Love–on the rocks…. The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that come with her. Lydia Green doesn’t know whether to scream or cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it’s with his best man is another … it’s with his best man is another thing all together.
Just when this runaway bride has nowhere left to turn, a handsome stranger offers her a broad, muscular shoulder to cry on. Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessmen she’s normally drawn to. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and is facing his own crossroads. But Lydia’s already tried Mr. Right and discovered he’s all wrong–maybe it’s time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.
After all, what’s wrong with getting dirty?
Dirty is the first book in the Dive Bar series from bestselling author Kylie Scott.

This is my first Kylie Scott book and I enjoyed it. I listened to the audio version which is narrated by Grace Grant and she, of course, did an amazing job. This story had very relatable characters who all seemed to be experiencing some fucked up situations, but they were honest, raw, and a loyal bunch who stuck together no matter what their circumstances were. I loved Lydia. I loved how she didn’t let Chris family take her down despite the fact that they were well known and wealthy. She was the perfect person for Vaughn. These two were so hilarious together. They each thought they knew what they wanted out of life, but fate had different plans for them
I liked this book , it was a little different then i was expecting but i still thought it was good.
I loved Meet Vaughan in (Deep) so the fact that he got his own book was awesome 🙂 i really enjoyed getting to know more about him , i loved how he finds Lydia in his bathtub ,omg i was laughing so hard, i liked the relationship that he & Lydia built , it was kinda fate that she ended up being a runaway bride because if she had married that loser her life would have been total crap but instead she ends up meeting her true love & their life together is looking pretty awesome 🙂
I am a Huge fan of Kylie Scott’s books 🙂
I was expecting rock band romance…wrong, but I still loved it.
A wedding gone wrong, a runaway bride and a bit of trespassing starts this story off with a laugh. I enjoyed the plot, the characters were funny and naughty.
Bring on the next book.
Excellent book in this series.
The first book I’ve read by Kylie Scott and definitely, not the last.
Weddings are supposed to be happy occasions. A day where two souls pledge their love and fidelity before their family and friends. For most people, that is the case–not for Lydia Green. Moments before she was to say “I do,” a video of her soon-to-be-husband in an uncompromising position appeared anonymously on her cell phone.
Vaughan Hewson hadn’t expected to find a disheveled run-away bride crying in his bathtub, but then again, life had certainly thrown him some curve balls. Sexually attracted to the stranger and rather intrigued, Vaughn had no idea he’d just met the one woman who would claim his heart.
Dirty is book one in the Dive Bar Series written by Kylie Scott. It’s so good. So raw. So emotional. So funny. And..oh so dirty! Vaughn and Lydia’s chemistry is combustible. This story will keep you up at night eager to find out what will happen next. The characters are screwed up and dysfunctional, yet totally loveable. I can’t say enough good about this contemporary romance. It had it all.
Happy Reading!
I’ve read almost everything by this author, and I’m not a big fan of first person. So that should say a lot.
*I was given a copy for review purposes.
Dirty is sexy, funny, and packed with drama. I didn’t want to put it down and when I had to the story stayed with me. I think that Lydia and (notlydia) is my favorite of Kylie’s female charters so far and I love Vaughn, but Mal will probably always be my favorite man. All of the characters felt like they belonged in the story. I have run into some books that felt like the other characters didn’t add to the story. I can’t wait for more of the series to get to know more about all of them. As usual I worry about telling too much so I will just say Kylie Scott is an amazing author and she did it again with Dirty. Get it and read it as soon as you get the chance.
I loved this book. It was sweet and funny and sassy. I definitely recommend it and this author.
It was just as good the second time around in audible form.
I loved Lydia, “my breasts.” I waved a hand around the pertinent parts of my anatomy. Though I’m reasonably certain he already knew where they were. “These things, Vaughan. The baby feeders and pillows of sin. You’re staring at them.” His startled gaze jumped to my face. “I wouldn’t mention it, but it’s been a while now and I’m beginning to get a little uncomfortable.” Lydia has a sweet way with words, “how hot you look lying on your bed with a bag of frozen beans stuffed down your jeans to ice your bruised balls.” The conversations these two had were epic:
“I just want you to know , I will not be falling slave to your devil ***k and demon tongue. No matter how good they are.”
“Hmm.” He rubbed his mouth against my shoulder. “Is that your way of saying you like how I eff?”
“Yes. Basically.”
I like what couples do together in Vaughan’s mind, so much better than real life, “one of his shoulders hitched. “Hanging out, watching TV, being together. Mostly naked, but occasionally not.” I can’t wait for the other characters to get stories.
I forgot how much I loved Kylie Scott’s writing style. Once I finished Dirty, I immediately went back and reread the entire Stage Dive series. The hero of Dirty, Vaughan, had a minor role in the last Stage Dive book, Deep. She brings such life and depth to her characters. Reading a Kylie Scott book is truly an enjoyable experience.
I was recently telling my friend about the most hilarious start to a romance novel I’ve ever read. The answer is Natural Born Charmer by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Nothing can beat the heroine walking down the side of the road in a beaver costume. However, the meeting between Lydia and Vaughan comes pretty close. On Lydia’s wedding day, she discovers that her fiancé is gay. Acting like any rational person, she scales the fence and breaks into the house next door. Vaughan, the house’s owner, finds her in his shower. They quickly bond as he backs her up against her ex-fiancé’s family. Vaughan offers Lydia his spare room and their relationship develops from there.
Both Lydia and Vaughan are at crossroads in their lives. Vaughan’s band has broken up and he came home to sell his parents’ house to his sister. However, she is facing her own issues and can’t help him out. Side note, I really hope Vaughan’s sister gets her own book. Lydia had worked for her ex fiancé so she too is out of a job. Both need to determine what the next step in their lives will be and how their growing relationship fits in. Overall, this was an excellent start to a new series. Scott once again captivates the reader and creates a world I can’t wait to revisit.

After a tortuous year of waiting, Kylie Scott is back with a vengeance and I love it! I pulled an all-nighter to soak up the Vaughan and Lydia goodness and it was worth it.
Dirty hits the ground running as Lydia is viewing the evidence of her fiancé’s cheating ways – with his best man- that was anonymously messaged to her on her wedding day. Ouch, no wonder she does a runner! Desperation has her climbing fences in heels and her dress to seek refuge in the seemingly abandoned home next door, so she is totally unprepared as she hiding in the bathtub for her crying jag to be interrupted by a spray of cold water and one very naked Vaughan who is just returning from his travels with his band and the Stage Dive crew.
If you read Deep, you will remember Vaughan from his attempts to help Lizzy and Ben and honestly I think he was one of the best parts of that book for me. If you haven’t read it, no worries- you can fall in love with him in Dirty just as easily! Once he recovers from the shock of finding a crying stranger in a wedding dress in his bathroom, he realizes what a beautiful spitfire has dropped into his life as she relays her story and subsequently gives her dirtbag ex-fiance what he deserves when he shows up looking for her.
Lydia has never had love and affection in her life, so when Chris came into it a few months ago, he seemed to good to be true but her damaged heart craved the positive attention and never questioned his desire to hold off on intimacy until they were married. Hindsight shows her the error of her thinking, but no one in town shared Chris’s less than well kept little secret with the newcomer either. Vaughan can’t deny his spark of interest as her resilient spirit starts to emerge, and he offers her a place to stay temporarily until she gets her life sorted. Having her to keep him company in the house he has barely returned to after the death of his parents may just keep him sane while he is there.
I love Lydia’s sense of humor and inner monologue that kept me grinning the whole way through, and I have so many passages highlighted my Kindle should be glowing in the dark. As a large and curvy girl myself, I can definitely identify with her body issues, but they are nonexistent in Vaughan’s eyes. Vaughan is a great combination of sweet, sexy and hot as Hades as they fall fast and hard for each other although neither wants to admit it to themselves. The insta-love part of the story is the only minor drawback for me, but yet it was still written in a way that I felt it and it made sense so it was ultimately a virtual non-issue to me in the end. The question constantly looms over them though: how soon will Vaughan leave again to escape his demons ad chase his dreams while leaving Lydia in the dust?
There is plenty happening around them to add to the story too because the Dive Bar family and friends are a hot mess! Vaughan’s sister Nell is separated from her husband who is also a co-owner of the bar which is just a minor complication as it turns out. Another friend and co-owner Eric uses the bar as his personal pick up pad which adds to the tension, particularly when bad blood between him and Vaughan over the bad rises to the surface again. There’s so much more too but you will have to read it for yourself! So what are you waiting for? Stop reading this and go buy this book now while I start my countdown to Twist’s release date!
