One look and I know… this chick hates me.
I should walk away, find some puck bunny to gleefully sit on my lap and tell me what a big, hot, hockey stud I am–totally true, BTW. But there’s just something about this feisty redhead I can’t let go. She’s got an edge to her that’s sexy as hell and a smart mouth that’s been tying me up since the night I met her.
She tells me to forget it, we’re not … we’re not happening. But this isn’t the kind of woman a guy ever forgets. Especially when the air starts to sizzle and pop every time we get within ten feet of each other. She’s in my head and under my skin, and all I can think about is the way she looked at me that one time. Like she already knew how it could be between us.
I’m not the kind of guy a girl like her takes home… But maybe I want to be.

Loved it so much I read it in one sitting!!
An amazing story of second chances due to huge misunderstandings.
George & Quinn are so good together.
This was a great 2nd chance romance in the world of pro hockey. It is also book 2 in the series & can be read as a stand alone but I would highly recommend reading book 1 first. I really liked how George at first wouldn’t give Quinn the time of day, holding on to her grudge against him. It was fun to see how much he had to work to get her to talk to him. I really enjoyed seeing how they went from being enemies of a sort, to friends to more. I was also happy to get updates on some of the couples in their group.
Kelly continues to keep her readers guessing. From a beautiful surprise to a tragic inspiration. There’s never a dull moment with the characters she dreams up. Dirty Hookup turns frenemies into what could be something more. Quinn and George are the best kind of romance, because despite the obvious sparks, nothing is smooth sailing. Both author and characters make your heart work to get to a happy ending. Fire and ice ignite an unpredictable flame.
I’m such a fan of Mira Lyn Kelly. She writes the best sexy, feel-good romances and she gets better with each book she puts out. I adored Dirty Hookup…Mira has written a wonderful story filled with in-depth characters, hot sexy times and sweet sigh inducing moments.
The book is an fantastic read that I finished in a day. Dirty Hookup is a great addition to the Slayers series. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
This was an excellent read. I loved the chemistry and tension that ebbed and flowed between George and Quinn. I found this couple’s relationship to be complicated and captivating. They say that there is a very fine line between love and hate and trust me when I say this two don’t just walk this line they dance all over it. Intense emotions, turmoil, drama, desire, humor, sweetness, heart, angst, cuteness and lots and lots of spark flying, temperature rising sizzling steam are woven throughout this well crafted tale of animosity, persistence and love. An absolutely terrific romance that will melt your heart and leave you smiling. I am posting a independent, impartial review.
Wow! Another fantastic Chicago Slayers Hockey book. Quinn and George were a great couple and I loved the frenemies to lovers feel to their relationship. When Quinn meets George at the hospital he feels like he has a case of deja vu but he brushes it off and he can’t figure out why George can’t seem to stand the sight of him. George is attracted to Quinn and is not happy with herself for this, Quinn has quite the reputation with the ladies and she doesn’t want to be just another puck bunny to him.
You could feel the attraction between these two from the get go even through George’s animosity/hurt towards Quinn. You really rooted for these two because they really were great together. As soon as Quinn talked to George he just knew there was something different about this girl and he would do whatever to keep her in his life.
I really enjoyed seeing more of Vaughn and Natalie, and more peeks at Rux, Cammy, and Margo. This was a fabulous book and I am soo looking forward to more in this series.
I freakin’ LOVED this SO MUCH!!! I couldn’t love it any more if I tried. This was second chance done right…so, so right. The emotions were strong with this one.
I loved watching Georgie go from angry to vengeful to lustful to in-control to vulnerable. The author made it so easy to side with her, to understand her feelings.
Quinn is sexy AF, he’s a talented hockey player, he’s goes after what he wants…and usually gets it. He’s big-hearted, he’s a caveman, he’s patient, and he’s oh so swoony and romantic.
We watch as the past is revealed, hearts are crushed, betrayals happen, explanations are made, and the truth comes out.
I love love love the writing style of this author. I can easily visualize everything. I can FEEL everything. This story was fun where it needed to be, full of heart at the perfect times, and deliciously steamy when I needed it most. It gave me everything.
This book comes highly recommended by me!
I LOVED Quinn and George! George for obvious reasons absolutely hates Quinn, you find out pretty quickly why. Quinn genuinely doesn’t know why she hates him so much when he anything but hates her! Everywhere George is Quinn appears to be as well and the fact that her BFF is dating one of Quinn’s team mates just means that keep getting thrown together! This is a fab second chance romance that you won’t be able to put down! As always it’s fun to catch up with previous characters we know and love and also get an insight into who the next book in the series will be about! I received an ARC of this book. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Man how I love second chance romance such as this one. I absolutely loved Quinn. He was such a sweetheart. I loved his persistence for keep pushing for George to give him a chance.
She had every right to be angry and wanting anything to do with him but as they start their relationship and every time something gets cleared about the past I got ta little teary and just hoping the past doesn’t keep them apart once again. What I loved the lost was the fact that when everything came to light they talked it over and they managed to get the HEA that slipped through their fingers 8 years before.
I’m so in love with this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next because I’m sure we’re in for a lot of fun.

Okay, so I’ve applied myself to the task of giving an honest review of every book in this series. And I just have to say…I’m fucking happy to do it!
I am enjoying this series so much. I can’t wait for the fourth book to come out and for me to know who it’s about-fingers crossed on Margo and Laurel’s brother!
But anyway, this book is another hit by Kelly. I’ve only just discovered her, and like I said in my review of Dirty Secret, I think she’s going to quickly become a favorite. Hell, she’s already there! I loved the characters in this book, Quinn was so understanding and determined and just plain nice. I really like how this author writes her heroes in this series so far. They aren’t complete tools, and for once I’m reading a book where the characters don’t have some stark past that makes them dark and broody and hurtful to the other characters. Don’t get me wrong, I do fancy those types of book, but this has been a change of pace that I find really nice.
George was feisty and kick-ass and I loved her from the beginning. Her keeping her ‘secret’ for so long was kind of annoying, because from the beginning you know that Quinn isn’t the type of guy to leave her over a secret like that, though I can understand why George had that fear. I was glad with the way the story ended, and love how things worked out with George’s family. I was worried about that, but was pleasantly surprised at how the author concluded it.
I read this book in less then twenty four hours, and I’m proud to say that I’ve read the first two books in this series within two days, and am about to happily start the third, because I’m so excited about Rux and Cammy’s story!
I adored this couple and their story! I just had the best feeling the entire time I was reading this book and didn’t want it to ever end. I could have read about Quinn and George forever. This is going on my Would Read Again shelf on Goodreads, which is basically my version of a Favorites shelf but more exclusive.
Six years ago they met in Mexico in an ice cream shop and the next day Quinn tore her heart up and threw it away. Almost seven years later Georgie has never forgotten or forgive Quinn for the devistation he left her in, and the fact that he doesn’t even recognize her only makes her hate him more. Now she is more determined than ever to not be just another one of his buckle bunnies.
Quinn doesn’t know what he did to warrant the kind of hate Georgie has for him but he can’t seem to get her off his mind. More than ever he is determined to prove he isn’t the man she thinks he is. But any chance these two have may be destroyed when the truth comes out.
Quinn is Vaughn’s best friend and you meet him in book 1. Nice guy/self-proclaimed “big, hot, hockey stud.” He knows George hates him but he doesn’t know why. And he’s made it his mission to get her to like him!u2063

George is one of Natalie’s best friends from college. She runs her family’s bike shop with her over-involved (and over-protective) brothers. She does NOT like Quinn and wants nothing to do with him. Except…she’s inexplicably drawn to him. u2063

There’s a bit of a backstory with these two but I don’t want to give anything away about this one, so you’re going to have to read it to find out! u2063

I loved these two almost as much as I loved Vaughn and Natalie! They had great chemistry and steamy times and I loved their back and forth “I hate you/You’re going to like me” banter. u2063

I didn’t mention this yesterday, but one of the things I love about Natalie and George is that they’re also hockey players and played on the collegiate level! Natalie coaches a youth team and George (a goalie, which automatically makes her a badass) helps her with her girls when she can. A great addition to the story for me!u2063

3 stars!
Dirty Hookup is the second book in the Slayers Hockey series and follows the story of Quinn and George (short for Georgia). The two hooked up 6 years ago on Winter Break. Man does she give him the cold shoulder at first interaction! She REALLY makes him work for her attention. This was drama filled! Almost too much at times. There was a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming but how the author lead up to that twist I didn’t agree with or like. I enjoyed the connection between Quinn and George once she FINALLY opens up and allows him in. There was a ton of push and pull in this one and I found it hard to connect to the emotional side of these characters. Quinn stood out to me in this book. He is patient and protective of George even though she is hiding something. I love the friendships formed between the hockey players. Even though I didn’t like this one nearly as much as the first I’m invested in these characters and am looking forward to the next one in the series!
I love Hockey books and especially a series of hockey books. Mira Lyn Kelly is one of those authors that never let you down. You just know right from when you turn (or tap) that first page that she is going to transport you into her world, or in this case the world of the Slayers hockey team.
What I really loved about Quinn and George is that their story was one I hadn’t read before. No I don’t mean a reread but for me the whole concept was unique. I had never read a book with their set of circumstances or even something like them. It was fresh and new and I absolutely loved it. So many feels and I was left wanting more. That’s the best about a series, you know you will get more. Albeit in the background but I already can’t wait for the next installment in the Chicago Slayers world.
First, let me get the part I didn’t like out of the way. The names. The guy is named Quinn, which is fine, it’s fairly unisex. But then the girls name is George. Short for Georgia, but no one calls her that, so it was confusing a few times in the begining dealing with a unisex name and a girl that goes by a guys name. But after that, it was all good.
I loved the vulnerability that we saw from both characters. You could feel sympathy for both of them very easily. I don’t want to give away details, but I loved their interactions, even when they weren’t coming from the best place. Quinn turned out to be more sensitive then you would expect for a play boy hockey player. Those are the best kind of characters, tough on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. I loved the way the love at first sight played out.
