What would you sacrifice to bring to light the greatest discovery in human history?Quentin Darnell was only a boy when his anthropologist parents were overcome by a professional failure so crushing it led to his father’s suicide. Now a schoolteacher, Quentin is looking for answers that can only be found in the wild terrains of Indonesian Papua, where years ago his parents studied an isolated … parents studied an isolated aboriginal tribe.
Quentin leads his wife, son, and six students on a field trip to experience Papua’s pristine tropical forests. When their plane tragically crashes in the wilderness, Quentin becomes trapped in a vicious fight to protect the ones he loves.
Just as resources and hope run out, several mysterious tribesmen appear, bearing a substance with extraordinary healing properties. The material promises to benefit all of humanity. But it’s much more than medicine. It creates creatures unknown to science. And it brings to life what should remain dead—including Quentin’s own son, Addison.
Logic and sanity begin to unravel. Addison speaks a new language. He knows things he shouldn’t. And he’s a killer.
For the others to escape, Quentin must face a decision no parent should have to make.

Edge of my seat . . .
I LOVED Diffusion! From the very first chapter, it kept me on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what would unfold in the next chapter. Normally, I would not classify myself as a Sci-Fi reader, but I took a chance on Stan Smith’s book and was very glad I did. The obstacles faced by the Quentin Darnel family as they struggled to escape the jungle left my heart racing. Now, with lots of clues, but many unanswered questions, I find myself counting the days until I can start the sequel, Infusion.
Very cleaver and imaginative
Great read
Bizarre, disjointed, nonsensical
Creative, well-written; hard to put down. Anxious to read the sequels.
I had a hard time hanging in there for this one
I will not get the second book of this series. The book started fantastically but went down hill from there. The action was limited, the setting had potential but it did not get the full treatment that it could have. Overall, it was a slow book that did not come to a full climax.
A very good book! Excellent writing
Great book! Can’t wait to read the rest!
boring, couldn’t finish
Different.
kind of weird
Can’t wait to see what’s next
This book kept me turning pages. Many twists and turns. I read many genres, but this book has a dark side. Which I tend to shy away from. I am not a Mary Poppins ,but it’s ending left me unsettled. Not quite sci-fi and yet it is.
Good read fun
Really liked this series, different and well written.
It was a different take on the “alien” story line. Interesting read.
Lots of thought provoking ideas about cultural diffusion. I was hooked enough to read the rest of the series- unusual for me.
I have read and enjoyed the first (3) books in the series. After a break I will get to the last one.
Started out kind of simple in the beginning but very enjoyable and original in the latter 2/3s.
