We grew up hating each other. Now we’re roommates for the summer…ALYIt’s been twelve years since I’ve seen him, but loathing Emmett Hoult still runs in my blood. Thanks to the hell he wreaked on my teenaged life, I’ve avoided the prick like the plague. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and after a fire destroys my apartment during the most important week of my life, I’m suddenly … important week of my life, I’m suddenly as desperate as they come.
Hence the roommate situation.
It’s his summer home. His family said he wouldn’t be around. They said I’d never run into him.
But oh, did I run into Emmett Hoult.
And in the worst way possible.
EMMETT
I didn’t expect to see her ever again, let alone the way that I did.
But now that she’s back in my life, I’m not screwing things up. She still hates me — I know that — but it won’t stop me from chasing the only two goals I’ve made for this summer.
Making things right.
And making her mine.

Loved!
This book is everything you want a good romance to be. Great writing. Real characters that show strength, struggles, perserverance and emotions. The storyline is engaging with a twist I didn’t see coming. The dialogue and characters interactions are sharp and relevant.
This story ran around in my head and heart that I became consumed with it. I needed to know everything about Emmett and Aly. Their relationship is complex and you don’t realize it until their secrets are exposed. It is a gripping love story that spans decades but, is as delicate as a house of cards.
Flip! Seriously loved this book. Read it in one day because I couldn’t put it down. It was funny, angsty, and hot AF!!!
“When the world looked at Emmett, they saw confident, devilish, sexy. I saw cocky, spoiled, arrogant. Your typical all-American jock.”
Aly Stanton hasn’t seen Emmett Hoult in twelve years, following an epic falling out between them in junior year, which changed the course of her life. Growing up, they were constantly thrown together because their families were close, but he made her life unbearably miserable. When her living circumstances force her to move into his empty house in the Hamptons, she does so, safe in the knowledge that he’s away all summer.
“Aly was back in my life and I was already hooked on her again…since losing her the first time was hard enough, there was no way in hell I was letting it happen again.”
Emmett Hoult has led a gilded life. Things have always come easily to him – women, money, success, adulation. When he meets a beautiful, incredibly sexy stranger in a club, one night, the chemistry between is scorching! However, when he realises that it’s his childhood frenemy, he’s determined not to let her disappear from his life again, even though her intentions are the complete opposite.
“Loving you is the oldest memory I have.”
I adored this novel! I loved the way the story unfolded and we get clues here and there about the past history between Emmett and Aly. Told from dual POVs, we get their different perspectives on how things were and how they viewed one another. We see Aly’s childhood misery and her pain, but we also see what a smart, successful, confident woman she has grown into. We see Emmett’s fondness for Aly and how much he cherished their childhood connection – so different from Aly’s perspective.
The sexual connection between them was tangible and so freakin’ hot! Their flirty dialogue was amusing and so diiiirrrrty! LOL. I loved how their truths and secrets were gradually revealed and how they both had suffered in the past. Their connection was amazing and borne out of their childhood history, as well as their adult chemistry.
This was my first read by this author. She has a fabulous writing style full of great dialogue, deep and credible characters, and super sexy scenes that has me definitely coming back for more.
Dirty Deeds is a second chance romance revolving around two characters that grew up together as rivals and friends, Emmett and Aly. They have a falling out in high school that leads to them not seeing each other for a decade. When the book opens, we find out that Aly’s apartment has been destroyed in a fire. Since their families are still friends, Emmett’s mom offers his Hampton’s house to her as a housing solution for the summer. He’s supposed to be away during that time, and as much as Aly would rather not do it, she doesn’t have any other options.
Aly has trouble sleeping, and only two things fix the problem, dancing and sex. Her best friend and business partner, Evie, makes her come out for a night of both. She humors her, but doesn’t intend on hooking up with anyone until she runs into a guy so hot she can’t say no. It’s not until they go back to his house/her temporary one that she realizes she is moments away from sleeping with her childhood nemesis, Emmett Hoult.
Aly immediately regrets everything that happened, but she still needs a place to stay. Emmett insists she doesn’t have to leave, and that they can live together for the summer and keep it totally platonic. I don’t have to tell you that things don’t exactly work out that way.
I’ve loved every book I’ve ever read by Stella Rhys, and this one was no exception! The writing is phenomenal, and I was drawn into the story immediately. There was never a time when I wanted to put it down. The characters are lovable, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. You can literally feel the connection between them.
The steamy scenes had to be my absolute favorite part though. I’m telling you, this woman writes steam like no other. I can’t even adequately explain how amazing she is at it. Her makeout scenes are hotter than some full on sex scenes I’ve read. I’m not exaggerating in any way. She should teach a fucking class or something! Just the banter between Emmett and Aly will have you fanning yourself!
Before I conclude my review, I want to say a little something about the hero. Ladies, Emmett’s definite book boyfriend material! He’s selfless, caring, driven, sweet, protective, hot, loyal, charming, and well endowed. What more could a girl ask for? Did I mention he’s a family man, too? Seeing him get excited over his sister in law’s pregancy was so fucking adorable that I wanted to reach in the book and squeeze him to death. As sweet as he is, he can be dirty, too. It’s a perfect ovary exploding combination!
If you’ve read any of this author’s work and enjoyed it, don’t hesitate to pick up this one! If you haven’t read anything by Stella Rhys, rectify that immediately! She is one of my unicorn authors. When I pick up one of her books, I know without a shadow of doubt that I’m going to love it. Give her a try, and I’m sure you’ll be singing her praises, too.
I recommend Dirty Deeds to any fan of contemporary romance!

(Dual POVs)
*Contains Spoilers* All I can really say is, I didn’t connect with this book. I can understand Aly hating Emmett growing up for many reasons including: her father idolized Emmett and bad mouthed her; Emmett was the popular jock, while everyone ignored her or only wanted to be around her to get to know Emmett; Emmett slept with all of her friends; and she blames Emmett for tattling on her affair with her 35 year old teacher, which gets her sent to boarding school. Emmett and Aly meet again twelve years later at a club, but don’t immediately recognize each other. When they discover each other’s identities, they agree to live platonically in the same house for the summer. I expected more angst, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of hatred or animosity while living together.
I loved the scene where Aly’s phone is still accidentally connected to the tv, and Emmett gets a glimpse of what she’s watching. One thing I really appreciated, Emmett is probably one of the best bedroom talkers I’ve ever come across.
Favorite quotes:
“Loving you is the oldest memory I have,” -Emmett
”At this point, I’m pretty sure I have everything I need to be happy,” I said, blushing a little as I looked up to meet his eye.
“I’m pretty sure I do too,” he said, holding his gaze. “Actually, I know that I do,” he corrected himself. “And I know that if you ever so much as think you’re missing something, I’ll find it for you,” -Aly & Emmett
I really enjoyed this story. The plot was interesting. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout and kept my interest. Emmett was well-developed and easily relatable. I loved his transformation throughout the story. Aly got on my nerves quite a bit throughout the book and I felt she needed some more development. She seemed really immature for her age especially during one part of the book ( I won’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil it). I mean I understand where she is coming from; however, she still met her objective by doing things on her own.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of this book….
Dirty Deeds is the story of Emmett and Aly who were childhood friends and then enemies. Most of Aly’s life was spent trying to one up Emmett and get the attention from family and friends that she so desperately needed. Unfortunately, she could just not compare to good old Emmett. When the bottom falls out of their relationship, Aly and Emmett go their separate ways.
Years later, Aly and Emmett are back together and their chemistry is undeniable. While Aly tries her best to ignore it, Emmett is bound and determined to not let her slip away again and does everything in his power to show Aly what truly could be.
Both characters have so many issues that come to light throughout the story that their happily ever after could potentially be destroyed. Forever.
I truly enjoyed each and every minute of this book. There are so many factors in play in Aly and Emmett’s relationship, you wonder if they can ever get past it all. The characters were fun and sexy. Their banter was excellent and the chemistry between them was so very hot. All of the characters are well developed and the plot line kept me reading from start to finish. With each Stella Rhys book I read, I become more of a fan!
This story is a new to me author, but if all of her books are this hot, I’m gonna have to go look to see what else she has published.
This books just goes to prove, that enemies make the best lovers. Throughout most of the story, Aly hates Emmett, stemming from high school days. But she also can’t ignore the scorching hot chemistry between the two. Emmett is determined to act on the feelings he has for Aly, get their old friendship back on track, and move on from there. Aly is just as determined to ignore it all and hold up her walls. Both characters have hidden issues at play, that aren’t revealed until later in the book, that threaten to destroy what could be.
Emmett is the strong, suffer in silence type. You don’t know just how strong he is until the story is almost over, but you can tell that he is hiding something. He definitely knows what he wants with Aly, and is determined to get it, no matter what it takes. I love how he makes sure Aly is taken care of and always treats her like she is precious to him.
Aly is a woman that, as an adult, is determined to make her dreams come true, regardless of how much hard work it will take. However she can’t seem to catch a break. She feels like Emmett is the cause of all of her problems, and convinces herself that she can’t give in to the feelings that she has. Her stubborn nature has her holding on to perceived slights from child hood.
This book was well written, had well developed characters, and an intriguing plot line. I enjoyed the non stop banter between the characters, and spent much of the book laughing at their antics. You never know what is going to come out of their mouths. One of the side characters particularly caught my attention, and I can’t help but hope he gets his own story told! This rom com is funny, steamy, and angsty as only a story that stems from issues relating to the high school years can be. Totally a recommended read!
