From New York Times bestselling author Cassia Leo comes a heartrending tale of all-consuming love, deadly family secrets, and overcoming unbearable loss.Jack and I had everything. Then in one brutal instant, the universe tilted on its side, discarding us into black nothingness. Now Jack is obsessed with revenge, and I’m desperate to leave the night of our anniversary behind me. When we’re not … anniversary behind me. When we’re not fighting, the only way we communicate is in the bedroom.
With nothing left to lose, I write a goodbye letter and head for my mother’s empty house, three hours away from Jack, where I quickly meet a neighbor who helps me find a job.
My new neighbor—handsome ex-soldier Isaac Evans—is complicated. Nevertheless, we form a fast friendship, bonding over a mutual desire to create something beautiful from the wreckage of our lives.
But despite the distance between us, Jack and I are still trying to make things work—fighting and playing dirtier than ever. And he doesn’t appreciate my new friendship with Isaac. Not one damn bit.

I struggled with this book a little bit in the beginning and middle. Toward the end, I finally felt like the story was going somewhere, and that is when the book ended. So I wound up buying the next book to see where it will go. So far, the second book is better – more to the point without so much extraneous detail.
Get ready to purchase the next book.
Just discovered Cassia Leo and she is talented. So engaging that I read it in one sitting staying up past midnight to read the entire book. A rarity for me.
Keeps you guessing
not my kind of book
Cliffhanger Alert. This book simply ends with not only nothing resolved-but new and bigger issues introduced. Overall the story was unique in that it starts off taking up where the “and they lived happily ever after” goes to shit. Also be aware that multiple times I, for one, had to skip page after page of gratuitous and explicit sex which did nothing to advance the story. If you’re into this type of voyeurism this storyline may be for you. By the end I didn’t even like the main characters any more. Not worth the reading time invested.
Although I enjoyed reading this, it made me crazy that it just ends. It is not a finished story. In other words, you have to buy the sequel to find out what happens. But other than the lack of an ending, it was a good read.
The best read in a long time!!
I highly recommended this book and the two other books in the trilogy. It’s important to note that you must read all the books to get to the happily ever after. Still it was well worth the read.
Great book! It is very well written. I really got into the story and characters. Just know that this book is a trilogy and this is only the first book.
Now I need to read the next one
Didn’t like the ending
It was a very romantic book.
Don’t read this unless you are willing to buy the next two. Not aa complete story.
I just didn’t care for this book.
Too slow in character development.
Dirt (Shoot for the Heart) Book One Written by Cassia Leo
5 Stars
“…there are so many ways to love someone. I just wish I knew how to love you in a way that would bring you back to me.”
I have been a fan of Cassia Leo’s writing and was thrilled to find a series I hadn’t read yet. I didn’t read what it was about- I just one-clicked. I had no idea the emotional rollercoaster I would be put through.
“…if it’s not the fight-me-tooth-and-nail, leave-me-bloody-and-gasping-for-air kind of love, I don’t want it.”
This book is filled with pain, regret, revenge, love, passion, jealousy, heartache and chemistry.
“If it didn’t hurt, it would mean there was nothing left to fight for.”
There was times I felt their pain, fight, despair…times I was afraid they’d do something they’d regret and times I was so angry on their lack of communication. Other moments I was in awe of their chemistry, love and connection. This book really reminds you that you don’t know others internal struggles and pain.
“He was dirty dancing inside me…She would never feel this way about anyone else. She could try, but I would never be out of her system.”
This was such a great book. It starts off so tragic. The main characters have a love that people wish to find in their lifetimes but, never do. The author writes so well, you can see everything because of her amazing writing. I can’t wait for the next book.
I want my time back. Unlikable characters. I would not recommend
One of the best books I’ve read lately. Hard to put down and immediately ordered the next two books of the 3 book series!
