Abigail Haddock is stunning, sensible, and some would say…stuffy. But it’s not really her fault. She was raised in one of Wessco’s oldest, most affluent, aristocratic families—“stuffy” is their middle name. So is successful. Abby’s working overtime to distinguish herself as a top-notch physician, just as her family legacy demands.
She doesn’t have time for nonsense.
Tommy Sullivan’s all about … Sullivan’s all about nonsense.
Sure, he’s an elite bodyguard with lethal skills and co-owner of the renowned, S&S Securities Firm—protector of the wealthy and titled. But he’s also rowdy, fun and thoroughly irresistible.
Tommy knows how to have a good time, and he’s never seen someone more in need of a good time than Abby. The lass needs long, wet, filthy kisses—STAT—and he’s just the man for the job.
It doesn’t take long for a wildly sexy, sinfully satisfying, no-strings attached arrangement to turn into something more. Something sweet and addictive and real. But Tommy and Abby are too royally stubborn to admit it.
Opposites attract, everyone knows that. But can their red-hot relationship last—can they love…for forever?

I needed something light and funny and hot and sexy and Emma Chase delivered.
I don’t think I’ve read an Emma Chase book since the Tangled series so I’m a bit behind, but I’m glad I picked up this audio book which happens to be the first in a new series of standalones. I’ve heard that our hero Tommy was a bodyguard in a past book of hers, but you absolutely do not need to read those book to fully appreciate this one.
This is a story of opposites attract and how they can totally work.
Tommy is a bit of a brute, rough on the edges bodyguard. He’s a man man and total blue collar type of bloke. Abigail is prim and proper, is focused and is studying to become a surgeon. But not just A surgeon; she wants to be THE BEST. She seems a bit cold and maybe a bit too focused. But when a colleague suggests she takes something up to relieve some of her pressure, Tommy knows just the thing.
Their relationship may start as some sort of deal, but it blossoms. Tommy and his antics definitely had me laughing. I laughed out loud a couple of times and enjoyed his personality. He’s funny and just doesn’t care. He knows what he wants and how to get it and I find that sexy and refreshing.
Abby was a bit difficult to get on board with, but when she’s with Tommy, they just work and I loved them. Her stuffiness died down with Tommy, but I liked that he loved that she was a strong and intelligent woman. She never intimidated him and he supported her success.
I listened to this book and thought the narrators absolutely nailed their characters. I wondered if I’d enjoy the book as much if it wasn’t for them. I’m sure I would have, but I have to give it up to Andi Arndt who totally became Abigail. The tone in which she delivered her lines was totally Abby 100%. And Rupert Channing as Tommy was perfection. He was funny and a guy that I would want to have by my side. Loved their performances.
SO, if you’re looking for a fun and enjoyable and sexy read, you’ve got it. These two don’t always have it easy, but when they are together, it’s so much fun. Opposites truly do attract and sometimes, they just may work!
Audio Review: Dirty Charmer (The Bodyguards #1) by Emma Chase, Narrated by Andi Arndt, Rupert Channing
Emma Chase is one of my favorite authors. Not because of her ability to tempt your socks off. Even though she’s quite good at that. My fascination lies in the unpredictability of the stories that she writes. Chase and company puts the moves on a heart before a reader can even realize that it’s happened. From funny and flirty to emotionally captivating, Dirty Charmer leaves a mark on more than just your heart. Tommy and Abby are at their best when allowing their vulnerable side to shine through. The narration of Channing proves a delightful distraction from the hint of chaos that Arndt successfully draws emotions into.
I loved all the Royal Books of Emma Chase. It’s great to see Tommy’s story. This was a delightful opposite attract romance. Abby was determined to be a good surgeon but sometimes best laid plans need to be adjusted. Tommy was blunt honest and a dirty talker who says what he means and I liked that. He’s also fun to read. They had their work cut out for them to work but they made it happen.
Dirty Charmer is part of Emma Chase’s Royally World, and this is the first book in The Bodyguards Series. I haven’t listened to her Royally Series yet, but I will. I love Royal Romance! Abigail and Tommy are great together, and they share an undeniable chemistry. Their story is sweet and sexy. The supporting characters are great and intriguing. Andi Arndt and Rupert Channing did an amazing job with the narration. This was my first listen to Rupert Channing, and I love his voice! Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series.
Abigail Haddock is stunning, sensible, and some would say . . . stuffy. But it’s not really her fault. She was raised in one of Wessco’s oldest, most affluent, aristocratic families—“stuffy” is their middle name. She doesn’t have time for nonsense and Tommy Sullivan’s all about nonsense. I found this book a very sweet almost fairy tale romance, the characters were very sweet I just didn’t feel any chemistry between them unfortunately and I couldn’t connect with them. The story line was predictable but engaging all over this was a good read for a rainy day.
Emma Chase nails this witty and sexy standalone! Be sure to grab this now for a great escape for a few hours.
Sooooo nice to get back into Wessco world and with a bodyguard romance, which is exactly my cuppa… at the moment.
Dirty Charmer is exactly what Tommy is and he’s a force to be reckoned with.
I really enjoyed the opposites attract aspect to Tommy and Abby’s story. Plus, it’s always the best surprise when the playboy hero is brought down by someone they least expect.
Abby’s character development throughout the book was a fave! Routine is her life and growing up with specific expectations, that was what she always known. Rely on Tommy to break that mold for her in the best way possible.
Truly loved seeing some favorites again! If you’re looking for a sexy charmer that’s a bodyguard, you’ll definitely enjoy this opposites attract love story between Abby and Tommy.
Another great book from Ms. Emma Chase! As always, the world building is done well, the characters and dialogue is fantastic, and the romance is eleventy-seven kinds of hot. Tommy Sullivan might come across as the man you don’t take home to mama on the surface, but underneath he’s caring, sweet and definitely protective of those closest to him. And he’s got flirting and dirty talk down to the nth degree. Abby Haddock is trying to find the place where she feels like she’s not coming in last place in her family of extreme overachievers. She prides herself in being in control and not stepping out of her comfort zone, except for that one reaction to the kiss Tommy planted on her a few years prior. Now she’s flustered whenever he’s around, and due to the current security detail, he’s pretty much her shadow. There’s no doubt about the chemistry between them, and watching them slowly adapt to the change in their feelings for each other was fantastic.
Such a fun read for my very first Emma Chase book!
I’ve had Emma Chase on my TBR list for a very long time, and I finally decided to give her a try with Dirty Charmer. And what a well-written, fun story it turned out to be.
Tommy happens to be one of those kinds of heroes that you can’t get enough of. He’s all that and then some. And the more I read, the more I fell in love with him, despite his bad-boy persona. He and Abby are ideal for one another, yet they’ve got this opposites attract kind of thing going on. Two people from two different walks of life that compliment one another so well.
Having never read Emma before, I was blown away with how the story just sucked me in. And then to find out, there’s another series that Dirty Charmer spins from, sent me into a world of happiness. I can’t wait to go back and experience the first royal series, and get the full scoop on the characters that appeared in Dirty Charmer.
Such a laid back story with lots of emotions and swoon. So glad I decided to give this one a try!
Dirty Charmer
By: Emma Chase
Narrated by: Andi Arndt, Rupert Channing
If you are looking for a feel good romance, with a little angst, some humor and passion filled story, then Emma Chase is the author you are looking for! Dirty Charmer is the 5th book in her Royally series, but it stands alone and pushes all the right buttons! Abigail comes from royalty, is smart, beautiful and on the way to becoming a talented heart surgeon. When she is in need of security, Tommy Sullivan is assigned to her charge. It’s not the first time she has met this cocky, good looking, fiercely protective man. But their chemistry is something that cannot be denied. They do their best to stay away from each other, but circumstances and advice lead them to a no strings attached fling. We all know how those work out though. Or is he really the player he appears to be? This is a fun listen! Abby and Tommy are filled with passion, not only in bed, but their entire relationship. Witty banter and emotional onslaughts all show how much these two are able to care. We have the pleasure of meeting the families, enjoy their points of view but when it comes down to it, will these two ever fit in each other’s lives? Will coming from different classes of society may be the deciding factor? Will other women be the problem? Different goals in life? Give this a listen. I know I was shaking my head at times, frustrated and crazed by decisions and other times smiling like crazy. It’s fun and easy and a pleasure to listen to.
Andi Arndt and Rupert Channing bring it all to life. These seasoned performers know exactly how to play their characters and they nail each scene. Better choices could not have been made for this entertaining story.

I really love Emma Chase’s writing so I jumped at the chance to read Dirty Charmer which featured Tommy Sullivan, the fun-loving bodyguard who I loved from Royally Endowed.
I say this a lot so forgive me but I really love books that have a great hook in the beginning. The prologue for Dirty Charmer was fantastic setting up the cheeky Tommy with straight laced Abigail. Even after waking from a near death experience and suffering a concussion, Tommy shows his true colors – he’s one dirty, dirty talker and I LOVED IT!
I was ready to enjoy the banter between these two and Tommy didn’t disappoint in his needling and pursuit of Abigail.
That being said I felt like there wasn’t a lot of depth to the story and feel like there could have been more to make it a spectacular read. It had been WAY TOO LONG since Emma Chase published a new book so maybe my expectations were super high but I wanted more to the story. Maybe there could have been more cat vs mouse chase at the beginning in Tommy’s pursuit of her. Or, I would have liked a few more moments and conversations between them where you could see how their relationship began to move from strictly casual to where an emotional connection was forged.
This book was definitely well written and a good, opposites attract story but it could have had a lot more depth to it. That’s probably why this review is so short. I liked seeing how the families responded to their relationship but even that was few and far between. Tommy Sullivan is an awesome character who is super cheeky, super HOT and one heck of a bed partner. Abigail was great too but Tommy totally steals the show.
If you’re a fan of Emma Chase and dirty talkers, I’d definitely pick this one up and give it a go.

So stinky CUTE! Abigail came from royalty, raised in one of Wessco’s most affluent families. There are certain expectations that came with the title which cannot be ignored. Abby is gorgeous, sensible, accomplished doctor-in-training. She is motivated and focused on becoming the best surgeon. Relationship is absolutely not in the card much less with the sexy, dirty mouth bodyguard Tommy. The first time they met? What a classic characteristic of the hero (he was supposedly in a dreamland and accidently kiss the young doctor :)) LOL, I love Tommy – so opposite of proper. He has such a dirty mouth and an even dirtier mind but I adore his personality – charming, protective and caring nature. Abby and Tommy relationship as full of hurdles for reason of different social class (Grandmother definitely does not approved) but true love prevailed. The sizzling chemistry is off the chart – huge case of opposites attract and they balanced each other perfectly. Tommy is so patience and he helped Abby realized that she can have both a career and romance. I like the hilarious banters that had me LOL like a looney. Over all, Dirty Charmer is a heartwarming, angsty, sexy, passionate love story. Delightful read!
I really enjoyed Emma Chase’s “Dirty Charmer,” the funny, sweet, passionate story of two people from vastly different backgrounds who fall in love against all odds. The male lead character, bodyguard Tommy Sullivan, seemed a bit rough around the edges at first, but he was undoubtedly a good guy. I loved how caring and protective he was of his love interest, Dr. Abby Haddock, as well as the way he looked out for his family and friends. As for Abby, she seemed very reserved at first, as well as intensely focused on her career. She and Tommy started seeing each other primarily because she needed to find a way to relax outside of work, but their casual relationship soon grew into much more than just a no-strings attached affair.
Both Tommy and Abby were likeable, well-developed main characters, and I found their relationship development to be nicely paced. It was a bit difficult for me not to get annoyed with Abby’s behavior at times, however. I really felt for her because of her complicated family situation and because she had been hurt by men in the past, so I can understand why she may have been afraid to trust Tommy and the strength of their relationship. That said, it drives me crazy when couples fail to communicate, and that’s essentially what happened here because Abby chose to keep secrets from Tommy, which led to them breaking up for several months. They managed to patch things up, but Abby later completely (and irrationally) overreacted and blamed Tommy for something that didn’t even happen and wouldn’t have been solely his fault anyway. I think Abby’s fear drove her to keep finding ways to sabotage the relationship, and I just wanted to hug her and tell her everything was going to be OK so that she would stop torturing poor Tommy!
These were relatively minor annoyances, however, and I genuinely did like Tommy and Abby as a couple. I would recommend this book for all fans of contemporary romance and look forward to whatever Emma Chase writes next.

I absolutely loved reading Emma Chase. I love her writing, her characters and her stories. In Dirty Charmer we go back to the Royally series in this standalone about opposites and letting go. Abigail is as straitlaced as they come. She is smart and determined. Tommy is an easy-going guy who loves to have fun. They are as different as night and day, but they are drawn to each other. Tommy opens Abby up to new things and their chemistry was off the charts. I just loved watching these two together. Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase was such a fun, sweet and charming read.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This was such an easy read! Hot and steamy, with lots of cute charming moments – the book title really fits the story to a t! Tommy is a guy who certainly knows how to treat a lady. He is dedicated to his job, he loves his family and is generally warm and kind-hearted. Abigail comes from royalty. She has her issues, but is a smart hard-working woman with passion for helping others. Together, they create quite the pair.
The story is very smooth from the very beginning, I’d say pretty easy-going, with just the right amount of all sorts of scenes. There’s just a bit of a drama, otherwise it’s a nice relaxing read. I loved every page of it to be honest. If you are looking for a great steamy read that won’t make you bite all your nails off, this is the right book for you!
I love Emma Chase’s books. Her books are always so fun. Tommy and Abby are truly awesome together. They remind me of puzzle pieces just fitting together perfectly. Their banter and chemistry was just perfect, right from their first meeting when Tommy woke up from being unconscious and thinking he was in heaven! The book was perfect.
Emma Chase is one of my automatic one click authors! What’s better than an opposites attract, super sexy spinoff with some fun cameos!
Opposites attract
hero who’s a bodyguard
heroine who’s a doctor
super sexy
amazing banter
hot chemistry
endearing romance
cameos by favorite royally series book characters
I gave 5 stars to all of the books in the Royally series, they are just that good. And because I read all of those I was excited when I heard Tommy (one of the royal bodyguards) was getting a spinoff book!
But enough gushing….
This story was a top notch Emma Chase book. Meaty plot, fun banter, family dynamic issues thrown in, just enough drama and a good amount of steam. Tommy and Abby are really likable characters and she did them justice in their book. Tommy’s cheeky behavior and dirty talk are super fun.
I will say, there was a lot more going on in the Royally plots, while this one still had a good plot, it was a little more straight forward.
This is an enjoyable read and a top tier “falling for the bodyguard” story, but honestly, it’s also much more than that.
I hope there is more to come for these characters in Wessco!
Emma Chase’s newest hero and heroine epitomize the idea of opposites attract; in fact, Abigail Haddock and Tommy Sullivan might just be two of the most contrary characters in terms of their personalities and views on life and living. She’s focused on her career, is reserved, and an over-thinker. She also comes from a family whose expectations are as high as their achievements, which is why she concentrates in making them proud, never allowing herself to take a break or have fun because she already feels inadequate enough next to the other members of her family. Her uber focus and her need to understand the ins and outs of every action is what prevents her from acting on a whim and from having a modicum of down time or fun interactions…that is until the dirty charmer himself, enters her ER and her life in a way that will show her how life is supposed to be lived.
Since Chase introduced Tommy to readers, we’ve waited impatiently to see who she would pair up with this laidback, playful playboy, and while I don’t think anybody thought someone like Abigail would be his other half, as their story continues and Tommy and Abigail spend more time together, we see, firsthand, just how well they play off of each other’s strengths and help work through some of their individual weaknesses. And, by the time readers reach the end of Dirty Charmer, it’s clear that they are exactly with who they’re supposed to be and it’s their differences that actually make them perfect for one another.
Dirty Charmer is an endearing and steamy read – one that allows readers to catch up with Chase’s royal couples as well as revel in Abigail and Tommy’s banter and sizzling chemistry in a way that proves just how right they are for one another.
