From USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a forbidden romance about an Irish rebel who falls in love with the wrong girl.Dear Diary, I might have gotten myself into a wee bit of trouble—and I’m not talking about the “court mandated community service,” or “therapy sessions from bashing a bloke in the head” kind of trouble. I wish it were that simple. Nope. I’m talking about the “falling …
Nope. I’m talking about the “falling in love with one of my client’s daughters,” kind of trouble . . .
The kind of problem I can’t talk my way out of when the truth gets out.
How I ended up with her phone is a long story—and when she called to get it back, I took things a bit too far. One innocent exchange wound up leading to so much more.
Fun, new, and totally immune to my charm, Sutton is different. And I had no idea she was the daughter of Foster Green.
Blame it on the dark colored stout running through my veins, pushing me toward one bad decision after another. Pushing me toward her even though I know right from wrong; even though she’s my client’s daughter.
Dating her might be the best or worst decision I’ve ever made. Only time, whiskey, and one more roll around the mattress with her will tell.

Yet another hit
Whenever I am needing a pick me up book that is the perfect balance of humor, angst, and swoon-worthy moments I know this author will not disappoint. There is always just enough zaniness, laugh out loud moments, and heat that it will keep me on my toes. Add in the fact that there is also a little nugget of wisdom and her stories become magic.
It has been a long time since she wrote a character that has rivaled Tucker (My Best Friend’s Ex) until Roark which in and of itself says something because this author can create some amazing book boyfriends. However, move over Tucker because Roark has the number one spot now. Brooding, standoffish, and aloof from outward appearances juxtaposed with misunderstood, loving, and devoted on the inside. Sutton was delightful and transformed from shy and sweet to sultry vixen in this one. I loved that they became each other’s yin and yang.
I was pretty upset with how a certain event happened in this story and even cussed this author out a few times. However, she did make my heart feel better in the end. Thank goodness because I would not have been happy with Roark not getting his happily ever after because he sure deserved it.
The diary entries were hilarious. I loved the growth in them as they showed how it does help in the grand scheme of things. This book is another fantastic book and cements her status as one of my favorite unicorn authors of all time. I CANNOT wait to read Rath’s book and hopefully Maggie gets one too!
If ever a bad boy will make you look at life a different way then this is definitely a book for you!
I wanted to hug Roark so many times! How this man got to where he is, is astounding but also endearing!
I just loved his soft side…He has to try and navigate feelings and Sutton is tempting in so many ways but I also think they balance each other! I loved the banter, the friendships in this story and I shed a few tears too!
I think the moral of this book is to live life to the fullest and go after what you truly want!
I loved Sutton, she was a breath of fresh air! Her genuine heart and capacity to care for those she holds dear, is amazing and at a certain point I wondered if there would be a happy outcome!
I was captivated by the heart and soul of this book and some of the uplifting words! Such a beautiful but also heartwrenching at times read! I take my virtual hat off to the author who wrote something so wonderful!
5 resounding stars for this brilliant rom com, starring the irreverent, funny, deeply human voice of Roark McCool. Yes, McCool is his surname! Irritable, anger prone, hard drinking Roark and the beautiful, inexperienced Sutton. What a wonderful combination. Add in the diary itself, which takes on its own character as Roark chronicles, hilariously, the shifts in his life. Just fabulous. Meeting up with Bram and Rath again is terrific and, yet again, Meghan Quinn creates truly funny events which had me laughing aloud.
What a well judged and written mixture of great characters, fun, warmth, genuinely entertaining book. I have loved every minute of the emergence of Roark and of the strength with Sutton. 5 star read, from start to finish!
I’m a big fan of this author and just when I think I have seen her best she throws another amazing read out there, if you haven’t already guessed I loved this book , I loved the hero, the heroine the plot if fact I loved everything about this book.
Roark has the most amazing sense of humour and the banter he shares with Sutton is perfection, Sutton is innocent and sassy and you can’t help falling in love with this strong minded woman and as a couple they are everything you want in a book.
This story is written differently to any others I have read and at first I wasn’t sure how the diary pages would mix in but by the end I adored those pages and I wanted more from Roark and his diary.
Who am I kidding I wanted more from Roark and Sutton I didn’t want this book to end and that’s the sign of a brilliant read. If you are looking for a story that’s funny, passionate, with plenty of laugh out loud moments and that will leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat this is the book for you…..
Sutton Green first laid eyes on Roark McCool when her BFF, Maddie, talked her into staying out past 9pm to eat hotdogs at Gray’s Papaya. Roark and his friend, Rath, show up shortly after to get dogs of their own. When Roark accidentally grazes a man’s blue faux fur jacket with the ketchup on his hotdog, ugly words are exchanged and all hell breaks loose as a fist fight between the two men ensues knocking Sutton’s cellphone out of her hand and onto the floor. Rath hurries Roark out of the hot dog place grabbing his cellphone off of the floor on the way out, only he didn’t realize that he grabbed the wrong phone. When Sutton tries to meet up with Roark to trade their phones back he decides to hold her cellphone hostage. This begins the journey for Sutton and Roark.
The angst and chemistry between these two characters was just amazing. The battle of wits between them had me rolling with laughter. Meghan Quinn is one of the best rom-com writers and has this way of making me laugh to hard when I read her stories that I tend to wake my daughter in the room next to mine. She never fails to keep me on my toes. I cannot wait for her to write Rath’s story.
Roark McCool…
I’ve been waiting for Roark since the minute he appeared in The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister. There’s was just something mysterious about him that made you want his story. And I’m so glad the wait is finally over, because he is amazing.
Roark has so many sides to his personality that it’ll make your head spin, but you’ll thoroughly enjoy the ride. He often runs hot and cold but there’s one thing he has in spades – passion. He’s an amazingly passionate man. He’s loyal, infuriating, witty, sarcastic, sweet, and ridiculously sexy. And that accent? You best believe if the audio book comes with the sexy Irish brogue I’m expecting, I’ll be first in line to buy it.
Sutton is the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. She’s timid and reserved at times, but one flip of her switch turns her into this stubborn, sexy vixen that Roark doesn’t know what to do with. Well, that’s sort of a lie. Roark ALWAYS knows what to do. The man doesn’t lack ANY skills. Sutton is patient, loving, and can match Roark at every turn. And the push and pull between them is highly entertaining.
I’m so in love with these characters and with this story. The witty banter pulled me in, but the amazing slow burn kept me hooked. I couldn’t read this story fast enough, but I never wanted it to end. Roark ranks right up there with Racer as my favorite MQ hero. You’re going to love this book!
5+ Stars!!!!
I’m head over heels in love with Roark!
Watching an innocent girl fall in love with the bad boy is one of my favorite tropes. Add in that the bad boy has an Irish accent to die for, and I quickly fell into this story and still haven’t left.
Sutton Green is an innocent girl who has worked hard to prove herself in her father’s company. She refuses to let anything be handed to her because she’s the boss’s daughter. I loved her innocence but even more than that, I loved her wit! She had me laughing out loud and was the perfect match for Roark McCool!
Roark is an Irish bad boy who has also worked hard to be where he is in life. He’s confident, rough around the edges, but underneath it all has a heart of gold. I loved watching him goad Sutton and her reactions to him.
The banter between these two had me laughing out loud! When I read the last word, I was left with the biggest smile on my face. I still get giddy just thinking about this story!
This book will be high on my list of re-reads! Trust me, I don’t say that lightly. I’m still dreaming of the hunky Irish bad boy who stole Sutton’s heart.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
Roark is a name you won’t soon forget!
I adore enemies-to-lovers, and I think Meghan Quinn just topped the list for me with Diary of a Bad Boy. Roark McCool is the ultimate bad boy, so bad he now has to write in a diary to help control his anger, and these glimpses will make you laugh, and make your heart melt. Sutton Grace is the ultimate good girl, loves helping out charities, and is genuinely nice. So when these two accidently switch phones, and he starts playing games with her, it’s no wonder she doesn’t like him at first. The antics in this book are plenty, the passion and teasing are off-the-charts, and the humor is on-point. I absolutely loved this book, Meghan Quinn is a master of prose, and this book shows why. Definitely read this one!
Get ready for your new bad boy OBSSESSION!! Roark McCool is about to rock your world. I can’t get this Irish, whiskey loving hottie outta my head. With every new Meghan Quinn book, she levels up her stories, her characters, and has me screaming this book is EVERYTHING!!! Straight from the first page, I was a goner. No talking while I’m reading, I’m in heaven with Roark!
Roark McCool, Mr. Bad Boy, with the rough and tough exterior and the smushy, lovable centre. It takes a very specific kinda woman to tame his wild ways and he’s met his match in Sutton. Their chemistry is off the charts!! Witty dialogue, smart and funny text banter kept me entertained for days! Sutton is so sassy, an innocent temptress that Roark can’t resist. Young and confident, she’s not afraid to ask for what she wants. Once her sights are set on Roark, he never stood a chance.
Diary of a Bad Boy has EVERYTHING I love in a rom com!! It’s crazy charming, witty, hilarious, smoking hot, loaded with tenderness, smart and has amazing characters. It’s easily one of my top reads this year. The threesome of Bram, Roark and Rath are making my world go round these days. Diehard Meghan Quinn fans will gush over Sutton and Roark, new readers are in for one heck of a treat!! I’m so excited for everyone to READ. THIS. BOOK!! Don’t miss out on Meghan Quinn magic
Meghan Quinn- love to hug her and squeeze her and when she writes a book like Diary of a Bad Boy- she just makes me smile. This book was fantastic! Between Roark’s diary entries- which were hysterical yet so honest, to the best book banter ever between Roark and Sutton- it is one of my top 2019 reads and a book I will go back and read when I need to smile!
I loved Roark’s character in The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister and that relationship with Bram and Rath is awesome! They are so funny yet supportive. Roark is the bad boy who is really just misdirected thinking he is undeserving of love. Here comes Sutton, sweet, a little shy and so annoyed at Roark when she meets him but is such an amazing character.
The sass and fun of how their relationship develops keep me wanting more and more from the. There is a great sweetness and kindness to both of them as they try to stay apart but get together.
I love how Meghan Quinn takes readers into a world of fun and kindness, with characters you a wan to hit upside the head at times (Roark) but fall in love with. Another great book by this amazing author!!
I think Roark has to be one of my favorites. This book had me laughing out load more times than I can count. Well done Meghan Quinn
Roark is currently at the top of my book boyfriend list.
Irish accent…gawwww how can anyone not fall in love with that brogue. To top it off he is smart, handsome and sexy AF. Also these two meet in the best possible way evaaaaaa.
Weiners…they are always brining peeps together. I love mine with just ketchup so like total match made in heaven.
Sutton is a very determined girl who is just looking to tick some boxes off her New Year’s Resolution box, but what she got was so much more than she bargained for.
Don’t let that young, shy face fool you, Sutton is sassy and knows how to give just as good as she gets.
Roark has met his match in this down home country girl.
I love the banter that they have, the ease that comes with the no pressure texts. I can’t say enough about this sexy story.

Roarke McCool is the stereotypical bad boy. After an unfortunate incident he is being forced to go through anger management and community service. Before he even begins he gets into a fight at a hotdog shop over ketchup. Sutton Green just so happens to be at the hotdog shop when that happens. When their phones get swapped in the fight, Roarke decides to make Sutton’s life difficult. However, when Roarke and Sutton realize they have a mutual friend in her famous father things get complicated. What neither expect is for their text messages, late night sleepovers and banter to become so much more. With the odds stacked against them will these two find a happily ever after?
This was a fantastic novel. Meghan Quinn truly knows how to write a romantic comedy. Roarke and Sutton are such memorable characters. He is the epitome of the bad boy. When he finds the oh so sweet Sutton he can’t think he’d ever want someone like her. However, she is the one character that evolves what seems so dramatically. They both influence each other for the best but how they get there is so very comical. Along with Roarke and Sutton are their friends, Bram, Rath and Maddie. There is one particular scene involving a proposal that will have you snort laughing out loud. If you haven’t read a Meghan Quinn book yet, there is no time like the present to pick this book up. If you are a fan of Tara Sivec, you will love Meghan Quinn. I look forward Meghan Quinn’s next book.
Oh the luck of the Irish!!!! Ms. Quinn has written yet another story that I fell right into on Page 1; so much so that nothing around my house got done because I needed to finish Roark and Sutton’s “diary”.
I fell completely, hopelessly, head over heels in love with Roark McCool from page 1…and it was more than the accent, because yes, with the way Ms. Quinn is able to write, she brings every character to life, which means I heard the Irish brogue.
Pitting Sutton (which, I love her name!!!) and Roark against each other with the banter was EPIC!!!! I just can’t get enough of these two!
I literally want to sit in the glory of all things Meghan Quinn….because I just love this woman!!!!
Diary of a Bad Boy
By Meghan Quinn
Is it hot in here or is it just me?? Cause I just got done reading this scorcher by Meghan Quinn and WHOO WHEE!! Diary of a Bad Boy may be my new favorite book by Ms. Quinn! Well, maybe top 3 would be more accurate. But that’s because every new book I read just seems to get better and better! Meghan Quinn delivers a solid knock out with this newest book!
As my friend Janise says to me sometimes: Let me tell you all the details…Yeah, no. Never mind. You read it for yourself. I’ll hit the highlights for you. 🙂
Diary of a Bad Boy is a story about a man and a woman… (If I were mean I’d just leave the review right there. LOL but today, I’m a giver) But it’s not as simple as that. In this book, we meet Roark and Sutton. Now if you like your nice, clean cut, all American boys, Roark might be a little…different. Your gonna think he’s an a-hole of the highest proportion but that’s part of his charm! No…really it is!! Sutton the other hand was not whom I would have pictured with Roark (yes…for a minute there I pictured MYSELF with him but girls can dream, right?). Sutton IS the girl next door, who always follows the rules and never takes a step outside the lines. So, you can imagine the interactions between these two!
You can’t help but fall in love with this book. Great writing, fascinating characters and a guy with an accent. Who could ask for anything more? Ms. Quinn ensnares the reader from page one and takes you on a fun journey. You’ll laugh, you’ll curse but in the end, you will sigh in pleasure with this fantastic read. You need to get this book. NOW. Why are you still reading and not 1-clicking?? GOOOOO!!!!!
Oh, Roark…the strong-willed, broody Irishman that we met in the Secret to Dating your Best Friends Sister is here with his own story. Seriously with a name like Roark McCool you have got to be a badass…right? The Trio of Rath, Bram, and Rouke is one fantastic group of men, the banter and wisecracks between these three kept me giggling throughout the book.
Roark and Sutton have one heck of a first meeting, literally bumped into each other and it’s not so friendly. In the struggle, Roark and Sutton’s phone are mixed up, and the games begin. Roark isn’t that cooperative when it’s time to return Sutton’s phone. Now Sutton just wants her phone back and isn’t too keen on Roark and his ways. The texts between them are funny and frustrating for Sutton. Time after time Roark keeps pushing off the return of Sutton’s phone.
Sutton is a southern girl, she has manners and TRIES to be accommodating, but she has been pushed to her limit. After a court-mandated community service is given to Roark for yet again fighting, his client, Sutton’s Dad has Roark signed up to help at a camp he holds at his ranch…by the way…Sutton is in charge of running the camp.
Meghan Quinn always entertains with her books and with this book she gave us a softer side of her character. With this story, she gave us a vulnerable bad boy in Roark and a wallflower in Sutton. In Diary of a Bad Boy, we see such a significant character growth in both of these characters. Seeing them learn more about each other and themselves was great, seeing two very different people find each other, the most unlikeliest of couples who you will be cheering for! Roark is one swoony man, and Sutton deserves every moment she has with him.
“Behind the reckless, bad-boy exterior and the asshole comments, he truly is a loveable and addicting man…”
I loved this one! If you read The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister, you have already meet Roark. If you haven’t read The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister, no worries Diary of a Bad Boy is a standalone. I totally loved Roark and couldn’t wait to get my hands on his story. Roark is a cocky sexy Irish guy. He comes off as a bit of a jerk at time but he’s a jerk in a fun way. He likes to push buttons. He’s in therapy for getting into a fight and his therapist has him write in a diary. His dairy entries are fun and I loved that he kept changing the name he called it. He meets Sutton in a crazy way and their phones get switched. They have this love hate relationship. Their text messages are great. Roark and Sutton have great chemistry and banter. These two are great together. I loved loved this one. This one is one you should definitely one click.
Absolutely fantastic!!!
Meghan Quinn does NOT EVER disappoint! I’m absolutely in love with this book!
Roark is incredibly sexy, swoon worthy, and Sutton, shy at first , he brings out all the other attributes in her. They are a perfect match!
I devoured this book. It made me laugh, happy, it had me in tears. And when I have all these emotions over a book, than it stays with me in my heart. That’s a fantastic book for me.
I can’t wait for Meghan‘s next book. I absolutely recommend her books!
I kindly received an arc for an honest review
For the past year, Beck has held the top spot on my list of favorite Meghan Quinn heroes. And now, he has company with Roark McCool. Gah!! I just fell completely head over heels for him. All the texts, the diary entries, the witty and entertaining banter between Roark and Sutton……truly, I just loved every minute of this story!! I cannot say enough good things about this lovable whiskey drinking, black brief wearing, cigarette smoking Irishman and his lass that totally stole my heart!!
Wow, what a great story! Follow the story of bad boy Roark, who has to do some community service for fighting. When he’s out one night grabbing a hot dog, he runs into Sutton, and a fight ensues and they end up switching phones, and then the fun begins!
Roark is dealing with his crappy upbringing in Ireland, his family is a winner for sure. Sutton on the other hand was raised by her father and grandparents and had nothing but love. She’s in NYC working for her dad’s foundation, but wants to experience all life has.
The banter between Roark and Sutton is hysterical, so it will have you laughing, but with Roarks sad backstory, you will feel his sadness as well.
Meghan writes an amazing story here, I love her books and this one will not disappoint you! 5 Whiskey stars for this one! Grab it asap!
