KENNETHIf one has to get their heart broken, I highly recommend it be just before inheriting some far-off property from an unknown relative. It’s convenient for putting distance between oneself and all that unpleasantness.I hardly knew what to expect from the sprawling Yorkshire estate I suddenly found myself in possession of. All I know is the magic of the place soothed all my troubles. I was … soothed all my troubles. I was instantly enchanted.
Among everything competing for my attention nothing captivated me more than a simple journal I found. It chronicled the days of a man named Eustace, a kindred spirit in whose lonely words I found companionship. His secret yearnings and desires a mirror to my own.
But when I connected the journal to the mysterious black wolf that shared my estate, perhaps I should have let caution take precedence over curiosity.
Instead, I committed myself to unraveling this mystery.
But the same love that could free him from his terrible curse could also forever doom me to my own…
EUSTACE
I thought I’d long ago resigned myself to my fate.
That was before Kenneth.
For the first time in decades, I find myself longing to unburden myself to another human soul, rather than just empty pages. Looking forward to that rare night I walk on two legs, rather than raging at it for being a cruel taunt.
Until I’m reminded that longing for more is what led to this cursed existence in the first place.
It’s too late for me, but I can still save Kenneth. If I can only find the words to make him forget about me and be gone from this terrible place forever.
If for once, I can rise above my own selfish desires and swallow the words I long to say. Speak only the ones he needs to hear.
To do so might crush the last of my spirit. Extinguish the last fitful embers of a hope I’d only just rekindled.
But for him, I’ll do what I have to. Whatever it takes.

It has been a long time since I have read something as complicated and entertaining as this. It is a classic Gothic story reminiscent of Mary Shelly and Bram Stoker. The scope, it starts in the Regency and ends in the Victorian period, is impressive and delicately handled. Lycans, love, witchcraft! Wow. Just freaking wow!

This is exactly what it say. It’s a diary by Eustace Bertram. The story is told in the first person as being read straight from the diary of Eustace. This happening is set well in the past from 1823 to 1875. I personally didn’t care for this one. I found it dull and monotone.
Eustace writes his story down in a diary. After several years as a wolf Eustace finally meets Kenneth. Time keeps flipping between Eustace’s time in 1823 and the present time in 1874. What will become of Eustace? Will he become human again or remain a wolf forever?

Although it started a little slow for me, overall I really enjoyed this story. It has a flavor of eerie gothic, a bit of mystery, evil, magic, loss, risk, redemption, and love. This book was different than anything I have read from Noah Harris before, and I would like to see him write more like this…but maybe with a little more heat and sex. I found the characters here to be complex and detailed, and I enjoyed watching them work together to try and end the curse and escape the sorcerer’s evil plans. Intriguing and interesting tale.

He is heartbroken and so inheriting the estate is good. He finds peace in the woods and the words in a journal. All the wolf wants is to warn him to get away before he is hit by the same curse. Can the wolf do it? What will happen? Follow them to see

This one was a slow burn historical shifter romance. Eustace leaves his hometown after disappointing his father when he failed at becoming a musician. He was caught of guard by one one his professors, Ambrose and beame infatuated with him which led Ambrose to handing him a letter one day that changed eustace’s life forever leaving him unable to ever return to his new life he made for himself at the college he attended. Heartbroken with noone to turn to eustace stumbles upon a castle in Hope’s to find a dry place to crash and hide out for a while and finds himself in luck when he finds the castle to be unlocked in Hope’s that means its been abandoned. soon he will regret his decision once stumbling upon a mad powerful scientist. my heart broke for eustace, nothing seemd to go right for him and when he finally found happiness in his new friend Kenneth, he still remains trapped in a curse that will keep him from being with Kenneth the way he wants to and that will keep him prisoner to the castle forever unless he can somehow find a way to free himself. I really enjoyed this one but found it sometimes hard to get into since the beginning was a bit slow and sometimes i got confused with it going back and forth from past to present. If you like slow burn romances and romances that dont have much smutt in them and paranormal m/m romances then this is for you. There weren’t very many hot steamy scenes in this like there usually is in most shifter books I’ve read but it had more of a story and you were able to get to know the characters better and see the relationship build up between them and nothing was rushed. I cant wait to check out more from them author!
Most of the story is set up like entries in a diary. It is a different type of read and very story driven. It took a minute to get into the story and was an interesting read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This book will keep you guessing throughout. It rambles a little but you get caught up in the story and do not want to put it down. It definitely shows that love will always win in the end.
