One look and I know… this chick hates me.
I should walk away, find some puck bunny to gleefully sit on my lap and tell me what a big, hot, hockey stud I am–totally true, BTW. But there’s just something about this feisty redhead I can’t let go. She’s got an edge to her that’s sexy as hell and a smart mouth that’s been tying me up since the night I met her.
She tells me to forget it, we’re not … we’re not happening. But this isn’t the kind of woman a guy ever forgets. Especially when the air starts to sizzle and pop every time we get within ten feet of each other. She’s in my head and under my skin, and all I can think about is the way she looked at me that one time. Like she already knew how it could be between us.
I’m not the kind of guy a girl like her takes home… But maybe I want to be.

This series just keeps getting better and better.
George had this magic night with Quinn seven years ago. She got hurt. She doesn’t forgive him for it, but she can’t forget about him either.
Quinn doesn’t remember her. But when he sees her, something in him changes.
And it’s “Happily ever after in action, baby!”
Mira has a knack for telling the story and making you feel like you’re living it. So yeah, I was George for a little while and I was in Quinn’s shoes for some time as well. And when everything fell into place, I teared up a bit. Some books just do that to you.
So happy I read this one – bring in September 8th for the next one.
When Slayers hockey player Quinn O’Brian first runs into Georgia “George” Bowen he knows this is it. She’s the one for him. Thing is, she’s not so quick to call it love at first sight. In fact it seems more like loathe at first sight. Quinn knows he has a reputation, but since meeting George all that has changed. He’s not going anywhere. He’s going to show her that he’s a good man, that he just wants a chance.
When George runs into Quinn, the first thing that hits her is the fact that he doesn’t remember who she is. That’s right, George and Quinn have met before, and subsequently unceremoniously parted after a night spent together. While she doesn’t want to go through that again, it’s been seven years and she still can’t seem to get Quinn out of her system. So maybe agreeing to go out with him will give her a chance to put the past to rest. Good idea. Until they both start falling for one another. Now, George can do nothing but think of the past and if it’s secrets will influence their future.
The moment it becomes clear that Quinn and George have previously met, not only previously met but spent some up close and personal time together, I was hooked. It was this secret just looming in the background of the book that you knew was going to have huge influence on how things progress between Quinn and George. Mira Lyn Kelly played it all so well. And I think it all comes down to the fact that readers know Quinn is not that guy. You know, the one who loves them and leaves them, even with his reputation. So figuring out exactly what happened seven years ago really drove the story for me. While the developing feelings between Quinn and George tenuously held everything together. I say tenuously only because when there’s secrets you know there will be consequences and those don’t become apparent until towards the end.
One thing is I wish we could have gotten more glimpses of George and Quinn from before. Just a few more reminisces that would really hit home how truly effected George was by Quinn not remembering her. Yes, it would have been a tad more heartbreaking of a read, but I was here for the feels anyway.
Overall, it’s a quick, surprisingly light read that really gets to the heart of the relationship between Quinn and George with ease. Their chemistry and attraction to one another is hot. Steamy moments aplenty, but I really loved the moments when we got to the heart of how they feel for one another.
There’s of course a lot of set up for other players on the team to get their HEAs and I’m excited to see who is up next!

This book is a wonderful mix of sweet and sexy and funny.
I am in love with Quinn O’brien head over heels lick his cinnamon rolls infatuated.
George was hard for me. She was difficult to digest in book one of the series since she felt like not a great friend, letting her personal hurt get in the way of supporting Natalie, and it took me a long time to warm up to her in this book, but that’s because it’s a personal peeve of mine – when a girl chooses to lose her v card on a vacation fling and then gets all upset when the guy doesn’t show up to meet her parent the morning after. You knew him one day, own up to your choices.
That being said, she was a kick-ass, no bullshit, my kind of gal woman, well layered as a character, and totally redeemed herself. I loved her by the end of the book.
The added family drama definitely helped with strengthening her back story and that was a smart touch by Kelly.
Highly recommend starting with: Dirty Player, Dirty Secret and Dirty Rebound: A Slayers Hockey Novel which are great reads!
Quinn has his work cut out for him!
He doesn’t care if he’s seen as a slick playboy bunny banger because, well, it’s true. He has no problems in the lady department for sure. He knows he’s a good guy too so it sorta balances out. But George is a tough nut to crack. She despises him and he has no idea why. She knows why. They’ve met before and she fell for what she thought was his sincerity. He didn’t remember and she isn’t stooping to remind him. Quinn does everything he can to win her over and it’s actually really sweet! I loved it. I love him, I love her, I love all of it!!
This was a fast read mostly because I couldn’t put it down and read it all at once! It was so awesome and so sweet. I can’t wait for the next player up so I can get little snippets of what Quinn & George are up to now!
Book hangover!
Oh if there’s one thing I love it’s a good hockey romance!!
This was a cute and fun read that at times would have me swooning so hard for Quinn then other moments kind of sad for George because their history. Quinn and George have a history but with turns of events Quinn doesn’t recognize her or act like he knows her and this further makes George angry because it’s been years that she’s compared every man to him and this makes her so upset. Not to give too much away I love this series, the group dynamics, the laughs, the swoons, and the hot hockey players.
What a LOL, angsty, hawt, second chance romance…these 2 were perfect for each other. Loved it!!!
This is book 2 of the Slayers Hockey series. Quinn is a professional hockey player and a ladies man. Georgie is a good friend of the girlfriend of Quinn’s best friend. Quinn falls for Georgie the first moment he sees her but she is hostile and shuts him down immediately. Despite her attraction to Quinn, Georgie cannot forget that they met seven years ago and Quinn made forever after promises and then ghosted her the next day. Quinn does not remember meeting Georgie though so he is confused about her animosity and hostility. On their way to their HEA, Georgie has to see if she can let go of her past hurt and trust her heart to someone else again and embrace the leap of faith love requires. Georgie had more growth than Quinn in this book but that fit the storyline. Quinn was steadfast in his pursuit of Georgie even without all the facts. One look and he was hit with the love stick – twice. I loved the give and take between the two of them. The love and the fear of the characters was palpable and relatable. I especially like when real issues – like past trauma and family dynamics – are included in romances, it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded storylines. I will definitely keep reading more of this great series.
Slayers Hockey #2
Quinn and George (Georgia) met 7 years ago in Mexico and hooked up for one night. Both thought something more was gonna come of it but something else happened. She met him again a few years later and he didn’t recognize her and her resentment grew. Present day, they meet again through friends, she can’t stand him and he thinks there’s something familiar about her but what he doesn’t know. She thinks he’s a player and he can’t figure out why she hates him and he wants to change that, he likes her and isn’t one to shy away from a challenge.
Secrets, miscommunication, can they get through it all and find out what really happened?
4 stars
“Everything about this girl gets to me in ways I can’t seem to predict or even begin to understand.”
Dirty Hookup was the perfect escape. I put my earbuds in, pressed play, and easily lost myself in this enjoyable, romantic story. The time just flew on by.
It’s love at first sight for Quinn O’Brien…only it’s not quite the first time he and George Bowen have met. 6 years ago, the two shared something passionate together in Mexico. All these years, George has carried a grudge. The promises Quinn made her were nothing but falsities used to lure her to bed and leave her afterward. Or were they? What Quinn can’t remember and George doesn’t know might not be enough to keep these two from succumbing to the fate that’s brought them together once again.
This second installment in the Slayers Hockey series was another sports romance hit! Once again, the steam is off the charts, the romance is sweet, and the friendships and team relationships are solid. I love how much Quinn adored George. Even when she continually blew him off, he never wasted time with anyone else.
Sports romance fans, don’t sleep on this series!
I am going through the books in this series and I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve been listening to the audiobook, with Savannah Peachwood and Christian Fox and they have been awesome. Christian Fox especially-I know I’ve heard his narration before but his smooth speaking and infusion of emotion really elevates the story.
The story itself is fun too. This is George and Quinn’s story. They have a past that Quinn can’t remember and George can’t forget (or forgive him for). So there’s a bit of push and pull. I thought Quinn was adorable but George’s inability to tell the truth about the past was a bit too extended into the story, in my opinion. That said, it’s a relatively short story so regardless, this was a fun listen!
Quinn & George are a very likable couple. I always enjoy Ms. Kelly’s hockey romances, she brings fire and ice.
Really enjoyed the book and the characters. Although this was the 2nd book in the series, this was my introduction to the any of the characters mentioned. I found George and Quinn to be entertaining, realistic and characters that I’ll want to know more about in future books. The secondary characters were interesting and made me want to go read all of the books that came before this one.
Really appreciate how the ‘complete picture’ was explained throughout the book and thought the resolutions made complete sense for each character. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
This is the second book in the Slayers Hockey series. I really liked the first book and was excited for the next one in the series. This book is told in duel point of view which is my favorite writing style. I like knowing what both characters are feeling/thinking.
This book is the story of George and Quinn. George and Quinn hooked up 7 years before the story starts. The story starts with them “meeting” at a hospital, but Quinn doesn’t remember George and she’s upset about it thinking he’s just a player.
Through out the book Quinn has feelings for George, but she’s trying to keep her distance so she doesn’t get hurt again. They start hanging out and feelings change between them. Can she keep her secret that they met before? Does he eventually remember her?
I loved that both characters had growth through out the book.
I really liked this book, and can’t wait for the next one in the series.
** I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love a good sports romance and while I’ve not read the previous book in the Slayers hockey series, I was not lost when reading Dirty Hookup. I ended up falling in love with Quinn although he is a self-professed a playboy. When Quinn meets George, he’s instantly drawn to her and, although she’s clear in her disdain for him, he’s compelled to try and get to know her better if for no other reason than both of their best friends are a couple and they’ll be thrown together for future get togethers.
I loved the fact Quinn and George had a past, which was the primary reason for George’s feelings for Quinn, but as the story goes along you learn there’s more to the story than she originally thought. There’s a lot of heart and forgiveness in this book and I’m excited I’ve found a new author.
Thanks to the author for an ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review.
I am a sucker for hockey romances and this definitely hit the spot! I love the second chance for Quinn and George. Their first encounter didn’t end the way is should have with Quinn not remembering it. So you can guess how well it goes when George comes across Quinn again. Their chemistry is crazy hot and George can only push Quinn away so many times before she gives in. Watching them fall in love again will give you all the feels. You can’t go wrong with this quick and steamy romance!
George has no idea why this gorgeous woman seems to despise him – it’s not the norm and definitely not what he’s used to. But what he doesn’t remember is what Quinn wants to wipe from her memory. Being forgettable is not something anyone wants to be reminded of when a gorgeous guy starts pursuing you.
Dang…when George is determined, he is really freakin determined, and the chase was on. I like that Quinn put him off for quite a bit – she’s tough and feisty and not about to let him know how he had broken her heart so thoroughly by forgetting her. Boneheaded man! But deep down, these two are made for each other and the way they went about securing their second chance is entertaining, hot reading.
Fun second chance romance, with a little bit of a twist. Quinn O’Brian has the hots for George Bowen, but George hates Quinn with a burning passion. Is Quinn up to the challenge to get past George’s defenses and can George let go of the past?
Second chance, enemies to lovers story. Great camaraderie amongst friends and Georgie’s family were lovely and protective. Very steamy with an HEA.
Mira Lynn Kelly absolutely knocked it out of the park with George and Quinn in Dirty Hookup!
The story was really well developed and I LOVE a good sports story line. Growing up watching hockey makes me want my own romance story!
This second chance romance was so well written and had me hooked from the start. George (Georgia) was a fantastic heroine, and didn’t make things easy for playboy Quinn.
Amazing addition to the Slayers Hockey series! Cannot wait for the next!
