A sweet clean romance with a bit of drama and a lot of chemistry. A nice storyline and plot. Likeable characters. Captivating from start to finish.
I like the mix of mystery, suspense, drama, danger. a villain and romance. It kept me on the edge.
A short but enjoyable and easy to read romance.
This is the final Catesby to marry. It is our beloved Earl, Francis. What we don’t know is that the housekeeper is what is keeping Francis for looking for a wife for himself. What he doesn’t know is that his housekeeper is a lady in hiding. Can I be honest? Francis isn’t much of a hero. He allows Rebecca to due most of the fighting before he can even get into the fray. The problem is that Francis is as feminine as his name, and it’s her brother that becomes the real hero. It’s delightful how he tries, but really is inept to handle this kind of situation. As far as I can tell, he’s not really ready to be an earl.
This is amusing, entertaining and romantic. Lord Catesby is kind, considerate, uncomfortable and confused. Rebecca is sweet, strong, protective and stubborn. Rebecca has been in hiding working as a housekeeper for Lord Catesby, but he was not told of the plan. He finds himself in turmoil over her because he thinks about her constantly, and knows it’s wrong. He knows he can’t marry a servant, no matter attracted to her he is. Rebecca doesn’t understand why being around Lord Catesby makes her nervous, until he kisses her. Things between them are already strained when her brother shows up, and then the person she’s trying to avoid. He seems more confused, yet more confident about his feelings than she is hers, until the truth comes out. This is a heartwarming addition to the series.

Book six and the final book in the House of Catesby is a well written story. Francis Earl Catesby and housekeeper Rebecca’s story held my interest throughout. This is a quick and easy to read clean romance. Miss Rebecca Armitage must flee the safety of her brother’s home. She is running from her cousin who is bound and determined to marry her and thereby take her fortune. She turns to her mother’s friend the Dowager countess, Margaret Lilias Catesby. The Dowager sets Rebecca up as the housekeeper for her son, Francis, Earl Catesby. She is to be incognito as Mrs. Harrington, the housekeeper. There is much confusion between Rebecca and Francis. Francis is drawn to Rebecca but knows as a member of the staff he cannot consider her as anything more. Yet, he cannot stop thinking about her. Rebecca is frightened when she learns that Francis wishes to dismiss her. The dowager intercedes on her behalf and secures her position. But Rebecca still is unsure why Francis wanted to dismiss her in the first place. If he does, where will she go? She cannot return to her home and she must keep her secret guarded closely. She cannot not risk that Mr. Jefferson, her cousin, will find her. There is so much tension between her and Francis. On her part she fears of being dismissed. On Francis’ part he fears he cannot stay away from her. What is to become of them and what of her brother, Mark, Viscount Rapson? Such a complicated situation that no resolution seems possible. A delightful story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Francis, the Earl of Catesby, is attracted to his new housekeeper, who unknown to him is a Viscount’s daughter hiding from her sadistic cousin Stephen who is determined to marry her no matter what cost to gain her inheritance, which he believes should have been his. There are feelings between Francis and Rebecca, but they fight it because of the difference in station and Rebecca because of her uncertain future. When Rebecca’s brother Viscount Rapson, Mark visits after surviving a fire their cousin set on his house, their cousin is soon hot on heels. Francis, Mark, and Rebecca come up with a plan to catch Stephen confessing his crimes and it almost goes too far. There was plenty of romance and suspense in this short Regency. I would love to read about Mark’s romance in a future book.
When Earl Joseph Edward Catesby died, he left his wife and six grown children to carry on his legacy. His mother, Lady Margaret Catesby, the Dowager Countess, had arrived to question her eldest son’s decision to replace a housekeeper because he said he wanted someone with more experience. He didn’t want to tell her the real reason. His mother had recommended Mrs. Harrington so she could take her present staff with her when she moved behind his manor house. Not knowing how to get his own staff, he was relieved to have his mother’s help and hired the lady before he met her. But she was much too young! Letting her go, however, would stain her reputation for no reason. But Francis just could not keep his mind off her, so getting rid of her was easiest for him. His mother reminded him that being the new Earl required him to be a fair master and to consider the consequences of his own actions. He was a titled gentleman and had to act with that in mind.
The Dowager Countess asked Rebecca to meet with her. She assured her that Lord Catesby would not end her employment. But Rebecca was concerned that he knew more than he should about her situation! Again, Lady Catesby reassured her that he did not, and reminded her she would soon be returning to her place in Society. She had to wait until 25 to wed or her husband would receive her inheritance as a dowry. So she was hiding from her cousin who wanted to get his hands on her fortune. He hadn’t gotten the title when her brother showed up from overseas; but forcing marriage with her would at least get him the money he craved. If she can hide a few more months, the money will be hers and hopefully her wicked cousin will leave her alone. Would she succeed in her plan, especially with her cousin so desperately searching for her? And will she take notice of Lord Catesby and his discomfort from his hidden feelings developing for her?
This is a fast-paced story that keeps the reader in suspense. The precarious situation Rebecca Patterson finds herself in can have repercussions for more than just herself. The characters are presented well and will pull the reader in. Grab your copy and see where the intrigue will lead each of them!
This book was wonderfully lovely. It was a heartwarming story full of love, romance and just a touch of intrigue. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
I guess I have read to many books, because as soon as the story started I knew which way it was going to go. I did enjoy the interaction between all the characters in the story. I am also glad that it finished the Catesby story line and it was kind of cool that she left Francis to the end. Overall it was a very good series, definitely one I would read again.

This is a short clean historical regency romance with a bit of a twist! Lord Francis Catesby has a housekeeper that he can’t stop thinking of and Rebecca, the housekeeper, has a secret that she can’t divulge to him. I enjoyed how the story played out and found both main characters very likeable. This is the first book I read from this author and I now look forward to reading more of her work!
