They’re serving up some red-hot revenge. A sizzling series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken.Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a … divorce him less than a year later?
Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.
Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price.
Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

I never say no to a Rachel Van Dyken book….ever. Plus, this one was connected to the Wingmen Inc. series which I literally laughed and smiled all the way through. Sometimes you just need a lighthearted and funny book in your life. Am I right? Of course, I am and Rachel delivers with Blaire in Dirty Exes.
Blaire is Ian’s sister and a PI. The opening sequence with her in a sewer drain sets the tone for the absolute hilarity that is quintessential Blaire. The girl gets herself in all types of ridiculous situations doing her job and her latest job provides an easy set up for more ridiculous situations. Blaire is asked to investigate her ex Jessie by his wife. Is he cheating? Problem for Blaire is that she compares all men to Jessie even her late husband who cheated on her. Add in Jessie’s best friend Colin and you have a gut busting rom com.
I would easily take this book by the pool with a drink for a relaxing albeit laugh out loud afternoon. If you haven’t read Rachel Van Dyken, then pick up Dirty Exes now…..also, Wingmen Inc, her mafia men, her Seaside series….the list goes on and on. You can never go wrong with RVD.
This is another great read from Rachel Van Dyken. If you’ve read Wingmen INC, then you already know who Blair is. She’s Ian’s sister and part of the reason he started Wingmen.
I loved the characters in this story. Well, everyone except Vanessa. She’s the devil. I swear. I wish Blair and Isla would have beat her! Or Rachel can do a re-write to write me in and I’ll do it!
Colin, AKA “basement dweller” is an amazing guy.
Jessie is also.
Everyone is just stuck in a hard spot because of lies and omissions, plus some manipulation. I felt for them all.
Jessie was a sucker though. He was being manipulated and he knew it, but it didn’t put a stop to it.
I love how everything worked out. I was cheering for Mr. man-bun the whole time!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it. This story has an interesting premise and great characters. Blaire is a cool chick. Her job is to catch cheating spouses. She is bitter and insecure, though, cause guys have either cheated on her or left her without a reason why. On her last job she sees Jessie, her brother’s friend and an old hookup. The guy that left her for a football career without a backward glance. Turns out this meeting has a purpose. Jessie is married and his wife has hired Blaire to catch him cheating. During her stakeout on Jessie, she finds help in Colin, Jessie’s friend and all together hot, bun wearing guy. Two guys vying for Blaire’s attention. Lucky girl. The “will they, won’t they” scenario between Jessie and Blaire kept me entertained. I definitely will check out the next book in this series.
Outwardly, a scorned PI dedicated to embarrassing cheaters might not sound like the best backdrop for a love triangle. But Rachel Van Dyken provides a fun, funny, sweet and sexy read while successfully launching the first in her Liars, Inc. series.
When Jessie Beckett left Blaire to pursue his NFL career, she tried to move on but ended up marrying a cheating douche canoe she soon divorced and now firm, dedicated to catch and humiliate cheaters in the act, has been hired to investigate none other than Jessie. A difficult task given the fact that she never got over him. But his best friend Colin is willing to help, sort of. Mostly he’s been flirting with her from the moment they met while she was spying on Jessie in Colin’s hotel. She’s got sweet history with one and an incredible attraction with the other and now she has to decide.
Rachel Van Dyken’s effervescence shines through in fun, sassy and witty dialogue which is nicely balanced with the swoony moments full of emotion. The story has many share-tastic bits yet the plot is also rife with twists and turns that, if shared, would zap all the enjoyment out of the read. I can mention though that the tale is told from various points of view and that Jessie, Colin and Blaire are charming characters that easily made me smile and laugh. It was an unputdownable book which I’ve read several times since it landed on my eReader.
Dirty Exes is book #1 of the Liars Inc. series by Rachel Van Dyken. It is standalone contemporary romance told by several points of view with a happy ending.
Losing the person that might be ‘the ONE’ is never easy. For Blaire – the dream Jessie held with football outweighed any possible future together. A blow to Blaire’s heart that led her to the douche bag that would end up tainting Blaire’s outlook on love. A ‘cheater’ that left Blaire broken hearted enough to dive head first into a company that unearths the sordid secrets involving relationships with cheaters. A company where Blaire dives into the task just like any other Private Investigator, but with the ‘joy’ that comes with exposing a cheater for whom they really are.
The latest assignment for the company has Blaire trying to unearth the ‘dirt’ on an NFL star. What Blaire quickly learned was the target was none other than Jessie Beckett. The guy that left Blaire to pursue his dreams of playing football for the pros has just come back into the picture, and Blaire cannot keep this assignment ‘cut and dry’. Jessie knows that Blaire was the one that got away, and wants to spend more time with the gal that still makes him want more for his life.
One thing that will make things harder for Blaire to perform her investigation is the push and pull between Jessie and his best friend. Colin is everything that Jessie is not. From the man-bun to the snake tattoo, Colin is the exact opposite of Jessie. While trying to end his marriage, Jessie pulled the ‘friend code’ on Colin where Blaire is concerned. That might be easier said than done as Colin feels an extremely intense connection to Blaire. Two men vying for the attention of one gal who is so unsure of her ‘worth’. How will this triad handle the intensity? Only time will tell which man will win the heart of the gal that never thought she was worthy for love.
What an interesting concept for a new series!!! The investigation that Blaire and her friends do to even the playing field for ‘cheaters’ is intriguing and gives me the giggles imagining the antics. From the very beginning, I found myself drawn into Blaire’s plight to uncover the ‘dirt’ on Jessie, and decide how her feelings from the past will affect the assignment. While Jessie seemed to be a good guy, I couldn’t help my desire for Colin to be the man to win Blaire’s heart. Two completely different men that have a deeper connection that one could imagine.
Both are solely invested in just how much their individual attractions are to Blaire. Readers will find themselves straddling the fence when secrets come to light that could affect which man SHOULD win the heart of the gal that definitely deserves to find that one true love. A great beginning to a series that seems to be full of exciting things to come!!
***4.5 stars***
Dirty Exes by Rachel Van Dyken brings a whole new aspect to the romance world, I’m talking a game changer!
Blair is fed up with those who are unfaithful, she’s decided to bring them all down. With her fierce partner Isla by her side they are set and ready to make the cheaters pay! All you have to do is call Dirty Exes.
Dirty Exes is the first book in the Liars, Inc. series. This novel is told in three point of views.
First we have Blaire who Co-Owns Dirty Exes. Blair and her friend Isla founded Dirty Exes after they both, on the same night, caught their men cheating. That night they came up with a plan and an instant friendship was set in stone. No cheaters shall be left unexposed. I loved Blair and her quirkiness. Throughout this novel I only had one thought in my head, I wanted this woman to find the strong neverending type love, if there was ever a character who deserves it more than all, it would be Blaire.
Next we have Jessie. He’s an ex-NFL player and suspect to be a potential cheater. When Dirty Exes get a call from a hollywood socialite who suspects her husband is being unfaithful, Blaire and Isla agree to accept the mission. However, When digging for information on said culprit, Blaire runs into a snag. The man in question is none other than her former flame and ‘the who one who got away’. Conflict of Interest…? I think so.
Last point of view is Mr. Billionaire himself Colin! Colin is the best friend of former NFL player Jessie. He’s also the brother to Jessie’s wife Vanessa… He has the perfect bad boy image with the playboy attitude to match. When Colin catches Blair in the middle of her spy session, her feels an instant connection with her. But that connection may only be one sided after he learns his best friend has already called dibs… a long time ago.
Dirty Exes was so much fun to read! I loved the concept of this whole novel. The characters where written well with the type of chemistry that is undeniable. Lets not forget, All the amazing DRAMA! I couldn’t get enough!
Throughout the novel, there was a thought constantly going on in my head… Who is Blair going to end up with? I loved the fact that I had no clue who she was going to end up with until the very moment it happened! I loved the element of surprise, and the fact that she chose my favorite guy was a happy bonus!
I cannot wait to see what Rachel Van Dyken has up her sleeve next!
Rachel Van Dyken is a rom-com writing genius!
Dirty Exes is a such fantastic read. I don’t know where the idea for this series and these heroes & heroines came from. Shows incredible creativity on the authors part for the extraordinary detail in every aspect. Love, Love, Love everything about his book!
I call dibs on Colin – he is MINE! This man is delish! The entire time I was reading this book I kept thinking that Colin is my favorite male character ever. He is everything! Sexy, sweet, patient, witty and most of all has a wicked sense of humor. I have read almost everything this amazing author has written and love them ALL. All of her characters are multi-faceted, complex, developed and yet out of all of those – I still claim Colin and my soul mate! Sorry, not sorry Blaire!
Blaire is brilliant, unique, strong but a bit unlucky. Her divorce from dirt bag Jason, the cheating ex husband and her best friend has led her to becoming a PI. Her firm specializes in helping suspicious spouses serve up a hot case of humiliation and revenge. Blaire believes in her heart she’s helping couples especially after being married to a liar herself. I love that over the course of this story her perspective changes. She finds herself in the midst of a complicated case that makes her question everything. Realizing things aren’t always as they appear. I love that as soon as she meets Colin, he plays right along with her hilarity! These two are phenomenal together! The nicknames – omg – utterly brilliant. Their chemistry is sizzling hot and when they combust (that swing! that shower scene! gah) it is magnificent!
Jessie looked at Blaire as the one that got away. When they meet again – old feelings surface. Too bad Jessie’s wife hires Dirty Exes to catch her cheating husband. Complicated isn’t even a strong enough word to describe the tangled web of this story. There are connections between these characters that left me gasping in shock. Game changers that are revealed along the way. Jessie’s wife is awful – total manipulative hag. Again, things aren’t always as the seem.
Despite the way everyone becomes intertwined – the way this story unfolds – the feelings that develop for Colin & Blair is beautiful. If anyone deserves an amazing love story, it is these two incredible characters. So witty and entertaining! The entire story had me on the edge with just enough excitement, humor, angsty build up and uncertainty to keep me engaged from cover to cover.
I can’t freakin’ wait for book 2. Jessie and Ilsa seem like a perfect case of opposites attract.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book!! I absolutely LOVED The Wingmen Inc. series and wanted to get to know Ian’s sister that he talks about in Matchmakers Playbook. I wanted to know her story and what led her to create Liars Inc. and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed!! The prologue absolutely pulled me in!! Just how it starts out “This was not how I pictured my life going”, right away you know it’s going to be angsty. There was some angst but also lots of laughs. Rachel Van Dyken is really good at mixing angst, laughs, tender moments, & HEAT!!
Blair was such a good well rounded character that had strengths & flaws just like everyone else. She’s still heartbroken over her divorce and how it came about. She’s kind of in this what if mode, looking back at past relationships and seeing the one right before her marriage through rose colored glasses. Enter Jesse “the one who got away” and the twists soon begin which leads us into a bit of a love triangle. Not all the way since Jesse is Blair’s clients husband.
The twists come because people are keeping secrets and not communicating openly with each other. It leaves things up for interpretation on the other characters parts and leads them to assume things. It even left the reader guessing, trying to solve the puzzle and see how everyone is connected. I liked how I didn’t have it all figured out right away the way I usually do in most books. Rachel did such a great job drawing me in and making like almost all the characters. I can’t wait to get more from this series!
I love it when my favorite authors write a new series. Especially Rachel Van Dyken. Dirty Exes is the first book in the Liar’s, Inc. series. And I feel like I could write this review just using quotes from the book. I was highlighting like a mad woman, giggling, sighing, cursing, swooning and making side eyes. Dirty Exes has two leading men and one heroine, but it’s not really a love triangle. It’s not cheating like you think. Just read it, trust me. Blaire is Ian’s sister (swoon), and she and her best friend Isla, have both been cheated on and left broken, so they started a PI company called Dirty Exes. They catch cheating spouses. They are good at it. They feel happy when they help uncover the lying cheaters. Until their new client is Jessie Beckett. A man Blaire dated years ago. He was perfect for her. He’s the one who got away. She always wondered ‘what if’ and compared every man to Jessie. She can still do her job, right? Even though she has feelings for the supposed cheater? Yes, and no. But a sexy as hell bartender, aka Jessie’s best friend Colin, wants to help. There’s a long history of friendship, but Colin wants to actually help Jessie. Being attracted to and wanting Blaire more than air wasn’t in the cards. But he can’t stop himself. He and his sexy abs, sweet mouth, the hair, oh God, the hair, and perfect…everything are going to convince Blaire to take a chance on him. But Jessie. Blaire still thinks she wants him even though he might be cheating. What’s a girl to do? Take a chance on a new, fun, sexy man or try to see what she was missing with the old, sexy one? Jessie’s kisses were what dreams were made of. Would it still be that way? Not gonna lie, this story gave me anxiety! I wanted to know what was going to happen. Who was that? What did they say? She did what? There was so much juicy stuff I could barely contain my emotions! I had a favorite from the very beginning and I might have sqeeeeeeed at the end! Rachel knows what she’s doing guys. She’s never let us down before! Overall, I loved every word. Colin is just everything. Blaire is fun and hopeful. Isla is the perfect best friend and Jessie is funny, sexy and needs more laughs in his life! I can’t wait for Dangerous Exes!!
She’s the type who would stay, I’d want her to stay. Because women like that were the ones you kept forever.
His kiss was more of a plunder, a hunt for treasure, a search-and-rescue mission with his tongue that made me beg to get lost gain so I could have another taste.
His face was innocent, his body wicked. He was epitome of every woman’s fantasy. From his full, sinful lips to his rock-hard body.
“Blaire?”
“Yup?”
“Did you hear anything I just said? Should I give my ass and you a minute alone?”
YES! “No.”
I completely loved dirty Exes by Rachel Van Dyken.
Recently divorced Blaire and her friend Isla have a PI company, exposing cheaters live on Facebook. When a new client approaches Blaire to investigate her cheating husband the man just happens to be a blast from Blaire’s past an ex named Jessie. Never in Blaire’s wildest dreams did she think she would come face to face again with the start football player who broke her heart. It’s While trailing Jessie, Blaire almost blows her cover thank god for the hot tattooed bartender Colin who helps her cover…too bad he’s Jessie’s best friend and a total flirt. Torn between Jessie and Colin who will Blaire choose?
Dirty Exes is a fun and entertaining read, that you will not be able to put down. Lovable characters, and an excellent story line that brings on all the feels. I cannot wait for more from these amazing characters!
I really enjoyed everything about Dirty Exes! I haven’t read many of RVD’s book but I need to change that ASAP!
Blaire and her friend, Isla, are the Dirty Exes who catch cheaters in the act. They were recently hired on to catch a guy cheating on his wife and it just so happens Blaire knows him very well. In fact, he’s the one that got away, Jessie. But while spying on Jessie, she meets Colin, who happens to be Jessie’s best friend. And this is where the story took such a crazy, yet perfect, turn!
Dirty Exes has a little piece of everything all in one..there was romance, friendship, lies, laughs, betrayal, cheaters and love. Blaire, Jessie, Colin and Isla were all excellent characters, even though I felt at the beginning there was one I “shouldn’t” like…he quickly became my favorite. Dirty Exes was a fun yet drama filled story that I enjoyed! I look forward to the next book, Dangerous Exes!
With every new RVD book I think it can’t get better and then it does. Dirty Exes is the first book in a new series, which is a baby spinoff of the Matchmakers series. Blaire is Ian Hunter’s sister and she works with her friend Isla to catch cheating spouses in the act. Unfortunately for her, the guy she never got over is her next client’s husband and her new target. Jessie is a former NFK star, just trying to live his life when a blast from the past walks in and throws everything off. Now enter Jessie’s best friend, Colin. He meets a girl in a bar and sparks fly. It’s Blaire.
I really really this book. It had elements of a love triangle without being an obvious and over dramatic love triangle, and the backstory was so good. I loved the appearance of Ian and getting to see his relationship with his sister, and I really both Jessie and Colin. Colin is so Swoon worthy Definitely 5 read for me
4.5 She Was Mine Stars!
The Dirty Exes is the first book in the Liars, Inc. series, and it centers around Blaire who is the sister of Ian Hunter from The Matchmaker’s Playbook. Blaire lives in LA, and doesn’t have the best track record with men. She met a gorgeous guy named Jessie Beckett who she dated for three weeks before it all ended. He was traded to Pittsburgh to play football, and chose his career over her. Then she rebounded into a marriage that ended in disaster. The only good thing to come out of all her man troubles was meeting her best friend and business partner Isla. They bonded over both being women scorned and started Dirty Exes Private Investigators where they make it their mission to serve justice to cheaters. They get proof for their high profile clients.
Blaire is stunned when she learns her latest job is to uncover dirt on her ex Jessie Beckett. He’s the one guy she compares all others to. Her game changer. She thought she’d once been in love with him, and he was the most delicious man she’d ever met. He’d become the fantasy of her perfect man, and suddenly that image is shattered when she suspects he could be a cheater.
Jessie is a retired NFL quarterback going through some personal stuff in the public eye when he runs into a blast from the past. His love life was a mess, but he couldn’t help the feelings he still felt at the sight of Blaire.
As Blaire is doing her job to expose Jessie she meets his best friend Colin. She’s never reacted so strongly to a stranger. He’s a distraction she doesn’t need, but she can’t help being drawn to him. He’s got a man bun, tattoos, and looks a bit like Tarzan. He complicates everything when she finds herself stuck between wanting the one that got away, and his playboy best friend.
Both men want Blaire, and become jealous of the other. One looks like the all american good guy, and one the typical bad boy. Blaire battles her feelings with her insecurities, and doing what’s right. One man wants a date with the only woman to hold his attention, and the other wants a second chance. Blaire wants one of them more than she’s ever wanted anything in her life, & she can’t walk away. They give in to desire and the connection between them, but will Blaire get her heart broken, or finally find lasting love?
I really loved this book! It was my first by Rachel Van Dyken, and I couldn’t put it down. It’s about an attractive, independent, successful woman who risks her heart for the most beautiful love, and learns to trust again. This book is a love triangle, but not the kind that tears you up inside. I adored both of these wonderful men, but was thrilled with the outcome. The story has many twists and turns, tons of humor, and plenty of heat. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, and more by this amazing author!
This was a fun read with some angst and a bit of drama. It’s got the love triangle feel to it which I’m not a fan of, thus some of the angst on my part. However, I’ve read other love triangles by this author and they are pretty easy to work through unless you like a really deep, deep love triangle. I actually loved the way this one worked itself out. This has the typical Van Dyken humor which was perfect and characters that I fell in love with and curious to see what’s going to happen next with them.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have yet to read a Rachel Van Dyken book I didn’t enjoy but this one was another hit for me. Blair was a woman who turned being scorned into a successful business. While I didn’t always think she made the best choices I still feel like I understood her. Overall, Dirty Exs was sexy and fun with engaging dialogue and a unique story that was a blast to read. Can’t wait for more from this new series.
This was my first read from Rachel Van Dyken and I loved it. What is better than two kick-butt women P.I.s taking down cheaters? I loved that Blaire was normal, a little clumsy, and at times, messy. It made her relatable…other than that fact that she was around NFLers and billionaires. That’s normal, right? There is tons of drama and sexy times, too. This was a fun read. I want more!
Another great read by Rachel Van Dyken. A story you’ll really enjoy. It’ll keep you guessing throughout most of the book, as well as laugh and swoon. I loved All the characters and I’m hoping for more. I highly recommend this book.
I love all things RVD so when I was having trouble getting into Dirty Exes, I started getting nervous that I wasn’t going to like this book. I shouldn’t have worried though because this book ended up being great!
I’m not usually a fan of love triangles and I think that’s why I was struggling to get into this but I loved how the story played out and the introduction to this series. One of the things that kept this from being a 5 star for me was that Blair came off more NA than a 35-year-old and while I haven’t finished reading the Matchmaker’s Playbook yet, some of the things about Blair in her brother Ian’s book were not consistent. I did end up loving these characters and I can’t wait to see what happens in Dangerous Exes!!
Dirty Exes is the feel good vindication everyone needs. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been cheated on or not! Sticking it to the bad guy is fun! Unless he isn’t the bad guy…
No matter what these women get their…perp. Criminal. Philanderer. Douchebag. I love the premise because it’s fun. I loved the story because….it’s fun. But I loved the tie into other books via certain characters more! I love the connections. I love the reminders of stories not yet finished or past situations. It causes an extra bond to the book and story. So of course of was a squealing preteen when I realized who Colin was- I was slowest forming that link.
Dirty Exes is the fun and flirty book you need now! And it’s even better because I saw a book two is pending (wiggles eyebrows)!!
This was a great and light, but definitely steamy romance read. I enjoyed this book a lot and had a few laughs along the way. I definitely enjoyed Blaire, Isla, Colin, Jessie and Ian’s characters. I wished Ian had more of a role in this book because I enjoyed the conversations between him and Blaire. I felt their brother and sister bond. I disliked Vanessa, Jason and Olivia from the very beginning but those three got what they deserved in the end. Blaire and Jessie had spent time together in the past, but I was glad that she chose to be with the one person I wanted her with. I was definitely rooting for them because the chemistry, attraction and banter between them was everything and I felt their connection and it was everything. Jessie was a nice character and let Vanessa get away with entirely too much; being nice to someone is not always the best thing and he learned the hard way. I absolutely loved Isla, she was a trip and I hope she gets her story with who I thought was a good fit for her. This was a great read that will leave you with a smile on your face and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
