Different as Night and DayI laid my husband to rest….Scott was my world and my future. His love for me transcended the dimensions of time and space—having made provisions for me in the event of his death. He was after all in a war zone and the odds were high he may not come home. But now I can’t help but think about the new man in my life – my husband’s father.Maguire creates a desire deep … desire deep inside of me I never knew existed. This is more than lust. I keep on asking myself the same question. Have I fallen in love with him because he’s so much like my late husband or because he’s his own man? Only time will tell.
After all, you can’t choose love, it chooses you.

I was desperately awaiting this arriving on my kindle so when it did I had to drop everything and jump straight in what a rollercoaster of emotions it sent me on. After the way book one ended I was on tenterhooks waiting to discover what would happen next.
Holland and Maguire are made for each other but because of the nature of their relationship things have been difficult. Dealing with guilt and grief is something they both need to work at if they ever stand the chance at been together.
A fantastic conclusion to this forbidden romance and a solid 5 stars for me.
When you have a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat in the first part of a duet it’s extremely hard to live up to the hype of that book in the second part. This one comes darn close. See the first part catches you off guard and if it’s a taboo subject it’s even that more tantalizing. The second book has to tie up the cliff hanger and continue to hold your interest.
In my opinion, this book accomplishes the task at hand.
Too, unless it’s a mystery or a who done it, you need to keep the attention of the reader and go on into everyday life with all it’s intricacies.
There were time I was exasperated by Holland but you know what I totally got it. She had so much to cope with and so much to internalize and see what she could subject herself as well as her baby too. So to me, although I got frustrated with her, I agree with what she was dealing with. Plus her personality isn’t all light and airy. She’s a straight shooter.
Maquire, was a straight shooter but much more direct. I feel that was due to maturity and life knowledge. He also realized life was too short to care about other’s opinions. However, he for the most part, respected and gave Holland the space she needed. He was a little bullheaded and could be overbearing but he always had Holland’s and Scottie’s best interest at heart. He loved them.
The secondary characters made this story even juicier. Seriously, without them where’s the taboo aspect? We even get another element of suspense and intrigue. I don’t do spoilers so you have to read this duet.
Don’t worry you get all the feels and them some for what you’re looking for in a book.
To the author I say, “Well done”.
Different As Night and Day was the angsty, swoonworthy, and emotional conclusion to Holland and Maguire’s heartfelt story.
From the very beginning I’ve rooted for these two so hard and this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride like no other. I swooned, laughed, cried, ranted and was left with the biggest smile on my face. The push and pull between Maguire and Holland kept me hooked as unexpected twists kept me right alongside them through all their heartgripping moments. I found myself so emotionally invested in this couple that my heart broke only to end up mended again by the end.
Throughout this book the amazing secondary characters also burrowed their way into my heart right alongside Holland, Maguire and Scottie. I couldn’t help but fall in love with this book as two broken souls found that sometimes love comes when you least expect it. Different As Night and Day is an amazingly beautiful read that will give you all the feels and squeeze your heart in the best of ways.
I wasn’t sure how this story would end but I loved it. There were a few twists that really added to the story. I don’t want to give any spoilers. All I can say is you must read this duet. It is beautiful.
Different as Night and Day is the conclusion to Maguire and Holland’s love story. Their forbidden attraction to one another begins in Like Father Like Son when a father loses his son and a wife her husband. Neither one understands and tries desperately to deny their attraction to one another, but ultimately are not able to. Their back and forth, on again off again relationship takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster of a ride. This book made me question my own views and opinions on such a delicate subject. Ultimately I found myself rooting for them to get together because their love was more important than any preconceived societal norms about right and wrong. A satisfying conclusion to this two book series.
A fitting conclusion to this very sexy, forbidden, enthralling and exciting read by Leigh Lennon .
Picking up where book 1 left us we are once again thrust into the complicated relationship between Holland and Maguire.Which has more emotional ups and downs than a YoYo.
Their situation may not be an ideal one in some peoples eyes, but you cannot control what your heart wants.Love can creep up on us in the most strangest of circumstances, but if it feels right and you know you can be happy with that person, then you have to grab that chance regardless of what others think.
Holland had to stop fighting the attraction she felt for Maguire her Father in Law,because it was pointless. That girl can be so frustrating it was a good thing Maguire was so patient,he knew she was the one for him and he stood by that.
This is a great story and told perfectly I throughly enjoyed both books and this ending was everything I expected it to be and more.
I Loved it and Highly recommend it.
5 TWIST AND TURN STARS!! This is the conclusion of this duet and let me tell you, I am tired from all the ups and downs…..but it was so worth the read. This beautiful forbidden story was an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute of it. Holland and Maguire will touch your heart with all the feels. You should definitely read this duet, so go ahead and 1-Click.
OMG….where to begin!!! This is the second book in this series and it’s a definite must that you read book 1…..this story is sooo freaking good!!! Holland and Maguire are trying to fight their attraction to one another but it seems like the forces of nature are against them….so many things seem to go wrong but so much is right too….this story is full of angst, raw emotions, love, and lots of happiness….this was an awesome read!
What an emotional, edge of your seat, conclusion to this duet! I cried sad tears, happy tears and tears of frustration while reading this. There are so many twists and turns that you won’t want to put this story down until the very last page, and you will probably still want more lol. I definitely recommend this book if you like a book with angst!
Great conclusion to Holland and Maguire’s story, I’m incredibly happy with it. This duet is written in a way where the characters are easy to like, understand their thought process and reason for doing things which in turn makes it super easy to relate to them. I understood Hollands hesitation and would probably do the same however I wanted them to be happy sooner rather than later darn it. They get their HEA and it is well deserved.
There are some sad moments in this one too, moments that had me in tears.
I love the writing style and bold way this author writes. This duet is definitely one of my favorite reads of this year.
sigh … Okay, the story itself is good, but the execution of it could use a bit of spark. Honestly, there is entirely too much back and forth without actually moving forward even an inch with these two. I’m not quite sure what the author was trying to convey with the long drawn-out should we shouldn’t we business but for me it got old fast. SO I did a thing. I shut down all my expectations of age-gap taboo romance and just read the story. After that, it was smooth sailing. I’m not going to pick the book apart and start sharing all the things not to my taste because they are mostly just that, my taste. This duet read more like woman’s fiction than anything else and I think had it been advertised that way, I might have had a better experience over all. *shrug*
WOW!!!! The chemistry and the quilt these two felt throughout their story was so emotional. It goes to show that you can’t choose who you love, your heart chooses.
This is a difficult review to write. When I read book one in the duet I knew what the story was about. Young (21 years old) war widow moves in with her father in law that she barely knows and is surprised to find out that she is expecting her late husband’s baby. Holland is young and definitely comes across as such in both books. Her father in law is middle aged at 42 but is still in his prime. I could understand the visual attraction on both their parts along with the emotional attraction but I guess that I had hoped as the story evolved and time moved forward that I would get a reason as to why neither can move on with someone else when the story provides a lot of amazing supporting characters for them to choose from. The answer “the heart wants what the heart wants” just wasn’t enough for me. I didn’t have so much a problem with the taboo aspect part of the story but I just couldn’t wrap my mind around the conclusion of it. It is a well written book, told from dual POV. I cannot blame an author for not writing the ending that I wanted to read however I cannot in good conscience give it higher than 3*. I recommend reading it to make up your own mind.
Well Maguire lived through the fire, badly burned and scared.
Scotland was fine also.
The secondary characters are all here to.
There is is bitterness from Christine about Holland and Maguire’s relationship she ends up kinda losing it.
There are semi dirty sex scenes.
Holland is having trouble coming to terms with being in love with her deceased husband dad Maguire is fighting for them.
It isn’t until almost the end when Holland decides to move far away that we get a letter from Scott to Holland this time well past the year it was supposed to be delivered.
Maquire and Holland get their HEA but with alot of snikering. Maquire took on the role of husband, bestfriend, lover, father and pops to little Scotland.
This book is a heartbreaking story, there is so much guilt and shame that Holland feals its tearing her apart inside no matter how much her love for Scott is still there her feelings for Maquire are nore intense and she is so young that she just can’t cope with it all her decision to run was a bad one luckily these two were able to heal and grow.
It has been quite a long time since I have wanted to devour a book like I did with this one. Leigh Lennon is a new to me author and this duet had me hooked from page one. I love Maguire and Holland’s story, it wasn’t an easy one to read as it was forbidden love, taboo and a number of difficult topics all in one book, but it was oh so worth it. I can’t wait to read other books by this author.
3.5 Stars
Different As Night and Day is the second book in the Father/Son duet and ugh I’m really struggling with how I feel about this book so bare with me.
The storyline and some of the characters are absolutely amazing, Maguire is an alpha worth swooning over! The angst, forbidden, taboo, age gap is written in a beautiful way that makes it not seem so taboo. There are also some great secondary characters that I really hope get their own book.
Then there were some things that really annoyed me while reading…mainly Holland’s hot and cold behavior. I felt like she played high school games with Maguire and their situation was so unique that I thought the entire relationship deserved more. This being said I liked Holland, I just wanted to smack her sometimes.
The twist towards the end surprised me as I didn’t see that coming at all and I think that’s what really saved this book for me. I guess my finally thoughts are that I would recommend this series because book one was amazing and if you like a slow burn, then this book would be perfect for you!
This story will rock your world in an amazing, earth shattering way. You will fall in love with Maguire, Holland, Elsie, Ned, Christine, and all the other key players will tug your heart strings. You will want to swoon (hello- Darlin’), cry, cuss, scream. So be ready. But, it is worth every emotion you feel once you get through their whole journey. It is beautiful and sweet and shows you fate can be mean and cruel, but also give you the happy ending you always wanted.
So it took me a couple days to write this review. Leigh Lennon – you are a freaking mastermind at forbidden romance!! I always love Leigh Lennon’s books- but the story of maguire and Holland is one that shows the talent of this amazing author. The amazing twists, turns, emotions, heartbreak – they all combine to give you a story that will shake you up and then set you straight by the end. I am in awe of Leigh Lennon’s ability to draw you in from where Like Father Like Son left off to the very end of this story.
I was so emotionally invested and wanted to strangle Holland half of the time because she wouldn’t ever give in to what they both wanted. But, fate has other plans and had a tendency to get in the way with these two. This tale of love, emotion, devotion and overall matters of the heart will leave you on the book hangover of the year.
Maguire and Holland’s story takes off right where it ended in Like Father Like Son. Their story is one of upset, heartbreak, loss, and seeing what is right in front of you and fighting for what you want no matter what the odds. Their story is a beautiful story of going after what the heart wants, regardless of the circumstance.
Maguire is devoted and swoon worthy (totally hot!). Holland is a devoted mother who is strong and amazing. Together, they can be destructive, but create an explosion of emotions. Their chemistry is out of this world.
This book is a must read! Go one click it today! You won’t regret it!!
Holy hell this book gave me all the feels. I absolutely loved the conclusion to the duet. It had everything. Im so happy how it ended..after everything Maguire and Holland have been through they both deserve to be happy.
Different as Night and Day by Leigh Lennon
Book 2 Father/Son Duet
5 Stars
Amazing! Wow! I loved this continuation of the first book and an awesome ending to the duet!!
“No, I’ve learned, you two are different, as different as night and day.”
Oh, darlin’- no problem. I’ll lick, suckle, and kiss every surface of your body-no-strike that. It’s my body. You are mine.”
Highly recommend this awesome duet!!
If you thought you were on an emotional roller coaster with the first half of this duet, brace yourself. Leigh Lennon is about to fully blow your mind. Maguire and Holland’s story picks up right where it left off in the previous book and their ride goes nonstop until the very end. It’s brutal, it’s beautiful, it’s raw and it makes you ask yourself repeatedly if you could sacrifice a soul deep love because of the world’s standards.
There is A LOT that happens with these two and I’d never want to give a second of it away, so while I’d love to go on forever about every jaw dropping, heart breaking, powerful moment you’re going to have to trust me when I say this is an absolute must read. The slow burn continues throughout this book and that slow burn is exactly what makes Maguire and Holland so addictive to read about. As they battle with themselves and with each other that irresistible pull between them continues to just get more and more powerful.
