Without fail, Reacher stories captivate and entertain me. Wouldn’t miss one.
Great Jack Reacher book, kept me guessing and on edge .
Great action.
No hesitation about believe-ability or achieve-ability. Needs no woo-woo magic or alien powers to save the hero. Love it
What can I say? I’m a Jack Reacher fan.
I own all the Jack Reacher series as they are very entertaining w/very good plots & stories.
Always love Jack Reacher books.
Reacher finds himself in a rare situation; he’s kidnapped, but hunted by the FBI at the same time as a kidnapper.
Loved it!
I love anything lee child’s writes
Lee Child solidifies Jack Reacher as a multi-faceted hero who can’t stay out of trouble. In “Die Trying” Reacher confronts home-grown terrorists who threaten the US government and military the highest levels. Reacher’s insight into the mindset of the body guys is again matched by brawn of a plane load of special force operatives. The amount of explosives, weapons, and missiles possessed by the militia is hard to believe, yet they serve to add greatly to the reader desiring to see what’s coming in the next page and chapter. I enjoyed Die Trying so much that I immediately downloaded additional E-Books featuring the man with no middle name.
Wasn’t a typical Jack Reacher book. Lots of holes not coming together well
I love Jack Reacher. This is a good one.
This is one of Lee Child’s best. I had read it bore, but gave my paperbacks away. Essential read for Jack Reacher’s skill set and character building.
I usually like the Jack Reacher books but this one just moved back and forth a little too much.
Love all the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. Fast moving and hard to put down. Lots of attention to detail and believable. Good character building and great reading with plenty of twists and turns
I kept hearing about the Jack Reacher series, so when I saw this book on sale, I had to snap up a copy. People kept promising me that the books were unputdownable. Turns out they were right.
This is the second book in the series, and I hadn’t read the first, only the short story collection “No Middle Name,” but I was still able to follow along just fine. “Die Trying” is basically a standalone, although it no doubt relies on the continuity of Reacher’s character.
In many ways it’s standard thriller fair, although some of the topics might have seemed a little newer when the book was released 20 years ago. I’ve read that the books basically follow the plot of a Western, with the lone gunslinger (Reacher) coming into town and fixing things. In this case, the town is Chicago, although the action quickly moves away from Chicago and out into rural America, where there’s some serious but all-too-plausible craziness going on.
I won’t give away plot spoilers, but I will say that I’ve read a lot of this plot before in other thrillers. Nonetheless, the book is indeed unputdownable. Reacher is a riveting character, and the plot threads are intercut and then tied together in a way that keeps the reader breathlessly turning the pages. Lee Child has been accused of being overly commercial, and this is definitely a commercially oriented type of book, but that doesn’t make it any less compelling. Tolstoy it’s not, but it is a very gripping read, and will appeal to thriller fans far and wide.
As always Lee Child does not disappoint. Reacher is everyone’s dream. Strong, kind, insightful, living the life we would all wish for. Plot is timely and all too real. Suspense mind gripping.
I love Lee Child! I’ve read all of his books and can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed with any of them! I can’t wait for his next one!
I have read every book in the series. They are all smart, action packed and real page turners. So hard to put down. What can I say, Jack Reacher is the best. A hero who does what’s right because it’s right. Not for what’s in it for him. Have toothbrush, will travel.
