Different as Night and DayI laid my husband to rest….Scott was my world and my future. His love for me transcended the dimensions of time and space—having made provisions for me in the event of his death. He was after all in a war zone and the odds were high he may not come home. But now I can’t help but think about the new man in my life – my husband’s father.Maguire creates a desire deep … desire deep inside of me I never knew existed. This is more than lust. I keep on asking myself the same question. Have I fallen in love with him because he’s so much like my late husband or because he’s his own man? Only time will tell.
After all, you can’t choose love, it chooses you.

I loved the ending to Maguire and Holland. Their taboo relationship meets support and opposition, but Scott’s support was the most influential. They met their life everyday determined to love and be happy. I loved that.
I absolutely loved, loved this book. I didn’t quite know what to expect but this surpassed everything. Leigh Lennon has woven an intricate story of forbidden love. It was such an emotional rollercoaster of feels. Holland had me cheering for her and then wanting to yell at her for everything she was doing and saying!! I had not yelked at my kindle so much at one person in a long time. I could totally see where she was coming from… The best scenes with Maguire and Holland and their bickering and reminiscing of Scott were the best. Hollands not cursing words made me laugh everytime!! And then the scenes with Elise giving Holland advice or a heart to heart just broke me… Absolutely beautiful..
Then when everything went down I was bawling through everything. Through it all Maguire never wavered for the one thing he wanted Holland, and it just made him that more amazing!!
And I want friends like Teagan and Jace, who without question were there for their friend.
Then finally twards the end I couldn’t believe what was happening. My heart nearly stopped.. And the epilogue was perfect!! Loved it and it made my heart happy.
So the good: I really liked the characters. I thought they were true to their ages. Her being so much younger, it made sense that she would question everything. Him being older was more sure in his feelings. Even the supporting characters were so well written. The few steamy scenes were super hot. And a lot of that was all the build up, which was great. The narrators were excellent. They really brought the characters to life beautifully.
The not so good: The bad luck got a bit out of hand. It was one to many obstacles. I wanted more time with them really together, but they would get torn apart as soon as they tried by obstacles beyond their control. I also wish the heroine had owned and given into how she felt thru her own choices and not because of an outside source. The ending also seemed a little too far fetched.
This just wasnt the book for me.
This is the second book in the Father/Don duet and you really need to read the first book to understand the dynamics of this family and the complete situation or you will be lost. Holland and Maguire wow they are wonderful together and everything I believe Scott wanted his father to have. Did he envision Scottland being in the mix? No, but then again maybe if you are like me and believe in help from the beyond …. This book had me from the start and I am so happy I was able to read both books as one long book. Tissues and lots of coffee in my case. Wonderful read.
The stunning conclusion in this duet. Holland and Mcguire still struggle between what they feel is right and wrong. You can feel the push and pull with these characters. They get so close, and fate intervenes and they go two steps backwards.
Love should be easy but for them it is all about the angst. This story is filled with highs and lows and I am not sure if I want to shake the characters or cry. Love is love regardless of the circumstances. The taboo relationship is handled tastefully and I loved this story/duet.
“I love you-for you. Not because you’re so much like Scott. No, I’ve learned, you two are so different, as different as night and day.” ~ Holland
Age gap/slow burn/taboo if those words getcha hooked…download! Holland and Maguire’s story comes to an end and it is a HEA, but there are plenty of trials and tribulations. Such an emotional read that really makes you think about your own moral compass, would you? Could you? I will definitely be downloading more from this author in the future.
A Soul Touching Conclusion to A Beautiful Story…
“Different as Night and Day” is the second book of Leigh Lennon’s, Father/Son Duet. It is the conclusion to Maguire and Holland’s story. A story so touching, so genuinely, gut wrenching, and profound. It will irrevocably alter your view of love.
As with the first book, Lennon again offers a stunning tale of emotional survival after unthinkable loss. Writing a richly complex landscape of two people drowning in their own grief, dealing with the loss of a son and husband, together, the best they can. A father and daughter-in-law, bonded in grief and the love of what unexpectedly gets left behind, as well as, the difficulties with other’s opinions and judgements in how they are dealing, gorgeously and honestly written.
Here, Lennon bestows upon us a written testament to the purity of true love. A deliberately paced, allegorical narrative of Maguire and Holland slowly healing each other bit by tiny bit; all the while, growing closer and finding an unexpected yet fierce love for and in each other. A narrative that is far, far beyond a mere tale of taboo love. Instead offering an unadulterated illustration of how the heart wants what it wants. And how one’s soul does not entertain the social constructs of “taboo” and “forbidden” when it encounters its genuine other half; how both move in tandem of their own accord, fighting for what they truly need.
This book, and Holland and Maguire’s story overall, is impossible to ignore. The mark it will leave on your soul, irreversible. The range and depth of emotions flowing unrestrained across each and every page will irreparably shatter you and leave you clutching your chest, breathless. It is a story of emotional survival, bonding, and second chances at love unlike any other I have ever read.
And just like the first book, “Different as Night and Day” is stunningly poignant. The emotionally complex characters will violently bind themselves to your very being. And the connection Lennon builds between Maguire and Holland, so intense and pure, you will sob when they sob, laugh when they laugh, scream in rage at those who judge and attempt to control them, and burst with relief and joy in every step forward they successfully make.
This book, this series, is irrevocably, heart achingly, beautiful. An absolute must read!
Holland and Maguire’s story is continued in this book. Holland is in love with her father in law but trying to date other men to deny it. Maguire is dealing with his son’s death and trying to get Holland to come around to a relationship with him. Both characters were frustrating at times. All said, this was an interesting story about dealing with grief, societal expectations and doing what is best for yourself regardless of anyone’s expectations.
Different as Night and Day is Book 2 in this Duet and you definitely need to read them in order. I finished Book 1 early in the morning, and luckily for me Book 2 was already out, so I one clicked it and read it immediately so no sleep for me, but they were both so worth it. Holland and Maquire’s story continues. Sometimes I found myself yelling at Holland for things she was saying and doing. Maguire is steadfast in what he wants, and that is to be with Holland. He never wavers, but tries to give her what she wants and listen to her rules. The scenes of Holland and Elise are so poignant and you see how Holland is drawn to her and feels Elise is the mother she never had. Holland could not ask for better friends in Jase and Teighann and Josh. Jase so wants to be with her, but he knows she is in love with someone else, and he also realizes it isn’t just her dead husband, but he still drops everything whenever she needs him. The same thing can be said for Teighann and Josh, but there isn’t the added feeling involved. We all need friends like these in our lives. There is heartache and more twists and turns in this than you can ever think. The final few chapters have you feeling so many things. The letter that changes so much, and the Epilogue! I feel this taboo relationship was done so well. You should pick both of these books up and read them. I do not think you will be disappointed! Very well done Leigh Lennon!!
Different as Night and Day by Leigh Lennon
Five Stars
Different as Night and Day is the second book in the Father/Son Duet by Leigh Lennon. Thisduet needs to be read in order to get the full effect and honestly you don’t want to miss one minute of this amazing story. Holland and Maguire’s story continues and this book like the first will tear you apart with all of the emotional ups and downs. This book is the epitome of heartbreaking and heartwarming situations that will have you laughing and crying throughout. I love all of Leagh’s stories but this duetis,y. New favorite and in the top five books I have read this year.
Love, love, loved the conclusion to this duet. Maguire and Holland’s story was definitely worth waiting for!!
A slowburn taboo romance with lots of angsty parts thrown in. This second part follows directly from the first, and what a cliffy it was! I was living for the taboo of it all. A simply scrumptious read from start to finish.
Oh! Hot Biscuits and Gravy! I was chomping at the bit to get this second book after that epic cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, book one left us with. Was this author going to devastate us with another loss like in the first book? Our Poor, dear hearts just couldn’t take it. Now…I’m not saying she’s not going to break your heart. Oh my heavens… She’s gonna destroy it. Like a southern granny with a fly swat!
This story is a rollercoaster of feels. So Grab your Kleenex and ride this magical ride! There is so much heartbreak and fear, and guilt in this second part to Maguire and Holland’s journey.
They have both suffered through so much. They understand just how short and precious life is and they both know happiness for them together is just barely out of their reach. At anytime either one of them could just reach up and grab the other and ride off in Scott’s old truck and live Happily Ever After. If only right?
Together they could be beautiful, yes a bit unconventional and forbidden too. Could you imagine what it would be like to love someone yet know that to love and be with them there would definitely be backlash from society and family and friends? To love someone and feel that giving into that love would mean betraying someone else that you still love, even though they are no longer alive.
Me, I think Holland and Maguire are inevitable, no matter how you look at them. Whether they ever actually give in to their feelings or not. Maybe we will make it to the last page and they are still fighting those feelings? It doesn’t change that fact. Inevitable!
So this book is definitely a ride you want to take to see what direction this author is going to take you on. Will Maguire and Holland be together? Or will the guilt and fear of what everyone will think be too much for her?
This book was deep. The connection between all of the characters was beautiful. GAH! They were just so spectacularly written. The relationships between everyone in this small town were weaved together into this fantastic extension of friends,
co-workers, and neighbors. They kind of had an almost a familial vibe to their relationships even though most of them weren’t necessarily related. We could all only hope to develop relationships like that in our real lives. Mad props to Leigh Lennon for capturing such heartfelt emotions and realistic connections between these characters. It was amazing. I was so invested in these characters. I felt like I was right there in the story with them, like they were my people. When they hurt so did I. Because of that , there were some things that happened in this story and I literally was thinking out lout to the author “how could you?” But it was necessary in the journey for our amazing Holland and Maguire to endure all these things. Necessary to become the people they were supposed to. To do that they had to experience all of these events, some as individuals and some together. As always this author makes sure that there was something good that came out of something tragic. It’s her gift. To her story and to us the readers. Definitely recommend this book!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book.
My cr8zysockbookblock overall ratings for this book!
– This author slayed me with book. I loved this authors concept and delivery. It was beautiful, tragic and beautiful at the same time, the flow was perfect and believable.
– This book was hot! There was tons of scorching hot tension for a long while, but when it was time to really throw down. HOLY MOLY!
Cliffhanger Warning- No Cliffhanger. Everything is wrapped up in this book. I know I was extremely Happy with the way it ended.
The heart wants what the heart wants, right? I could not wait to get my hands on Different as Night and Day by Leigh Lennon after the ending of book 1 in the duet. What would happen next? Holland and Maguire had finally given in to the chemistry between them and then everything changes again!
Holland is plagued with guilt throughout this story for what she feels for the father of her late husband. Was it because he reminded her of Scott or because of the man Maguire was? But in the end, did it really matter? She could never be with him. Maguire on the other hand knew how he felt about Holland and was ready to fight for her and have a future together. But she pulled away from him at every turn.
Different as Night and Day by Leigh Lennon was full of angst and steamy chemistry. There was so much more push and pull between Holland and Maguire this time around. How could they ever be together with the history between them?

Picking up right where book one left off we find out what happens after the fire!
I was brought in an emotional rollercoaster with this book. There were tears! I was shocked and I smiled.
I don’t want to give too much away as you’ll just have to read it to find out what happens.
This is a forbidden/taboo romance so if that is not your thing be warned that is what you’ll find here.
I am a huge believer of love is love and you get lots of love in this book in all kinds of forms not just the sexy kind… you will get that as well..
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It is well written and easy to read
Holland and Maguire’s conclusion was filled with the emotional turmoil I expected. I loved how M went all out for her, yet he knew there was a point where he had to step back and let her figure things out. Holland was so conflicted, and though she knew she loved him, in her mind it was just so wrong. I waited with baited breath to see her come around.
I loved seeing them find their happiness, but there were times I was so frustrated with Holland. She had a good point, but she was cruel at times, and one second she’d be pushing Maguire away and spewing mean words, and the next second she was all over him. I swear I got whiplash just wrapping my head around her mind!
I definitely loved Maguire. He was aggressive in that sexy way women just die to have. I also loved the other characters, and I adored Elise and Ned! They made this story so heartwarming in a special way. This book was a great way to end the duet!
Different as Night and Day is the conclusion to the Father/Son Duet. This story picks up right where it left off in Like Father Like Son. The future for Holland and Maguire is still uncertain, they have feeling for eachother, but they feel like they shouldn’t, since it’s only been a short time of losing Scott. I’m so glad I waited to read these books back to back. I was an emotional mess by the end.
You can’t help who you fall in love with!
This is the perfect ending to this duet. Even though at times I was so mad at the author. I kept going and love how she ended it. Maquire and Holland are a beautiful couple. Holland had to grow up so quickly but Maquire helped ger see so much. Even when they fight it is cute. Patience is the name if the game with Maquire and he has more than I do. I definitely recommend this duet.
Finally, the epic conclusion to the much awaited Duet by Leigh Lennon! The first book, Like Father Like Son, left you with an epic Cliff hanger. You wonder how the second book Different as Night and Day can possibly live up to the amazingness that is the first book, but boy does it! This is by far my Favorite duet of all time. Leigh continues to grow Holland and Maguire’s relationship in this book. It still is not easy for the characters! There is so much angst and back and forth between Holland and Maguire, but there is also So MUCH LOVE. This book has an amazing ending, and a super sweet Epilogue. I am running off to buy these in paper back to read them, again and again. WEll DONE LEIGH!!
Good conclusion to this duet. Happy that I had this complete duet loaded before diving in.
You can’t pick the one you fall in love with. This book definitely has you seeing things from a different perspective.
Glad I read this duet! If you’re into taboo reads, this one ticks off all the must haves.
