MADDIE: Annoying childhood companions to shocked and aware young adults to betrothed to married. A very passionate and happy jaunty story.
CECE: Cece and her twin brother Elias (Eli) grew up next door with the Rotherford brothers, Robert, Charles and Spenser. Charles was Cece’s best friend. After Cece witnessed an argument between her parents then later hearing gossip about her father, she was dead set against marriage. But when you have a matchmaking mother and brother things are bound to become interesting. A fun read.
ELIZABETH/Lizzie: LIZZIE: This is one of the more sensitive and emotional books of The Dirty Birds Series. Lizzie is a young woman who acts like a shrew. No one likes her and she likes no one. Her mother is a despicable poor example for Lizzie but she is all Lizzie has. Lizzie has gotten herself in serious trouble. So bad that she had to flee London to escape the aftermath. While in the country, she becomes desperate and does the unthinkable. Robert Rotherford catches her in the act and sees a side of her that he never saw before. When Lizzie’s uncle comes down hard on her, promises to give her hand in marriage to the highest bidder, Robert steps up and marries her. Robert resolves most of Lizzie’s problems with the exception of her personality. Robert only wants a marriage in name only. He takes Lizzie hours away from everything she knew and drops her off at Hope House. It is a home for women and children from horrendous situations where they were unable to defend for themselves. This life was without any of the creature comforts Lizzie had grown up with and she had to pull her own weight. She was not use to being told what to do nor helping others let along help herself. She was not use to being around children and that took her some time to get use to. During the several months at Hope House, Lizzie began to feel something in her heart for the first time. It was the beginning of a second chance for her. When she returned to Rotherford House to stay with Robert/Robbie and his family, she went through a lot of emotional angst. But Robert saw the kernel of hope in Lizzie’s soul and was encouraged. Lizzie had a lot of people to face up to and it made her sick to her stomach thinking about it. A sad but inspirational story full of wit, humor and romance. A very good read.
BEX: A tragic story of a very young gentile woman who had the rug pulled out from under her feet and was thrown onto the mercy of the streets. She was assaulted. An elderly man, Obe, took her in and taught her to pickpocket and steal. She made friends with Alice, who sold her body for food and rent money and Softy, a very large man who had the mind of a five-year-old. One day she saw a gentleman about to be accosted or worse. She took action. This was the beginning of a new day for Bex and her friends. I liked this because it was so realistic, full of genuine feelings and emotions. A very good read.
SOPHIE: I really liked Sophie’s character. She is good, kind, intelligent, focused, driven, quirky, honest and plagued with accident prone nervousness. She knows what she wants and will wait forever to get it. She is determined regardless of what loved ones say to dissuade her. I also liked her cohort Lord Randall. Now he is very interesting and I hope to read an episode about him falling in love. A very good read.
MARGO: Oh, how I love Margo. I loved little Margo and I love young lady Margo. It was wonderful to read through the previous episodes and see her grow up. She is a character that you cannot help but adore. After everything evil she had to endure as a child, I am happy that she got her happily ever after.
If you decide to read this collection be prepared to be reading for a long time. That is not a complaint, just an advisory. Amazingly, each story is interesting on it’s own. The romantic entanglements are almost as unique as the characters themselves. There is a thread of humor throughout surrounding the young women and their “club” which starts a little farther into the set. This review would be pages long if I did each story separately so I will try to recap the general sentiments.
Really strong, sweet young women with some quirky elements. PLUS. A whole lot of men who are considered rakes with no intention of marriage. You get some quirky, sexy stories all with their own HEA. Happy reading!

All seven of The Dirty Bird Chronicles together in one great set that is well written. A set that you can read at one sitting or read between other books which is what I did. I enjoyed reading and would recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
These period pieces were well written and sweetly romantic. Just enough spice and innocence with the characters interconnected with each progressing book.
Evenly paced with a nice feel to each romance as the characters developed
as their relationships grew.

All seven books in the Dirty Bird Chronicles series. They are all a modern telling of regency romance. I enjoyed that the secondary characters are throughout the series. All the stories are sweet with a little steam and humor. The women are strong and independent, the men know just how to tame them. I enjoyed each of them and would highly recommend if you like a little steam with your historical romance!
Seven books all in one box set. That would be exciting within itself, but each book hold two stories. All intertwined but an individual account. Meet the Dirty Bird Series and Rakes vs. Wallflowers all together in Volume One and a promise of more to follow. What more can I say. These stories are filled with so much passion, chemistry, curiosity, strong characters, adventure, and love. Through it all, you will find S. Cinders unique humor that will range from small chuckles for deep belly laughs bringing tears. I loved each and every one of these books.
