Matilda Dare can’t sleep. Her insomnia is one more reason to move to the quirky small town of Goodnight, New Mexico after she inherits a house, a small newspaper, and two old dogs there. But despite the Goodnight name, Matilda still spends hers wide awake, and she has good reason after a reporter is murdered. With a mystery to solve, she begins to investigate the town and uncovers more suspects … suspects than she knows what to do with.
Meanwhile, the hottie cowboy sheriff is doing his own investigation into Matilda, and the mysterious, handsome stranger, who just happens to live with her, is showing up in all the wrong places. As her investigation continues, danger increases, and it might end up spelling lights out for Matilda.
Die Noon is the first installment in the hilarious, romantic Goodnight Mysteries series and a spinoff of the Matchmaker Mysteries.

I like her other books better.
This book took place in a small town. The main character inherited a newspaper and was from California. The town had more than its share of characters.
It was a little weird but still a fun read.
How to describe this book? A wild ride of muder, tamales, a ghost, a dilapidated home, a hunky sheriff, and aliens. Whoo hoo!
Matilda is something else, sweet and tough, with a scary past thanks to her husband. But she inherits a broken down newspaper, a house, the newspaper staff and a delish border named Boone.
This plot is so weird and yet it totally works!!
The staff is threatened and the town is dying slowly because if a curse……some people years ago, they hung a giraffe…..yup! You have Amos, widowed sheriff, and Norton, a very big man and owner of an alien store, and the women including Faye, Norton’s wife.
Poor Matilda has to do reporting when a reporter is killed and another, Silas, is injured.
The first chapter has Matilda going to the newly renovated pool to write about it and ending up at the bottom of the pool till delish sheriff Amos rescues her…oh my, have the kleenex nearby…so darn hilarious!! Laughed out loud and even screeched. You have the tamale lady, stories and gossip about Matilda, and as she is ready to give up on love and men……it seems to be raining men.
There is the town willing to care for Matilda, a dead young reporter, an injured reporter, worries about money and a good plot with most of the crimes solved. And Matilda grows on you, she is a bit odd, quirky, but caring and stubborm and trying to survive. Be prepared to enjoy this wild ride down the rabbit hole…and if you like police procedurals, serious drama, chills and etc…please skip this book. If you are ready fir a break and fun and very endearing characters….read this!
Loved reading this series of books. Waiting for the next one to come out in July. Very funny and easy to read.

This was a funny book with plenty of whodunit! The heroine was unique and entertaining. I immediately downloaded and read the other books in the series (4 so far) and started on the author’s previous Matchmaker series
