They’re serving up some red-hot revenge. A sizzling series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken.Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a … divorce him less than a year later?
Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.
Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price.
Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

But she’s supposed to be attracted to Jessie – the one man from her past that could actually kiss. Until she met Colin. You’ll laugh. You’ll yell. And you will fall in love with these characters.
This was well written. I got annoyed with the heroine’s wishy-washy back and forth between the 2 guys but luckily it didn’t last long.
I really wanted to love this book. I tried. I am a big lover of this author and she writes some pretty great books, but this one just didn’t do it for me. Not to mention I felt too much like Fraternize, which I loved and is a much better version of this book. It was done so well.
So lets down to the nitty gritty.
From the very beginning of this book I disliked Blair. Why do you ask? Because she is your typical woman scorned after she walks in on her husband cheating on her with her best friend and has no remorse. So what does she do, she starts a PI business exposing cheaters. Yea, Blair is a bitch. So of course she gets a new assignment and goes “undercover” to expose a new client when it turns up to be none other than a guy she dated in the past. He’s an ex-football player whom she dated for three friggin weeks and never got over, and who she blames for rushing into her marriage. So Blair is extra determined to find Jesse cheating, especially when he shows interests in her through text messages. He never kisses her by the way.
On top of all that Jesse’s best friend is hitting on Blair behind Jesse’s back. I thought it was a crappy thing for him to do especially when he knows the real deal behind their Jesse’s marriage. That was some messed up stuff. I was just annoyed with all the characters and the out of the blue attraction Jesse has for Isla at the end.
So I will again say that I wanted to like this book, but Blair was a completely unlikable person. Her determination to find fault with both Jesse and Colin was annoying. I don’t like that she made a career out of exposing cheaters. She finds out at the end that getting one side of the story for exposing people isn’t always what’s right. I mean she videotapes them in the act on Facebook Live. That’s some messed up stuff. I really wanted to love this book, but I couldn’t get past those things. The writing is still amazing and the story is really funny. I just have a few hangups.
The audiobook narration is phenomenal. The female narrator was TOP NOTCH! They did a great job of bringing the characters to life.
As with any Rachel Van Dyken novel, I loved everything about it. The chemistry, the personalities, the angst. Blaire’s Story has it all and with Jesse and Colin being such great guys, I was torn between who I wanted her to end up with…but I loved how it all turned out!
Dirty Exes by Rachel Van Dyken is the first book in her latest series, Liars, Inc., . A spin-off set in the same world as her Wingmen, Inc., series, this is the story of two scorned women who have taken the dregs they were dealt in their past relationships and turned into a goldmine business that specializes in proving (or dis-proving) the infidelity of a loved one. The two creators Isla and Blaire are bombshell, take no crap women.
Blaire has a new target. Find proof of his infidelity and/or see if he will cheat by being the “bait”. Problem is, the target is her ex and the one who got away and she isn’t ready to blur the line between her obligations for her client and her desires to possibly rekindle what they had before he was traded to another team. Oh, did I not mention, he is retired NFL star quarterback Jessie Beckett and ridiculously hot to boot. Using all the weapons in her arsenal she ends up relying on his best friend Colin to get her out of more than one sticky situation. If it wasn’t for the creepy snake tattoo on Colin’s arm he’d be even hotter than Jessie.
Quirky, well-written, well-paced, angsty and emotional and sexy. Loved it – RVD is one of my must-read authors and this book did NOT disappoint. Enjoy!
Another fun book by Rachel Van Dyken. This is the second book in the Liars, Inc series. I started with this book and now need to go read Dirty Exes. This is a stand alone and I can attest that you do not have to read the first book to follow the story. This is the story of Jessie and Isla and how they are trying to save their reputations based on the fall out from Dirty Exes. It was sweet and funny and I loved Isla’s crazy aunt. This book reminded me of the Wingman Inc series- so if you enjoyed those, you will like this book.
Blair and her best friend, Isla have a formed a company called Dirty Exes to catch cheaters in the act. Both have been burned in the past and felt the need to help others in similar situations. What turns a satisfying job meant to help others into one comical mess after another is when their next client is the wife of Blair’s ex-boyfriend.
Rachel Van Dyken brought us another fun and entertaining read! This story was a riot! I loved every shenanigan Blair got her self into. Colin completely stole the show for me. He was a total player but so charming that I didn’t even care. Jesse was a hot mess and I wanted him to grow some kahunas. Isla was just as entertaining as Blair. Vanessa, oh Vanessa. For the evil villian of the story she sure did a great job. I wanted to punch her.
I’m really looking forward to Isla’s book next. I can already tell it will be just as entertaining.
Rachel Van Dyken does it again. She pulled me in and didn’t let go. I devoured this book. And that’s coming from someone who has been in a serious book funk.
I downloaded this in KU because it also gave the audio option. And I love all the things Teddy Hamilton gets his voice on, so I knew this would be a win.
But when I wasn’t able to listen, I still sat down, kindle on, reading the words on the pages. It may have been Teddy who lured me in, but it was this crazy world RVD built that left me with the inability to put the book down.
Two days.
I would have been finished sooner, but life and work got in my way. And I love sleep about as much as I love books.
So, I just fell head over heels in love with Blaire and Colin and Jessie and Isla. Head. Over. Heels.
Isla and Blaire are besties who started a business designed to take down cheating exes.
When they land a larger than life client, they know they have to be perfect in this job.
But when the past barrels face-first into Blaire, she’s left stunned and in a bit of a whirlwind.
He’s the one that got away, but what if she finds herself falling for someone else? What happens then?
And Colin, oh, Colin. I love that man with the man bun and the snake tattoo. He’s freaking hilarious and I want one for myself. PLEASE?!
I didn’t want the story to end. Lucky for me–and you–RVD carries on in Dangerous Exes where you find out what happens to a few of the other characters.
Dirty Ex’s by Rachel Van Dyken a five-star read that will make you wonder. This is the first read in the Liars, inc. series and it kicks off with a bang. Blooming hell doesn’t it, how would you choose between the one that got away and his best friend, Blaire faces a quandary and I was spinning back and forth between the two for most of the story, I wanted one, then the other, then I just got greedy and wanted both. But without giving the game away I’m glad that she made the right decision in the end. Dirty Ex’s is a great idea and I would be happily signing up for those live videos!! This was comedic in places and serious in others and had just the right amount of both in great quantities t make this a great read. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next instalment in the series Dangerous Ex’s.
Fun, unpredictable, sexy, truly a wonderful surprise. Blaire and Isla have been cheated on so they start a PI business to help others prove that their significant other is a cheater. Blaire never expects their next assignment to be Jessie, the boyfriend who just left her to pursue his football career and crushed her heart. All others have had to live up to what Jessie broke. In a hilarious situation, she meets Colin, Jessie’s best friend. The craziness that follows as Blaire works the case and Colin works to get closer to Blaire was laugh out loud fun. Isla and Blaire are a great team and have tackled a lot together following their heart breaks. Jessie, oh boy, he works so hard to be that perfect image which created this dysfunctional relationship with Vanessa. Colin and Blaire had this fabulous chemistry, each pushing the other’s buttons but Blaire doesn’t make it easy on Colin which was a fun ride to take. Excited for Isla’s story!
I read a reader copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to write a review. This was the first book in the Liars Series. Blaire is co owner of a PI Firm “Dirty Exes” that specializes in exposing Cheaters. Things get a little complicated when her newest case is an old boyfriend, the one that got away. His best friend Colin agrees to help her investigate and before she knows it she finds herself attracted to both men. No spoiler here, but this is a great book with lots of funny scenes. The characters are well developed and likable and the story is very entertaining. You will love this book.
Dirty Exes is the first book in the Liars, Inc. series which is actually a spinoff from The Matchmaker’s Playbook. This is Blaire’s story (Ian’s sister). I have not read The Matchmaker’s Playbook and had no issues following the story. With that being said….
I loved this book! It was funny and sexy with a side of drama! The prologue was hilarious! Blaire and Isla have been hurt by their cheating exes. They turn lemons into lemonade by starting Dirty Exes, a PI firm that goes after cheaters. They gather evidence and often times post it to Facebook live, humiliating the cheater. Although they are successful, they have anger and trust issues because they were cheated on.
“I was so focused on retribution, on not focusing on the past, that I was barely staying sane.”
Things get interesting when they are hired by Veronica Beckett. She is married to ex-NFL player Jessie Beckett, Blaire’s first love. Jessie broke Blaire’s heart when he was traded by the NFL. He never asked her to come along. Brokenhearted, Blaire married a “safe” guy, who cheated on her. Blaire insists she can be professional and handle the situation with Jessie as a client. Jessie’s best friend, Colin, is an added piece of the puzzle, and nothing is what it seems! Is he friend or foe?
Rachel Van Dyken takes us on a wild ride! Husband’s, best friends, wives….cheater or not? The story takes a few turns that I did not expect. Perception versus reality. Fake versus real. Some really funny situations and some hot sexy time as well! There is also lots of banter between all of the characters. I was very surprised by the outcome.
“Let me make it up to you.”
“Sex won’t make this better.”
“Sex always makes things better, especially angry sex where I let you slap me.” He grinned.
“It was hard not to smile.”
Next up…. Isla. Will Blaire’s tough-as-nails partner be able to move forward…..
4.5 stars
I loved loved this book!!! It was so good. Blaire walked in on her husband and best friend and since then she doesn’t trust easily at all. She starts a business revealing cheaters for their spouses. But deep down she wants the true love. The guy that she can trust. She wonders what would have happened if Jessie didn’t leave her for his career. But what she doesn’t even expect is the best friend of his that could break down her walls and make her fall hard and fast.
Another Great Read from Rachel! Dirty Exes was exciting and hilarious! I loved the characters and the unexpected romance! My heart melted and weeped for these characters! I finished this is one sitting I just couldn’t put my kindle down! I don’t want to give anything away but I will say I’m so happy with how this story played out! You will not be disappointed!!
Let me just start with that this book was NOTHING that I expected it to be. There was just a lot going on and soooooo much shade being thrown around. After reading some of the reviews, I gotta say that I definitely enjoyed this one. I was expecting a second chance romance, which I absolutely love, but that as you delve more into the story, you learn that, that’s not the case at all. It had elements of a love triangle, but it wasn’t really that either. I have a feeling writing this review may come across very confusing because writing this without any spoilers seems impossible, but I’ll do my best.
Guess what, everyone? Ian has a sister, for all you The Matchmaker’s Playbook fans out there. And her name is Blaire and one of the owners to Liars, Inc. , where their job is to catch cheaters in the act and reveal them, publicly … on the dreaded Facebook. This kind of business is not my cup of tea, but to each their own. Looking at their potential clients, one she wasn’t expecting was her ex, now retired NFL player, the one that walked away without a second glance. The past comes storming back into her life bringing back all her insecurities and “what ifs”. As she starts her “work”, stumbling into his best friend, Colin, was something that she could definitely use to her advantage in more ways than one 😉 And he seems to be more than willing, I guess anything to stay in the presence of Blaire. Blaire has lost love to a man who loved football more and another to her best friend. Trust doesn’t come to her easily, so who will be the one to gain it, completely?
And that about sums up this book as lightly as possible and I’m sure you’re wondering if this is a love triangle. There were moments when I thought it was, but sorta is-ish? Shoot, even I’m a bit unsure. As far as other love triangle books go, this one is nothing like it.
Trusting men is something that Blaire struggles with a lot. With the ex who left to pursue his dream without a second thought and a cheating ex, can you blame her? To me, this book was truly about Blaire and getting over what she’s been through in the past with her exes and discovering and diving into something new with someone else, Colin. Having to spy on Jessie (the ex/football player) really opened her eyes to his true self, parts of himself he rarely shows anyone. Jessie wasn’t exactly my favorite person in this story, it’s evident that once they see each other for the first time in years, it brings back a lot of things. And they can’t help, but wonder. But I didn’t hate Jessie, at least by the end I didn’t, he really just married the wrong person for the wrong reasons and found himself in a really unhappy place. He’s a people pleaser, making sure everyone else was happy except himself. Now he wants a divorce because the woman he married has turned into someone he no longer loves.
And we have Colin, the man you’ll all adore! Once he met Blaire, it was game over and he’d do anything to spend time with her. Even teaming up with her as she tries to bust his friend for possibly cheating. Their little duo was the best and I loved their banter, it was hilarious. And you’ll just be rooting for this duo from the very beginning. But Colin has some vulnerabilities of his own, he found love once and was never able to pursue another relationship since. But there was something about Blaire that wanted him to possibly try again.
So, we’ve got three characters weaving an unbelievably tangled web, I’m sure you can figure out how complicated this all seems. But I loved every bit of this story and the whole time I was just curious to see how it was going to end. There’s definitely a happy ever after, maybe a little betrayal, thoughts going astray into territories that it should never go, and some punches were thrown. See, like I said, a tad bit messy and complicated, but still such a fun and sweet read in the end.
This was definitely some way to write a story, Rachel and I loved it very much. It’s pretty easy to guess who the next book will be about and I’m eagerly waiting for it! I’ve been seeing a lot of things about the fact that Blaire fell in love so quickly when she was dating Jessie. I make no judgments on how long it takes to fall in love with someone. I found my happily ever after in such a short time as well, so all I have to say is that you never know.
Brava, Rachel!
Dirty Exes is one sexy and sweet romance.
Blaire hasn’t had that much luck in love. It’s pretty much unfortunate. But then someone comes back into her life, that she never expected. But that is not where the story will go.. But I’m not going to say what happens. So you’ll just have to read the book.
Dirty Exes is really enjoyable. It has the romance, it has its funny moments and the oh so sexy ones. Which, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Rachel. I’ve always enjoyed her stories, just the way she’s able to write these characters and being able to connect with them, on a personal level.
Overall, I give this Four Boundless Stars.
*5 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book. This has been my typical experience with RVD books so far, even though I haven’t read too many as yet.
Dirty Exes was just so much fun. It has got some heavy undertones, but for me this book was more fun than anything. I wanted that happy ending, and I wanted it with the one particular guy out of the two choices that Blaire has.
I loved all the characters, apart from the ones we aren’t supposed to like. Colin is just a ball of fun but a great guy underneath, Jessie is intense and needs to work back to being himself, Blaire is a woman on a mission but just needs to believe in herself again and have some fun, and Isla is an awesome best friend and quite fun as well when you get down to that layer. The four of them make for an entertaining novel that I sped through really quickly.
I really look forward to the next book in this series, can October please hurry up?
Revenge is best served hot and dirty. Dirty Exes is the start of something fabulous. Van Dyken takes her smokin’ style to satire. Blaire knows how to heal a broken heart. Don’t get mad. Get even. She makes her living exposing lies. What happens when the biggest lie is the one she’s told herself? The keeper of secrets is about to be exposed and it could be the best thing that ever happened to her. The thrill of the chase is only half of the fun.
I totally enjoyed this book. Laughed and cried a bit but the characters and story are awesome!!!

RVD has done it again, she has brought us another series to be hooked on with characters that intrigue us and entice us into their worlds.
I loved the idea of this book, these scorned women starting up their own PI company to expose cheating spouses. Blaire had been in stiches with her #spygirl antics.
This book has me laughing out loud with the situations Blaire ended up in and the banter between her and Colin was so amusing to watch.
Even though there was a bit of a love triangle I have to say I was #TeamColin from the beginning even though Jessie was really sweet. Saying that I would have loved to be stuck in the middle between these hot AF men.
I cannot not wait for the next book in this series as I can only imagine the hilarious antics that are going to occur
