Matilda Dare can’t sleep. Her insomnia is one more reason to move to the quirky small town of Goodnight, New Mexico after she inherits a house, a small newspaper, and two old dogs there. But despite the Goodnight name, Matilda still spends hers wide awake, and she has good reason after a reporter is murdered. With a mystery to solve, she begins to investigate the town and uncovers more suspects … suspects than she knows what to do with.
Meanwhile, the hottie cowboy sheriff is doing his own investigation into Matilda, and the mysterious, handsome stranger, who just happens to live with her, is showing up in all the wrong places. As her investigation continues, danger increases, and it might end up spelling lights out for Matilda.
Die Noon is the first installment in the hilarious, romantic Goodnight Mysteries series and a spinoff of the Matchmaker Mysteries.

Interesting, if hard to follow at times…
Got to be ridiculous.
A quirky mystery with a lot of humor. A diverting read. I give it a B+.
This book is a crack-up laughing page turner! Who knew so many crazies could live in one little town?!?
I laughed out loud while reading a particularly hysterical passage in this very funny book. I don’t often laugh out loud, but this author has a way of making a scene come to life and jump off the page. Her writing is witty and colorful. I would have given the book 5 stars except that the ending seemed a bit pat and unrealistic. Enjoyable nonetheless.
This was a truly delightful read. I found myself laughing out loud. It’s a light, fun read that left me looking forward to the next in series.
Although this book is a bit silly, it is laugh out loud funny. Warning, this a stand alone book but Ms. Sax sucks you in to read the following books to find out how the interconnecting stories end. I’m about to finish book 3 and can’t wait to get to book 4 and 5.
I didn’t realize that I’d read the 1st in this series until the end. Seems a bit confusing. Preferred the 1st book.
This book was great fun! Funny main character and very light reading. One reviewer said she put off right away because of the bad language and sex in the book. I seriously do not know what book that person was reading! There is some light cussing and sex in the book … nothing that is vulgar.
Srsly? She sleeps once or twice in the entire book. Humans can’t live without sleep.
The town is a mishmash of north and south New Mexico that drove me crazy. Yes, it’s a pretend place, but a little more authenticity wouldn’t hurt.
Again, srsly? Two hot guys who are brothers fighting over her? What is it with this trope that whenever a woman moves to a new place, there’s instantly hot guys wanting her, falling all over themselves, for no apparent reason?
And why does she need her husband’s consent for the divorce? That’s just silly.
And then there’s the executives from the oil company who somehow decide to wander out into a festival, with guns! and shoot at the MC. WHY? Why on earth would they do this? She hasn’t even uncovered anything about them, and they publicly, blatantly go out to shoot her?
So … despite all this, I finished the book. And despite all this I rather enjoyed it. The writing style is quirky. At times too much, but on the whole enjoyable. A nice cast of supporting characters — again, a bit over the top, but fun.
I won’t be reading any more, though. One was enough.
Like the western setting, kind of unusual.
Ok, it took me awhile to get into the rhythm of the mystery. Once I did, the plot captured my attention. The clues are all there just shuffled and hidden in the deck of insignificant daily activities of a new person in town trying to keep her high altitude head focused on running a business.
Loved the book! Thoroughly entertaining!
Light, funny, easy and enjoyable read!
1. imaginative, hard to suspend belief for all though.
2. Too many mysteries left unsolved. If Big Oil/Fracking wasn’t behind the murders, why did top execs try to commit murder in the midst of a crowd?
Hysterically funny
Loved the use of word play even in the title
An entertaining story
Wonderful mystery with a journalistic twist. I loved reading how the new owner of a newspaper became involved in deducting who did what to whom that even the sheriff could not figure out.
Light and enjoyable
