What would you sacrifice to bring to light the greatest discovery in human history?Quentin Darnell was only a boy when his anthropologist parents were overcome by a professional failure so crushing it led to his father’s suicide. Now a schoolteacher, Quentin is looking for answers that can only be found in the wild terrains of Indonesian Papua, where years ago his parents studied an isolated … parents studied an isolated aboriginal tribe.
Quentin leads his wife, son, and six students on a field trip to experience Papua’s pristine tropical forests. When their plane tragically crashes in the wilderness, Quentin becomes trapped in a vicious fight to protect the ones he loves.
Just as resources and hope run out, several mysterious tribesmen appear, bearing a substance with extraordinary healing properties. The material promises to benefit all of humanity. But it’s much more than medicine. It creates creatures unknown to science. And it brings to life what should remain dead—including Quentin’s own son, Addison.
Logic and sanity begin to unravel. Addison speaks a new language. He knows things he shouldn’t. And he’s a killer.
For the others to escape, Quentin must face a decision no parent should have to make.

I enjoyed reading this series so much that I read them all. Good characters, creative story line, easy to read….all positive aspects of a good read. 🙂
Thoroughly enjoyed, and sometimes saddened by the deaths of characters.
Enjoyed the characters and overall unique plot. The author described and, therefore, built in my mind a great picture of the village, forest, natives, and tree kangaroos. There’s a major fact hinted at regarding the second airplane that isn’t even brought up in this book. That’s a shame. The end seemed to drag a little and the ended pointing to the next book. This book does wrap things up pretty well, so don’t get me wrong that it just ends. However, there were some major plot lines that could have been easily brought out or wrapped up to make this book even better. The excerpt from the next book starts in chapter 5 which makes me think the beginning of the next book is not too exciting. Will probably read more in this series.
Not my favorite book. A little hard to follow, a little hard to believe. Trying to blend futuristic in a prehistoric setting just didn’t gel. Too much unnecessary bloodbath scenes. Sorry, it just didn’t pull me in and lead me to care one way or another about the characters.
This book is very original; full of twists & turns & a very unusual plot.
Interesting story. It just wasn’t for me.
This book was a fast read. I could not put it down. Kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were strong except for the wife. I loved the tree kangaroos. I highly recommend this book
This is a very imaginative and serious fantasy. Quentin, his family, and his students crash into the deep Amazon jungle where they are found by an indigenous people. And something else. Something wonderful and completely terrifying.
Memorable characters, fascinating dialogue and a complex plot.
Could not put this down..can’t wait to read the next one
Stan C. Smith has written a riveting science fiction thriller. He has created both scenes and characters adroitly with aplomb. His plot is original, and so exciting that it is hard to put the book down.
