to more and maybe, forgive and forget.
Quinn was not a bad guy, he changed a lot in the years since college and you could tell by the way his friends were fiercely protectors of each other. He was sweet and relentless and I loved it that he wasn’t afraid to say sorry when he made a mistake.
These two were great together and I was so happy they moved forward instead of believing what others thought of their relationship.
Fun addition to the series.
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
This is my ARC review for Dirty Hookup.
Quinn O’Brian a hockey player with a playboy reputation.
George Bowen a fiery redhead holding a bit of a grudge.
The perfect second chance romance with a little twist. I can’t get into that without giving to much away.
This book was amazing, Quinn is such a sweetheart it’s unreal. I loved every minute of reading their story. You can’t help but feel bad for them both and all the lies that they were tricked into believing for so long. The end was just perfect. Oh how I love a good happy ending.
Mria Lyn Kelly out did herself. I love all her books so much. This is a must read. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Oh, goodness–this series!
George and Quinn’s story was so much fun to read. Her early put downs of him, combined with her internal thoughts about him, like:
“Vaughn Vassar is in the lead, followed by Doug Shore and stupid sexy haired Quinn O’Brien, who’s probably only bringing up the rear because he stopped to get a back alley blowj*b from some bunny on his way in.
God, I hate him.”
…made me laugh out loud more than once. And once they were together? Let’s just say I’m amazed any ice managed to survive this book…
Of course it turned out that Quinn and George’s story was a second chance romance, even though only one of them knew that it was for the bulk of the book. (Slightly confusing? Sure–but no worries, Ms Kelly explains it all eventually, and all the threads come together into a cohesive narrative that all makes sense AND brings us that much closer to an HEA :D) I liked that they both took responsibility for the problems their relationship ran into–doubly surprising, after the seven year grudge George had been nursing!–and that they resolved things like adults who care about where they are going to end up.
And that epilogue… (swoon!)
Dirty Hookup is the second book in the series, and the third featuring Slayers players ( Dirty Player ) but it should work just fine as a standalone. If you’ve read Natalie and Vaughn’s book, though, you’re going to love the extra time we spend with them here–as the BFFs of George and Quinn, they play pretty big roles. And yes, they’re still absolutely adorable together… 😀
Bring on book 3!
Rating: 4 stars / A-
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Holy hockey sticks! Quinn and George are fire and ice! I adored this story from beginning to end. Georgia, everyone calls her George, has a serious grude against Quinn, not that he can figure out why. When she finally shares a partial truth, he can work at proving he’s better than that. And he does, over and over. George’s partial truth though is a big not whole truth. (I know, I’m spining in circles but youve gotta read it!) The whole truth might just be the end of everything. I fell a little for Quinn. He is a player both on and off the ice before George. He enjoys the hockey bunnies but never feels connected to any woman. Almost like there’s something missing. There is, its linked back to a day in Mexico he can’t remember. Quinn is so much more though. He’s the friend that you can count on, he’s the guy who will bake when youre down and he’s the guy who brought the team together(happened in book 1. Gotta read that one too if you didnt.) George is awesome too. She’s the friend who holds nothing back while giving advice. She’s been hurt badly along the line so shes a little cynical about relationships but thats ok since she doesn’t own a set of rose colored glasses to cloud judgement. She knows going in what Quinn is like and tries to own it. What happens when the Quinn she thinks she knows and the Quinn she finds are two different men, she cant help but fall, hard.
Mira Lyn Kelly has done it again! Just when think I can’t love one of her heroes more, she brings us Quinn. This alpha hockey player has a squishy, emotional center that just calls to me. I want to hug him and take him home…and definitely treat him better than George was treating him. I seriously wanted to smack that girl! But the ongoing tension between them just made for a richer and more page-turning story than if we had her reasons all laid out right away. I did grow to love George, because I could see how conflicted she was to be around Quinn again. Plus, they really were meant to be together, even while dodging obstacles thrown at them from unsuspecting places.
I’m sure Kelly’s next hero will tug at my heart strings just as hard, if not harder, so I’m going to enjoy the deliciousness that is Quinn (and George) until then!
Dirty Hookup is the second book in the Slayers Hockey series by Mira Lyn Kelly. You can read it as standalone but I do recommend reading Dirty Secret since it’s full of banter, fun, and sexy times. And if you read it then you will remember George and Quinn and how much she hated him. It’s on now…
Quinn knew from the moment he saw her, he wanted her. And not just because of her killer body but her sharp tongue and overall badass-ness. He didn’t know what he did to make this woman hate him but he was determined to find out. It could take a day, a week, a year but he knew he would do it. He never walked away from a challenge and that’s exactly what George was. He might have been a player on and off the ice but for her? He wanted to show her who he really was and that right there just might be why he catches her watching him. He is a puzzle to her and he wants her to complete every last piece.
George hates him. She has her reasons and that’s all anyone needs to know. And for some reason even after months of death glares and a snarky attitude, he won’t just go away. She tries to ignore him but that devilish smile and arm porn gets her every time and he knows it. She really does hate the way her body reacts to him. She just doesn’t get it. Maybe it was time for him to get a taste of his own medicine.
That’s all I can really say without spoiling the book. I will say that I love them both. Quinn is more than a hot hockey player who knows how to use his stick and use it well. He is sweet, funny, and flirty. George is like I said, a badass. She plays hockey and runs a bike shop and always puts her brothers in check. She is smart, witty, and sweet too. Together, their banter is full of fun, flirt, and some hate thrown in.
Overall…it’s a fun, sexy, and sweet read. It was awesome catching up with Vaughn and Natalie and some of the team. Players I hope get books in the future.
Quotes:
Vaughn Vassar is in the lead, followed by Doug Shore and stupid sexy-haired Quinn O’Brian, who’s probably only bringing up the rear because he stopped to get a back-alley blowjob from some bunny on his way in.
God, I hate him.
“Come on, Georgie. Tell me I’m your hero.”
“Pass.”
“O’Brian, are you going to do this or not? Show me what you’ve got.”
Dirty Hookup
Quinn O’Brian, the biggest player on the team, who can tame the untamed?
George Bowen, tomboy, fiery and a hang for grudges. Can she look past, past sins?
“Because every time I try to stop, it feels like I can’t fucking breathe. Like something vital is slipping through my fingers and if I let go, I’ll never be okay again. ”
For once, the ending was a twist I didn’t see. How they worked through it, communicated like real adults!
I really liked the connection between these two MC’S. And the author made me feel it, the longing, the love and the laugh!

I feel like the premise of the story was good but it was mildly disappointing that Quinn wasn’t able to figure key things out on his own. I was frustrated by George’s name which is stupid but it drove me crazy. Overall I would give it a 4.5 star rating because I enjoyed it and can’t wait for more!!
This was my first book from the author. You know me, I can’t pass a sports romance with an interesting synopsis. So it was a no brainer for me to sign up for the release!
Quinn and Georgie’s story is complicated at best. It took me a while at first to get into it and being able to follow the storyline. When I overcame this issue, I was all in for these two! Quinn might come with a less than stellar reputation but he’s a softie at heart! Georgie is tough as nails, she has to after growing up with older brothers. She’s hostile towards him from the start because of something that happened years ago. The thing is that he doesn’t remember any of it!
The book is really good, not really heavy on the sports part and not filled with unnecessary drama. All in all, “Dirty Hookup” is an enjoyable read with some really sexy moments to keep you company!!!
Quinn and George. We first meet Quinn and George in Natalie and Vaugh’s story Dirty Secret. You could tell from the interactions in that story just how special a guy Quinn is. He friended Vaugh, even when other kept their distance. There is something super remarkable about a nice guy.
However, we quickly learn in Dirty Hook Up that George does not think Quinn is a nice guy at all!! A chance meeting eight year in the past has left a bad taste in George’s mouth and she is unable to forgive Quinn. She is also unable to get him out of her mind and heart. For eight years she has compared every romantic experience she has with the one she had with Quinn eight years ago. Part of her issue with Quinn is he acts like he doesn’t even remember her or their encounter. Every time they run in to each other she is reminded of her gullibility in believing in Vaugh.
My heart broke a little each time George has an encounter with Vaugh. I love him he is such a good guy. Helping old ladies, being there for his teammates, but George just couldn’t see it. There are a couple of times I wanted to strangle her and shake her to just talk to him! I love that George’s character isn’t overtly feminine and Vaugh is attracted to her just the way she is. Which again just shows you what an amazing guy he is.
I don’t usually have the hots for the nice guy, but there is something spectacular about Vaugh. He gave me all the good feels. I was rooting for him from page one!!! I don’t know if it is just the good guy persona, I did fall in love with him in Dirty Secret for being such a good friend to Vaugh. Once George and Quinn connected it was hot. They have a truly romantic connection. So much love, so many feels.
Dirty Hook Up is a 5/5 Star read for me. I love Hockey Romances. I am not usually a fan at second chance romances, but this is more than just a second chance. Lace up your skates friends, this is one hot trip around the ice for sure!
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is an awesome story and I loved it so much. It is the story of instant love between George and Quinn. Quinn who is a hockey player on the team and he sees G for what he thinks is the first time and he falls hard but she hates him and I mean HATE. So its a bit like hate turning to her on her side as he pursues her and only her.
However G also fell hard for him until he forgot about her and treated her badly the next day and so now she just hates him. That is until their two best friends fall in love and they are forced together
I loved the mystery and what happened in Mexico and why Quinn cannot remember G. It was a wonderful romance and I loved how hard Quinn worked to get G to give him a chance.
Book 2 in the Slayers Hockey series and it was a great addition to the series. Loved this so much. Quinn and George were so good. They hooked up about 7 years ago and she never forgot him even though it seems like he did. Loved this second chance romance. They had a push and pull relationship that was so fun to watch. He wanted her but she didn’t want him because she didn’t want to get hurt again. This book will pull you in from page 1 until the very end. Love Ms. Kelly’s work and I can’t wait to read more of this series and of her work.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
LOVED!! I have been addicted to hockey stories and I completely blame this series! Mira Lyn Kelly is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! Quinn and George are amazing! I absolutely loved everything about this book! I cannot wait for more!
Love at first sight twice!
Mira Lyn Kelly is my Queen for dirty talking, badass heroes that are absolute sweethearts to their ladies…well when they aren’t being the best kind of dirty
Quinn and George’s best friends are now an item, which means they’ll be spending time around each other…there’s just one problem she hates him and he’s fallen in love at first sight!
The backstory, unruly brothers, lemon bars, and George’s attempt to even the score combine to make for a delicious read!
Now I’m going need Rux and Cammy ASAP!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Quinn and Georgia’s story. Quinn is the playboy hockey player with a huge heart, and from the moment he meets Georgia is know she is the girl for him and starts pursuing her, even though she wants no part in this. This is a well written fast paced and steamy read which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all sports lovers.
Everyone knows how much I love hockey romances – they are everything that is good in the contemporary romance world! Mira Lyn Kelly’s book “Dirty Hookup” is a fantastic addition to that category. In it we get to know Quinn and George and man oh man what an incredible story it is. Having met years earlier when they were both on vacation in Mexico, things take an ugly turn when Quinn loses his memory, and doesn’t remember the girl that he fell head over heels in love with. George for her part is angry, resentful and peeved off. When they meet again almost seven years later she wants nothing to do with him, but in reality she does.
Not only is this book a great sports romance read, it’s also an incredible second chance one. In all honesty, I’m not a huge fan of this trope, but Mira did a spectacular job with this book and has me rethinking my position on them.
You will fall head over hockey sticks for Quinn and George’s love story because there is nothing more sexy than a man who falls in love at first sight, with the same girl, twice! TBR and enjoy.
