From USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a forbidden romance about an Irish rebel who falls in love with the wrong girl.Dear Diary, I might have gotten myself into a wee bit of trouble—and I’m not talking about the “court mandated community service,” or “therapy sessions from bashing a bloke in the head” kind of trouble. I wish it were that simple. Nope. I’m talking about the “falling …
Nope. I’m talking about the “falling in love with one of my client’s daughters,” kind of trouble . . .
The kind of problem I can’t talk my way out of when the truth gets out.
How I ended up with her phone is a long story—and when she called to get it back, I took things a bit too far. One innocent exchange wound up leading to so much more.
Fun, new, and totally immune to my charm, Sutton is different. And I had no idea she was the daughter of Foster Green.
Blame it on the dark colored stout running through my veins, pushing me toward one bad decision after another. Pushing me toward her even though I know right from wrong; even though she’s my client’s daughter.
Dating her might be the best or worst decision I’ve ever made. Only time, whiskey, and one more roll around the mattress with her will tell.

Brilliant.
I really really enjoy this book. It’s the first book I’ve read from this author and it won’t be the last. Her writing is brilliant. I luvd the text and diary parts of this book it was so funny. Seeing Roark finally open up well try was great and the text he would send to Sutton was funny this guy really kept her on her toes. He would drive her crazy in every way. Roark is your typical had boy he smokes drinks sleeps with who he wants he live is good. But it’s slowing getting out of control he’s fighting drinking more he just can’t control his temper. So this is where the diary comes in he was told to log down his thought. This isn’t something he wouldn’t normally do but he has no choice but to do it. I did find it funny how he meets Sutton with something he’s not meant to be doing. This guy is just so great I luv him.
Sutton is this prim proper woman. She doesn’t go out or drink much doesn’t have many friends. She works hard and knows what she wants from lfe. She has everything set in place. But she’s happy well she thinks she is until she meets the most annoying sexy men ever Roark McCool. He is the most annoying man ever she doesn’t know how he got to be one of the best sport agents in NY. This guy fight, drinks, smokes, he’s arrogant, annoying, confident and totally sexy. There is one thing she wants from this guy one thing but can she get it no and it’s her. He makes her run around like a mad woman. They both didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. Just over a PHONE.
This book was so good I enjoyed it from the start to finish. Both Roark and Sutton are brilliant. There both so different but for together at the same time. The whole opposites attract between them is funny and sexy. They shouldn’t fit evertything about them if different but they are so sexy and great together. I did feel sorry for Roark he hides so much from people he has so much anger. It just comes out in the wrong way sometimes. It’s hard not to luv this guy the way he was in the start of this book he was a proper bad boy showing how bad and mean he could be. He just didn’t know who he was dealing with. It was fun to see Sutton becomes more open and be sassy towards Roark she really did keep him in his toes in part but he really did have her running around like a crazy person in the beginning. It was good that they both got the upper hand in each other.
I would highly recommend this book. Like I said it’s the first book I’ve read from this author. I can’t wait to read more from her. I have to go back and read Bram and Julia’s story having getting a bit of Bram in this book. I’m dying for more of Rath as well and this EX of his they were talking about. I really luvd this book and I m looking forward to see what I read next from this author.
Roark McCool has quite a temper and he is ordered to see a therapist who has him writing in a diary in hopes that he will change. When he gets into a scuffle he ends up with the phone of a beautiful lady that was in the restaurant he was at.
Sutton Green wants nothing more than to get her phone back from the guy who has it but every time they set up a meeting he never shows and Sutton is getting frustrated!!
When Sutton finally catches up to Roark she is shocked to discover that he knows her father, Foster, and Foster has big plans that involve the two of them!
As the attraction mounts between Roark and Sutton can he keep it professional or is going to give in to what he wants? Is Sutton enough to help Roark conquer his demons?
This was such a great book and I couldn’t stop reading!
I loved Sutton and I totally understood why she was so frustrated!! I couldn’t believe the stuff that Roark was putting her through just to get her phone back. I loved when she finally figured how to catch him and I was shocked at everything that happened next!
Roark was such a jerk but I loved how almost cruel he was with Sutton’s phone. His attitude just drew you in although you wanted to smack him for his behavior. Roark had some pretty big demons and he turned to the bottle or let his anger get out of control as a way of almost not allowing himself to get over the past and where he came from.
There was so much chemistry between Roark and Sutton and for how much of a jerk Roark was it was still obvious that he did care about Sutton’s safety. Then Roark knew he couldn’t cross a line when he discovered who Sutton’s dad was but he sure wanted to!
I loved the task that Foster had set Sutton and Roark with! I loved reading about Roark doing such “honest” work and how he struggled with it. I loved Sutton flaunting herself in front of Roark to show him what he was missing! There were so many laughs and I loved it!! I loved the advice that Foster gave to Roark about dealing with everything.
Towards the end when everything blew up it was huge and so intense!! My heart broke for both Roark and Sutton for what happened and the huge misunderstanding that occurred! I was so sad that Roark just hit rock bottom and my heart was just falling apart!!
I was so happy at the end and really hope that we get another story with these characters and hopefully Rath!!!
I have to admit, I found our hero Roark to be a cocky @$$ at first. I didn’t like him at the beginning of the book, but then we got to know him as he opened up to Sutton and I could see a bit of why he was the way he was. Sutton had far more patience with him than I would have, but she also found the love of her life in Roark. This book had moments that had me laughing so hard I almost spit out my drink. This story had the humor that I’ve come to expect form Meghan Quinn, along with the warm and fuzzies that you want from a romance. I enjoyed meeting Roark and Sutton’s friends and would love to see them get their own books. I now need to go back and read Julia and Bram’s story (we see a bit about them in this book). This book was great and I definitely recommend it.
Unabashed humor, laugh out loud moments, and full of heart, Meghan has written another great book with a new leading man that I fell for immediately!
Let’s be honest here, who doesn’t love a damaged man… Come on, we can admit it… So, as Roark, this strong, bruting man, starts to let his vulnerabilities show in secret, while spilling his guts out into his diary for the betterment of himself, the reader is only bound to fall even more head over heels for the bad boy that deep down wants to be good.
With hilarity and heart at its finest I could not get enough of this story between this Irish bad boy and the amazing Southerner, Sutton Grace. I could go on and on about my love of this book but I think it best for you to read and enjoy for yourself!
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
As usual, beginning a book by Meghan Quinn means I want nothing more than to finish it in one sitting. Unfortunately, during the school year, the fact that I still have to get up and go to work in the morning means I can’t. I fell in love with Roark pretty quickly, even with my huge frustration, well the same frustration that Sutton had with him not returning her phone. Now, since he was Irish, I kind of wished there would be a little bit more showing his accent throughout the book, but I totally get how the author was trying to show that his accent really came out when things were intense. Or when he was doing it on purpose.
I loved the totally different settings that this took place in. New York City, and then Texas. So much fun to read about Roark on a horse. Funny when Sutton was trying to tease him. I loved it so much. And then, then there was the whole “Dear Diary” part of the story. I loved all the names Roark came up with for the diary. It was the perfect way of getting his feelings. Another perfect romance from Meghan Quinn. Now I’ll wait (im)patiently for the next one!
This is my favorite book by Meghan so far! The plot is absolutely brilliant, the dialogues have to be some of the most hilarious Meghan has ever written and the characters – you couldn’t not love them! My cheeks were hurting by the time I’ve finished the book.
Set in NYC, Diary of a Bad Boy is a rom-com about two people who meet due to unusual circumstances, stay in touch due to even more unusual circumstances, battle with age gap and who on the paper should never be together. Roark the Bad Boy with Irish roots that will bring you to your knees and glass filled with whiskey attached to his lips. Sutton the Sweet Girl with southern charm with flames bubbling under the surface. Both of the characters are built very well, they have their strengths and weaknesses that we discover through out the book.
Meghan kept the storyline pretty simple, with couple of interesting plot twist here and there, but generally it was quite easy going and made so you could really focus on their dialogues and individual scenes. Staying true to her sense of humor, she is not afraid to cross boundaries. I genuinely love her style and she didn’t disappoint with this book once again.
Overall it was a great book that will get many re-reads in the future. The combination of great characters and interesting situations makes it very easy to give it full five stars!
*4 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
As with all of Meghan’s books that I have read so far, I enjoyed this one. I actually didn’t pick up on the fact right away that we had met Roark before, until Bram turns up in the book a bit later on. Roark is the mysterious, troubled, Irish loose cannon, and he sure is a damn pain to Sutton at the start of the book when their phones get mistakenly swapped.
I loved the back and forth banter between these two, both whilst enemies and then eventually lovers. The age difference was sometimes noticeable, but not an issue for me in this book. I just enjoyed getting to know these characters and watch them grow together. Roark also grows a fair bit individually by the end of the story, which is definitely something that needed to happen.
Not too light, not too angsty, a bit of everything, this was another great read from Meghan. I also really want Rath’s story now too.
I think my feelings about Diary of a Bad Boy might have been a case of “it’s not you, it’s me,” but I struggled a bit with this one. I thought it started off kinda slow (and repetitive) and ultimately I think that kept me from truly connecting with the characters or the story. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad book or anything. I still got a few feels and laughs along the way. I just didn’t connect with the story way I normally do with Meghan’s books.
Roark and Sutton were interesting characters and they both had some really good character growth throughout this book. Roark probably more so than Sutton. But I never did quite get to swoony book boyfriend status with him. He was flawed, but there was a really good guy underneath all of it. I did appreciate the openness of his diary entries. They also gave a good dose of humor at times throughout the book. There was more to Sutton than met the eye, but I had a tough time relating to her. I think it all comes down to the overall lack of connection to these characters. There were some cute moments, and a good dose of heat. I loved seeing some of my faves from other books along the way.
I don’t often question my decision not to rate books using half stars, but I did when it came to Diary of a Bad Boy. A three star review shouldn’t be considered a “negative” review, but it often is. I didn’t dislike this book. It was good, but it was missing something for me. If could give it 3.5 stars, I probably would, but I just couldn’t round up to four stars. I’m a fan of Meghan’s other books, but while this one was good, it just didn’t get me the same way her others have. But, it’s still a solid read without any real problems.
Favorite Quotes:
“Now kiss me under the stars. Give us a moment to remember for a long time.”
Sutton is everything I never knew I wanted in my life, and it’s about time I let myself feel, rather than live in a constant state of numbness.
5 She Believes In Him Stars!!!!
This book has officially become my favorite rom-com by Ms. Quinn. I experienced so many emotions while reading this one including snort laughing out loud, heart wrenching pain for why Roark is the way he is and overwhelming love for these characters as a whole.
Sutton is a woman that works hard to get the things she wants even though she doesn’t have to. Her father is a very well known athlete and she could be so spoiled and give the air of entitlement, but she doesn’t and I absolutely loved this about her. She’s willing to do the work needed to get where she’s at and wants to be. And one fateful night her entire life changes all thanks to an ill-timed hot dog run with her bestie Maddie.
Roark is this hot-headed hotter than hot man with a delicious Irish accent that mistakenly takes her phone after a scuffle at said hot dog eatery and so begins their “relationship” so to call it. I was rolling with laughter with each attempt Sutton made to get her phone. This man is so infuriating and just loves to rile her up. I could tell there were fireworks between these two.
And don’t you just know there’s going to be so much more to their relationship when they discover that not only is Roark connected to her through her father, but more importantly, because of his past indiscretions, they have to work together which neither of them wants at all!!!
But, now that they’re spending all this time together, albeit begrudgingly, more on his part than hers, feelings are starting to come out and they’re so delicious….
“To be honest, I’m a little nervous about seeing Roark again. Not because of what we have to talk about, but because of the way my body reacts to him whenever he’s around. I get all hot and bothered, my face flushes, and for some reason all I can picture is his ass when he talks to me.”
Theirs is truly a love/hate relationship…she has so much love to give and he doesn’t have anything to compare it to because his life before meeting this woman that would change his life in so many important ways was literally filled with nothing but anger, hurt, some violence, and self-deprecation. She’s literally a ray of sunshine in his world which changes him on every level.
I loved how Sutton was able to see to what’s in his heart and see there’s so much more to what’s on the outside. As I predicted, their chemistry is smoking hot!! Watching how Roark changed throughout the book was a wonderful experience. His growing love for Sutton brought a smile to my face along with possibly wanting to slap him upside his head every once in a while for his bonehead ways! What can’t be denied is his deepening feelings for this woman….
“She’s addicting, and I need a piece of her.”
These two have grabbed my heart and still haven’t let go. Ms. Quinn has written pure magic with this book. It’s so much more than a rom-com. It’s all the things I want in a rom-com but there’s heart, angst, never ending love, chemistry that can be felt oozing off the pages of my kindle and a Hero and Heroine that have the ability to bring the best out in each other, seeing so much more than what’s on the surface and that is something that is uniquely fabulous with Ms. Quinn’s stories and characters. This is a book that is your next MUST READ book!!
I have been eagerly awaiting Diary of a Bad Boy since meeting Roark McCool in The Secret to Dating Your Best Friends Sister. As the best friend to Bram, Roark had zero interest in dating, slowing down, committing to anything other than his job as a Sport’s Agent. Roark is a true Irishman with a hot temper and loves his tipple.
Sutton is the heroine of the novel and I adored her. She appears as a sweet if not a little sheltered, intelligent, driven young woman; but when faced with Roark she has a sassy side that was the perfect bit of spice her character needed. As Roark discovers, Sutton isn’t the walkover he first thought.
The story is set in motion by Roark and Sutton’s phones being accidentally switched and so begins the start of a string of text conversations between the two main antagonists. I was taken by surprise (in a good way) by Roark, he was way more obnoxious than I expected and I loved him even more because of it. His devil may care attitude drove me wild and drove Sutton round the bend, setting up a delicious slow burn between them.
There were so many elements to this novel I loved, enemies to lovers troupe is always a winner to me. Megan is so good at writing slow burn. The banter between Roark, Bram and Rath was so entertaining, whenever the guys got together, bringing the humour I love in Meghan’s books
Diary of a Bad Boy is another smash hit for me. I have no doubt that everyone is going to love this one. Enemies to lovers, with a Hero who has a bad boy edge, paired with a feisty heroine who makes it her mission to prove to Roark he has met his match. A feel good perfectly balanced romance read, from a wonderfully talented Author.
This book made me laugh so hard from the first page until the last. These two was absolutely amazing together so hot and funny. I absolutely loved everything about this book, the characters and the words. Seriously I was hooked and didn’t want to see it end. I will definitely be checking out other books by this authors. She has completely hooked me with the last two books I’ve read.
Meghan Quinn is my go to author when I feel like reading a super funny, swoon worthy, super well written book! I loved, loved, loved this Diary!!! I also really loved the bad boy 😉 Sutton & Roark will take you along for a fun ride and you’ll be ready to smack our hero over the back of the head a few times lol
I’m a huge sucker for a hot bad boy! Add in an accent and….yes please!
Switching cell phones has never been such a humorous ordeal!
The back and forth, the super hot and steamy chemistry…gah the whole package was awesome!
I highly recommend it! And all this author writes
One punch results in eighty hours of community service and anger management therapy sessions. Needless to say hes not amused.
She has a new job, in a janitors closet of all places and now it’s time to celebrate!
Hotdogs and free entertainment as fists fly, followed by the wrong phone in her hand.
It’s simple. One phone swap and life can go back to normal… right?
This book gave me what I love! A complete and utter arrogant alpha male who’s angry at the world and takes no prisoners.
He’s rude, he’s ignorant, he thinks he’s gods gift to women and he’s crude but underneath that very rugged exterior lies a heart of loyalty like no other.
She’s sweet and quite innocent on the outside but on the inside she’s a sexy and seductive vixen who just needs an exscuse to be unleashed.
She lacks patience big style and had me chuckling away at her banter with the keeper of her phone.
These two bounced off each other in a way that will reside with me for a long time. They are perfect for each other if only they could see it!
The drama, tension, strops and troublesome moments had me hooked, that and Rourke is exactly how I like my men!
Fantastic characters, and a storyline crammed full of heat both in and out of the bedroom that will leave you gasping for more.
What more could you possibly want..?
Aw man, who doesn’t love a bad boy? Add in an Irish brogue and I am all in! And that’s exactly what I was in reading Diary of a Bad Boy.
I absolutely loved Roark! He is a bit of a mess—detached, unemotional, and somewhat rude. But he’s also hiding a heart of gold underneath his rough and tumble exterior. A heart that hasn’t quite had the opportunity to grow and love. Until Roark meets Sutton.
Sutton is everything Roark isn’t. Sweet, innocent, kind, loving. Boy, does he have something to learn here! Sutton is all that, but she’s also got a bit of a bad, snarky side too. One that comes out more and more as Sutton and Roark get to know each other.
I loved the connection between Sutton and Roark. Loved how they fit together—each bringing out the best in the other, well, and some of the fun, bad side too! Their interactions were fun, smart, sexy, snarky and so realistic too. I loved to see Roark’s vulnerability come through as their relationship grew. And through his sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking diary entries. And I loved seeing Sutton find her place in life and stand up for herself and her future.
Quinn has funny with a heaping side of emotion down to a science! With rapier sharp banter and a swoon-worthy hero wrapped in bad boy, she has us eating out of the palm of this story! Another winner!
There are times when I look at a book, see the author’s name and know that I am in for a treat. Meghan Quinn is one of those authors. I am guaranteed to get the excitement, angst, crazy romance, humor, thought provoking insight and conversations, oh and did I mention humor? Diary of a Bad Boy fits that bill in spades.
The story stands alone but for a little background help, it would not hurt to read “How to Date Your Best Friends Sister”. Definitely worth the time when it comes to fun stories.
Roark is that Irish lad that grew up once he got to the states and has done well…very well. He is a man that has baggage and major confidence issue. But his best business feature is in his ability to divide his personal worries from his business success. While he may enjoy the life of luxury and drinking that most-bad boys do, sometimes an unexpected gift will come along that totally turns a fella around. I can still see him scratching his head asking, “How the hell did I get here!”
Sutton is that good girl with passion and an open mind. She is so innocent…or so we think. She possesses the skillset to touch a man’s heart and soul without knowing she is doing so. She may have lived a challenging sheltered life, but that does not stop her from facing reality. What is that reality? She is dealing with a hot head Irishman that seems to always push her buttons wrong.
I laughed throughout this entire book. It is just that funny and it is just that good. Watching these two relate to each other while discovering what makes the other tick has been nothing short of absolute fun. Their conversations are thought provoking sometimes and touching at others. They challenge each other and as I read this I wondered if they would ever figure out how they really fit.
What a wonderful way to pull a story together Meghan. What a wonderful way to make me smile and close a book satisfied beyond belief. You rocked this book lady, and I give it all the praise it deserves. Five stars is not enough, not by a long shot.
Five stars!
This book! Omg! No surprise but I devoured it like any other Meghan Quinn book! Meghan is absolutely one of my all time favorite authors. This woman and her sorcery! You can’t help but get sucked into her books with the romance, the comedy, the wit. Her characters captivate you and you can’t help but love them! I do think however…and this is hard to say because I love everything this woman writes, but I think this book is by far my favorite!!!
The Bad-Boy Irishman (Roark) has his demons and you love his humor. I’m a sucker for this kind of hero. But the heroine? GEEZ! Sutton is AMAZING! At first meeting Sutton I thought we were gonna get a goody-two shoes innocent girl. But as I kept reading and layers were peeled back this girl inspired me with her honesty and connection/communication with Roark. Opposites really do attract! These two are too perfect!
Pick up this book! I highly recommend it!
A walk at eleven-thirty pm in the middle of New York is a chance to scratch an item from the list of New Year’s resolutions. Being more adventurous, spontaneous, not afraid, that was the purpose. But an innocent cafeteria that offers the best hot dog in town, ends up hosting a friendly discussion between a very important issue: mustard or ketchup. Until a bump causes a stain on a suit and the fight runs wild.
In the midst of confusion, two cell phones are switched, and the person who got Sutton’s phone does not seem so willing to make the switch. Roark holds the phone captive, leaving its owner on the verge of a fit of nerves. Several messages, several supplications, threats, until an attempted chase reveals a common coincidence: he is the agent of Sutton’s father.
Forced to work together, these two will be responsible for the funniest comebacks and the most powerful sparks I’ve ever seen. Add a diary written by Roark as part of his compulsory therapy, where chapter by chapter he tries to find a name for the poor inanimate thing, a powerful chemist, a drunken Irishman, and a naive, good-hearted young lady. You will come across a great book.
Roark is an anti-hero in every way. He is rude, womanizer, has phobia of commitment, likes too much night clubs, drinks and cigarettes. And that’s why he’s so real. The giant bon vivant is vulnerable to extremes, no matter how hard he tries to hide. Sutton ends up seeing behind the mask and offers the comfort and love he so desperately needs.
The book surprised me positively. It is a light romantic comedy, funny, with a cat and mouse couple who are passionate. I recommend.

Loved this book.
Sutton Foster is a naive 24-year-old just out of college girl and for reasons she cannot control is strangled with Roark McCool, a bit older alcoholic bitter Irish who is her father agent.
Together they are explosive and combust.
They have to work together because of fate (again) and it is so fun and sweet. He is hard, bitter and hurting and she is a fresh breeze in his life who helps him to take matters more easily.
The book is fun, witty, sexy and Roark is really a cool interesting character.
It is worth reading.
This was a true enemies to lovers story that took me on quite the ride. The relationship between Sutton and Roark was a lot of push and pull with self discovery and tender moments between them.
As their relationship unfolded, these two were well matched. There are a lot of moments where Roark seemed like too much of a jerk, but he’s wounded and you understand why he is the way he is along the way. This created a soft spot for the surly Irishman for me.
As with all Quinn books there were several Lol moments with great banter.
I didn’t fully connect with the characters but I still enjoyed this story overall. I am looking forward to Raths story.
