Matilda Dare can’t sleep. Her insomnia is one more reason to move to the quirky small town of Goodnight, New Mexico after she inherits a house, a small newspaper, and two old dogs there. But despite the Goodnight name, Matilda still spends hers wide awake, and she has good reason after a reporter is murdered. With a mystery to solve, she begins to investigate the town and uncovers more suspects … suspects than she knows what to do with.
Meanwhile, the hottie cowboy sheriff is doing his own investigation into Matilda, and the mysterious, handsome stranger, who just happens to live with her, is showing up in all the wrong places. As her investigation continues, danger increases, and it might end up spelling lights out for Matilda.
Die Noon is the first installment in the hilarious, romantic Goodnight Mysteries series and a spinoff of the Matchmaker Mysteries.

Good book, got some laughs out of it, and the mystery was good. Quirky characters. Will probably read others in this series. Language is clean. While no actual sex, there was a bit too much going on in her every time the heroine was in the company of a handsome fellow — a bit over the top, I thought.
Fun story
I enjoyed reading this book with a heroine that reminded me of Gidget in the 1960’s. Here were several laugh-out-loud scenes, but some were a little corny. The author reminds me of Janet Evanovich.
Like the way the writer Elise Sax tells stories! And she’s humorous!
This was a farce, not a mystery. The best thing I can say about it is that it was short.
A good book with funny twists and turns. Very entertaining.
Not my kind of humor.
A fun read.
Loved this book
The culprit was a surprise. It was structured well for a serial novel; the story was complete with the basis set for the next novel.
I thought I had the killer figured out and of course, I was totally wrong! I laughed all the way through this book, and loved all the twists and turns. I totally recommend the entire series! Happy Reading!
Entertaining and cute. Enjoyed the story.
This was pretty good, once you got passed all the handsome men.
Fun to read. I think I read one of the later in the series first.
I loved this book! It was one of the most clever and funny books I have read in ages. If you read this in public, people will interrupt you to find out wat is so funny – seriously! It is one of those book that you read quickly because you want to know what happens and at the same time, you don’t want it to end. Definitely worth reading!!!
Fun quick read. I laughed out loud.
This was such a fun read. Love Matilda – the main character. But all of the characters were wonderful. Elise Sax has created a new world view in Goodnight. Lots of suspense. Cool but lovable animals! Very elegant in solving the crime; yet super “tongue in cheek” story telling. I am now addicted; have to buy the next book.
Fun read!
The story dragged on longer than necessary.
Great characters & great setting
